  1. Hmm never thought of the fact that the child was 1. I've never raised any kids under 12 and really don't like even teaching the 6 or 7 year olds. I truly have no idea what a 1 year old is capable of doing as I avoid them like the plague. Not that there's anything wrong with young'uns, it's just that I have little patience, a deficiency of mine, not theirs
  2. The headline read, "First Child's Death From Liquid Nicotine as 'Vaping' Grows. This provocative headline is followed by a story that states that the police wouldn't comment if the death was related to vaping and it looked like a tragic accident. The event occurred in New York State and is of course tragic. But the article seems definitely skewed to be prejudiced against vaping. The thing is that, again tragically, children die all the time from over hydration, dehydration, sunstroke, car crashes, falling from trees, equipment malfunction, other household poisoning, choking, over or wrong medication, violence, allergies, just plain neglect, etc. etc. As badly as I feel for this child and his/her parents, I have to also wonder if maybe we should consider banning water, sun, cars, trees, equipment, household chemicals, eating, medicine, peanuts, etc.etc. The article gives info about what a teaspoon of nicotine could do, and talks about a death of some guy who injected nicotine, and other scary stuff. It is illustrated with pretty pics of vaping liquids that are colourfully packaged yet doesn't admit it was vaping products that were involved in the death. It could have been carelessly used pure nicotine? We don't know. I see the writing on the wall though, people will be loudly up in arms against us. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, that this was on ABC News online.
  3. A company party abnormal Which sounds like it was quite formal They included vapes Outside behind drapes With cigars cigarettes for the normal.
  4. I've not really had those sensations severely at all, but I've had more throat clearing and voice blocking events (suddenly my voice gets thick in front of the class). Drinking more water solves this every time. I live in a tropical climate which is dehydrating as well, so a double whammy. I drink at least 3 litres of water a day at the bare minimum, plus coffee and beer. Beer being yet another dehydrator. This probably won't help you much, but it is the 14th reply which I put here so you can get a 'hot' by your comment.
  5. For me, half the fun of going to a coffee shop is whipping out this box with a silver tube on the end, putting it my mouth and then blowing a cloud. To see the eyes of some sharing coffee with me open wide is priceless. If caffeine was added, I don't think it would be wise to also drink coffee, so the bonus of startled fellow customers would be gone. I guess as vaping becomes more and more visible, those looks will disappear but for now it's great fun.
  6. I don't know how well it will work. The most important thing for me is to get good throat hit, nicotine delivery, and vapour. The best for me is a flavour that closely as possible tastes like tobacco. That's what keeps me off the analogues. But a device like that would sure make me the hit of the pub and the classroom that day.
  7. Hey Compenstine, thanks for the formula. Why can't you just steep the tobacco in PG for the recommended time and ad the VG when the process is complete? I understand that it's the PG that absorbs the flavour and nicotine. Is this right? Also, your flavours have come highly recommended, but at the VT store, you don't seem to make any tobacco flavours. Is that also right? I'd like to try when I get to the States, but not here because of the vile taxation and very possible confiscation.. Thanks, Jon
  8. Welcome! I think you'll get it done especially since I noticed you posted at 2:30 A.M. Or maybe that reflects my time in Malaysia, not sure. I'm not smart enough to give you any advice on an app's features but you did use my favourite word, 'free'. My second favourite word is 'waranty', but I guess that doesn't apply if 'free' is in there Good luck!
  9. For me, I smoked before, during if possible, and after everything I did. Wake up, have one, shower, have one, coffee have one while making, while drinking, and after:) Everything every day. I couldn't imagine doing anything without smoking. It really was not only an addiction, but an obsession. And for nearly 50 years! Kinda pathetic. Now vaping has allowed me to replace that obsession with something better. And even better than that, I'm nowhere nearly as obsessed with vaping. I love it, but it doesn't make me anywhere nearly as fearful if I'm without it for some reason. I'm over the cigs, and it's totally because of vaping. Anyone who doesn't believe it works, and works so well as a device to quit smoking for good needs their head examined. It should be a front line quit smoking method, not a last resort as groups like the heart association or the cancer society and maybe even the idiot FDA are saying. It so bloody works and is so obvious that it works, that these groups are even more pathetic than my former obsession with cigs. Ok rant over Peace! Love! and Rock and Roll!
  10. Hello Peggy in Houston and welcome. Sounds a lot like my beginning, 19 months ago. Some encouragement: That hard tip/soft tim, button pushing thing gets to be the norm after a short time and the cig feeling becomes the abnormal. I know it's really hard to believe but it really happens. I sense almost the same resentment in your post that I had when I was first here. Like how come it's all so cool for you all yet I'm still struggling with things that aren't cigs, have buttons and the flavour isn't anything like a Marlboro red and you all are so happy. Now I'm one of 'those' Keep going, it gets better surprisingly quickly. You btw can twist and shout all day with that device until you find the spot that gives the best vape and flavour for whichever liquid you are using. Best of luck from Jon in Malaysia.
  11. Malaysia Airlines has added to their "This is a non smoking flight" to "This is a non smoking flight, including electronic cigarettes" Sheesh! You'd think they have more to worry about what with the MH 370 search and being shot down over The Ukraine. Also, flying from Moncton New Brunswick to Connecticut through Montreal, US immigration in Montreal (that was a new one on me) questioned what is this? They were looking at at my iTaste SVO which I guess could look like a pipe bomb. I gave a quick puff to show the agent. He allowed me to keep it but gave me a what at the time seemed quite long lecture on how he'd quit smoking cold turkey and how all it took was willpower and he can't understand people who have such little willpower. It's interesting to hear that there may be more sophisticated smoke detectors in future, As I write this, I planned to continue stealth vaping in the head, but am now worried. I've had no trouble with that so far. I even earlier this year, on a trip from Hartford to Cleveland, upgraded to first class and got chatting with the flight attendant as I was the only passenger she didn't have much to do. We talked about vaping, she wasn't familiar. I showed her my rig and demonstrated and she said what the hell, go ahead and puff away
  12. But either way, if vaping is considered just another addiction, but gets rid of the cancer and other horrible disease factors, it seems like a win win. Just tax it, not regulate it, well maybe moderately just for quality control. The sky's the limit for this technology it seems. I't grown so exponentially in such a short time and actually works. I don't care if I'm addicted to it for my probably significantly longer life. I don't actually believe it's anyway near as strong an addiction as tobacco. Nicotine is only mildly addictive in my experience. All the other chemicals in tobacco smoke seem far more active than given credit. I think vaping should be on the very front lines to overcome tobacco addiction as it actually works, unlike those stupid 'approved' methods which to me were totally worthless expenses.
  13. Welcome. Lots of active members here and helpful and supportive too. So much so, that I parodied a song for myself to be played 30 years from now. Hot grandpa Check it and see Still sexy At a hundred and three...........
  14. I've always admired anyone who could quit tobacco however they do it. For me it was the hardest thing I ever tried to do. But after almost 50 years, I discovered vaping and after a few false starts with some of the first products, it was ridiculously painless. I continue to be amazed at my success at staying away from tobacco for more than 18 months. Best of luck to your father whether he takes up vaping or not. I'm sure it would be better for him if he can just cold turkey the habit, and certainly save some money.
  15. Thanks all for the great info and advice.
  16. It does seem to happen occasionally that the juice slips past whatever 0 ring barrier happens to be in there. I've got that mouth juice spit back quite a few times but usually in a place where to spit or swallow becomes a social choice. Not wanting to go down the same path as King George Bush I, puking on the likes of the Prime Minister of Japan, I suck it up and swallow. I usually get the hiccups for about a minute and all is well
  17. I agree. Counseling it is. I'll make an appointment at the pub for Monday. Actually, I don't think it took 5 minutes, and yes I did write it for here. I still remember all the support and encouragement I got on this forum all those months ago when I was a fledgling vaper. After almost 50 years of 2 packs a day, I was totally OCD about being without cigs. So many shared here about the same feelings when they exchanged smoking for vaping. In the end, it was so painless that all my fears were unfounded. You see, I tried all the 'approved' quitting methods including prescription drugs and nothing even took the edge off the whole package that is tobacco addiction. Now vaping is actually called a last ditch method to quit smoking whereas I believe it should be on the front line. It so totally works, and not just for me, but for so many. I dare say millions of now ex but vaping smokers.
  18. Maybe I need counseling.... There was a young man named Dave Who made mushroom juice in a cave. He said, "I'll admit, it's not a big hit." But think of the money I save. A friend also wanted to save, So he made mushroom flavours with Dave He also admits, the flavour's like ****. But no one can smell from the cave. "A market we now need", said Dave So a new access road Dave did pave And he sent the new product To the F.D.A.s Docket, To give them an excuse to rave. and rant..... (poetic license)
  19. I remember some anti smoking promotion that included some observations of smokers. They talked about how smokers all looked more wrinkled, with forced smiles and generally unhappy appearance and grey skin. I never thought I looked that way of course! But now when I'm B.S.ing with guys at the pub or coffee shop, especially for extended times, the smoker's smiles do seem a bit forced and I know when I'm laughing now it's far more spontaneous and real. It seems that subconscious worries like OMG I'm already starting my third pack and it's only 7:00! Things like that that I never even think about now. That and I'm still incredulous that I'm able to go day after day after day without a craving for cigs even when I'm with the puffers. Who would've thought it was possible after almost 50 years.
  20. Welcome! Although I must admit I don't know much except the firing order of a Chevy 283 is 18436572. Which has nothing to do with vaping whatsoever!
