Hardly the case. I am merely suggesting that distilled water in an ultrasonic cleaner has worked fine for me. My attys come out as clean as I could hope for (I haven't dissected one after a cleaning to get a good look at some of the harder to see parts, but everything that is immediately visible looks shiny and new) and I have the peace of mind knowing that chemical residue is not at all an issue. Also I should mention that I have only tried it a couple of times as I just borrowed a jewelry cleaner to try it for a week. I am equally pleased with the results from rinsing them out with boiling water, so take that for what it is worth as well. As to the air compressor, I use the compressed air to blow my attys dry after I clean them with my method of choice. Just a good way to dry them off quickly, that way I don't have to let them dry overnight.

A little off topic here but I'd rock some serious flight simulators on that rig! Once you go multi-display you can never go back.

Very Cool link. I keep wanting to take a stab at making my own e-juice just haven't gotten around to it.

Great advice... especially on having some spare atomizers. Trust me on this one, your atty will die when you least expect it. I had one die on an out of town business trip once and ended up going back to analog cigs for over a month because I did not have a spare with me. The 510 is a highly regarded and favorite starter e-cig on this forum, so I think you made the right choice. Good Luck!

I've heard of people using things like denture cleaner as well. I personally stick to distilled water. Just remember a combination of chemicals that is safe in liquid form may not be so safe once it's vaporized and inhaled. Honestly I think you're making it a little harder on yourself than you need to. Atomizers will eventually die no matter how well you care for them, with their current designs I doubt that any specialized chemical cleaner will keep them running indefinitely. I say play it on the safe side, use distilled water and replace them when they finally stop working to your satisfaction. Ordering in bulk will help cut costs on them as well. Just my 2 cents.

As to the canned air, they add a bittering agent to discourage inhalation. I doubt it's especially harmful, but trust me you don't want your atty to taste like it. If you don't own a small air compressor you may want to consider purchasing one to dry your attys after you clean them, the nice part is you can also use it to air up your car / bike tires, etc. Here's a cheap one... http://www.amazon.com/Campbell-Hausfeld-FP2028-Compressor-Accessory/dp/B000BOCBAM/ref=pd_cp_hi_3

Nice, my only complaint is it looks like some $.99 adapters I've seen sold on Ebay and Amazon and in my experience they don't last long at all. For a minimal price difference I think given the choice I would choose the one I got at Target,it just feels much sturdier than many car adapters I've had in the past. Also I like having a physical location to return it to should there be any problems, but still that is most definitely another option. Again, good find!

I'm glad this is something you guys are looking into carrying on the VT Store, I think people will be very happy to have somewhere to find a good car adapter that runs a full 2Amps just like the AC adapter that comes with the VP PT. Maybe a 5V 2A car adapter is more common that I think, but I actually had a hard time finding detailed specs for adapters when shopping online. I think if you get one that is meant to power a GPS system it will supply right about 2Amps of current as most of those devices require it. The one I linked is actually a dual USB with one of the connections being mini USB which is perfect for me as I can charge my cell phone at the same time.

I just got my VP PT yesterday and I absolutely love it. I'm on the road a lot and while I'm happy with the performance of my VP1 I'm just loving the full 5V vaping experience so much I wanted a way to take it in the car. I picked up a nice little car adapter at Target tonight and it works great. Says it puts out 5Volts @ 2Amps and I believe it (though I haven't hook up a multimeter to be sure). The PT works great with it, at about $25 it's a little pricey but it feels very sturdy at least. Here's the link... http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/175-2268252-8422429?ASIN=B00268BX3C&AFID=Froogle&LNM=B00268BX3C|Speck_Products_Roadduo_Car_Charger_Black_CLAUSBBLK&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=B00268BX3C&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001 Anyone else doing the same thing? Know of any cheaper adapters that run a full 2Amps?

I haven't tried the 510s yet, but I just got my VP Passthrough yesterday and I do have to say the higher voltages will amplify shortcomings / high points of both your atomizer and juice. I have been using both 801 HBs and the BE112 which appears to be to be a low bridge atty, and where I really noticed no difference between the two at 3.7 volts at the full 5V the BE112s really seem to shine and the 801 HBs just don't seem to perform nearly as well. I'll be checking out the 510 next time I order attys but I have to say the BE112 at 5V is still smooth but really kicks out some serious vapor clouds.

Unfortunately those laws will prohibit you from purchasing from China. You may be able to find a supplier that is willing to sell you the item, but if customs confiscate the items you'll be out the money with nothing to show for it. Staying on top of the new proposed legislations and voicing your opinion to your government representatives is really the best defense against this right now. -
I've never used the screwdriver myself, but it sounds like the real issue here is your carts leaking. Do you top them off before storing the unit (overnight, etc.)? Have you tried the direct drip method? Eliminating the carts from the situation may eliminate your problem. Just a thought. As to the melting of a cartridge... that's a little scary, you may want to remove you atomizer when not using it, or find something you can use to store the screwdriver that prevents it from switching on.

Absolutely no clue about shipping to other countries, but in my experience customs can rain on your parade. As far as airline travel goes, I travel frequently for work and I don't use my e-cig in plain sight once I'm inside the terminal until I get out of the terminal at my destination. An airplane bathroom is a perfect place if you need a nic fix. I've never pushed the issue of using it publicly as I feel like if it even upsets one other traveler who does not know what it is it's just not the right thing to do. People can be unreasonable and scared of things they don't understand, especially when travelling, so I choose not to put myself in a situation like that.

Do it, the more reviews the better. This forum isn't about catering to one group of e-cig users, all opinions and points of view should be shared. Most people using this forum to decide if e-cigs are right for them are probably not looking to buy the higher end models to give it a try. I think many people here would agree that they started with a fairly inexpensive starter kit to see if it was right for them before purchasing units like the VP2, etc.

Your confusion is understandable (oxymoron?). For me when trying to understand government regulations / laws I tend to stick to the Golden Rule, those who have the gold make the rules. Tobacco is big business, they have entrenched themselves into our government through lobbyists and political donations, and if they see a product as threatening their sales it makes sense they would do anything they can to stop it. Those glass pipes they sell at "tobacco" shops do not cut into their profits... e-cigs just may. -
I found some 801 battery connectors/threads - http://www.heaven-gifts.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&goodsid=367&productname= So I was thinking just a USB cable, a pushbutton switch, one of those battery connectors, and some kind of housing and you have you own DIY 5V PT, anyone see any problems with that? I have like 3 or 4 of those AC Wall adapters that kick out to USB sitting around anyway, so seems to me this is almost too easy not to try. Thoughts...?

I feel you on the G.A.S. I suffer from it as well. I'm into all things Pro Audio / Video myself, so if you ever want to chat about gear hit me up.

Agreed. I can already tell I'll be purchasing new units that I don't necessarily need simply because I want to check them out. I'm very happy with my VP1, but I'm already looking to purchase a nice 5V PT, and I can't wait to see the new VP3.

I'm generally not a big fan of skins. I can see where it appeals to people, but for me I'm just too obsessive compulsive for them. As soon as there is the slightest blemish, or it starts pulling away at an edge I just rip them off.

Great article. Let's hope all those tobacco lobbyists in Washington don't F*&! this up for the rest of us. -
Ordered the Grape Soda and Dulcis yesterday, and I can't wait to give them a go. I know my wife will hijack the Grape Soda from me!

DietSmokes actually has their own thread on this forum... http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/index.php?/forum/132-diet-smokes/ Doesn't seem very active at the moment, I believe the most recent post was Oct 28th, so I'm not really sure how much good it will do for you in this particular instance.

I'm all for saving power, it helps out everyone. Here's hoping technology can catch up to the new power restrictions by the time they take effect, if so consumers could benefit greatly from reduced power bills thanks to legislation forcing manufacturers to make devices with the same performance on less power. I feel pretty confident that if the manufacturers simply cannot meet these goals without compromising their products the power limits will be restructured in a way that allows the devices to be sold. Consumer electronics make up a fair share of our public spending and the economy doesn't need any more set backs. When I was a kid growing up in Colorado we couldn't buy the really cool fireworks, so we drove to Wyoming and bought them there. I imagine if this goes badly you will see the same thing happen for TVs. Need a new 60", take a road trip! -
Yeah, a couple months back the paintball bug bit me, and I started looking into adding some more mods to my auto-cocker. I had forgotten how expensive the mods are for the auto-cocker and since it's one of the older models the parts are harder to find. That led me to look into just purchasing a brand new marker, it actually works out cheaper that way to get the features I want. But I'm a victim to my own techno-lust, so trust me it will still be an expensive purchase when I make it!

Right on, that's what this forum is all about!
