  1. how quickly you go through cartomizers is completely dependent on how you vape. the average for a 1ml carto seems to be about a week for most people. but those are larger carto's, i would still just assume you'll get about a week out of one. so if it comes with 4 you should have a few weeks worth. couldn't hurt to order extra. but you may want to order a few of those vision clearomizers, that site has them for sale. that way you can try a few different things. i would recommend the same for juice, get a little bit at 18mg a little bit at 24mg and a little bit at maybe 12 or 14mg so that you can find what suits you. sweetvapes has VERY good juice. if they have a sampler pack i'd recommend getting that. that way you can try different flavors and find out what you like without having to order a bunch of anything that you maybe won't like. PG= propolyne glycol VG= Vegetable glycerine both are bases for ejuice. pg has more throat hit and flavor, but vg produces more vapor. a lot of people like a mix of the 2 instead of just 100% of one or the other. i personally prefer 75/25 vg/pg. but a lot of people like a 50/50 blend.
  2. using juice right off the bat is not difficult. if you buy a kit with cartomizers they're either pre filled or blank. if they're pre filled you can start vaping them right away. if they're blank you'll have to fill them yourself. refilling either is not hard. the eGo is not as big as you might think, it's bigger than the cig styles but like i said if you smoke a lot chances are you'll vape a lot. and a small battery means you'll constantly have to have a bunch charging it's more of a pain than it's worth. that eGo kit that i linked to is a good one, those are genuine joye ego's which are pretty much the best. 2 900mah batteries. the cartomizers it comes with are blank so you would fill them yourself. i go through about 10ml's of juice a week but other people go through way more. so if i were you i would start by buying a few different types of juice of whatever you think sounds good in small amounts. maybe 10ml bottles. they should only be about $5 a piece. if your'e a heavy smoker i would start at at least 18mg nic level maybe even 24mg yes
  3. Ok, let's just take this all one step at a time If you smoke a lot you'll want a lot of battery life. This means a "cig style" ecig simply won't have enough battery life to keep up with you. So that throws a lot out of the water right off the bat. My next suggestion would be to look at what's called an eGo. Very popular and well performing ecig with enough battery life for most of us. I recommend getting a kit with at least 2 batteries as you should always have a back up. I would also recommend getting a kit that starts you off with something simple like a basic cartomizer or maybe a vision ego transparent clearomizer. http://www.nashvillevapor.com/site/products-page/starter-kits/the-ego-dual-coil-cartomizer-kit/ there's a good starter kit for a good price. Should be simple to use/figure out for a newbie. I recommend that vendor a lot because they have great customer service, low prices, and fast shipping. Don't remember if that kit comes with juice or not but if it doesn't he sells juice right on his site. If you have any questions about the juice feel free to post up with your questions and good luck
  4. oh for sure. but, other than rebuildable atty's made in the u.s. (which i'm not quite sure i'm ready to jump into) i don't know that there will be much else in the way of delivery systems made in the u.s. there's something different out of China every other week.
  5. i'd err on the side of caution and pitch em. e-juice is cheap.
  6. Ok, well i've done a TON of reading up on the AVA atomizer manufactured by thermovape and sold at various online vendors. After all the research i've done i'm absolutely sold on trying one. Sadly i leave for Basic Combat Training on Monday so i'm not going to bother ordering one anytime soon. I finish with all of my training in April of next year so that'll be when i order one (unless X-mas is good to me ). It seems the AVA has gone through a few different "gens" if you will. Gen 1 had only 2 holes so the draw was somewhat tight and it was a rather finicky atty on how much juice it wanted to have without leaking etc... It also had an odd shape that meant drip shields couldn't be used with it. So, after the initial craze was over some things were clear. A.) People reported it was hands down the best dripping atomizer they had tried (most anyway), flavor is said to be second to none on these atomizers. B.) They wanted the design to be improved lol. Draw was too tight with 2 airholes, it needed to have a better wicking system as the it could only take 2 or 3 drops max without leaking and since you couldn't use a drip shield this needed to be taken care of. So, thermovape took this all into consideration and released a new gen of these beasts. It's now the same shape and size as a standard joye 510 so use of a drip shield is possible. They put in 4 air holes so draw loosened up plenty. And for all the customers who had bought the first gen and weren't satisfied they were sent new replacements. (that's awesome customer service.) The AVA also comes with a 3 month warranty. So at least when you spend the $40 on one of these you know you'll get at least a solid 3 months out of one, even though most users have been reporting these last for months without any signs of slowing down. So, yeah. I'm excited to try one. You all will have to listen to my endless rants for a few more days then you get about a 6month break! But then you can wait impatiently for my review of the AVA
  7. yeah that's y i stopped using them too. after 2 with tight draws i was tired of wasting $5 a piece. the lr (low resistance) one's were better and seemed to have an easier draw but still were just a little too stiff for me.
  8. just sounds like the threading has given out on em. after hundreds of hours of use ya gotta expect that's gonna happen. sorry to hear about the troubles but it sounds like it's time to replace them.
  9. also yes, 100%vg liquid is VERY thick and can very easily have issues getting into those small holes on the tank carto's. some people have opened those holes up some but i would really look at that as a last resort as it's easy to mess up. when i was using a tank, i found that after taking a few hits pulling the drip tip off and sliding the tank up some so that the holes could be exposed to air and out of the liquid it can help the holes to pull more liquid in when you slide the tank back down. chainvaping on a tank with 100%vg liquid simply doesn't work. also as you vape it you'll still have to top the carto off occassionally but the tank should keep the carto mostly saturated.
  10. well the base of the liquid could be a problem as well. some people have allergies to propolyne glycol and some have allergies to vegetable glycerin. that could possibly be causing the very "harsh" hit. i totally understand not wanting to invest more, starting up can absolutely be expensive. and yes, tanks are a great way to vape with less hassle. however, their is a learning curve with them whereas with a standard carto it's pretty simple. i'm not really sure y your first carto "burned", i'll have to just assume that the liquid had not fully saturated the carto. 18mg should be an ok starting point for you if you smoked that much, but i remember when i first started it can be pretty harsh for awhile. it could still be your draw that's causing you problems, make sure to inhale slowly, this is nothing like smoking a cigarette. i usually take a hit for roughly 5 seconds or so then inhale a bit of air and exhale. the eGo should be able to handle your 1.5ohm carto's just fine, however they will produce a large amount of vapor and it should be pretty warm. you may want to try a single coil 2.0ohm tank carto. that should be a little less warm, and a little less extreme as far as your hit goes. should be easier to handle. hope this helps Bruce and if you've got any more questions you know where to post
  11. no, 306 and 510 are actually the same threading. the same way an ego shares the same threading as a 510 it just has a recessed connection. i really love the look of those it's just a bummer that they're always sold out
  12. after a little more reading on empiremods website it looks like no adapter is needed for an empiremods drip shield to work with a 510 atty when using an ego.
  13. happy to help, once you get a drip shield you'll be hooked. i only drip anymore and i used to be straight up carto's. i just can't stand anything else anymore and like i said i used to love my carto's/tanks. dripping with a drip shield is just where it's at imho.
  14. lol, i'm just a bill is a classic. though, i don't remember it on saturday mornings. good one though Jeff. i'm a dragonballz fan though i'm kind of scared to admit it.
  15. not your fault, like i said i should have recommended that when i first recommended a drip shield to you. i apologize.
  16. that being said you may still need some type of adaptor to make the drip shield's bottom o ring go under the threads of the atomizer, i'm not sure cuz like i said i don't use ego's. but yeah that's the drip shield you want. and that's my fault, i should have linked that for you in your last thread. there's so many accessories for ecigs! lol
  17. http://www.empiremods.com/product_p/emegodrip.htm empiremods. they're the inventor of the drip shield and built right here in the U.S. quality is second to none. only place i've ever bought them.
  18. i'm not going to be a huge help since i don't ever use mine with ego's but first question is did you order ego specific drip shields? aside from that, can you gauge where the bottom oring of the drip shield is sitting? it should be below the threads of the atomizer. if not it's not on properly and will not work properly as such. example, i have to use a 510-510 sealed adapter to make a drip shield work with my 510 atty on my Provari. most other devices are like that. it gives the clearance that a drip shield needs to work on a standard atty/device.
  19. welcome to VT Bruce and sorry to hear of your troubles. Lets get this thing figured out. First a few questions. 1. Is the battery you're using a genuine ego? Or is it an "off" brand like a kgo? I ask because the two have different voltages that could b affecting the carto tank. 2. What resistance catomizers did you get for the tank? They should have listed "ohms" 3. What level nicotine juice are you using? The more nic the juice has the more throat hit it will have. a carto tank is not the easiest delivery system for a newb to start with. I would really recommend a simple 2.0ohm 510 Boge carto. Like this. Tanks come with a lot of hassles. sorry I'm having trouble linking from my tablet but nashvillevapor.com has great prices on boge 510 cartomizers.
  20. lol, yeah that's when i got mine. i've had Gingers RY4 before and loved it just never did a review on it. I only bought one cuz i leave for basic combat training next Tuesday and i'm a light vaper so......
