If I remember correctly you ordered a couple of tanks before, right? The Triton 2 will work well with your new Dovpo, wasn't there something else like an Arctic tank or something like that?
-
What coils you get depends on what tank you get to go with it. The Dovpo mini 50W on its own is just a battery....
-
What PG/VG ratios are in your juice? Do you add extra sweetener? Where do you get your juice from?
-
On the left side of the display you'll see two numbers stacked. The top number will be the resistance of your coil. The bottom number will be either watts or volts. To the right of those two numbers you'll see bigger numbers and a W or V. That larger number is what the battery is currently working on. Yes, the other smaller number will change with the larger number to the right but it's the larger number that will tell you whether you're currently on volts or watts. PG is the flavor carrier, it's also thinner and will give you more throat hit. VG is the vapor, it's thicker juice (slightly sweet), and will gunk up your coils faster. With a sub-ohm tank/coil, you want to go with higher VG than the 50/50 ratio. Might be you want to try buying juice online? There are quite a few reputable vendors that many of us use on this forum. Fadora Vapor owned by our own @Compenstine on this forum is a great resource. He will work with you until the cows come home to customize your juice to perfection. EC Blends is also a good, trusted vendor as are many on this forum. Go to the home page and scroll down until you see the vendor section. Read e-liquid reviews and the comments. Those will also help.

Is your iStick on watts or volts? It will be one for the other, not both at the same time. You will be able to tell by the large number and then the w or v after it. The 0.6 ohm coil is what we call "sub ohm" which is because it's lower than 1.0 ohms of resistance. These coils burn hotter, which could be partially responsible for your harsh vape. Yes, you can add plain VG to your juice but it will mute/dilute the flavor a bit. You might want to get the same flavor in a higher VG content and then mix the two. If you buy liquids for a sub-ohm tank/coil, I would recommend a 30 PG/70 VG mix. Any higher VG and your wick might not be able to absorb the juice fast enough and you will wind up with what we call a "dry hit". That's pretty unpleasant and could burn the cotton of your wick. Once the cotton burns, you'll never get the burnt taste out. That's when you'll want to empty the tank, wash it out, fill with new juice, replace coil and start again. With sub-ohm coils, you need to prime the coil before vaping or you'll burn the cotton. Priming means to either put a little juice onto the wick through the holes on the side and let sit for several minutes so the cotton has a chance to soak up the juice and get good and wet first.

Contrary to the propaganda being thrown around, I very much doubt vaping causes kids to start smoking. Most of us on this forum are former smokers. Once we get off the cigarettes for a while, we can't stand the taste of cigarettes anymore. Like Aufin said, you should have a talk with your cousin. No accusations, no lectures, just a long talk.

More PG in an e-liquid = more throat hit. You would want to go a higher VG (smoother vape). Different flavors require different heat temperatures. Start low, vape. If that doesn't do it for you, turn up the volts/watts on your iStick. Once you get a slight burnt taste or a harsh vape, turn it down a notch. That will be the sweet spot for that juice and coil. Also, the new coil you put in, do you know what the resistance is? If it came with the tank, many times a tank will come with one or two coils of different resistances. The new coil might be lower resistance which would explain why you're getting a harsher vape on high temperatures. Just a guess.

The first V2 that I got from... can't remember the vendor... was really tough to get the heat sink off. The two I got from Mt. Baker Vaper is very smooth threading.
-
Mt. Baker Vaper has the Triton 2 ($30 and $14.99 for 5-pack of kanthal coils) and the TFV4 (not mini) but not the crown and free shipping on orders over $50. I see what you mean about finding a vendor with all three at a reasonable price.
-
Did you order the version 1 or 2, Rix?
-
Boy, Jason, when you go into "hoarding mode" you do it right! LOL Just putting my two cents in - so far I have three Triton 2 and thinking about adding a couple more. The second version corrected all the problems the first one had. It's such a great performer for me that I finally found the replacement for my beloved HH.357s that I've been stuck on for years. With a 1.8 ohm coil, it delivers the perfect mouth to lung tank. If you use the subohm coils or the TC Clapton coil, I'm sure it would deliver a great direct to lung experience as well.

Argh! Eleaf betrayed me!!! They made an iStick with removable battery! UGH. Go with the Reuleaux. They didn't piss me off.

Hopefully, with a different tank system, you'll get what you need to get off the analogs. Once you break in your new stuff and if it's still not doing it for you, then you will want to look at increasing the amount of nic in your juice. Sorry to hear about your stroke. A very dear friend of mine has had three TIAs and another had a full stroke complete with aphasia so I've schooled myself with its symptoms and some work arounds. As for coils, you might want to scroll up to an earlier post of mine in this thread, the answer is there.

Mouth to lung is when you draw the vapor into your mouth and then inhale. Direct lung inhale is just that. You just inhale straight into your lungs. If you don't ask questions, how will you learn? Personally, I'd prefer people ask lots of questions (as long as they read the answers they get), and learn how to vape safely.

Happy holidays! Yes, the Triton 2 will fit this mod, any tank with a 510 connection will work. There are two coils that come with the tank, one of them is a 1.8 ohm coil (which I prefer), and the other is a .5 Clapton coil. Because I vape mouth to lung I prefer the 1.8 ohm coils. Mt. Baker Vaper has them for cheap here: https://www.mtbakervapor.com/accessories/5pk-aspire-triton-replacement-coils/ With a 1.8 ohm coil, I use it at 10.4W otherwise I get a burnt taste if I go any higher. Just because you can doesn't mean you need to. Do you also have an 18650 battery and a charger? If you go with the .5 ohm Clapton coil, you will want to make sure to have a battery that can handle it safely. Earthling and Jason can steer you to some good batteries. I prefer to stay with an enclosed battery (iStick 50W) so I know what my mod can handle without having to buy other hardware.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays! I hope everyone has a wonderful day with friends and family. Best wishes for the new year!
-
Well, that's a new one. I usually have the problem where I can't even break it loose and get it unscrewed! I hope someone comes along to help you with your situation.

Yep, if you also take a good look at the device, there are no controls anywhere...

GOP lawmaker: E-cigs could 'very well save my life'
Tam replied to jasonculp's topic in General Vape News
Saw a very brief one-line mention of this but not the whole article. Thanks for posting. Now, if we could just get more lawmakers to open their eyes... -
Most of us just have different tanks with different flavors in them. It's much easier to switch one tank for another rather than to try to keep track of which coil goes with which flavor. This leads to one of the main things we try to stress to all new vapers: get back ups. Then, get back ups of your back ups. You can never have too many. If you're going to go the change coil thing, I would put the coil into a small cup of vodka. That will take out most of the flavor of the previous e-liquid.
-
What you're going through is more like tongue fatigue. After vaping one flavor for a while you lose the ability to taste it. That's when you change off to a different flavor that's totally different. For example, you vape a baker flavor (apple pie), after awhile you can't taste it anymore. You change to something with mint in it. When you can't taste that, you go to a heavy fruit flavor. You keep rotating through a couple of different flavors to keep your taste buds working. Since you're just starting to vape, your taste buds are all wonky from smoking. They will get better with some time. In the mean time you can take some fresh ground coffee and take a few sniffs (just smelling it). That usually helps to "cleanse the palate." Or, it could be your juice and some different flavor or something from a different company might better suit your needs.
-
If your resistance is at .5 ohms, then I would suggest a higher VG juice like a 40 PG/60 VG or higher. Also, go down on the nic even more than you have. At higher temperatures, you're going to get more nic out of your juice. I'd go at least a 6 mg or so. You'll know when you're getting too much nicotine, you may get dizzy, a little light headed, a slight headache forming.... All you need to do is to stop vaping for a bit and you'll be fine. In case no one told you, vaping dehydrates you so be sure to drink more water (not coffee, tea, juice or soda), just plain water. It's also good for flushing your body of the toxins from smoking cigarettes.

If you could give us some more information, it would be easier for us to help you. What's the PG/VG ratio of your juice? That could make a difference in how hard a throat hit you're getting (harsh vape). More PG = more throat hit. More VG = smoother vape but thicker juice and gunks up coils faster. What battery/mod are you using? What tank or RBA/RDA/RTA are you using? If you're using pre-built coils, what resistance are they? Also, try starting at the lowest (or lower) power setting. Vape. If it's not doing it for you, then turn it up just a touch. Vape. Repeat until you get a harsh vape or a slight burnt taste. Back it down a notch. That's the sweet spot for that juice/coil/tank combination. Each different juice or variation in coil resistance or different tank will need a different setting for best performance.

Lol! And I'm just the opposite, I prefer the battery built in. That's the lovely thing about vaping... everyone has their own favorite. Whatever works and what you like is what's important.
