Bump Everytime You Buy Something New
Rixter replied to blucavvy's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I found a slew of the new AGA-T3s on eBay for under $30... ...so I picked up one (for $27.99 shipped). Happy birthday to me! -
I'm looking for a mechanical tube mod for the missus, but it has to have a thumb side-fire button because, although she's starting to get into the performance of RDAs on mech mods, she despises my mods' bottom-fired or pinky side-fired triggers. I've run across a few while surfing, but can't remember what they were and where I saw them. One was even designed so that you could swap end-caps to make it a thumb or pinky side-fired mod, which would be great. Any suggestions?

I can't think of any RBA/RDA that won't leak juice when it's laid on its side. You may see some claims that you can turn certain RBAs completely upside-down and they won't leak, but in the real world, gravity dictates that they remain upright for the most part. If you want to experience the increased V/T/F of RBAs, it's just something you have to live with.

Bump Everytime You Buy Something New

Just bought a couple of boxes of Boge 510 XL LR Stainless (Laser Slotted) tank cartos from SureVapes.com to try out. -
If you want an all-day RBA, I recommend the AGA-T2. It holds 3ml of juice, and with a 1Ω coil, a 2000mAh 18650 battery will last for the whole tank with plenty of headroom. Click for info on how to roll a wick, how to wrap a coil, and generally how to set up your RBA.

Well...that leaves "defective KPT" or "demonic possession".
-
4/3 wrap of 32g Kanthal A-1 around a 3.5mm silica wick to achieve a 1.8Ω coil. Vapes beautifully from full tank to dry tank.
-
I use 32g for most KPT re-builds, but have made a few using 29g.
-
The most common reason re-built KPTs leak is because there's not enough wick filling the side slots of the atomizer body, so juice flows past the wick and into the air passage. Too much wick and it'll impede the juice flow to the coil. I use 3.5mm silica wick and I don't have leaking issues, so you're going to need to aim for a total of roughly 3.5mm of wick material (including the main wick & flavor wicks if you use them).
-
What size wick/wicks are you using?

I used to have one, but traded it for a Tatroe Tank. I liked the RSST (), but it has a plastic tank as opposed to a glass one, and it wasn't as hassle-free as the AGA-T2. It also costs more than the AGA-T2. BTW - I edited my last post to include a link to where to get a genuine Youde AGA-T2 for $16 + shipping.
-
Of the Genesis RBAs I've tried, the AGA-T2 ($16) is far and away the most dependable of the bunch. If I had to choose only one RBA, that would definitely be the one.
-
I've seen a lot of silica Genny builds online, and I've heard a little about bamboo as well. Personally, I've had no problem at all with rolled SS mesh wicks feeding my coils with enough juice to produce clouds of vapor thick enough to block the missus' view of the television (she's constantly scolding me for excessive fogging).

Assuming you're looking for an APV & Genesis RBA (tanked) combination, I'd recommend the Sigelei Telescoping Zmax topped with a Youde AGA-T2. Just remember that the Zmax circuitry, like most APVs, only allows for atties with 1.3Ω of resistance or higher. As far as your KPT airflow, the most common problem I run into is that some of my mods have longer center (positive) pins than others, and the longer pins push the center pin on the KPT coils in too far, blocking airflow.
-
*UPDATE* You can pick up an authentic Youde AGA-T2 here for $18.58 shipped.

AGA-T2. I own (or have owned) an AGA-T2, AGI, AGT, AGA-S, RSST, and some Cobra clones, but IMO, the AGA-T2 is the best of the bunch.

If I owned a vape shop (sighs), I'd definitely offer custom coil options. I don't see why it would have to cost customers any more than a couple of bucks for me to do it, too. Materials would only cost pennies per coil, and washing the used coil body parts takes longer to do than recoiling one (once you've done a couple).
-
The next step is on 3.5mm silica so no flavor wicks are necessary. 3.5mm silica wick fills the slots on your KPT coil bodies just enough to prevent juice from flooding the air passage, but not enough to impede flow into the wick. I've never used a factory-prepared coil that comes anywhere close to DIY. BTW, DIY coil rebuilding is super-simple and saves you money all the way around, too. Your hand rolled coils will last longer than packaged coils, and you can buy everything you need to get started (other than a multimeter) for the price of a McRib combo meal.

SID owners... which battery do you use?

Maybe this will help. -
One of many charts I've seen in my web travels. They all recommend pretty much the same range. Google search "vape safe chart". I just noticed that the chart above is referring to Nichrome wire and not Kanthal. I've never used Nichrome, so I don't know how it takes the extra heat I've been putting to the Kanthal coils lately...apparently, not so well.

I just got finished wrapping a 1.3Ω coil (5/4 wrap of 29g Kanthal around a 3.5mm silica wick), stuck it in my Tatroe Tank (glorified KPT), and screwed it on a mech mod. It is a beast! I don't know why I didn't try this before, unless I was just hung up on the 8 watt "limit" I'd always heard about. 13½ watts on a fresh battery provides some very intense flavor, vapor, & throat hit, but I'm pretty sure it's going to go through juice like nobody's business!
-
I haven't tried this yet, but I don't know why a 1Ω coil in a KPT on a mech mod wouldn't perform like a 1Ω coil on an RBA/RDA. That would definitely put your KPTs smack in the middle of the "Hard Hitting Tanks" category. I use the same Kanthal resistance wire on my Gennies and RDAs as I do in my KPT coils, so the KPT coil shouldn't be any more likely to pop from high wattage. I'm gonna roll a 1Ω KPT coil and see how it does...I'll get back to you. Considering my current 15+ watt RBA builds, I'm beginning to think that the 8 watt ceiling is just a myth.

I've ordered hundreds of dollars worth of vaping gear from FastTech, and have been completely satisfied with everything I've gotten so far. They promptly replaced one mod I received from them that had a threading issue...didn't even ask me to return the defective mod. Just make sure to place your battery or e-liquid order separately from the rest of your gear so you won't have any problems with customs holding up your entire order. Shipping is free so it won't cost any more to split up your orders.

I editied my previous post because I included a wrong link. The link will take you to the right place now.
