Even though we think PVs have been around a long time, they havent. PVs are still a very new technology. Most people dont know what a PV is yet and most of those who do have only heard of them and never actually seen one. In marketing terms, we are known as First Adopters. A first adopter is a person who embraces new technology before most other people do. First adopters tend to buy or try out new products, hardware items, programs, and new versions of existing programs, sooner than most of their peers. According to a theory called Diffusion of Innovations (DoI) formulated by Everett Rogers, first adopters make up 13.5 percent of the population. PVs are constantly changing and improving and there is much more left to invent. Carlos is now marketing his Juice Box which contains a bottle of juice with a pump that feeds his custom made atty. He claims his custom atty has been working for over 6 months without a failure. Others who have reviewed the Juice Box say the same thing about the atty. I can see a day when there is an electric pump that feeds the atty when you press the button to vape. I would also like to see more mod makers using Digi-Keys to convert 6v CR123s to 5v so that we can hit the sweet spot. For me personally, 6v is a little too strong and 3.7v is a little too weak. I love my 5v mods like my VP passthrough and my home made Dremel Tool mod. The next battery mod I make will be one using a Digi-Key so I can have a 5v battery PV. Attys also need to be improved. The Chinese attys were all using suck. There is no reason why an atty should give out between 2 weeks and a month. Attys should last a long time and sooner or latter someone will come along with an atty that will fit 510, 801, 901s etc, that will last a good long time. Carloss atty is a good example of what can be invented but as I understand it, it doesnt fit any of the standard batterys that we are currently using. The imagination and innovation of the modding community on all the forums never ceases to amaze me. I am no modder. I am just starting to play with some very basic mods and am in no way in league with most of the modders on the forums. Im sure there are plenty of other innovations others can come up with. In fact, it would be interesting to see a list of improvements others would like to see in PVs. It may be a good idea to start a thread called; What would your dream PV look like? and let people post ideas for improvements to current PVs and Mods. It may inspire someone with the technical background to make it a reality. If you think there is nothing left to invent, remember that Bill Gates said once that "640K software is all the memory anybody would ever need on a personal computer". Even Gates couldn't see the future of the software he created.

A great first video. And i'm gonna have to pick up some of that juice. I just tried RY4 for the first time a couple days ago and I love it, so if this is just as good or better I'll have to give it a try as well. I'm also starting to do videos. My alter ego "Doctor Vapor" will soon be doing reviews on the VP Passthrough, the Silver Bullet, and the Chuck. I'll be sure to subscribe, rate, and friend you on YouTube. My videos can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/user/DoctorVapor

Welcome Brandon. You've made a great choice and the Joye510 is a good way to start. I will echo the others who have told you that your best bet is to order online. You sould also read the "DYI" threads on this and other forums. You can learn to make your own juice and you will have much more control over the nic content and flavorings you use and you will be able to create a flavor that you enjoy. I do this as well as buy products from e-juice suppliers. Buying comercially made products gives you a good idea of what you like and don't like. Unfortunatly, this is a new and growing technology and even though simple solutions to product availability do exist, each person who uses e-cigs are constantly contributing to the advancment of the technology. You have started down a wonderful road to better health. Enjoy.

Personally, I always wait until I'm at a stoplight to drip. I have also been known to pull over into a parking lot to drip my atty with my car parked. If my wife is in the car with me, I have her put a few drops in for me. Dripping your atty can divert your attention long enough to cause an accident and should be avoided. However, I don't think it should be made illegal. A little care and patients can help avoid a lot of problems and possible injury.

This is a good article, but much more of the same BS that has been published in the past. Also, the July 2009 publishing date puts this a bit out of date. However, it is good to be reminded what the anti-smoking crowd, that doesnt understand, or want to understand, what e-cigarettes are, are attempting to do. Its not about health, it never has been. Its about power, money, and controlling other peoples lives. Its about pushing a non-smoking agenda by any means possible. Anything that looks like a cigarette or acts like a cigarette must be banned at all costs, even if it is not a cigarette and has perceived health benefits. Im also sick and tired of the; We must protect the children BS that gets parroted in every article written about e-cigs. E-cigs are an adult product and should not be sold to anyone under the age of 18, period. I will echo the sentiment of many who have written on this subject before me that; Just because something tastes good, doesnt mean that Adults dont want to use it and it is specifically targeted at children. This thinking is illogical at its base; however, it is the major rallying cry from the anti-smoking crowd. Unfortunately, we live in a society governed by ignorance. Educating ones self and researching political and social topics is no longer in vogue. Jumping on a band wagon lead by some moron with an agenda is the popular way to achieve political and social change. In this He who can shout the loudest wins mindset that is sweeping the world, the only thing that wins is ignorance. We need to keep this in mind as we continue to work for the rights of people to use e-cigs. All research will be ignored. All logical arguments will be ignored. The only thing that will get attention is shouting, and shouting loudly. E-cig users are a very small segment of the population. We dont have the numbers, money, or power to shout loudly and will eventually loose on all fronts. I think the best thing we can do as a community would be to urge manufactures to change the look of their product line. Quit calling them e-cigarettes. We need to separate ourselves from anything having to do with cigarettes. Products need to be re-tooled as to not look anything like a cigarette as well. From my personal experience, I get a lot of dirty looks when I use my Joye 510 or a BE103 in public. But when I use my Silver Bullet or a Nic-O-Stick in public, I get a lot of questions and positive responses. I can only assume that a Silver Bullet or a Nic-O-Stick does not look like a cigarette and doesnt carry the same stigma. Cigarettes are the actual enemy. Lets get away from them entirely. Dont make products that look like cigarettes. Vaping is not smoking. Personal Vaporizers need to be made to look like something other than a cigarette and we need to start using the term Personal Vaporizer instead of E-Cigarette if we ever expect them to remain available in the future.

Banning E-Cigs In The Work Place...
CNubel replied to deathawaits87's topic in Vaping Legislation & Regulation News
Wow, I’m surprised everyone is voting yes. I did as well. I believe vaping should be allowed everywhere, but only when approved by the owner of a business. Just because we should have the right to vape anywhere we choose, the owner of a business or property must also have the right to say what type of behavior he or she wants in their business or building. -

There is a parts list on the first page of this thread. There are also links to get what you need. The important thing is to get the correct power supply. The one listed in the parts list is a champ. It delivers 5V/5W power that makes for a really good power supply to the atty. It really hits the sweet spot.

I added a pressure switch to the mod this evening. I learned a few things about plastics and how they crack. Its ugly, but the switch is in securely and it works. But that’s what first mods are for...you learn a few things that you don't do, or do differently, on the second mod. However, I'm a lot more comfortable with the ugly pressure switch in place. It doesn't matter if I leave the rocker switch on accidentally now as it is now just a safety switch. Next come experiments with adding LED's. But I need to do a little reading before I add those.

I have made this mod and it works great. In fact, it was the first mod i ever made and was very, very easy to make. Once I got the parts I needed, it took me about 20 minutes to assemble. For those of you who may be interested in making this mod, I put together the following parts list and where you can get what you need. I am lucky to have a Harbor Frieght hardware store near my house so I went there and picked it up at the store. The other parts I needed to order. Dremel tool mod Parts: Cheap Dremel Tool: ( $9.99 ) Battery Connectors: ( $3.00 ) 5 Volt Power Supply at 1000mA. ( 5 Watts ) ( $11.99 ) You will also need a few things from your local hardware store. Electrical tape Masking Tape Soldering Iron Solder extra wire...I just cut up the cord from an old adapter Multi Meter (Optional) Not really needed but get one. They will save you a lot of headhaches. I used putty epoxy to adhear the 510 battery connector to the casing. I would suggest using masking tape as suggested in the directions. It will allow you to change the battery connector if you want to switch to a different atty and provides a tight fit. Using Masking Tape will also let you make sure your atty is stright. If you look at mine, its a little skewed.

I saw that. Here is a link to the mod we're discussing. Dremel Tool Mod - Great First Time Mod

I found this mod last night and tried it. It took me about a minute to make the mod and it works great. This is one of those mods that change your entire vaping experience. Using this mod, I get more vapor, throat hit, and more nic..I think I need to lower the nic content of my juice. I got a bit of head rush using this. This description and the associated pictures are not mine. This is copied and reposted material. The originator of this mod is named “Porphy”. This is his mod and all credit should go to him. Mod info begins here: Alrighty, let’s talk about the direct drip cart. This is an idea that has been tumbling around in my head for a little while now and it finally came to fruition last night with a little help of forum member DaMulta. People who direct drip or even dip the wick will tell you that one big issue is either you vape without a cart or you have to constantly take the cart on and off. The problem with taking the cart on and off is obvious but when vaping without a cart it’s even more of a bother when you want to vape constantly but you have to let the atomizer cool down for fear of burning your lips. So for awhile now I’ve been thinking of a way to remake a cartridge to meet the needs of direct drippers. My first thought was an extension. Simply put, just a tube that extends the atomizer’s length out so your lips will be happy and you have top access to the bridge. This seems like the obvious choice but after some quick experimentation you realize that the laws of gravity are working against you. When you try to drip down an extended tube your liquid always wants to stray to the side and leak down, no matter how close to the center you let it go. So to make this work I needed a cart that would act as an extension, allow access from the top, and get the liquid where you want it (right on the top of the bridge). I finally accomplished it and have two working prototypes. I’ll walk you through the steps on both. One I have dubbed the “simple DDC” and the other is the “original DDC”. The simple DDC was created after the original and works similarly. The simple DDC is easier to create but its flaws are that it doesn’t aim to the bridge as well as the original and it looks a little ghetto fabulous. To make these you will need: -A pen with ergonomic grip -Scissors (original only) -3ml disposable eye dropper (original only) The first step is removing the ergonomic grip from the pen as well as the pen tip. Unscrew the tip and the ergonomic grip should slide off with minimal effort. Once you have this accomplished making the simple DDC is easy. Insert the pen tip into the ergonomic grip from the “top” of your new cart and force it down until the smallest end of the pen tip is at the bottom (atomizer end) of the grip. This will create a funnel to the bridge of your atomizer. Viola! You have created a simple DDC… I know, simple right? Now we’ll learn how to make the original DDC. This works quite a bit better, looks less ghetto, but requires more components and a tad bit more work. Start off as before and remove the ergonomic grip from the pen. Now pick up your 3ml eye dropper and insert it into the grip until you get the “top” of your cart to the 1ml line. (eww fuzzy pictures... sorry) Now cut both ends off of the cart leaving a full length funnel inside the grip. The result should look like: This will aim for the bridge a bit better then the pen tip, doesn’t deform the body of the grip, and it is more secure inside the grip. Now for use: Just drip through the top of the cart as you would if your were going right for the bridge. Any liquid that hits the side will be caught and taken to the bottom anyway. Note: if your drops get caught on the end of the pen tip or dropper just give them a small blow and it will force them through. This is more of an issue with the simple DDC, the original’s end is wider and allows for drops to go through easily. If this has been made already I apologize. It is a very simple mod and almost obvious idea so I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if it has been done before. At any rate, the “how to” should be some help for anyone wanting to try this mod out.

I've been looking all over the place for a 510 to 801 battery adaptor. I know theres one out there somewhere. If anyone knows of a supplier, please post a link. Just to make myself clearer, I have a 510 battery fitting and I want to find an adaptor to be able to use my 801 carts. Thanks
