Well, I get great TH from 6V. I wonder if like other attys carto performance depends on mfr? And how could one tell which is which? Anyway, I'm sold. I'm sure not getting a month's life out of them though; more like a week of vaping. Mainspring, it sounds to me as if you're not getting them full. I use the condom method for filling and get about 1.5 ml per fill, maybe a bit more. I've noticed too that I don't get much action unless I've let them sit overnight - or at least a couple of hours - after filling. Edit: kitsune, I usually get nearly a full day's vaping out of one fill. Sometimes I switch off flavors though, and I've noticed that if a half-filled carto is left to sit too long it might not fill completely the next try. But it will vape off if you continue hitting it later. I think. Still in the experimental stage a bit.

Guess I'm on the out side again! I prefer the condom method for filling just because its so much faster. It can be messy though. Needles just don't work for me because I use a lot of VG (high voltage) in my mixes. Dripping does work very well if you're patient and have all the time in the world. Glad you like them Kragax, we're in the same boat. I haven't used anything else since I tried the first one. I suppose at 3.7V I'd be using LR 510s, but for 6V cartos are the bomb.

May I be the fly in the ointment? Of course I may, particularly since it's now moot, eh? If my potential buddy ProfBeard were here he'd be saying Screwdriver to the rooftops. It's a solid, dependable, proven device. I will admit the eGo is sweet too, and you're going to like it cr2. Particularly if you ordered some LR 510s to go with it. But it's true that there are no Screwdriver users that I know of in this forum, which kind of skewed the recommendations in one direction. It's enough to make me wish I had gotten the payoff on that lottery ticket last week! But alas; a wasted dollar like they all are, and no Screwdriver for me.

That's a beautiful mod! The button placement would bug me (my brother's S6 bugs me too) but that is fantastic and the level of your construction is beyond reproach; you work like a craftsman, and it shows. I noticed too that we have similar wedding rings -- well, or had. I got so fat I had to have mine cut off and buy a larger one -- several years back. Let's hope you hang onto your youthful form factor better than I did. Getting old is not all it's cracked up to be. I just keep hoping that when I get really old, I get skinny again like those other really old guys I see hobbling about the grocery store.

Assault On The Us Constitution

We both get excited about the Constitution, and our bunch is really good about that! I suspect if anything you got this thread going again, which would be just fine by me -- we have a bunch of new members. -

Wow Chris, I am one of those Pollyanna types that never think of the obvious. That is so true I've looked right through it all along -- that "people must have nothing to fight for something," that they'll finally stand up only when death looks certain otherwise. You are all too right, and it explains why we have this whole sheeple thing going with our government. I've never understood why voters don't just throw the whole lot out and start over; but that explains it. It's easier to go along with the status quo than to put out the effort to become informed and involved. At least as long as they get to consume wholeheartedly. Hm. LOL! That's the best description of the sentiment I've ever heard! I'm keeping it. Thanks Chris, I appreciate your comments. -
Oddly enough I've thought about that before and it looks like about $70 on eBay with shipping. A bit more than plugging into my computer or the wall adaptor. But it sure would let you experiment!

Oh my kitsune, Congratulations on your first year vaping! That is one helluva milestone -- I'm proud of you! But even better, you kept coming back here and sharing your hard-earned experience even after you didn't need help anymore. That's the kind of character that makes VT so great. Thanks for your wonderful contributions and I hope you keep it up; I'm leaning on you!
-
kitsune's wonderful ain't she? I sure hear a lot of stories about over-tightening attys, even before I got very far into vaping, so I've always been quite careful how tight I make them. Essentially all I do is run them down until they make contact. Yeah, sometimes they rattle around a bit on there, but as long as they're working I figure I'm gold. So far so good, too. So here's a +1 on loosening that grip! But I always enjoy shaking hands with someone who has a strong grip. My dad is 84 years old and only recently has he gotten where he didn't about bring me to my knees when I shook his hand. And I'm not a small guy.

Okay, point taken. Anyone know what the current is limited to? That should be applied in the calculations. This is good stuff miatafrank, something I've never understood but can get a handle on for once. Thanks! With kitsune's description how to measure an atty's resistance, I will probably be able to figure out how to maximize my experience. I'm vaping a cartomizer at 6V, which is my golden ratio in practice; how does a carto stack up against a regular atty? I don't have an ohm meter. And now let's figure out that current limiter issue. Isn't that info published somewhere with battery specs? I'm using RCR123As, which are protected, so I'm probably not getting the effect of real 6V; something I need to know too.
-
Wow Vape thanks; that made it worthwhile.
-
If it would let me I'd give you +2 for that kitsune! I've been trying to get people to tell me how to do that for months on here and no one ever takes me up on it. Maybe they think I'm kidding. Anyway, thanks! I actually printed the notification of this so I'd have the instructions in my vaping folder for when I try it myself. You absolutely rock! Thank you.

Wish I knew what the flashes codes were for that charger but I sure don't. One of our suppliers might, but I don't know if they're allowed to post. Perhaps someone will PM you with the definitions. Meanwhile it sounds to me like it's just time to replace the batteries. Even new ones can go bad. But I admit my experience is limited. Really I only posted because I like the sound of my own voice so much. (Just kidding.) Good luck.

I'd been think I saw this here but I guess someone sent it in email. I laughed my keester onto the floor on this, and then called Jeanie in to laugh hers off. What a riot! -
Hard question to answer. If you add the cost of the components of a 6ml bottle of eliquid it's about $5 for me. But it costs a hell of a lot up front to get set up for mixing, much like getting set up for vaping. It's a double-edged sword, but many of the components you must buy up front will be used many times before they're exhausted. You have to decide what's the cost of your money being invested in DIY supplies, and whether that is less than the price difference to commercial liquid. One thing about DIY, and the reason I do it, is that you can completely control how it's mixed. I tweak mine for high voltage, for example, and get better results than the HV liquid I've purchased commercially. I'm slowly figuring out what 'tools' I need to use; syringe is the most important one, since I'm trying to mix to replicable standards. If you want to be able to replicate that special lucky accident, you have to take copious and detailed notes -- all the time. Jeff it sounds to me like that kit was worth every penny. I'd love to have a couple little funnels for example, and don't. I hope you'll keep us posted how your mixing goes, and will share your recipes as you develop them. Thanks for a great review.

I'd say this is completely new to me. Do you exhale through your nose? If not, I don't think it's caused by vaping and if you do, I still don't think so. Pretty scientific, eh? The reason I say this is that vapor is generally warm and humid, which doesn't seem like it would cause mucus membranes to dry out to the point they'd bleed. If you exhale through your nose perhaps it could be due to a sensitivity to PG. If so, you could try changing your method to see if the nose bleeds stop. If they don't stop, see a doctor. Really. Good luck!

I agree with Dayvape, Nero and snubber about blowing the primer out first, but since you've already figured that out I just said it because I wanted to copy snubber, because that was so cool. Now I'm in the cool club too. How cool can I be?! Sorry. The stanky flavor you get with LR attys is common, and it's driven many otherwise good folks away from them. I think very sweet liquid might be worse in them. My approach is to dry burn them almost dry when that starts, which helps to revive the better flavor. But I think that also probably reduces their life. It's a tradeoff, but I wouldn't vape 3.7V with anything else. Good luck with your new eGo! Have fun and vape on.

Exciting! Now I'll finish reading the posts...

Kragax, I think the VG I use with 20% distilled water. I don't know that it has any effect on vaping quality, only in making the VG easier to handle. I've tried everclear too for TH, and didn't think much of it personally. This probably is another of those cases of personal preference. Hope this helps.

I got this in email today, just thought I'd share. Ijust wanted to get the day over with and go down to Smokey's. Sneaking a look at my watch, I saw the time, 1655. Five minutesto go before the cemetery gates are closed for the day. Fulldress was hot in the August sun. Oklahoma summertime was as badas ever--the heat and humidity at the same level--both too high. Isaw the car pull into the drive, a '69 or '70 model CadillacDeville, looked factory-new. It pulled into the parking lot ata snail's pace.. An old woman got out so slowly I thought shewas paralyzed; she had a cane and a sheaf of flowers--about four orfive bunches as best I could tell. Icouldn't help myself. The thought came unwanted, and left aslightly bitter taste: 'She's going to spend an hour, and for thisold soldier, my hip hurts like hell and I'm ready to get out of hereright now!' But for this day, my duty was to assist anyonecoming in. Kevinwould lock the 'In' gate and if I could hurry the old biddy along, wemight make it to Smokey's in time. Ibroke post attention. My hip made gritty noises when I took thefirst step and the pain went up a notch. I must have madea real military sight: middle-aged man with a small pot gut and halfa limp, in marine full-dress uniform, which had lost its razor creaseabout thirty minutes after I began the watch at the cemetery. Istopped in front of her, halfway up the walk. She looked up at mewith an old woman's squint. 'Ma'am,may I assist you in any way?' Shetook long enough to answer. 'Yes,son. Can you carry these flowers? I seem to be moving a tad slowthese days.' 'Mypleasure, ma'am.' Well, it wasn't too much of a lie. Shelooked again. 'Marine, where were you stationed?' 'Vietnam,ma'am.. Ground-pounder. '69 to '71.' Shelooked at me closer. 'Wounded in action, I see. Welldone, Marine. I'll be as quick as I can.' Ilied a little bigger: 'No hurry, ma'am.' Shesmiled and winked at me. 'Son, I'm 85-years-old and I can tella lie from a long way off.. Let's get this done. Might bethe last time I can do this. My name's Joanne Wieserman, andI've a few Marines I'd like to see one more time.' 'Yes,ma 'am. At your service.' Sheheaded for the World War I section, stopping at a stone. Shepicked one of the flowers out of my arm and laid it on top of thestone. She murmured something I couldn't quite makeout.. The name on the marble was Donald S. Davidson, USMC:France 1918. Sheturned away and made a straight line for the World War II section, stopping at one stone. I saw a tear slowly tracking its waydown her cheek. She put a bunch on a stone; the name was Stephen X.Davidson, USMC, 1943. Shewent up the row a ways and laid another bunch on a stone, Stanley J. Wieserman, USMC, 1944. Shepaused for a second. 'Two more, son, and we'll be done' Ialmost didn't say anything, but, 'Yes, ma'am. Take your time.' Shelooked confused.. 'Where's the Vietnam section, son? I seem to have lost my way.' Ipointed with my chin. 'That way, ma'am.' 'Oh!',she chuckled quietly. 'Son, me and old age ain't toofriendly.' Sheheaded down the walk I'd pointed at. She stopped at a couple ofstones before she found the ones she wanted. She placed a bunchon Larry Wieserman, USMC, 1968, and the last on DarrelWieserman, USMC, 1970. She stood there and murmured a few wordsI still couldn't make out. 'OK,son, I'm finished. Get me back to my car and you can go home.' Yes,ma'am. If I may ask, were those your kinfolk?' Shepaused. 'Yes, Donald Davidson was my father, Stephen was my uncle, Stanley was my husband, Larry and Darrel were our sons. All killed inaction, all Marines.' Shestopped. Whether she had finished, or couldn't finish, I don'tknow. She made her way to her car, slowly and painfully. Iwaited for a polite distance to come between us and then double-timedit over to Kevin, waiting by the car. Getto the 'Out' gate quick.. I have something I've got to do.' Kevinstarted to say something, but saw the look I gave him. He brokethe rules to get us there down the service road. We beat her. She hadn't made it around the rotunda yet. 'Kevin, stand at attention next to the gatepost. Follow my lead.' Ihumped it across the drive to the other post. Whenthe Cadillac came puttering around from the hedges and began theshort straight traverse to the gate, I called in my best gunny'svoice: 'TehenHut! Present Haaaarms!' Ihave to hand it to Kevin; he never blinked an eye-- full dressattention and a salute that would make his DI proud. Shedrove through that gate with two old worn-out soldiers giving her asend-off she deserved, for service rendered to her country, and forknowing duty, honor and sacrifice. Iam not sure, but I think I saw a salute returned from that Cadillac.

FTJoe, you've done it again, taken the words right out of my mouth. If we had more legislators like this man we would have America again. Thanks Chris for the very uplifting moment. (For all the difference it made is what govt does.) Here's an incumbent I would never feel compelled to vote out of office. -

That's kind of the FDA catch 22; they won't consider it as a stop-smoking aid until someone does all the studies to prove it works and then pays the FDA tax to buy their approval. That won't happen until tobacco has gotten its stranglehold on the market. And until the FDA gives its stamp of ignorant approval, we can't talk about e cigs as a stop smoking aid. I guess its more a chicken and egg deal than Catch 22, but you get the drift.
