I had plenty of symptoms, none long lasting though. Sore throats, a cough that was even worse than I was smoking, but it was productive instead of the dry death rattle I had before. Swollen glands, various other little things that I have no idea if they were related or not. One long lasting symptom that is both good and bad is the sense of smell/taste. Not all things smell good...including cigarette smoke on other smokers.

You don't want an opinion of Favre from a Jet fan, but I agree with you. Think he'll retire long enough to miss camp again this year? I was always a believer in defenses being the key to winning. I was psyched the Jets had the best...beef up other areas, keep the defense good and we should be back in the playoffs. But they are the Jets...

I'm Starting To Really Hate Computers
FTJoe replied to FTJoe's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
Hi - thanx for the input, always appreciated. Ultimately I believe that's the issue, when the heat gets up there too much, solder joints and other components get compromised. Because school is starting I don't have the luxury of trying things, compressed air, getting a a monitor on there like speedfan to check the temps. I'm telling you, this thing was perfect 2 weeks ago when I was done setting it up. As is typical, she doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get the new one picked up and setup. I volunteered to setup using something called teamviewer (invaluable remote viewing tool), and that's a goof as the only time I played with OS X was on the netbook I set it up on as a goof. She's a tad too far away for me to run up there, and one of those typical "young adults" who knows everything...and that apparently means those who can kill a computer, but can't for the life of them, take care of it, run the necessary programs to clean it or keep it clean, etc. So I'm sure this will move along slowly until the old one finally quits and it becomes an emergency, again. Meanwhile, I have yet to determine if the nice laptop my son had is fixable, or if I can set the netbook up for him to use. I'm just sick of working on machines that people could, but don't take care of (I had three friends laptops in over the weekend to clean/set up) so I really don't need this from my own family. I'm thinking of telling him he has to use my main computer downstairs for a while. He had a shot at being responsible and blew it and if I find one piece of malware on it... Hmmmmm - obviously still a little frustrated. My wife did complain this morning I was stressing her out, I mentioned then think about how frustrated I am. -
I have no idea, but as always, I'll chime in. I was smoking Marlboro menthol lights at the end. I do know the "experts" think lights aren't any better because light smokers will smoke more but I'm not sure that's true. I always tried to keep the cigs 60 minutes apart from each other and I think most other folks that aren't sitting someplace they can smoke at will probably do the same so I'm not sure I'm buying that theory. In the beginning (many moons ago) I was marlboro red, camel unfiltered up to 3 packs a day but that was really killing me especially since I was still active. Went to menthols and then menthol lights. As far as the PV goes, I started at 24mg, kept to my one per hour regime and going outside because I had no idea how much nic I was taking with cigs, or how much with this. I started mixing to drop it down, and within a couple of months went to zero. So I think there is something to your theory, lets see what others have to say. And if I may add, it really is a shame there does not seem to be a lot of studies on this (or at least ones I can find). Based on the info Speakeasy had, there really should be. But I think it's kind of because nicotine addicts have the rep they have (not good) but caffeine addicts are "go getters" and normal!! I'm a caffeine addict as well, once a year or so I'll go a day without caffeine in the morning, that headache later on is BRUTAL.

I always tell folks if you can get rid of even one cigarette that's better, anything after that is a bonus. Too many folks feel failure if they drift back or don't stop smoking altogether and that's understandable, but they shouldn't. In what life could you have gone 1.5 packs a day to a couple of cigs without being in a coma? I know I couldn't.
-
To me the goof is to be implicitly saying cigarettes are safe, you don't see them taking those away. What a bunch of crud, talk about hypocrites. I see kids smoking cigarettes, most people get addicted as kids, who are the powers that be trying to fool? If someone really wants to make things better do the darn studies on e-cigs, ban cigarettes now that you have a real alternative and make it available. Oh wait, then all that lobby money will disappear, it's almost like they really don't care about us!!! ;-) I'm still hoping a journal or the cancer society, lung association, someone will step up and maybe get a school to do the studt.

One problem is there are already reports of kids getting them in the malls, sting operations that show them selling stuff to minors. We know the malls suck, but nothing stops a teen with a CC from getting them online as well. So how is that going to be prevented? In reality, teens get cigarettes pretty easily as well, but it is illegal and supposedly controls are in place. I'm just afraid this is all going to get squashed and it will not be because of the upstanding folks we deal with, but the mall rats and less reputable rip-off artists. They are giving the tobacco companies and pharma companies via the legislators enough rope to hang everyone.

Thanx - I felt better after typing it. I might giggle myself in the future. -
Good point about not duplicating it. I'm one of the most pessimistic jet fans out there, but I feel pretty good we should still be at least exciting next year (we never get our hopes up).

Not a California person, in fact I'm kind of shocked JB is the SAG which I just saw. But I would have thought he'd be a little more open minded on the subject, at least that's how I remember him from a while back. What the heck is going on?

I forgot about blowing them out...thanx

A Darkened Room, My Sleek Black Passthrough...
FTJoe replied to Phaseman66's topic in New Vapers Forum
I stopped dripping but with a 510 atty, I always wondered if I simply turned the bottle over, got the dropper on the wick, and counter x seconds, would I be able to get the "correct" amount to leech out into the wick? I used to try to get a drop at the end of the dropper without having it actually drop off, then place on to the wick, that kind of worked as well. -
I've tried almost everything. I think the absolute best idea out there is nightly leave them upside down on a napkin or towel to drain. The goal is to get that juice in the atty out before it congeals. Now some folks feel that's the best hit of the day the next day by leaving it in there. Next, the towel/tissue gently pressed against the wick to soak up juice. Keep going until no more. I would say, unless you are having an issue don't boil or use everclear. Bear in mind, I've not had an issue with either and some folks swear it brought some attys back to life but others swear it caused issues as well. Whatever you do, if you remove what is there, please make sure you prime it again with several drops. If you have some you used and then haven't for a hile, you might want to experiment boiling them. Get a screen that dips into the water, or a slotted wooden spoon. Get the water boiling then get the atty in there. Don't let it sit on the bottom of the pan else it will get too hot. 5-10 minutes, get them out, blow them out (after they cool please), then let them dry for at least a day (I don't but that's the feeling). Prime and try them out.

Some of you remember me complaining about my daughters laptop being infected. I finally gave up and we reinstalled everything over the Christmas break. She went back to school early and I reminded her I still have to go over the backup methodology. She went packing with a 320GB drive that was partitioned into three partitions, one for booting so it's small, I moved her documents so the music is on a second partition and a third for taking backups of the boot partition on a weekly basis (I use Acronis). I also sent a 320GB external, with a backup image and a third drive identical to the one in her computer, sans the backup partition. This is the emergency drive in case all else fails that she slaps in and keeps going. This took a while to get all this working as I had to of course work around her busy schedule... ;-) So she calls me to inform me that school is starting Monday, the 5 key doesn't work, shift+w didn't work but now does, something wrong with characters being entered on the signon screen, but the best is, it will randomly scream like a stuck pig (yes even 3:00 in the morning, her sorority loves her) after typing random characters and won't stop unless the power key is held down. So seems like impending hardware failure, I think heat related as HP has the fan intake on the bottom and the kids sit with the lappys on the bed. So being a cheapskate but recognizing something has to happen, I figure I'll send her a perfectly good Lenovo T42 (they are tough) my son is using. Handed down from my wife when she upgraded to a tablet. I tell him he can use the $200 netbook I have set up with OSX/Windows 7/Ubuntu. He's excited as he's been using it off and on. So I get his machine and now I know why he's using it. Funny as I always tell my friends if their kids are drifting to their machines, they've probably killed theirs. I thought my kids knew better than to leave it without telling me as soon as there is an issue, but I guess not. So this is stuffed with Viruses, is blue screening with possible hardware issues (but it could be viral). So the bottom line is, and I had my daughter swear she'd take care of it, instead of getting a cheap Dell that she would kill, I got her a Mac Pro. I feel dirty. Thank for letting me vent.

ooooohhhhh - pretty colors... I guess my issue is if you saw the other postings about a poll at aq college, there seems to be more misinformation out there than I thought. I think if we want a groundswell of positive thoughts for vaping, we need to address these negative ones. That's also why I'm such a pill about safety, one of the items the FDA is hanging their hat on are false claims. On a lighter note I saw this as a related video, funny.

Too funny. Oh well, thought I was a genius finding them!

Assault On The Us Constitution
FTJoe replied to ddavelarsen's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
In regards to the UN, couldn't agree more. I'm ambivalent on owning a gun, handguns especially should be well regulated IMO. I probably will soon, once apathy turns to anarchy. But I do like the never ending argument about the second amendment. I for one do not believe it was meant to give the right for citizens/civilians to simply pack whatever they want. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution I breezed through this and something I didn't realize near the bottom was the very terminology about the meaning of "to keep and bear arms". Some argue that the term is meant as a military term, not civilian. The wiki is a very interesting read. So my point always has been if it was written in regards to making sure a militia was maintained, then taking away someone's gun is not an attack against the constitution. -
I posted a comment, that was shocking listening to the video. My comment: I'm a little stunned someone presumably educated would publicly makes comments such as these. Did I just hear a doctor say that if you were to stop smoking cigarettes and replace them with e-cigarettes you MAY lower your risk of getting lung cancer a LITTLE bit? There is one thing the good doctor is absolutely correct about, that there is someone with an agenda and they are trying to get your money from you by incorrectly representing an alternative. You only get one guess who that is.

Is Vapor Addiction Real? I Think Its All About Choices.
FTJoe replied to PennMason's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Cool on the offense, I was afraid I put you off based on your last opening. As I said, I thought your take on this was that nicotine is similar to caffeine and assuming that's true, that would be excellent news. Kids have free access to caffeine. Though I doubt the FDA given its present state of stupidity will give up control. When pressed about this by others, I like to be armed with all data available. When I get a chance, I'll do some more searches and I will definitely look at the links provided when I get a chance. As I also pointed out though, you're talking about normal use of the product. I believe even small amount of e-liquid accessible to a kid would be disastrous. And how long before some knucklehead teen wants to see if drinking it gives them a rush? Then we're in huge trouble and maybe we should be. As I've always stated in the past, I know e-cigs are great but there are obvious forces at work against it and I would love to see some controls and testing in place and some simple studies done. That would remove some of the teeth of these BS arguments against it. I understand this is really two different issues, but safety is safety. Great news if nicotine really isn't that bad for you. -

I don't drip anymore, I like the Pyramid tea bag mod for my 510. But dripping is without the filler. I think bottom line is, only 2-3 drops, take a long slow drag, don't pull like you would a cigarette. Drippers will be here shortly to add/correct me. Oh...and I think they keep the e-cig pointed "down".

Jet fan here...Favre did a lot better for you guys than when we had him. Not too many Jet fans are Brett fans. Agreed om the suck part...
-
That would be funny...I can't wait to hear what this guy is saying, then I'll probably post a response. Nothing nasty, just the truth that I quit it all using the e-cig, even the e-cig itself though in truth I'm hitting it more now to see if it'll stop me from eating so much...

I was 510 first, then got a JS for battery life. I loved the JS at first, then had some issues where to seemed like it was clogged up after a day or so. I would switch off to the 510s my wife had then realized I should just get some more 510 equipment and be done with it. JS floating around in the bottom of my computer bag as a backup(version 2 I believe). Have a spade now as my number one and that's enough for me. backups when I go out are two 510s with mega batts.
