need help making the next step
Rixter replied to datforrestkid's topic in Variable Voltage & Wattage
Most juice companies offer a variety of different PG/VG blends for their various flavors. If you want more visible vapor (and don't mind sacrificing a little flavor or throat hit), choose something with a high VG content, like 30PG/70VG. -

I'm into clouds. You're going to want a juice with a little higher VG content than "regular" juice. I normally use a 30% PG (propylene glycol) / 70% VG (vegetable glycerine) blend because higher VG content creates thicker clouds. As far as sub-ohm tanks go, at 20w, your Nautilus should do the trick nicely. -

When using drip atties like the short barrel HH.357, it makes them tall enough to use a drip shield. It also positions the leak point of the atty between the two O-rings of the drip shield so you can overfill the atty and draw the excess juice back in as you vape. -
Bump Everytime You Buy Something New

In the nearly 3 year period since I made the switch, I've avoided nearly $8000 worth of cigarettes (in 2012 prices), and have about $1000 or so worth of gear. I also make my own juice for the most part, and I buy the supplies in bulk, so my juice costs a fraction of retail juice. There will come a time when you have the devices that satisfy you and your spending will slow down. -
Triangle Vape has the SmokTech Xpro M50 65W Box Mod from for $46, and the Efest 18650 2500mah 20A/35A IMR battery for $7. No need to buy a charger for the 18650 battery because the Xpro charges through a USB port and comes with a cable. Shipping is cheap & fast, too. I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and it has really impressed me.YMMV.

Bump Everytime You Buy Something New

It's on my wish list. -
It might be using mean settings instead of RMS, but that still shouldn't make a 1.5Ω dual coil atty burn juice at 3v. That's only 3 watts per coil (according to Ohm's law). The only answer is that it has some seriously flawed circuitry.
-
Yeah, Everclear is almost pure alcohol, as opposed to vodka's ~50% level. It evaporates out of the atties quickly and doesn't leave much (if any) taste behind.
-
It looks like (from his post) that he is using voltage mode.
-
I use Everclear PGA (pure grain alcohol). It's 95% alcohol (190 proof).
-
1.5Ω at 3v is only 6 watts...that's an extremely low power setting. 1.8Ω at 3.1v is only 5.34 watts...that's a cold vape. You should be able to get to at least 9-10 watts (maybe higher, depending on your choice of juice) before you start getting a burnt taste. *EDIT* Actually, if you're using 1.5Ω dual coils in that Evod, you should be able to take your iStick up to around 5v at the very least with no problems...that's 8 watts per coil...16 watts total. Without knowing all the particulars, I can't diagnose what the problem is, but there's definitely something not right.

You have to watch the video...all will be explained.

Here's a really informative video from Phil Busardo (with guest Brandon from Evolv) that explains why temperature control is the next step in the evolution of vaping gear. Apparently, with TC, you can say goodbye to burnt cotton wicks and heat degradation of your juice.

I sent the following email to the article's author - Samantha Galvez - Email You really should check your facts before putting out a story like this. The formaldehyde angle (from The New England Journal of Medicine) was debunked literally moments after it was claimed. As a former smoker and veteran vaper (3 years now), I can tell you that, according to my doctor, my health has increased dramatically since making the switch, so I ask you, would you rather me continue to smoke cigarettes? If you want to make the point that vaping is bad for your health, you should try to find evidence that e-cigs have caused health problems...I dare you. Your article is now showing up on the vape forums as the biggest joke (junk) story of the year.

My favorite quote from the online article 'There’s Antifreeze in ‘em: 7 e-Cigarette Myths Debunked': The Myth: Kids like things that taste good. Flavored e-Cigarettes taste good. Therefore, e-cigarettes are targeted at kids. But really: Tim Allen used that logic once in his stand-up act: "God is love, love is blind, Stevie Wonder is God".

For owners of both the 25mm Subtank and the 22mm Subtank Mini: Does the RBA that comes with the Subtank Mini also fit the original 25mm Subtank? I assume that you'd have to use the 25mm Subtank's larger OCC tube rather than it's smaller RBA tube, which would give you more airflow as well as more juice capacity when in RBA mode on the 25mm Subtank....if they're compatible.
-
When the first rebuildables came out (Genesis atties if I'm not mistaken), they were just called RBAs. This was before drippers and the newer tank styles. Later, the newer styles were named RDAs and RTAs. The first time I saw RDA, I thought it was a misprint.

RBA - Rebuildable Atomizer RDA - Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer RTA - Rebuildable Tank Atomizer

Make sure you don't press the fire button while squeezing the coils or use ceramic tipped tweezers.

I gotta say that it looks like variable wattage box mods are the future of vaping. There are many to choose from and they're comfortable to hold. I paid less than $50 shipped for my M50 and it'll handle any delivery device you want to put on top of it. I have a dozen (or so) tube mods, but this is what sees the most action lately, and it's what I take with me on the go. Smok's Xpro M50 65 watt VW box mod and Dripper RDA.

looks like we gotta nuther bogus study fix'n ta take place...
Rixter replied to HOOKER's topic in General Vape News
From the article: "The study is primarily interested in people who are “dual users,” both smoking and vaping, Jorenby said. They will be looking at the effects over a period of time and whether users continue to use both products, quit smoking and only use e-cigarettes or give up on e-cigarettes and smoke only regular cigarettes, he said." Looks like the goal of this study is to find out if vaping really is an effective smoking cessation tool. -
I like the Japanese organic cotton pads because the strands run parallel to each other and that seems to wick better for me. YMMV.
-
I get my Kanthal A-1 here, and the Vapor Talk Store has Japanese organic cotton here.
