ddavelarsen replied to kitsune's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Wow, that sounds like another great combination! -
Exactly so.

What Flavor Are You Vaping Right Now?

Wow, that really sounds good! I think I might whip out some DIY stuff and see what I can come up with. -
That's really interesting man. Personally I think it adds to its personality. If you don't want it anymore, I'll send you my address.

Vaping And The Visually Impaired
ddavelarsen replied to Phaseman66's topic in General Vaping Discussion
True to form FTJoe preempted what I was gonna say again. I think cartos would be a great way to go, if they're not to expensive. We had this topic a few months ago and I don't believe we came to a decent resolution. But that was before 510 cartos were available, which I think would be a viable solution. Good luck to your wife's friend and please keep us posted how it turns out. -
Hey, don't sweat that until you've tried them! My taste is shot, I use a LOT of concentrated flavor for my use, which seems to work for other people too. But that doesn't mean it'll be true for you. Give them a chance, for sure. I really recommend Perfumer's Apprentice. Great folks and wonderful flavors. I found Lorann's at a local Hobby Lobby. Don't know if you have one close by but might be worth a try. That's the only place I've found any kind of flavoring around here - and believe me I've asked everywhere! Boy, I've gotten some funny looks. Guys aren't supposed to ask for stuff like that. Especially not *** ones.

You're going to dig it Sensay. Making your own juice is a real accomplishment when it goes well. One good recommendation is to do like Jeff and others recently have done, and buy a DIY kit from one of the vendors. DIY Flavor Shack sells one that sounds quite good. I think you might save some money just on figuring out what 'things' you will use when you're mixing, rather than like me buying everything in sight and not using 2/3 of it. Flavoring is key; I think you're best off with very concentrated flavoring like Flavour Art and (some won't agree) Lorann's. I've used some food flavoring such as Fairy's Finest that isn't powerful enough for me to get the strength of flavor that I want. This is just a suggestion, many other people know far more than I do about this. Almost everyone in fact. But I'm really quite opinionated about flavorings! Have fun and please share your stories with us. Now I better get back to work...

How To Test An E-Cig For Durability. Not
ddavelarsen replied to StringDancer's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Cool story Stringdancer! Thanks for sharing, nice to know the eGo is a hearty device. Congratulations on (presumably) getting that grandkid's swingset put together! -
Sounds to me like a very thin plating. I can't imagine what it'd be that would tarnish, unless it's actually silver. A thin silver plating could easily wipe off with polish though. Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Yo jtalpha. The coughing up a lung might well be a newbie thing; I didn't have that problem but you should have seen my son's eyes watering after he picked his lungs off the floor the first time! As to the J stick, can't help, that's another device I haven't tried yet. I do seem to remember though that others are using 510s with theirs. Hope I'm right; surely someone who actually knows what they're talking about will chime in here shortly. Good luck, keep asking questions - eventually you hit on one I can answer!

You know, I've been sitting here this weekend wondering what to add to some of these great new tobacco flavors (thanks Lisa!). I came by to add a comment for kitsune, and decided to start reading from the top; what do I find?! Perfect, Beckster. Guess what I'll be doing one evening this week? I gotta try that. Kitsune, I tried this one finally this weekend and wow! this is great. I made about 3ml of just the flavoring, vaped half of it, and came back last night to add a couple drops Lorann Marshmallow and a couple drops PA Sweet Cream. Wanted to see if I could sweeten up that Lorann Coffee I used. Haven't tried it yet, letting the cartomizer it's in soak for a while but I think that's gonna tweak it to my personal perfection. We'll see. This was the first time I've used the Lorann Coffee, and it seems like strong stuff to me. It's a true coffee taste though, and a wonderful wakeup vape. If anyone's interested, I somehow managed to buy 8 freakin ounces of this stuff and am perfectly happy sharing with one and all. Just PM me if interested. I bought a few mailers yesterday because I had some stuff to send out today (), so no problem getting it in the mail quickly. I've probably said this before but I've taken to mixing the flavoring separate from any kind of base, and then adding to either nic base or to just straight VG/PG for taste testing. I make only 3 ml first go round, which makes scaling it up easier if I take good notes (and it's worth scaling up). When I've hit something I like, I usually mix 30 ml of just the flavoring to add to nic later. Works well for me. Good thread Beckster, I'd like to see it keep going!

Looking To Get Organized - Tackle Box?
ddavelarsen replied to FTJoe's topic in General Vaping Discussion
What a guy! That would be a wonderful way to store your stuff, especially if you had it set up in a place where you could do all the work. I hadn't thought of that, but I kind of "collect" Kennedy tool chests; one of those would make an awesome vaping cabinet! -
Awesome Wright! You must be getting quite a collection now! I'm totally psyched about my son finally giving this a chance. You'd wouldn't believe (or maybe you would) the expression of suspicion on his face when I'd talk about vaping. Maybe the fact I'm still doing it is what convinced him to try. Well, that and he's cheap and he sees this as a way to save money (foolish man!).

Sorry Jeff, I was also ordering a boatload of batteries for our solar yard lights, and that place had the best price I'd been able to find, like 69c each. So I wanted to order from them and just sucked up my own issue to get it done... I'm a slave, I admit it. I did find those batts a number of places but none of them for whatever reason had batteries that seemed like my solar cells would be able to charge them. Kind of convoluted reasoning, but that's what came down. Edit: Actually, I'll be ordering some stuff from NHaler for my son, so I'll see about snagging a couple IMR18650s then. See? That worked out perfectly.
-
Well since I couldn't find the IMR18650s at all-battery I ended up with regular ole protected ones. They're 2600 mAh, though so I shouldn't have to change them very often. And I got a charger that will do both 19850s and RCR123s, so now I'll have a spare charger for the RCR123s. Backups have been on my mind a lot lately, and worrying about not being able to charge batteries has been an issue. At least now I have a backup charger for one battery type. It really never ends, does it?
-
Thanks a million guys! I guess it's time for my order, I appreciate the input. Jeff I'll see if they have the high drain batts, that sounds like a great idea.
-
It looks to me like "cylindrical" batteries don't have the little nub on the positive terminal. I could be wrong, and please correct me if so. I'm at all-battery.com doing some shopping and here's what I'm looking at, 18650s: 18650s Will these cylindrical batts work in a normal, everyday mod? I think Woody's positive terminal looks like it stands proud enough to make contact even if these don't have the little nub, but just want to make sure. Also, any opinion on the high-mah batts? Thanks!

Not to be redundant, but to support FTJoe on this one - 510 kit highly recommended over blu. The difference is in the amount of vapor you'll get, which will 'feel' much more like smoking so give you much greater satisfaction.
-
Thanks all, this is good info. We've bought his kit, now on to attys and probably an extra battery or two. I'm psyched! I hope it works out for him. I don't know how he could go wrong with his old man keeping him lined up. I'm probably going to be making most of his juice. I got a kick out of him ordering liquid tonight, he always went for tobacco flavors... You sure gotta love newbies.
-
I haven't tried the everclear method but that's on my agenda. The way I do a dry burn is a little different than what you'll hear from others or see in videos. I start hitting it repeatedly with no juice, and keep that up until the vapor begins to feel a little 'dry.' Then I let off the battery and keep drawing a few times to cool down that coil. Then repeat until little or no vapor remains. Be sure to prime it well with four or so drops of juice before you turn it on again, and it might take a few more drops to start getting flavor again. Be aware that you can kill an atty this way. Mostly I only do this on LR attys that tend to build up a pretty noticeable burnt taste after a few days, and once this starts then it's burn time at least once a day until it dies. I would say that my LR attys do not last as long as normal 510s; this could well be because of the dry burn regimen.
-
Thanks Jeff! Now, bite me, I can't find LR 510s. Where's the best deal on those bad boys? I guess I could go inside and check my receipts, but it's such a beautiful evening I don't want to leave the deck. Thank heaven for the iPad! I want to get him drip tips too, of course...

Thanks Christopher!

Where's the best place to buy an eGo kit? My son has decided to take the plunge into vaping and that seems to be the best alternative for his lifestyle. Looking forward to your suggestions.
