I've often thought that the most prominent ads are also ripoffs that could give vaping generally a bad rep. I'm sure there are a great many people out there who will never again give vaping a chance because their first experience was unsatisfactory and they haven't thought to do further research. But like Teri said and others have shown, those first unsatisfactory units can also open a world of possibilities for people who do conduct further research. I'd never heard of e cigs when my brother sent a video of a guy promoting V4L's kits. We each bought one and found it to have potential - but not quite sufficient to replace smoking. Then he found Chris and Sean's review of the VP2, and we both bought one of those. That was the first unit that had sufficient vapor production/TH to get me off the analogs. And because of Chris's very cool style I took up with this forum. My brother didn't and now I'm the local authority! That cracks me up. This and nana's story do show though that there are other routes to successful vaping than the most commercially visible ones.

Hi sensay, welcome to the light side! To get set up for mixing you'll want a few basic things. Unfortunately you can't get them all in one place. What a raw deal but that's just the deal. Actually, you probably can get most everything you need from one or two places, but there's going to be specific flavors you want that you'll have to go looking for. Here's a list of what I consider the basics: PG and/or VG nic base, with a high enough nic level that you can cut it at least by half and still get your desired end nic strength. For example if you vape 24mg you could probably get away with 48mg base.0 nic PG and VG. These are cheap, though PG is a bear to find except by mailorder.Flavorings. Common brands are Lorann's, Fairy's Finest, Capella, Perfumer's Apprentice, Flavour Art. I'm beginning to lean back toward Lorran's because they seem to be the most concentrated to me, which can be important if you like a Lot of flavor.Storage and carry bottles. I like to store larger quantities of everything in glass dropper bottles easy to find on eBay. 30 ml bottles would be a decent size to be handy to use but I have some 60 ml bottles for storing mixed liquid. Also 3 ml and 6 ml plastic drip bottles.Pipettes for dripping. One thing that can throw you is that different drippers have different drop sizes. You'll have to adjust your calculator for the number of drops you get per milliliter; that really varies! So using the same kind of disposable pipette can help to standardize mixing. (Disposable pipettes can be rinsed out and used many times.)Latex gloves. Mixing is messy and you don't want to get high-nic base on your skin; it can make you quite sick.A calculator for determining the volume of each component for your mix. Don't use mine, I found a math error that I haven't fixed yet. There's a thread here with a great calculator that also includes a ton of nice recipes and some 'how to' type information. I think that covers the basics at a high level. Look through other threads here to find suppliers and many good ideas. You may hear some conflicting advice but you'll soon determine what you'll want to try first. One thing that I'm figuring out that works well for me is to mix your flavoring together in a discrete bottle. Then you can experiment with PG/VG proportions, how much flavoring to add, etc without messing up a whole mix when you get it not-quite-perfect the first few tries. Also, you can mix with 0 nic base to test flavor and vapor properties before you commit your measure of nic base. Good luck, have fun, ask all your questions and vape on! You found the right place.

mcquinn that's just beautiful! What a pleasant photo man, thanks. Better start thinking where the boxes of recording gear are stored. Getting to hear that bad boy would be a pretty major pleasure man! My brother's been setting up a pretty satisfactory home recording kit using open source stuff. There's a lot of great hardware running OSS out there (and a predictable level of ripoffs). He's found some forums to guide purchasing too. It's pretty interesting from the 'gosh wow' perspective. -

Not for the first time! Well, you guys are being sensible, but what great innovation came from being ... sensible? It's sure true about the 'deep pockets' part -- such a thing would surely have many months of red operating until the word got around and you started to create your own demographic by introducing new vapers. I think it's a great idea, but would require enormous commitment. Edit: Considering the Starbucks issue; one thing they (or other franchise) have going against them is corporate inertia. They'd dither around for months worrying about whether vaping might be harmful or illegal before ever being in a position to copy this idea. I don't think they're much of a factor in the short term, which should provide some loyalty-building time. Particularly if your coffee was good! Drive through vaping? Maybe selling charged up disposables at the window? -

Well, first or second would be to order a spankin new and totally tricked out vette. Not sure what the other would be (or not telling?). -

I'm really pleased with all the positive replies to this idea. GDub, you make me smile, seem to be on a devil's advocate kick today. (That's friendly, man!) GDub does offer a valuable moderating influence however. If your community already has a number of coffee shops that appeal to the vaping demographic, they may take your idea and make it work for them, leaving you with a pile of debt and crashed dreams. On the other hand, and this is my preferred hand, if your area could support another coffee shop then vaping might be a very good way to promote its unique draw. And as others have said, selling e cig supplies would be a very good additional line. Do you have experience in the coffee boutique business? It's pretty expensive to get into if you're going to roast your own beans and stuff. Not like a brewery, but still. Not for the faint of heart. If you do decide to take the leap, I would like to drive up for your grand opening. Keep us posted. I bet a bunch of vapers would come from far and wide to support you. Count me in. Brian! How well I don't know you? You're a reader? I'm taking this offline. Huh. World of wonders. -
Well, I left a comment. But it has to be 'approved' by a 'moderator' before it'll appear. Here's what I wrote: Electronic cigarettes have harmed no one. Requiring these products to be approved by the FDA will only ensure that a few large companies dominate the market, forcing the small companies that truly drive innovation out of business. Sounds to me like NY is beholden to the tobacco lobby, instead of its constituents. Rather than ban something the state has failed to investigate in an unbiased manner, I recommend that NY state and any other jurisdiction conduct actual value studies (NOT funded by pharmaceutical or tobacco companies) conducted in a scientific manner with no predetermined results. This is clearly nothing more than a lobby effort to quash competition.

I saw that the other day too, that just turns me on. I could really dig flying to work in that bad boy! Hell, I'd fly it to the grocery store. $75K really isn't that bad a price for something that's so complex and made in such small batches. It it were to really catch on and undergo some miniaturization and mass production, it probably wouldn't cost much more than a decent car, and would look a lot better. One thing I think it really needs though is a foot rest. Yeah, that's counter to the Jet Pack meme, but this thing is kind of ... overlarge for a jet pack. So it wouldn't be hurt with someplace to stand. If I won the lottery, that'd be about the third place I'd go with a fistful of money. Thanks Brian, I can't wait until the movies are picking these things up. -
Nice job JamBone, I'm looking forward to your juicer too! Nice background in those last couple pics.

Welcome Newbie, nice to have you! Nice that you can spell "newbie" too! (just a nudge on gamers, sorry for going astray ) I had the same thought; if I was replacing tobacco, I expected to replace the tobacco flavor too. As it happened I found a tobacco flavor that I love, but I vape a lot of fruit flavors too. I haven't yet tried coffee or chocolate yet but they will be in my future. That's one of the best things about vaping, the pretty much constant inflow of possible new experiences. Have fun with your smorgasbord of flavors, and vape on!

Welcome Summ27, that's a good choice. One of the downsides most of us have endured is buying devices at first that titillate but don't quite satisfy; then we find our personal sweet spot and it's all good from there. But if you can find that right out of the gate you're miles ahead. I would also recommend carrying an extra fully charged battery and an extra atty at any time you're going to be away from home for more than a couple of hours. You just never know when that spare will come in handy. Have fun, learn all you can, and vape on! We're glad you're here.

We're safe man. Any water vapor that comes through out lungs will be absorbed. You probably laid by a vaporizer when you were a kid with a cold, that didn't hurt anything. Vaping won't either. It's cool.

Can someone tell me what kind of battery this freakin thing takes? Can't tell from the photo and the website gives no clue whatever. Thanks.

Since you're finding sources for 0 nic juice this may not be of interest, but you can also make your own and it's quite inexpensive. Check the DIY Liquid forum for ideas. Good luck and have fun!

Very cool mcquinn! You've been busy. That should be an inspiration for everyone!

That wasn't an attack man, sorry if it came off that way. I get rather upset when the topic of vaping bans comes up; all I really meant was that it's up to US to make sure our voice is heard - whenever and wherever trouble starts. There is nothing wrong with vaping; it harms no one, not even ourselves. Nobody has a right to tell us we cannot do it. Nobody. I don't like people telling me I can't do something that's bad for me; I sure as hel l won't let them try to tell me I can't do something totally harmless. I'm a very quiet and reserved person - unless threatened. Then the irresistible force comes out. In a situation where municipalities start banning e cigs, our strength in numbers could prove to be a dream; there are not very many vapers vs the population as a whole. We need to be very visible and outspoken, not just defensive. Perhaps we should find a way to be proactive about educating people at large rather than just responding to threats.

Cartomizer Terminology Assistance?
ddavelarsen replied to Brandon's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Too much has passed here for me to reply to everyone so let me just say, Y'all rock. Brandon I had the same thought! It probably was Brian who originally said the 901 adapter will work with KR cartos; leave it to Brian to know pretty much everything. I think my man has tried about every combination of parts one can try. BirdDog, thanks for reassuring me that I'm not just a collector. Yet more stuff to add to my list, eh Teri? Tektronic, your enthusiasm is catching! Yet another good addition to VT. You too Joe; we're lucky to have gained some very interested members lately. This place rules. Y'all rock. -
I'm with Chris. Anyone who just throws in the towel and says "they're" going to "ban" vaping must not vote. This sort of thing can be prevented either by voting, or by writing to your representatives - in mass - telling them the benefits of e cigs, clearing the air of FUD, and reminding them that you vote. Don't let a bunch of dimwit naysayers determine your rights. If you don't vote and speak out to your legislators, you're only helping bans get passed.

How Much Juice Do You Use On Average?
ddavelarsen replied to hardwired's topic in General Vaping Discussion
555 is your bet! Try it, I bet you'll love it. That's my primary vape for the same reason. -
Thanks Brandon! I can't wait to have them either... I hope Mark starts down this path too, that'd be just freakin ultimate. (Sorry man, but ... I'm like just a big gray kid. I couldn't wait. )

Way to go TeriJo! Yeah, moms are sure like that. Keep up the good work! I kinda miss mine, I'd have been turning her onto vaping in a heartbeat. But smoking got to her way before this came along. I'm actually older than my mom was when she got lung cancer. Hitting 56 was quite a hurdle, believe me. 66 is my next big one.
