  1. I can say with absolute certainty that 1 in 40 smokers in Iowa are not using e cigs (which is a crying shame). I've never seen anyone else vaping here, though I've heard anecdotal reports there are others. I'm all for the stats, regardless who made them up; it'll surely make at least some smokers consider vaping. We're here to save lives folks, whatever it takes. Vape on! Thanks for the link Dr J.
  2. No, I "bet" he had a long walk coming up. Can't type worth beans.
  3. Hey I watch Rachel Ray when I see her! She has about the sexiest voice ever! Okay, moving along. My take on that was, "What's the big deal?" "Lobbyists." The show definitely came out in favor of keeping e cigs on the market. Great find Jeff! Thanks.
  4. Congratulations on your 9-day mark! That's a milestone that must feel great. Vaping is a major learning curve, not reduced by all the options we have. Sounds like you're doing well, keep up the fun and experimenting!
  5. Cool post man, +1 for so much great info. You have me wondering about the pipe too - there's just no end to it, is there?
  6. I'm with FTJoe on this one, if you're starting out with 0 nic that makes me think you're not a smoker. You sure don't want to get addicted to nicotine if you're not already! You can make your own juice with USP glycerin bought at a pharmacy or grocery store, and commonly found flavorings. Lorann's flavorings for candy can be found in the cake decorating section of Hobby Lobby or similar stores, or many flavorings can be found online. You want liquid flavoring that is not an oil base. You can also find propylene glycol at many vaping suppliers. Most commercial juice is all or mostly PG based. You'll find many threads describing the difference vaping VG vs PG. Check the DIY Liquid forum for lots of info. But if you're not a nicotine user already, stay away from nic juices!!! One thing no one needs is a new monkey on their back. Good luck and have fun!
  7. All the best to Chris and Ashley! Take care you guys, we'll hold it down while you're starting your new lives.
  8. Oh man, I get that guy had a long walk coming up!
  9. I thought this was pretty cool - if you have a mind for spaghetti. I knew Linux was pretty forked but I had no freakin idea. How much does this impact development? I'm just curious, I'm not a coder in any sense of the word. Having trouble posting this image for my own hosting temporarily, so I'm going to try to attach it below. Meanwhile, here's the source: GNU/Linux Distro Timeline
  10. I think most of what are called whistle tip 510 carts are probably 901s? Since I haven't tried either 901 carts yet, or any described as flat tip 510 carts, I can't say for sure. I'm curious too. There's one good way to find out - order a bunch of stuff and see if there's any difference. That might be a good review for someone. I'm gonna win the lottery tomorrow, maybe I'll do it.
  11. Thanks Prof, I'd noticed that no one seemed to pick up on that too. Probably a lot of people are not as well informed about the nuances of various models, and when an opportunity to become better informed presents itself, it doesn't get through - possibly due to innocent reckless enthusiasm? We're mostly newer vapers here and still in the "gosh wow" stage of happiness. Maybe not the most discriminating bunch? Thanks for your input.
  12. Whoa Mike, what a great way to wake up!!! [hope that looks like a happy crowd!] Uma I hope you weather the storm okay today. (pun was accidental but I left it in there anyway )
  13. I asked this question at ECF too (don't spank me!) and did get an interesting answer from user nicotime: "I love 555 also. The mix I make for a 30ml bottle is as follows; 3ml of Lorann Peanut Butter 1ml of FlavorArts Virginia/Burley mix 50/50, or your favorite tobacco flavor .1ml of Lorann Chocolate .3ml of Lorann Caramel 1 drop of FlavorArts Peanut...which is RAW peanut flavor very potent...not required though. Then add your PG/VG/PGA and unflavored Nicotine base mix to the top. Mine is approx; 12.5ml of 60mg/ml unflavored Nicotine 10ml PG 2.5ml VG .5ml PGA Makes a nic level of 25%" Further discussion centered around peanut butter being the nutty flavor for 555; that's something I'd never have thought of, and that's what I mean about mixing being more like baking than chemistry. To me anyway. I'm going to give this a try as soon as I collect the additional flavors I need and will report back.
  14. I've added three or four drops of everclear to about 2 ml of juice and experienced a very mild increase in TH. I don't know how much alcohol affects the flavor, just haven't done that much experimenting yet. I also wonder how well alcohol lasts in plastic carry bottles. Seems like it might evaporate rather quickly. As an aside, I use a mix of 80% 0 nic VG to 20% everclear (this is 151 proof, not the good stuff) to break in attys. I've found I prefer doing it that way as I can huff like crazy without feeling like I'm wasting valuable nicotine and flavoring! No, I don't inhale.
  15. I know I'm not the only one that watches for these or has ordered 901 carts for their 510s, so just thought I'd throw this out there. I've never ordered from Eastmall, but that might be in my future. They're not a flat as 801s and don't look soft, but perhaps they will do for now. 510 Whistle Tip Carts
  16. Uma that just so totally rocks! I never thought of looking on youtube. What a way to start my day!!! You're my hero for today.
  17. Cripes Teri, I can't believe I got caught with my own argument!
  18. Yeah, those are both movies that are on my list when they come around. Glad to hear they were worth watching. (But I'm not buying that Mayan calendar thing; how many times in my life has the world been going to end in cataclysm? Half a dozen anyway. )
  19. I think if I was gonna buy a Screwdriver cavecom would be the way to go - what with backups and all. I don't see how you could go wrong myself. But TeriJo, if you don't like having two, just go on ahead and send your extra to me! I'll give it a go.
  20. I'd always been concerned about that too, but Prof convinced me some time ago it wouldn't be a big deal. I guess I'll be finding out in a couple weeks, as my brother ordered an S6. (Not me, yet, alas.) He's getting it with brass ends, which I think will look pretty classy.
  21. Glad you have some work coming Snubber but we'll miss you. North Carolina is a beautiful place, some of the best times of my life happened there; you may not want to go home! Stay in touch as best you can, and we'll keep your seat warm for when you're back on regularly.
  22. Yeah JM, I've had people notice the smell of vapor too, "That smells good, what is it?" kinda thing. But it has to be close quarters, vapor dissipates very quickly. It is nice to have your habit not impose on people, for sure. Last weekend my son was over and man! did he ever freakin reek. It was awful, I could hardly stand to sit next to him. That nasty analog smell is really bad. Every time I catch a whiff of it I'm embarrassed that I used to impose that on people. There were times I'd go huff one down quick before a meeting and come into the room surely smelling like ash. No one ever said anything but now I'm sure I know what they were thinking... Ugh. I haven't had the huevos to vape in a long meeting though. Just beforehand, sure. But not during, when 'decision makers' are sitting about. Good thing for nicorette gum in those instances.
  23. That hasn't happened to me but I use mostly PG and it's relatively warm in the house lately. It would freak me out too, though.
  24. Those sure were the days man! Mike you ought to track it down sometime, it'll make you want to stand up and play...
  25. I am so transparent! PV you're my new best friend! You live a charmed life, for sure. If I started making beer I'd probably have to quit my job so I could stay home to nurse it and keep it safe and happy for consumption. Sigh. Well, maybe one fine day. I'll vote with Brian though, Amen!
