  1. Earthling gives great advice. To add to his list is: Before you sub-ohm, make sure your battery is rated 30A or better to make sure it can handle the draw. Safety first.
  2. There's no smoke involved in vaping. It's all about the vapor.
  3. Getting a second tank is always advisable (back ups!), just in case something happens to the one you have. If you've heard of flavors "sticking around," those are probably in the CE4 style of disposable tanks. The ones like a CE4 do not come apart and you can't change the coils in them. You use them until they don't work anymore - usually around two weeks or so - and then you throw them away. With a tank like the Kanger Pro Tank mini, you take it apart, rinse well (or wash and then rinse if you want but it's not necessary), let dry, pop in a new coil, fill with juice and...voila! One tip on the KPT mini. When you're taking it apart, make sure the stopper is in the sink or use a large bowl. The O-rings can come off while rinsing and you don't want the little things going down the drain.
  4. We're all limited to a certain amount of "likes" in a day.
  5. My long drip tips keep that from happening (2.25" and 2.5"). They look ridiculous but I don't have any juice in my mouth.
  6. And the ones who aren't don't stick around too long.
  7. Did you follow my links? You don't need the dual coils, those are more expensive, unless that's what you want. The single coils work just fine.
  8. Just click on the link I gave you in an earlier comment. You can use either the short or long stem coil for the KPT3 mini. The coils are what heat up the liquid into vapor. Short stemmed coils are cheaper but some people say they leak more although I've not had this issue. Go with a 1.8 ohm coil for best results.
  9. Better to say that cartomizers do the same job as tanks. Tanks hold more liquid, give better flavor, is more versatile and reusable. You can change a flavor in the tank, pop in a new coil and you're good to go. Cartomizers hold very little liquid, have a little "filler" taste (imo), tend to leak from the airholes in the bottom unless you're using a drip shield, you're pretty much stuck with a one trip pony where flavors are concerned because the filler material holds onto the taste of the e-liquid and will not let it go unless you go through an arduous cleaning process that's more trouble than it's worth. They both have 510 connections on the end so they would use the same types of batteries. I strongly recommend the tank option. And get at least two of the KPT3 minis so you have at least one back up. If you go with the KPT3 (you really won't be sorry in the long run), you must get a 5-pack of extra coils. If you can, I'd get two 5-packs or more. With the cartomizers, it's use it and toss when it no longer delivers flavor/vapor/performance like it did. This is usually about a week or a little longer. With a tank, you just pop in a new coil and you're ready to go. Or you can drain out the old liquid, rinse, pop in a new flavor and a new coil and you're ready to go. Also, don't forget to put an AC adapter into your shopping cart! This will save you some grief just in case. You wouldn't want to lose your computer or laptop, would you? While rare, it does happen. If you use the AC adapter, there's much less chance of that. I'd go with the a la carte option rather than going with a starter kit, but that's just me. All too often there's something in the starter kit that I have no use for. Others seem to like them just fine, though.
  10. 4 ml would be the sample size so you can figure out if you like the juice or not. How long a bottle lasts all depends on you, how much you vape, how big of a tank you're using, etc. Usage amounts go all over the place. With your cartomizer, you're using it per drop. In a tank like a KPT3 mini, it will hold 1.5 ml of juice. The KPT2 will hold 2.5 ml of juice. Sorry I can't narrow it down further for you, but how much juice you use and how long a bottle will last is entirely up to you and your vaping habits. For now, I'd start off with the 4 ml bottles until you figure out what you like, and then I'd get a bigger bottle.
  11. If you're going to order from Fadora, I'd suggest the Spiced Apple, Birthday cake, the new Hydra's Delight (this is a dragon fruit blend that is amazing!), and if you want to try a little of the cinnamon, go with the Cinnamon Stick. This does not taste like a Red Hot, but of the real cinnamon spice. It's also great to add to other juices. Talk to Comp for some suggestions. I believe he also has a sampler pack you could try.
  12. As time goes on you'll better understand the terms. In the mean time, ask like you did just now and you'll get an explanation. 1. Yes, the Vapros and Spinners are the batteries like the white part of your set up now. It's the one with the button on it to fire the thing up. 2. A tank for the liquid as well as the heating coil that heats up the juice you have in it. This would replace the cartomizer you currently have, the thing with the little white cap on the top that looks like the cigarette filter. 3. Liquid. I would suggest going with the 24 mg (2.4%) nicotine since you're just now starting out and trying to stay off the analogs (cigarettes). You'll also see PG/VG ratio on some of the juices. PG = Propylene Glycol. This is the flavor carrier part of the juice. It also adds "throat hit" which is how harsh the vape will feel when you take a draw. More PG = thinner liquid. Thinner liquid = easier for the wick inside the coil to absorb. VG = Vegetable Glycerin. This produces the vapor, makes the e-liquid thicker and harder for the wick to absorb, it also adds a slightly sweeter flavor (not much). Since you're just starting out, go with a 50/50 (PG is most often the first number with VG the second) or 40 PG/60 VG. The most I'd go would be a 30/70 but that's going to be a pretty harsh throat hit with the 24 mg nicotine. More nic also equals harsher throat hit. Fadora is a very trusted vendor here on the forum. Compenstine is a member of good standing and very trustworthy. I would buy his liquids. If you go to his site, the juices can be customized six ways from Sunday. Comp won't steer you wrong, and will work with you to make sure you get what you need. http://fadoravapor.com/ Start with him and then you can branch out to other vendors' juices when you're more established if you want. Comp's juices are about the best I've ever tasted. That's not just my opinion but many other forum members' too.
  13. Wait. What??? What profit sharing clause?! There was no mention of anything like that. I'd go back to renegotiate my contract but I don't have one of those, either. Lol.
  14. You don't sound needy, you sound like a new vaper who needs some help locating things he's not familiar with. We've all been there. It's good that you're asking questions and not running to eBay, which is not a good place to go, imo. It's all too easy to get knock offs there and you don't know it until it's too late. We see the aftermath of this all the time on the forum. Okay, here are some links: Vision Vapros 1300 mAh: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/the-vision-vapros-1300mah/ These are basically Spinners and new. They're just prettier than the regular Spinners is all but still great workhorses. I think they just prettied up the original Spinners and gave them a different name. Vision Spinner 2: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/vision-spinner-2-battery-1600mah/ You're in luck that they're even lower than before! Vision USB charger: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/vision-ecig-rapid-charger/ These are out of stock right now but waiting to get one won't hurt you because you already have a charger. It usually doesn't take very long to restock anyway. They should have them soon. You can also use the Joyetech charger, they work just as well: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/joyetech-510510t-usb-charger/ Joyetech wall adapter: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/joyetech-universal-ecig-usb-wall-adapter/ In my book, these are a must. I love to keep my computers in one piece, and there's a safety overcharge protection built into the adapters for extra protection. Pro Tank 3 mini: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/pro-tank-3-mini/ These will be around the same diameter as the battery you have now as well as the Spinners. KPT2 or Kanger Pro Tank 2: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/pro-tank-2/ These are the full sized tanks and will make your battery and tank combo look a little top heavy (lollypop), but holds more juice. You can use the Aerotank airflow controller on the full sized tanks: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/kanger-airflow-control-valve-for-protank-protank-2-protank-3-and-aerotank/ These are the long stemmed replacement coils for the KPT2 and KPT3 mini. Even though the KPT3 mini comes with a dual coil, you can use the single coils with no problems: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/pro-aero-tank-refill-dual-coils/ You can also use the short stemmed coils. These are what originally came out for the KPTs and then Kanger changed them to long stem. Some people report leaking on the short stem, I haven't had this problem except with a couple of them. Quality control isn't a priority with Chinese manufacturers so you will get a dud from time to time. https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/kanger-short-stem-pro-tank-coils/ I would go with a 1.5 ohm or 1.8 ohm coil in either of the links above. My personal preference is the 1.8 ohm because I find that it works with the widest range of juices. The 1.5 ohm runs a little hotter than I like, but that's just me. If I forgot something, let me know. Right now, since you're on a budget, these are the things I'd recommend. Later on, you may want to look at an Aspire Nautilus or Nautilus mini with the vertical coil but those are around $24 - $26 and the coils cost more to replace. The KPT tanks are solid performers. They do have a Pyrex glass tank so you'll want to be a little careful not to break them. There is replacement glass available, though. With glass tanks you don't have to worry about what juice you're using. There are some that are known as tank crackers: heavy on citrus, mint, menthol, heavy on cinnamon... Plastic tanks are prone to crack with some of these. Glass tanks are not. That's enough to get you started. Man, can you imagine the commission I could get if I actually worked for the VT store and not just a satisfied customer?
  15. Looks like I've got chatty fingers tonight...which is much better than the high state of pissed off that I was earlier this evening. Now, if we can get Slummer to a good start, I would call that a success.
  16. Shhhhh! Bebop! You'll scare him off before we can make a proper vaper out of him. Just for the record, I've never heard a complaint about anything I've mentioned and recommended. I might have heard a grumble about how much money they spent that they didn't plan to...but they've always been happy with what they got. Lol.
  17. Personally, I would highly recommend a couple (at the very least, and you can buy one or two more later) of Vision Spinner II batteries. These are variable voltage, 1600 mAh so you won't need to be so conscious about what resistance your coils are. The Spinners are what we now call pretty basic but they're extremely dependable and versatile enough to last you quite some time in your learning process. Add another USB charger in case the one you have goes belly up. You won't be without an extra. Add an AC adapter so you're not plugging the USB charger into your computer or laptop. It's much safer to use the AC wall adapter so you don't risk frying your computer and it also charges faster. Add at least four tanks. This way you can keep a different flavor in each one. When you want to change flavors you just change tanks. You should be vaping a couple of different flavors throughout the day so that you'll be able to taste them. Something we call "vaper's tongue" is when you vape something so much that you can no longer taste it. Changing to a very different flavor will refresh the taste buds. In absence of that, you could also carry around some coffee grounds and sniff them to refresh your taste buds but that's not as much fun and you won't get the hit of nicotine from it. Get several 5-packs of coils. My preference is the 1.8 ohm coil. For most fruit juices I use the Spinners at 3.7v. For heavier and bakery flavors like apple pie, coffee, cheesecake, etc. I go up to around 4.0v. You'll find what's right for you with a little experimentation, which is fun. The Kanger Pro Tank mini (KPT = Kanger Pro Tank) is the same diameter as the Spinner batteries. The full sized Pro Tank is bigger, holds more juice but looks a little like a lollypop. Add some Aerotank airflow bases to the full sized KPT so you can control how much air is getting through to the coil, and you've got a winner and a solid set up. All you need is a bunch of samplers in juices so you can figure out what you like. The longer you vape and get away from the analogs, the better you'll taste things and your preferences will change. What you loved at first won't taste so good. Some flavors you didn't like...or thought you didn't like before...will surprise you and taste like the sweetest nectar ever. Seriously. I highly recommend our own Vapor Talk store to get these things I've mentioned. If you get everything in the quantities I mentioned, it will run over $100 - $150 or so. BUT! You won't have to buy much more than juices and spare coils afterword. The Vapor Talk store has the lowest prices I've seen online for most everything. You'll get only genuine brand names, no knock offs so you can trust it, and excellent customer service. After all this time that I've been vaping, I've amassed quite a few toys in the way of mechanical mods, fancy APV (Advanced Personal Vaporizers), and my go to batteries are my Spinners. They're consistent workhorses that are user friendly, just what a new vaper needs while you're learning. Later on when you're more familiar with the zillion other things out there, then move up. Don't try to fly a jet when you haven't mastered the bicycle yet. That's my two cents. Others will be along shortly to give you their recommendations.
  18. You ask a question around here and you'll get waaaaay more than just ONE opinion. Most times you get more than you thought you wanted! Lol.
  19. See that little white thing on the very top of the cartomizer? You should be able to get that off, put liquid onto the filler material (just a drop at a time and don't get any liquid into the center hole -- try not to over fill). Put the cap back on and vape. You can buy replacement cartomizers (with your battery, it's a fixed 3.7 volts), you'll want to stick with either a 1.5 ohm or 1.8 ohm cartomizer. Any higher resistance and your battery won't be able to give you enough oomph to heat the coils before the 10 second cut off. If you're refilling, make sure to use the same liquid as the filler material will hold onto the last flavor you put in. If you wind up with two flavors that don't play well with each other, it's going to taste nasty. Some other flavors like a fruit and a vanilla would taste pretty good together though. You can get empty cartomizers for pretty cheap: http://www.litecigusa.net/Smoktech_510_1_7ohm_Single_Coil_Blank_Cartomizers_p/510-smok-1.7-blk.htm $6.95 for a 5-pack of cartomizers. I've done business with Litecig before and never had a problem. Man, but I had a hard time finding these LR (1.7 ohm) cartomizers. The Vapor Talk store only had 2.0 ohm and up. Same thing with The Veteran Vaper. While there's nothing wrong with cartomizers, they're pretty old school. We need to get you into a few tanks with replaceable bottom coils. Much cheaper and I'm sure you'll like the taste of the juices better.
  20. And by the looks of your picture, it's a very small eGo battery -- probably a 400 mAh. You'll definitely want to get a back up for that -- most likely something with longer battery life like 1300 or 1600 mAh so one battery can last all day. You don't want to have to wait for the battery to finish charging. Sing with me: ~back ups, back ups, you can never have too many back ups! Tanks, batteries, chargers, juices, etc.
  21. By using just your description, it's impossible to tell what you have. Can you upload a picture so we can see? The more detail the better. Welcome to Vapor Talk. We'll be happy to help you spend some money and will promise to only steer you to genuine name-brand, quality equipment and vendors.
  22. What Comp said. Thank you for your service! And welcome to Vapor Talk.
  23. Yep. A week of steeping is good. Two or more and it becomes spectacular!
  24. Step 3. Hide real set from significant other so he doesn't take it out of your toolbox and put it into his where you won't ever find it again.
  25. Tam

    Popping coils

You're a GENIUS, Earthling! Thank you, cutting back on the airflow did the trick.
