keenan got a reaction from coleen in Why We Choose To Vape....
Stringdancer, that was one of the BEST, if not THE best posts Ive read since being a member here. I have read it twice now, and cant find one point I dont agree with. The governments justification for banning these products IS ridiculous, and is based on greed not need. There was a thing on Fox news today about a product coming out that helps parents "monitor" where theier teenage children are, to help them keep an eye on them. Right there is a problem. We DONT need products to do the parenting for us, we need PARENTS to take responsibility. My father knew where I was damn near all the time, and I knew the thundering hand of God was coming down if I stepped out of line. Not in an abusive way, in an authoritative way. The man LOVED me and i loved him back and I NEVER got what I didnt deserve. Im getting a little off track here, but it starts somewhere, and this is one area. The spare the rod mentality. The "It takes a village to raise a child" mentality. It doesnt take a village, it takes a parent. And we need to stop infringing on everyones rights in essence to make it easier for someone else to cope with parenthood. Flavors and bells and whistles dont make akid go astray. Non supervision does.

As for studying the long term effects of vaping, the FDA clearly spent VERY little time studying the SHORT term effects of "YAZ". The birth control device has not been out very long, and the Lawyers are ALREADY munching up the airwaves for me and my loved ones. There is one that ACTUALLY uses this line - " If you, or a loved one has died from the use of...". Wait a second, If I DIED how the hell am I gonna sue ? Trust me, those bloodsuckers would prop my rigid, sorry Irish *** up in a chair to collect. I believe we, as a vaping community, are more concerned about "safety" and quality control than ANY government entity is. Also, products like e cigs, from the gate, are in a no-win situation, from a business standpoint. If you promote it as a smoking cessation product, then essentially you're trying to sell something that EVENTUALLY you will have to to STOP selling to individuals. If you come up with a device that is SUCCESSFUL, like e cigs, you are saying " buy my product, and in a very short time, you wont need to send me any more money". I think Billy Mays just did a barrel roll in his sarcophegus.

keenan reacted to Galex in Socialized Medicine
I think this article from the Atlantic Monthly should be required reading for everyone who wants to discuss the Health Care issue:
How American Health Care Killed My Father
You may not agree with his conclusions, but he outlays the problems in our current system better than just about anyone else I've ever seen.
I've worked on both the provider (hospital) and payer (insurance) side of things. It ain't pretty no matter which side of the aisle you're on. I had the pleasure of trying to get coverage for myself when I was briefly unemployed and let me tell you THAT is a complete nightmare. I have slightly high blood pressure which is completely under control through one of the cheapest meds around ($4 with or without insurance for 30 tablets). I've never had a coronary incident, my HDL/LDL levels are great and yet I could not get even catastrophic coverage from 2 insurers. That my friends is broken.
I'm a big believer that no insurance company should be publicly traded. We should move back to the system we had about 20 years ago where insurers were not supposed to be earning huge profits to satisfy shareholders -- instead they were there to be stewards of the premiums that were being paid and trying to make sure that the pool of money they had was enough to cover the needs of those they insured. Insurance companies were often local or regional. I feel the same way about hospitals -- being accountable to shareholders is not a good way to run an institution that is supposed to be caring for the health of the community. And let me tell you that as soon as these companies go public, all they talk about is 'what's good for the shareholders' -- I've been through 2 organizations going public and it was a very disheartening experience. I fail to understand why a company being publicly traded is viewed as the only way to inject competition into a system. It isn't. Even organizations that are non-profit have a healthy sense of competition and understand the need for innovation.
Next year I'll be switching to an HSA (healthcare savings account) and hopefully I'll be able to make a go of it. At least then I'll know where my money is going.

keenan got a reaction from Brian in Twas The Night Before Christmas ( Revised )
'Twas the night before Christmas
And on Vapor Talk
A member was lurking, you might even say stalk
He wasnt a troller, or spammer, or geek
A professional bowler ? No, that would be weak
He was merely a poster, we'd all seen before
Who liked to hang out at the Vapor Talk Store
Exotic Tobacco ? Dulcis ? Midnight ?
The choices were there, overwhelming with fright
And Chris, the store tender, would stand there and watch
As the mystery member would oogle the lots
For hours and hours as time ticked away
He'd click on the flavors, but never on "pay"
And Chris, ever patient, would stand there and smile
As fast as he entered, he'd exit
But why?
Its not that he didnt intend to invest
In the woozles and wazzles of grape flavored sets
It seems that he already had quite a stash
Of bottles of Vapor Talks Heavenly Hash
And sure as the sun will soon set on horizons
His wife wouldve beaned him, for thinkin of buyin
So this week, and sadly, he'd have to just gander
And spend his payola on pooh bears and pandas
But next week is coming, and quick as a wink
He's sure to log on and to click on the link
That always invites him to grin such a grin
Youd think he was 9 years old, maybe just ten
So to Chris, Smoking Man, and to Brian and Stu
To Nana, To Sinikal, Vegas and Gazoo
JeffB and The Green, to Gdub and LordVapor
Ofortuna ( My favorite VaporTalk Vaper ! )
Merry Christmas to all, and to those Ive forgotten
Dont take it too hard, Im old, my brains shot
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE !

keenan reacted to BirdDog in Best Way To Refill Cart
Welcome tryin2quit. I don't refill cartridges. I direct drip on to the atomizer. It is easier for me and less of a hassle. I usually will use 2-3 drops depending on which atomizer I am using. Batteries should last for awhile. The 510 batteries according to the instruction manual should last up to 360 recharges. Again batteries can last for a long time and sometimes they can give out fast. There is really no answer to how long an atomizer or battery will last.
Good luck to you. I hope you enjoy your 901. There is a video in the newbie section about direct dripping.
I waited for a moderator to step in here...but please don't type in all CAPS. It is considered yelling.

keenan got a reaction from poodlelover in Horrible Tasting Ecig, Normal? Help
Hey Poodlelover. Your question is a tough one. First, you should know e cigs will NOT taste EXACTLY like analogs, because theres no "burn". But, to answer, I would need to know what flavor cartridge you were using. Second, you MAY be tasting a "burnt
or metal taste due to the atomizer not being broke in. Im not too familier with smoking everywhere. I know I have read some good reviews, and some bad. E cigs are really a "personal" choice decision, much like analogs. As there are so many different brands of cigs, there are as many e cigs. I can tell you the Popular ones I know of, that seem to be a hit with MOST vapers, like the Joye 510 (what I have), the 901, and 801. Plus, theres the liquid, or e juice. Before I go any further, give us some more info on the flavor you had, and what was bad about the taste. Then we can try to figure out whats going on. DONT give up yet. I almost did with the Blu cig, and what I learned here at VaporTalk turned me around !

keenan got a reaction from StevenP in Paypal Suspending E-Cig Sales
Paypal was pressured by big brother to not allow tobacco related products to be a part of thier sales, or something to that effect. So Paypal wont let ANYONE who sells e cigs or related products to do business, and suspends there accounts. From what I read somewhere, theyre also holding peoples money for up to 180 days. Now THAT is what makes people go on rampages. If you want to FORCE your theorys and belifs on us, fine, I just wont listen. But dont TOUCH my jing !!!!

keenan got a reaction from juniormint in Does A Manual Battery Fit In The Automatic Battery Charger
Dont know about the fitting, but a passthru is a MUST have. Its essentialy an e cig attached to a USB cord that you plug into your computer, thus doing away with the need to worry about recharging. You can sit in front of your computer and vape all day long without having to charge. I like to call my rechargable batts my 'Wireless" cigs, and my USB passthrough my landline.

keenan got a reaction from juniormint in Juice Descriptions
Heres one that would help me out. Im still a noobie in the juice dept. I know the obvious flavors, i.e. Camel, Marlboro, etc. But now that I have my tastebuds back, Some of the Juice names dont really explain what they are. The only one I really know is 555, cuz I bought from Arno after he explained it to me. And obviously anything with mint or fruit in the description is easy enuff. But stuff like RY3 or RY4 and things like that, I have NO idea if its something I would like. Is there a "Juice Dictionary" anywhere, or could we make on up ? Sometimes I feel like Im in a French Restaurant, and I SOOO dont want any snail.

As an ex Camel smoker I'm curious how you would describe the wordup camel flavor. I've tried a number of camel flavors including Dekang, TW, and others and find them far from the mark. I've tried a Dekang Pepsi that was spot on, I wonder if it is similar.
I haven't tried any of the wordup juices yet, but I might have to give them a try. No reviews so far that I have seen.

Yeah, the batt life on the VP2 is reedickyoulus compared to the VP1. Mind you, I dont have either one, but I saw the review
and the batt life on the VP2 was over twice the length. I cant remember if it was Chris, or Smoking Man or who, but they said they take thiers to works and it lasts ALL DAY. When I grow up I definitly want one.
