Totally new to vaporizers , looking for a good mod under $80
Tam replied to vaporghost's topic in Variable Voltage & Wattage
Ah... so it was nickel. Somehow that just didn't sound right tonight. lol Thanks, Jason, for the explanation. -
In the first Triton, I tried the .4 ohm coil and the 1.8 ohm coil and I had the same problem. In all fairness, it also might be the juice but that's highly unlikely, it's 3 mg 40 PG/60 VG. The Triton should be able to handle that with ease. Before you rip it apart, play nice with it to see if you can't get it working. Then, if it's being a bitch, take the BFH to it.

But to use in the temperature control mode, you need different wire than kanthal, correct? -
You were keeping the contacts clean and dry, right, Jeff? And it still auto-fired?

Hey Earthling, about the temperature control mods. Can you use kanthal coils with the temperature control, or does the coil have to be made from ni... nickle... no... nitrite? No, that's not it... damn. Now I can't remember the type of wire that works with the TC. The little brain just skipped a groove... but you know what I'm talking about, right? -
What kind of battery do you plan to use with your RBA? That also needs to be taken into consideration depending on what resistance you build your coils. The subtank mini is what I have and it has an easy to build on deck.

That's not something I would recommend to someone who is "totally new to vaporizers," it's kind of like teaching someone to drive for the first time in a Ferrari. There are people who have posted they've had auto-firing of the Eleaf iStick 50W, but as long as you keep the connection clean and dry and take the usual precautions, I don't think it's a problem. Personally, I have five of them and not one of them has given me any issues, but then I make sure to keep the connection clean and dry. These would be my personal recommendation. Or, if you're wary, then go with the Eleaf iStick 30W or the 40W TC. The 40W TC has temperature control, if that's what you're wanting. -
Moved per your request. I'm posting that here because I accidentally closed the PM box and can't figure out how to open it again. This review is nicely done. There might be a flavor or two that's got me curious...

Are you wanting a RDA or RBA/RTA? What you'll be recommended will depend on whether you want to drip or use a rebuildable tank. Before you start with rebuilding coils, do you have some knowledge of Ohm's Law? Do you have an Ohm Meter? Must have tools: 1. Ohm Meter 2. wire (I would get some 26g, 28g and 30g to see which one you like better) 3. organic cotton 4. a drill bit or coil winder 5. small torch (optional) 6. ceramic tipped tweezers or needle nose pliers with insulated grip 7. cuticle nipper (optional. You can use scissors or a small wire cutter but I like the cuticle nippers because it lets me get really close to the post) Number 2 through 7 can all be secondary but a decent Ohm meter is a MUST if you're rebuilding. Safety first!

Just ordered another bottle of Clockwerks Custard. It mixes so well and enhances quite a few flavors.

Feh. It worked like a dream for the first two tankfuls, then on the third refill, it did what the first tank did. I'm done with it. I hope you have better luck than I did.
-
Well... I waited for a while to see what the replacement Triton did for me. It worked well for two tankfuls. Then, tonight when I tried to refill the tank, it did the same thing the first tank did. No juice was getting to the coil even though it looked like the hole was open so the juice should've been reaching it. After playing around with it and trying this, a little of that, a little more of this.... stick a fork in me, I'm done. Earthling, if you're still interested in this thing, I'll be happy to ship it your way complete with extra 1.8 ohm coils and the rebuildable deck. It will go out in this weekend's mai... wait. I have to work this weekend but I'll see if I can't get the SO to ship it out to you. Just say the word and this headache is yours. I'm very disappointed that this tank didn't work out for me. It could very well be something I'm doing wrong, but it's not working for me past the second refill. Hopefully, someone else will come out with another tank that's great for mouth to lung. In the mean time, once the coil got broken in on the Subtank mini, it's pretty not bad. I'm bouncing back and forth between that and the authentic Russian 91% these days.

Now you can direct drip while driving
Tam replied to BirdDog's topic in Share the Latest Vaping Products
Once in a great while I've been known to drip and drive. On the rare occasion that I do, I usually fill a small plastic 5 ml bottle and it's super simple, quick and... did I mention simple? If I were to get one of these, that's what I would do with it instead of mounting it on anything. Nice idea, not a lot of practicality to it imo. It's just easier to fill a KPT3 mini with my ADV and not have to worry about dripping while driving. -
You'll have to let us know how you like the Triton, Cany.

You said, in an earlier post, that you're using a Triton with a factory coil (1.8ohms) and vaping at 12 watts. I'm using a 1.8 ohm coil with a juice that likes heat but I'm finding that 9.7 watts is more than enough. Any higher and I get cotton mouth and a harsher vape. Maybe you could lower the watts you're using to see if that helps? I would start at around 7 watts, vape. If it's not producing the flavor and vapor you like, turn it up a couple of notches. Vape. Continue that until you get the first hint of harsh vape or a slight burnt taste, then turn it down a notch. That should be the sweet spot for your juice.

If I remember right, Coil-Master.net (Chinese vendor) was spamming members via PM to do a review on their product so they'd offer to send them a free one. That's where I first saw the kit, I believe Tug got one from them.

I have some with the airflow controllers and they really are wonderful -- probably as close to perfection in a tank that I've ever seen. Simple, dependable, low maintenance... what more could you ask for? Thanks again.
-
Thanks, Earthling! I just ordered two more for when I'm introducing noobs to the wonderful world of vaping. If we do a @bcarter98, I wonder if he'll see the bat signal?

I guess you could cut off some cuffs off a button down shirt so there's somewhere to put the cuff links... if you really wanted to wear them Your dinner sounds good too. Did you add a little white wine to go with the fish?
-
And here's the behind the curtains look... The water goblets are "fun" and that makes my SO's father actually drink the water, which he doesn't do during the day. Our table manners are far less than stellar. And we were all "dressed" in tank tops and shorts for dinner, lol.

Okay, I finally remembered to take pics. This is only half of the kabobs I made before grilling. And this is the whole meal after it was grilled along with a cucumber, tomato salad and some onion fried rice.
-
Just finished a great meal... *burp* 'Scuse me.

You might want to keep in mind that the Eleaf iStick 20W is well known for not giving accurate readings on power in wattage mode, it runs hotter than what it says. Your best bet is to set it to use voltage instead of wattage for a more accurate reading. Just my two cents.

Googled the auto firing and it's scary all the accounts out there. Thankfully, I've not had any problems with mine, but I will be keeping a closer eye on them and taking every precaution from here on out.
