  1. Supposedly the 600 mah was a mis-print according to past posts. I bought some 500mah for my JS a while back from dealextreme and they seemed to work fine. So the original and the 500 mah ones I bought were unprotected. When I got the spade, I bought two extra batteries along with it mostly because "protected" sounds so much better than "unprotected". ;-)
  2. There is something weird (in a good way) about vaping. I was actually okay with no analogues at all, I think everyone from an addiction perspective is just different. My argument was two addictions, mental and physical, but ultimately I have no idea. And I call the mental part of it an addiction, but I think it's really just a Pavlovian response to the physical addiction. To your point, when I first went 0 nic it took a while for the withdrawal to actually start, my brain was okay just vaping away. My fear is the only studies that will ever be done will be to knock e-cigs down a notch. Would be nice to have actual answers to all these questions, we all feel comfortable with our choices and I know it's a good one for me but I guess I would love to see something verifying my assumptions.
  3. I don't want to beat a dead horse here, I understand about caffeine and that is basically Speakeasy's contention, nicotine when taking "normally" has about the same effect as caffeine which is minimal. If so, that is excellent news though I'm not sure you will ever have the FDA stop looking at nicotine as yet another caffeine. Both sugar and caffeine are available to anyone via a soda, coffee, candy. Drug or not, my acid test is do you need to keep a child proof cap on something to prevent a 4 year old from killing or injuring themselves? If the answer is yes, safety is an issue. I don't see a lot of child proof caps on sugar containers, sodas, etc. Of course maybe there should be but that's a different topic. ;-)
  4. I agree, some comments there are also libelous but I don't think it was a VTer who dropped the f-bomb. I read the comments but at work so will have to wait to see/hear the vid.
  5. I believe there are enough studies (not to mention anecdotal evidence) that water is safe. I will look to see what nicotine studies are out there, but it does appear to be pretty slim. So even with Speakeasy's excellent write-up, I think it would be rush to judgment to call nicotine safe, I believe unlike water, nicotine is considered a drug. And maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty sure it's generally accepted (right or wrong) that something physically addicting should probably not be considered safe.
  6. Congrats to the Colts. Jet and Giant fans in our house. Tough to root against Manning, but I did. At least the Jets put up a good fight almost to the end...
  7. Speaking of Indy - if you're a fan schizo (and other Indy fans) congrats on yesterday. We're Jet and Giant fans in this house, broke my heart. I'll post this over on the lounge so as t not hijack this thread. (oops - too late).
  8. Some of the stores that sell over the net have storefronts so I would guess so. I would imagine it might vary state to state. So once again, I don't know but that hasn't stopped me from offering up an opinion!!! ;-)
  9. Uh oh - I hope I didn't offend? You have a very well written argument. I will have to watch the video and do some research myself (not actual research, just googling). As I think I stated, I just don't know for sure, only what was my understanding. So if all of this is true, I would still hesitate to call vaping safe, just much much safer than smoking. That ultimately is my objection and I always make that point when talking to folks about the e-cig. It also makes another discussion on another thread even more interesting about how insurance companies use a nicotine test to establish whether someone is a smoker. Just in case anyone is following along and has an insurance test, a quick search is showing a period of 48 hours for the nicotine to disappear from the blood and urine. Perhaps it's very quickly gone from the blood, and would require two days to evacuate the urine? The other substance tested for is cotinine and can last up to 7 days. Of course opinions on this are wide and varied and some have to be just incorrect. And of course I am not suggesting someone should answer the smoking test incorrectly. I think ultimately safety might be one of the things that kills e-cigs. Claims of safety by the knucklehead hawkers in the malls, ingestion of e-liquid by a child, something will happen and the FDA will latch on to it. That's why I certainly would love to see someone do a study on just nicotine effects, PG/VG inhalation effects, testing equipment, etc.
  10. I would be curious if you could show a case where it's "virtually harmless". That is not my understandng so I take exception to the comment that one's health will improve exactly the same. I do not know for sure, that's why I'm asking. I'm not trying to be a pill, but I'm kind of rigid in regards to people saying there are no issues with e-cigs. The fact they come from China alone should give everyone pause... ;-) From the wiki...which is ultimately just a wiki. There is no mention in regards to volume, but the wiki seems to be written assuming smoking is the vehicle for nicotine ingestion. I'm also concerned we have no good way of knowing how much nicotine we are ingesting by vaping. Please don't get me wrong, I think it's 1000% better than smoking. "Nicotine has very powerful effects on arteries throughout the body. Nicotine is a stimulant, it raises blood pressure, and is a vasoconstrictor, making it harder for the heart to pump through the constricted arteries. It causes the body to release its stores of fat and cholesterol into the blood.[citation needed] It has been speculated[who?] that nicotine increases the risk of blood clots by increasing plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, though this has not been proven."
  11. You have to love our goobbermint at work. Free money to the banks, change accounting rules for them, don't make them lend money to the small to middle business man which was supposed;y why to gave them the free money, but you have no problem screwing over the small businesses and middle class person. Oh - I understand, no big lobby money or straight donations to the war chest. I've said it before... Apathy then anarchy.
  12. nice site...I will keep it in mind in the future
  13. Good luck. Seems to be the method chosen most times but it appears some people have pop issues afterwards.
  14. Nicotine is addictive, the act of smoking/vaping is not (IMHO), it is a learned as a result of an addiction...explained: http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/index.php?/topic/3551-nic-or-non-nic/page__view__findpost__p__29842
  15. LOL - FYI - they are not lost, I have them on me. I think I got them when I slowed way down on vaping...
  16. I assume this is a windows machine? Looks like one of my fav programs will get rid of it for you, Malwarebytes. My favs are explained here: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407 Get to the section at the bottom where you pick your operating system. I would install and run malwarebtes and superantispyware. Don't run any others (especially combofix) unless you do a backup. If you can, I would do a backup anyway, at least create a system restore point. Also, If you install SAS, I think it runs on windows startup by default, uncheck that option on the main preferences screen. Ccleaner is a great tool as well. I also usually install and run spybot search and destroy on problem machines or to just keep them healthy. http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html
  17. Mine ride is on the left, three years old I think. Had a hard drive issue and no usable backup. Boot drive is on ground out of site. Four drives are my Raid 5 array. New brother on right, T100 server. Three 1.5 TB drives will be another Raid 5 array, was going to get 4 but figured I really didn't need that much storage in the house. Power supply fan is going so have to change that out then I'll put it back together and I might even clean up the dust in the bottom.
  18. Absolutely. Love the 510s. Mega batteries help and of course my fav the spade mmod.
  19. LOL - we did, you weren't listening! ;-)
  20. LOL. One kind of not known, "Smoke you!!!!". Heard in the movie fifth element by the guy I think who was shaving.
  21. I know I'm quoting myself, but I just ran across something called a Mega atty and Mega cart over at TotallyWicked while sniffing around for answers to a post. I don't know why I'm resisting, I know I will end up getting some. Cart holds twice as much as a regular cart. Wonder how the PTB will work on that monster...I'm going to think about it for a day...
  22. Yes - there are places that sell flat tip mouth pieces, usually rounds come with the attys. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the two sites mentioned have flat tips. Totally wicked UK has a forum area, maybe join it and ask people there where to buy what you are looking for, but come back here with all your questions. I've never seen a group as smart as the one here. Or someone will know about the UK sites. Found the whistle tips https://www.dietsmokes.com/products/Joye-510-FLAT-Tip-Blank-Carts-(Whistle-Tip).html I used to get flat tip at innovapor, site changed, can't find them Also, jantyworld has the dura and other models. I'm pretty sure the dura is the 510 (also known as the titan and other names). I think Janty is a pretty respectable company. Juices are okay as well. Go here: http://www.jantyworld.com/ If you mouse over the catalog, you'll see there is a UK, Dutch and a Euro site (including Netherlands). Also, on the right is access to the janty forums. Might get some help there. Sorry for the rambling post, hope it helps. Not sure which of their other products is "pen-style". Maybe the guide I posted can help with that.
  23. I've dealt with totallywicked in the states, seemed good to me. I believe the answer in regards to the 510 is not a pen style (I have no idea what makes something a pen style) but here's a nice guide. http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/index.php?/topic/467-a-guide-to-e-cigs-and-their-model-numbers/
  24. What she said... Also, menthol is tough, I say the best ones (IMO) are VaporTalk, Janty, awesomevapor, wordup and ecopure are pretty good and I like Johnson Creek (cool little background taste with them). I never got into the Cherry, soda, etc. but some people go that route instead of trying to find the exact taste. I went to zero nic so I had some samples around but they're pretty much gone now.
