  1. Great review Brian, I'm stoked that you're digging them too. I really think this is a game-changer. I'm a little jealous though -- I ordered some more magnums and a few drip tips, which also shipped Wednesday, but they're not here yet! I'm so sad. I'm really looking forward to trying those tips. This could be my perfect setup for the foreseeable future. Looking forward to that package like a little kid. As to battery life, I really have to say that I have not experienced any noticeable reduction in that regard. I know it's senseless to say I may get longer battery life with these, so I won't say it. No need to blow what little credibility I may have. I might just be vaping less, right? Probably.
  2. Welcome Robin! Brian sure took care of you didn't he? Watching the videos is probably the best way to get your hands around vaping quickly. Then everyone at VT will walk you through any later questions. There's sure a learning curve to find your satisfaction level, and that's different for everyone -- but the good thing is, pretty much anyone can find satisfaction vaping. Good luck making the switch and we're here for you anytime.
  3. Good God, what an awful human being. This gives me a terrible sense of futility and hopelessness. But come on, let's all fight this every way we can. We cannot let bills like this pass, it would set a precedent for every other idiot legislator out there. And I think there are almost as many of them are there are of us. We cannot afford to be reactive in this fight; we have to take it to them.
  4. Consider my card dropped! Go figure, as more baby boomers hit the streets the "senior" age is going up. For a brief moment there I was able to get the "senior" discount at local movie theaters, which was like going to a matinee anytime. But so many of us were taking advantage of that they bumped the age limit to 65... Kind of like Social Security. Actually I think over-50 folks would be one of vaping primary markets. Those of us who could quit with the traditional methods probably already have done; we're the hardcore nic addicts that vaping is meant for. But I applaud anyone who wants to get off tobacco, regardless their age! I think it's deeply cool that old-folks are interested too. It would be truly fine to be old and confined, and still able to enjoy (or allowed to enjoy again) nicotine and throat hit. What a wonderful technology!
  5. That's awesome Chris, thanks. This is what I expected actually. We hear a lot about poor quality of Chinese goods, and even experience some of that in our hardware, but the fact is that Chinese manufacturing can be as advanced as any in the world. That just doesn't make as good newsprint. I really appreciate this, as there are many challenges to nicotine base from China. What I've seen in terms of pure nicotine available, is that it's all graded to Western standards.
  6. Well Okay. I've been stocking up base nicotine and soon will have my target two-year supply. Then I'll expand that just a bit more before I go on inventory maintenance. Stocking up base eliminates the flavor dying consideration. This presumes DIY mixing, which I'm really trying to get to a satisfactory level. I don't think we need worry about device bans; that's not how it works. People still buy other smoking paraphernalia all the time. It's the nicotine that will be banned or regulated. The snus method doesn't actually extract much nicotine; that's mostly a flavor thing. I've seriously considered looking into the dry extraction method of deriving pure nicotine. That would probably take a pretty major lab setup, and under a ban might be as illegal as growing contraband, so not sure it'd be worth the risk and effort. (But don't forget, it's legal to distill one's own liquor; perhaps a ban would not prevent personal extraction of nicotine.) For sure, without a steady supply of nicotine base I'd be back on analogs. That would be a real tragedy, but it's what the lobbyists want. And could get. The only real hope we have in this regard is visibility and strength in numbers. Let's be sure to be proactive with our legislators -- don't wait for a ban bill to start up and react to that, but let's start writing them now, telling them what a life-saving technology e cigarettes are. Congress makes the laws every other department follows. We have to work with Congress NOW if we want to retain our healthy lifestyle. Meanwhile, stock up.
  7. Great post Brandon, thanks! There are all kinds of knifemaking applications for plating and etching but my real interest here was the earth battery idea... Hm... I could make a 5V earth battery, run a panel to my deck with USB ports in it, and vape ... all summer! Maybe I could make a big enough earth battery to run my 12V cooler... Hmm... I need to retire.
  8. Yes, that's what it's all about my man - makin money. At least we get the benefit of all this great innovation! Up until bankruptcy anyway...
  9. No kidding -- it's legislated anti-Darwinism. Not the best idea we've had, I'd agree.
  10. nana I was gonna try to say that and would have used too many words and just confused the issue. I mean it; you should have been captain of your debate team. Or a lawyer. Oh wait! You're a mom, now I get it!
  11. Moi?! Hell, I'll bring beer too, where we going? And I'll bring limes; why not? Can I bring my dog? Edit: Oh, Spank me! Getting off topic in Jeff's post!
  12. Well I hate being the last guy in the room, but what do you use the carbon rods for?
  13. More news on that. I finally changed the battery in my VP2 at 4:00 this afternoon. That's almost 48 hrs on the same battery. Not steady vaping mind you, but at least 50% of my vaping has been on the VP2. Maybe Brian got a +/- sign backwards?
  14. Me too! I had to come to the forum to see what its context was. This really is getting kind of exciting, isn't it? I bet Chris hasn't thought of how big his family really is...
  15. Pfffft! Let's not even start comparing hermit notes here ladies. I'll make you look like a coupla girls. You prolly don't even know what 'hermit' means; but I'm its definition. To the core. Put me on the top of a mountain with nobody else on the continent (with a lot of ice cream) and I'd be in heaven. It's all the people that make this planet so crowded. At least most of the good ones have found VT.
  16. Really? Secrets! Even from ... ME! See Brandon, you might want to think about this before you get in too deep. man. Some of these chicks ladies will lead you around by your nose! And trap you in your own words! I know this! For a fact.
  17. Way to go Brandon, that didn't take very long at all! Cripes, it seems like you just joined up the other day. You sure stepped in though, way to go! VT is a very special place, reflected in (or because of) the quality of its members. We may not be big, but we make up for that in spades with the character of our community.
  18. Wow, this much be like the only time in my entire vaping career I got in on something good before it went out of stock and hour later! I must be getting the hang of this. nana, I haven't really experienced noticeably reduced battery life. Maybe I'm crazy, or just unobservant, but I'm still on the same VP2 batt over 24 hrs later. I haven't been vaping that device 100%, but nearly so.
  19. Sounds like that might be about right, but I'm still vaping one battery on the VP2 and it's been 24 hrs. Not all using that device, but mostly it has been. I'm thinking it doesn't draw as much as it ... should? I dunno, but I'm seriously impressed. This is definitely a game changer. Oh - and when Brian told me he'd gotten some I went back to look again and viola! I ordered three of those wonders. And drip tips. Thanks Brian, I'm sure you saved me from the ultimate disappointment. Edit. Got order acknowledgement, then shipping notice a hour and twenty minutes later. Doesn't get much better than that! I'm psyched.
  20. What a cool idea man! Can't wait to see it. And no, I haven't done a review yet - nor even taken the pics I promised you. Fortunately, I live to far away to get spanked too bad. I'll get it done this weekend, I promise! I'm just so lazy.
  21. That's a good point, and to answer your question: maybe a little but not much (I think). Equivocal because I have mine on the VP2, and the VP2 has taken kind of a back seat to woodimus and the VP PT. I haven't vaped it exclusively for a full day yet. Today is about the longest time I've had with the VP2; the batt went in fresh last evening and I'm still vaping as strongly as ever as we speak. I kind of have that sense it's about to start to drop off, so maybe it has already. I'll let you know more this evening. If I get through the rest of the day with it then I'll be confident saying there's no real battery life issue. But even if it died the next hit I'd feel okay about battery life at this point. I gotta say, it's really a tease for Drew to put those things on the website out of stock! How cruel! I guess we'll all be in a contest to see who realizes it first when he gets them in again...
  22. Whoa... Is that like the worst piece of writing I've seen this year or what? Crimeny, shouldn't an editor take a look at this stuff, just for sentence structure if not for content? And can you really see teens taking up vaping? Really? I mean, this is not a cakewalk -- vaping takes commitment. I guess I could see some kids one-upping each other with the latest/greatest new device, but really. You think that's gonna catch on? Let's get real here; vaping is highly unlikely to appeal to anyone who isn't trying to quit tobacco. For the record: I am opposed to e cig sales to minors. That goes without saying. I'm also opposed to vilifying something for make-believe reasons. What a load of hooey.
