  1. I wasn't sure where to put this or even whether to post it, but honestly it kind of disturbs me and I wondered whether anyone else has gotten it. No, I haven't followed any of the links, and I've no idea what the scam is. Except it's e-cig related. You can try calling, and let me know. Anyway, I received the following email yesterday evening: "Please call to verify your address within the next 24 hours or we will ship your order to the address on file. Call now: 954-848-2580 (Mon thru Fri 9:am - 9:pm EST). Thank you. Luis S. Heaven only knows what would happen if you gave these people any actual information. I'm just curious if anyone else has seen this. I bet Brian will look up the address in Google Earth for me.
  2. Not too off topic for me! Here's where I'd get em: 510s at ENS He has stainless also, didn't know your preference.
  3. Yep, that's what I've come to too; just ditch em when they die. But that means I'm always sweating not having enough spares! Argh! Never ends, does it? I wonder if this is what led Chris to just start his own freakin store?
  4. Get outta here! Way to go man, that is downright awesome. DD rules! Congratulations, that's quite a milestone.
  5. Yes, excellent review! I don't read many juice reviews because they can never apply to me, but since it was you I had to check it out. Nicely done! Looking forward to more from you.
  6. Oh man! That's the word I've been looking for!!! In my house I don't have a very high SAF.
  7. Brandon and Tektronik, you guys crack me up! Okay, I have a little portavac I snagged when I was running janitors. I could hook that up to a whole panel full of atty's, just flip on the power, switch on the vac, and fry dry those babies out... Probably only take a few seconds to 'clean' all my stanky attys for a month!
  8. Bummer. That was looking good there for a minute. I think vaping is taking off so well that a lot of these vendors are having a difficult time keeping up, and if they're not careful things can fall apart fast. I hope Brendon's right that they have a chance to pull it back together...and then do it.
  9. Thanks Chris, it does seem like it would be hard on them but I guess when I think of them as disposable anyway, keeping the flavor happy is worth a little shorter life. It'll be interesting to see how much that is. Scruff, I have in fact done this a couple times to clear the atty when it was nearly flooded, but a better way in that case might be to just blow it out onto a paper towel, then re-drip and vape on... It can be frustrating when you get an atty that just won't put out the vapor, I know.
  10. Recently Brian started a thread about the stanky taste he's had with high-watt attys or high-voltage devices. The problem seems to be burnt juice accumulation around the coil. I've experienced the same thing, and over the last couple of weeks have devised a sort of field expedient cleaning method I wanted to run by the rest of you. I mentioned it in Brian's thread too but didn't get much traction. So here's the deal. Whenever I start getting a really nasty burnt taste in my atty, I'll start hitting it real hard repeatedly, like 'hot boxing' an analog. The vapor gets quite warm and smells really quite bad. I keep this up until the vapor starts to feel 'dry' and hot, then let the atty rest to cool back down to room temp. When I re-drip the flavor is back. Because this works and no other cleaning method I've tried has, I've stuck with it. I don't vape them completely dry, but they get pretty hot. I've done this primarily with 510s but with 302s too. I've had one 302 die, though I can't relate that to hot boxing it; one session it worked, the next it didn't, just like any other dead atty. It actually had more hours on it than the previous one that had died, which was before I started pushing them like this. My question is, what do you folks think this is likely to do to the life of my attys, if anything? Thanks,
  11. Welcome to Vapor Talk, Vapist! You've found a great place, as you can see. These vultures have left me nothing to help with , so I'll just say Congratulations on 50 days of non-smoking! That's great and we're glad to have you here. Join in the fun, you certainly have valuable experience to share!
  12. I'm sure glad you're feeling better Steven. Being sick sucks big time and like Brandon mentioned, suffering alone can make it feel even worse. I guess I'm not surprised that vaping hurt your throat and lungs, but I bet it wasn't as bad as smoke would have been. As to cleaning the tips, that's a good idea. I don't clean mine as often as I should either. I think it's time for a change in my bad habits too. Welcome back, it's good to hear from you.
  13. Hi Steve, and welcome to Vapor Talk! You've found a great place. Your USP glycerin is fine; the critical information is "USP" which means it's manufactured under strict guidelines and conforms to a rigorous specification. Be sure to join the DIY Liquid forum as you start mixing and someone there will be all happy to answer your other questions as they come up. You can buy additional flavorings (to bump the flavor that's thinned out (I'm having a vocabulary disfunction!) by adding VG and distilled water) in many hobby stores. I've found Lorann's candy flavorings to be very satisfactory. You may find them in the cake decorating section of a local Hobby Lobby or similar store. If not, you can order online and get the full selection of flavors. You will want to avoid flavorings that are oil-based however; only use water-soluble flavorings for best results. Have fun and vape on!
  14. Scott that's awesome. I PMed you with a couple of punctuation suggestions, but found nothing in this letter I'd change. I'm already thinking of a couple of coffee shops that are going to receive a 'local' copy of your letter. Fantastic work, thanks for doing the hard part.
  15. Man you guys must be OCD or something! I just wipe it all off on my t-shirt along with the bacon splatterings and move on. Okay, just kidding. But man, talk about leaving yourselves wide open! I have little bits of torn paper towel with little piles of draining attys and drying mouthpieces on them, but that's about it. I try to keep all the loose stuff in a little desk organizer thing with a couple of drawers in it; keeps my desk ... well, no. But it does help me find stuff I'm digging through the crap on my desk for. If I've put everything away. Which is sometimes the case. But I've also collected a bunch of 'larger' stuff like Pyramid tea box, pint of PG, buncha carts, etc that don't fit into any of the other PV-stuff boxes. Going to have to come up with a solution for that one of these days... My big and exciting score this weekend was a nice Pelican case! Oh man, that bad boy is just sweet. I'd seen one recommended here as a PV carry suggestion, but didn't like the yellow liner of the size that seemed most appropriate for the stuff we carry around. But the sporting goods store had a pretty good selection of small Pelican cases, so I settled for the next size up - with a black liner. Much more my style. And Woodimus fits right in it! Maybe some day I'll get to carry that around again... You think?
  16. Absolutely. I think most of that has to do with the calculated expected battery life. In practice, and this is only me, I have not noted a difference in battery life with the HW atty.
  17. Wow Jeri, that really nails it: "It bugs me beyond belief that they have badgered us with the "no smoking", have to quit smoking, second hand smoke kills, ban smoking here and ban smoking there, etc, campaigns that they been pushing at us and when we finally find a way to quit smoking that really and truly works...they want to take it away from us." I've experienced the situation where "Vaping = Smoking". Vaping looks so much like smoking that honestly, I think people who don't vape or smoke have no idea, really!, that it's not just the same thing. My wife is a perfect example: She just thinks of it as a different way to smoke. Even Jeso's son the other day referred to vaping as "smoking." It's a very honest but deeply unfortunate thing that the one aspect of vaping that makes it so successful (the vapor), incriminates it. This is a perfect example of the cliche, "Sad but true." I honestly don't know how to combat this, other than education, and that's very hard to do with someone who's already made up their mind. If I may succumb to understatement.
  18. Thanks Jeff. I wonder if I'm just unusually picky? One of the biggest thrills for me in vaping is the flavor. I'm just completely blown away with this. We talk about flavor a lot, and we've come to accept that as part of the whole deal, and we often remark how much better vaping tastes than smoking does. So I guess this is why when I get that awful taste I try so hard to get it back; I've never forgotten this most crucial aspect of our lifestyle, that vaping tastes good. I've tried virtually every way I've ever heard to clean attys. I know that restoring their flavor is only one reason to clean an atty, but it's often been my primary one; I really love those few special flavorful hits after breaking in a new atty -- that's just the cat's meow. So I want pure clean flavor all the time. Because I haven't been doing it all that long, I don't know if 'hot boxing' my attys is going to reduce their life. I do think it goes a long way to getting better flavor out of my equipment, and for now anyway I'm prepared to wait and see if it reduces their life noticeably. If it does, I reserve the right to go back to just ... living with bad taste. Because I'm also really cheap. One thing about burning the old juice out of an atty though that I don't mention much, is how freakin awful it tastes and smells! Yes, I can smell the acrid burning old juice as I'm trying to eradicate if from my device; and the taste is despicable! Really. But so far it seems to make a significant difference for me. (Oh -- and I cannot see myself doing this at my desk at work. Yikes! That would definitely bring some undesired attention. That's a practice I'll have to go to my car to undertake, because the huge cloud of stinky vapor is not a good advertisement. )
  19. Uma, you are my hero for today. 100% on board. Thank you.
  20. How do you resolve it, if you do Jeff? Just curious.
  21. We're nothing if not adaptable, huh? You gotta admit, humans don't let much get in their way.
  22. Welcome Peach! You have definately found the right place to ask your questions; VT is the most welcoming and helpful community around and we're here to help you succeed. You've gotten a ton of good advice to get digging into so I'll leave you with that and a hearty Congratulation! on looking to quit or cut down on smoking. By the way, "Eat a Peach" is one of my favorite albums of all time. Don't know whether that's your reference but it sure brought back a lot of happy memories for me.
  23. Hi Brian, I'll be happy to step in here. I have frequently used a 510 on my VP PT and yes; I do get the burnt taste. Mentioned in your other thread too, but I've taken to a rather harsh and potentially destructive (?) method to restore the flavor, and I actually started doing that as a result of vaping on the VP PT - my first 5V unit. This has also presented itself with 302s on Woodimus (I decline to call it "Woody" due to the cascade of innuendo that inevitably follows that usage One learns.). Perhaps you have something here. Now, is it gonna prevent me vaping 5/6V or high-wattage? No way, no how. I'll just live with the admittedly less-than-ideal 'hot box' restoration method. I'm looking forward to other thoughts on this, great thread Brian!
  24. Brian, I have the same experience (burnt juice accumulation, for want of a better term for now), but with pretty much all my attys. This may be because I haven't vaped much at 3.7V for a while, other than going back to it with the magnum atty recently. So perhaps this does have to do with higher wattage? Could be. Even so, I've been doing this "dry burn" thing for quite some time without really thinking much about it. When I begin to taste that sharp rank juice, I just start hitting the thing hard, like 'hot boxing' an analog, to burn the stuff out. It gets HOT, and I stop when the cloud starts getting hot and 'dry' (to the extent you can define 'dry' vapor). Then I let the atty cool down and it seems to be restored to delivering good flavor again - for a while. This process has become so automatic for me that I really haven't thought about it much, except to wonder whether it's maybe shortening the life of my attys. I'd thought about bringing that question here, but you saved me the typing (mostly ), so thanks! Alas, I've no experience to share regarding the drip tips, as I live much further from NHaler than you do, and mine have not yet been delivered. Sigh. My thought though, is that if I have to remove it to clean up condensation less often than I remove my regular mouthpiece to drip, I'll still be somewhat ahead. I hope that's true.
  25. Thanks Brian, I think a lot of us would have wondered the same thing and possibly tried it without asking about consequences first. Thanks Jeso and Chris for following up, too.
