So, my original coil died today... I my vape fell on the table and I guess the impact broke the filament at the + end. 2nd coil went really well! got a 1.8 on the 1st try and it's working like a champ on my precise+ really happy about this ! just had to share

live and learn? hahahha! *sigh* it was a crazy few days but now I've got an extra skill set! thanks all! I'll probably end up looking in on that thread too. but at least now i'm started
-
HAHAHA! you know... I was afraid you were gonna say that :P
-
might be a silly question, but who's Jim? upon further inspection I found wire and mesh on e-vape.gr hopefully what I have will last me long enough to find a US supplier... and YES definitely will be recommending the regular size for first timers :P should have thought of that... but the mini one looks so cute! oh well, live and learn! definitely won't be forgetting about my e-torch! hahaha
-
@uma - you are truly the greatest! you've helped me so much! I did notice that after watching the Rick video of him doing the coil, i took that part off. so the coil just goes from the ground to the wick. In the e-gr video that i had seen the guy used the fill screw on the DiD to hold the wire before the ground screw - that's where that came from... but since I have to be able to remove to screw to fill i figured that it would be better to do it the rick way I definitely think I might try the 30 when I buy a roll, I was constantly worried I was going to break the coil .. although i guess i might change my mind after a bit of practice also will probably be getting another genesis atty. probably a bigger one this time the mini is definitely elf-work.. I was really glad to have small hands...but I couldnt be happier with this purchase! one last thing: any good place to find bulk replacement mesh for the wick?
-
alright, so I guess all that payed off. after hours of watching videos, making a bunch of wicks and burning through about a foot of wire I've finally got a 2.6 ohm mini DiD !! it was definitely that last batch of Rick's vids that did it for me. that info is so essential !! anyways... so it's working great! I'm really glad I stuck through it and got it to work. the flavor is amazing - this vanilla custard juice never tasted so good (although that could just be the taste of success ) anyways.. just wanted to share. thanks to everyone for the help! I couldn't have done it without you! EDIT: the wick touching the bottom was an initial problem - a cut and a lift fixed it ! then it was the coiling ( i didn't get it even enough) after fixing both i got [what i said up there ^] I'll drip a bit more on the wick (sounds like that will even out the hits) any chance of finding out what kind of wire they send with the atty?
-
so... after a few hours, a few more wicks and coils. i think i may have gotten it !! I've got it reading at 2.6 on the ohm meter without the cap and 2.5 with and without the cap on the provari. http://imgur.com/a/o9087 does that look correct? also, @uma million thanks!
-
@uma thank you so much!! you are a superlady I have one HUUUUGGGEEE favor to ask, i think I remember you mentioning you were also getting a mini. is there any way you could take a finished picture of your finished wick before you put the cap on? If you can make this happen I would be forever greatfull! I think I am having troublewith the coiling. I'm pretty sure I did a prettty good job of making a 'jackfrost' wick , it's fully oxidized, pretty evenly rolled (i used a paper clip) and then the problems statr happening.... but Ill make it work. eventually off to watch more videos...

my husband just recorded this http://youtu.be/aPTidSxjZPY

hey all! so , I just got my mini DiD in the mail today. I watched all the videos that i could find before touching anything. had no problems putting it together, but making the coil is just not working for me. the videos are all for the larger size DiD, so I imagine that this is where I am having problems. Basically, I can't get the resistance high enough. I'm using an ohm meter and a provari to check ohms after each try. I think the cap is touching and creating a short. creates a error E1 on the provari. at most, I have been able to get a 1.7 ohm cart but as soon as i put the cap on it reads as dead. I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything else correctly. hopefully I can either figure this out or someone will help me..
-
i haven't had any problems with sliding cartos... although you could try using a wedge..paper towel sounds good. perhaps one of the rubber caps from a carto might work too? on another note: dont get a carto punch from avidvaper. they aren't that expensive, but mine won't punch anything after a dozen hole punches. pretty weak imo...

so, i have been using this same aero since i got it (see 1st post) and it finally died overall, it was a good run. I'll probably be keeping a few of those around... on another note though, when it was shorted I tried to use it on my precise+ (before i knew it was dead) and it heat up my battery inside my vape. is that bad? should i chuck the battery?
-
so here it is, the day this atty dies. I have been using the same Aero atty as initially reviewed in this post. I have used it exclusively until now. It stopped working so I tested it and sure enough, it's dead. but it was a great run. on another note: it heat up my battery inside my precise+ is that bad? did it short out the battery?
-
@uma you are the best, thanks for posting all those videos. i've watched the one on e-gr and need more perspectives... tiny wrapping tiny wrapping.... also...perhaps they shipped today? my mind keeps coming back to it

i couldn't find a post about this so i made one, sorry if it's a repeat!! so, i had been eye-ing the newish rebuilable tanks from smok (got it from madvape) i have been on a 'rebuildable' kick lately, got the mini DiD coming in the mail...couldn't wait so i grabbed one of these guys just to try out: first off: the tank is thier regular plastic tank (just like the DCTs but 5ml capacity) the threading is very simple and just 2 rings inside the tank to hold the top and bottom caps on: this part of the build strikes me as probably being the weakest point, since i cant really see how it's sealed. kinda looks just put in there the bottom cap is where the atty screws on the top cap has got the mouth tip stuck on there - i haven't been able to pop it out to switch it...& now i got a tank full of juice the atty has got wick running accross it similar to the cE4s (i am pretty sure) and i could imagine having to keep them 'juiced' to keep a consistent hit as the tank gets lower. ie flipping the tank to wet the wicks replacement attys come with the wicks already in them. there is just one other piece to complete the puzzle: a little airway cap that stays on with a clear silicone cap for one thing, these things are super easy to fill. i basically just upended the last bit of my double chocolate juice right into the tank, flipped it upside down a few times and started vaping... I'm pretty impressed honestly, I didn't think i would like this kind of tank that much but turns out it's pretty awesome! and the taste is great too - just as good as any 'regular' atty so far, but with the advantage of no dripping! the only thing that kind of gets me is the plastic tank...but i guess as long as i don't use 'poison juice' it should be okay also, in comparison to their DCTs i feel like they upped the game. i used to use smok DCTs almost exclusively until i got into DD and it seems like the build (although still 'chinese') is better. the atty somehow looks sturdier , and you could probably clean it pretty easily with alc to re-use it. don't know how the actual tank would hold up to a fall etc...probably the same as the DCTs anyways, i just thought i would share my new toy with you all...

i've got a gripper non VV. it's a fun little guy. I have been looking at that VV... will be interesting to see how it works out
-
I totally agree with you guys, for me at least, I vape to vape (more as a 'ritual' - you know...) not for the 'nic fix' so I don't know if i would do the shot thing. it was an interesting concept though....
-
i love the way hand made e-pipes look... never tried one, may want one ...one day I've found this site (http://www.smackleycraft.com/pipecraft) where the guy makes them with DCTs and the battery in the 'bowl' - they look really nice....
-
@viperron i have a drip shield, but it is a bit long for my atty (the aero is a short atty - doesn't have much extra room on top) and since i have yet to experience any spillage i kind of gave up... o_O should I try again? ah! i think i see where the tip comes in.... atm I am enjoying a handblown glass tip and the low profile of my superT .... I'll keep that combo on tap though...sounds pretty good...
-
atty update: I alch washed my atty for the first time yesterday. not because it was tasting clogged or dirty but mainly because i wanted to change flavor and i wanted to see what would happen. Turns out, it works great! no noticeable drop in vapor quality or taste. So far...I'm quite happy with this purchase... also, i am finally getting the hang of DD, not getting so much juice-in-mouth syndrome.....

Emailing An E-Cig Guide To Smoke Shops
Jdog replied to SavvyVapes's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I have talked to a few smoke shop owners about their e-cig stuff. Most don't know much of anything about it. They see it at the wholesale place and grab it because 'it is new technology and fancy looking' none of them had ever used one, although at one place I found a clerk that knew a little bit that he had gathered from an informative customer. i figure this could be part of the problem.. -
heehee! I'm picturing hands right in face "I'm not touching you! I'm not touching you!" ...sorry everyone...
-
yeah, i know... i left it open in my browser for a few days. Definitely mulled over it for a long time, but finally pulled the trigger. Turns out to be just shy of $100 US but if you think about it, its only the price of 10 good attys or 15 okay attys. I figured, if this ends up being as great as i have been lead to believe I will not regret it - as it should last me till the apocalypse! Ill post more when I get it! in the mean time...I'm enjoying my cisco Aero atty..... never thought I would pick up DD...
-
@uma just ordered my mini DiD!! so so excited! ordered satin finish to match my superT can't wait till ship date!! in the mean time: *watching all DiD videos to try and get a grasp on how to make that coil....*
-
they were $12 i think, before shipping. i actually did dry burn it a few times now O_o and 2 drops of juice fixes it right quick! i was actually surprised at how forgiving it has been to me so far... and so far i have had zero overflow! i figured i was doomed cause of the open airway but so far i havent' made any messes which makes me happy ordered another atty from them right after cause the hubby was jealous- it came today...he got a cisco h^2 bridgeless - and he has been waving it in my face all day telling me how good it is.
