  1. Some of the drip tips I have made are breaking off below the o-ring. http://www.gentrywoodturning.com/_forum_images/brokentips/IMG_20121230_164426.jpg I have ordered some stainless steel to make a new tip base. This will replace the stainless steel tube. The new design will be stainless steel around the o-ring and a tube will run all the way up to the tip. I hope to have a prototype base in about a week. These tips were sold with out a warranty. However these tips should not be breaking like this with normal use and they are. For this reason they will be covered. If you have a drip tip that breaks below the o-ring I would like to turn you a replacement tip in the new design. If you do not want a replacement tip you can receive a store credit or refund instead. For all of these options you will need to take a picture of the tip just so we can keep track of which tips have been replaced. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes and will do my best to make it right.
  2. Tips I have made over the past week
  3. A group shot of the latest tips I turned. My newest design. A comfort tip with a captured ring. I believe these are the first tips with a captured ring. This design is based from the captured rings on goblets. #2 and #4 are made from a Genesis blank, I believe this is the first time a tip has been made from this material. Seven of Kevin's tips. #1, #3 and #5 are made from Wonder Wood - Earth, I believe this is the first time a tip has been made from this material. Thanks Kevin for finding this material. #3 is possibly the first tip made from deer antler. The other two are made from Glow Stonez. These tips are made from the remaining blanks of Tru-Stone that Kevin sent me. I wanted to see how far I could push the Tru-stone. The disk on the red tip is extremely thin and fragile. SLT-001 Segelei LT with Griffin atomizer and tip, turned in Stabilized Fiddleback Koa.
  4. Leslie's Indulgence with a Vivi Nova, carto cone and drip tip. Turned in Box Elder Burl (Black/Brown).
  5. XL3-022 XL3 turned in Sassafras Burl EP14-007 E-Power 14650 turned in Cocobolo (this wood is not stabilized)
  6. XL3-020 XL3 turned in Box Elder Burl (black/red) Once taken out of the light it looks a little on the pink side. XL3-021 XL3 turned in Sassafras Burl
  7. Txtumbleweeds Vivi Nova with drip tip. Turned in Redwood Burl (brown) Lioz's Drip Tips. Not sure which one they will choose.
  8. Kevin's Provari with acrylic display, acrylic button, covered cap and comfort drip tip. Turned in Acrylic #65 - Desert Oasis The curve of the new clear acrylic display magnifies the display
  9. Just few pictures First is a group shot. I have never had this many mods sitting here at one time and I couldn't resist lining them all up. These mods took about 2 weeks to complete. Jojobo's polished stainless Provari with inset cap, Iatty and drip tip. Turned in Amboyona Burl.
  10. A preview of Kevin's Provari with clear acrylic display screen, built in cap and matching button. Turned in #65 - Desert Oasis Acrylic I am not sure if this style can be turned in wood with CA finish because of the clear acrylic display. Provape uses Loctite 3979 Light Cure Adhesive to secure the circuit board in place. This glue requires a UV light to harden the glue. The Loctite UV light cost around $900. Because of this cost I will be using RTV to secure the circuit board in place. RTV should hold the circuit board in place and is also removable if the Provari requires repair in the future.
  11. Today I turned the Iatty and tip. In the picture the Provari cap is not pressed on all the way because I am still waiting to hear what glue they use.
  12. Here is a preview Jojobo's Provari fresh off the lathe. I can't wait to see how it looks with the matching Iatty and tip. Thinking I need to buy a Provari for my PV after seeing how this came out.
  13. Lisa's Indulgence with carto cone and tip in box elder burl (blue)
  14. Here are pictures of the mod my son turned. He turned the battery tube and the tank. I turned the tip. It is a Segelie LT in acrylic #45 - Peacock. My wife informed me that I was purchasing it for her B-day
  15. DCT-007 turned in Box Elder Burl (black/green) DCT-008 turned in Box Elder Burl (black/green)
  16. I would like to show off a pen that my son made for is girl friends birthday. It is a click pen turned in thuya burl My son finished up the tank for his segelei LT and I still have to turn the tip. My wife who doesn't vape found out it was for sale and bought it before the tank is even finished. When I finish the tip I will post pictures of that as well. The wife plans on getting some no nic flavors to try out in her new toy. Robert's DCT turned in cocobolo Possibly Dave's DCT turned in black ash. A attempt to match his battery tube.
  17. Thanks, if you run into problems with the CA just let me know.
  18. Kevin's Penelope in Thuya Burl My son Jonathan decided that he wanted to turn a battery tube. Here is his Segelei LT in acrylic #45 - Peacock. Next week he plans to make a DCT and a tip for it.
  19. Hayazi's XL3/4 with tank cone, carto cone, tank tip, carto tip and inset cap in spalted big leaf maple burl. Moshe's DCT in box elder burl (blue)
  20. Some information I would like to pass along.
  21. Beta test version 2: I ran it at work for a day with no issues from the epoxied 510 connector. The only issue I had was the cone kept slipping off the tube because I didn't glue it in case the connector failed again. Last night I glued the cone to the tube again using CA. It held up just fine at work today. The wide base is working really well and doesn't get knocked over like it always used to. I also found that two tooth picks work great for removing the cap and they fit in my case without taking up any room. I will take it backpacking with me and see how it holds up. I will only be using it for 3-4 days because the batteries will be dead by then. After that I will be onto my little riva, modded ce5s and a solar charger. I can already hear the fish jumping in the lake and smell the pine trees
  22. Unfortunately due to bad soldering, not cleaning/sanding the 510 connection prior to gluing with CA and not using enough CA my lavatube is down. I noticed that the tank was wiggling a little during lunch, so I tightened the tank and wiggled it a little more. I decided I would just flood the bottom of the tank cone with CA when I got home. When I tried to take another hit there was no electricity going to the 510 connector. I am glad I had my secondary with me or it would have been a long day. I got lucky and was able to twist off the cone with out damaging it so at least I get to try again with out turning a new one. Beta test version 1: Fail Beta test version 2: Repair wiring, try to solder better, clean/sand 510 connector, glue with epoxy. I will also just press fit the cone on for now so it the connector fails again I can take it apart easier. If that fails I will turn a now cone and use http://highdesertecigs.com/510-510-adapter-sealed-.html for the 510 connector. I don't think it will wiggle out. Thanks Lordavon for the link!!! At least I had VV for 1.5 days. I hope to have it running again tonight.
