  1. Must type quickly, power out, UPS is good, but lappy dying... cool beans, glad you like
  2. I agree as well, and if this were a "reasonable" government, they would do that recognizing this is probably safer than smoking. There are precedents with cancer drugs in allowing them to temporarily bypass some phases of study. Having said that, if they deem it should be under their control, wouldn't they actually be remiss in not stopping its use until it's studied? I know its not what everyone wants to hear, and I'm not suggesting it should go that way. But I would like controls on the juice, the devices, etc. Listen, they are putting cadmium in kids toys, anyone here feel real secure about what the attys are made of? And that's not something I would expect the FDA to oversee, but the US Consumer Safety group. Its a mess because this is a ground swell movement and not a big corp. So the pharma and tobacco want it stopped as its eating into their profits, they will probably get it done unless the big e-cig companies get something going. Even then, there are two problems, we don't use those popular devices, and they are part of the issue selling to minors in the mall, making false claims, etc. They probably should be stopped!! I know I'm not presenting a solution here, and its a bleak outlook, so I'll wind down...
  3. http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/index.php?/topic/4389-got-facial-hair-got-condensation-on-that-facial-hair/page__view__findpost__p__38195 Bottom line is people with asthma inhale medicated steam all the time, under doctor's orders.
  4. I guess I just don't understand...here's wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_and_Drug_Administration_(United_States) The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or USFDA) is an agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, one of the United States federal executive departments, responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety, tobacco products, dietary supplements, prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical drugs (medications), vaccines, biopharmaceuticals, blood transfusions, medical devices, electromagnetic radiation emitting devices (ERED), veterinary products, and cosmetics. I believe, and its just me thinking (ouch), that as long as there is a drug involved, so will the FDA be involved. Are we saying not to look at any drug because its all personal choice? Or just not at this particular delivery system/NRT? They can't figure out if something is "good" or a scam or bad if they don't get studies. We just don't get to decide that they should look at studies for a stomach cancer drug or Laetrile but not require studies for this. Even the nicotine aside, I wouldn't mind studies on VG and PG inhalation. I know there is an issue with whether the FDA is being fair or not, and I 100% agree they are not, but I'm just not sure how people thing this is not going to come under their control, at least for a while as the gum, patches, etc did.
  5. Check out the side effects post an general health topics. I was hacking for a week at least, but productive, not unproductive...
  6. Maybe someone here knows what exactly is the charter of the FDA. My wife deals with pharma so she might know but she's traveling. I ask because I really don't think it matters if its meant to get someone off smoking/nicotine, etc. I'm guessing they just want to be involved with a drug delivery system that's new in nature and ultimately, that's what this is (hey, another name in my list). My issue is, they don't do studies, they examine studies and give approvals, so that would leave us out in the cold. I also assume even when something goes OTC, the FA is still involved.
  7. Agreed...like it or not, in my opinion, juice should be under control of the FDA at least for a while just as all the other NRTs were (I think). Problem is, who's got the money for the phased studies? FDA I believe just reviews, so the reality is if they get control, it'll be wiped out until a study is done. IMHO.
  8. Cigarette cessation, smoking cessation, nicotine replacement therapy, really cool way to finally do what I've tried for 30+ years to do, it has a lot of names... I think there's no choice but to fall under the eye of the FDA. If it was a normal watchdog kind of thing, that would be cool, unfortunately is appears they just want to vaporize e-cigs. I'm not even sure what constitutes a mandate to be under the control of the FDA. I know every NRT before had to, and then went OTC was it was heavily in use. Whole 'nother thread out there with people struggling to define what vaping is...
  9. Yeah - as noted earlier (by you?), could make it two separate items, a PV which in and of itself is nothing, and juice with nicotine. I would hazard a s.w.a.g that 98% of the people using them do so with nicotine. So what we want to call them is irrelevant, they are ultimately NRTs. Now I used it to get to 0, and in doing so, I lost the urge to vape as well, so I quit everything. But I still insist using them with nicotine is better than smoking. As an FYI I'm now vaping as much as I can as I think quitting vaping brought on some weight gain...
  10. Everytime it's in between rounds, I expect a hockey game to breakout! Sorry, had to go for the old joke...
  11. I know I'm O/T but last post. Wasn't the same story. This was a guy not realizing when he signed up with this company on the advice of a friend to help him quit smoking, there is no turning back. Methods of coercion were extreme, suffice to say, he quit before his wife lost the first finger. Ended with them sitting down with the friend and his wife, you guessed it, missing a digit or two...Guess SK tried to quit a few times.
  12. Thought that was Quitter's Inc? Movie of short stories, Cat's Eye, short stories following a cat around? Same one as the short story? Alan King played the head of Quitter's Inc. Only remember because it came up yesterday in a conversation with someone trying to quit. Has had 3 of my 510 batts, 4 attys and alot of juice for about 3 months while she thinks about it...grrrrrr.
  13. yes - sorry for the confusion, question was asked about the Ego and JantyStick. I thoughtlessly dragged the Ego into the mix with the Janty Stick. I have a JS, it's a battery, body, atty and carts. The ego is indeed only a battery, atty and carts. My comments really only relate to the JS (unless V3 is different), but at $25 a battery...I wouldn't choose the ego as a fist real PV. I did say my comments were simple...I just like the "inexpensiveness" of the 510 parts, is very appealing and a great way to have a backup when you go for the higher volt model, longer battery life, etc.
  14. Uh oh - I sense the argument coming up on the definition of a mod (but not from me). I think you're right its not a mod, but I guess my point is these are not the regular fodder one finds out there, attys and batts, all at $10 a piece or so. With the 510 starter, you have an extra batt, atty, etc. One fails no big deal, vape away while waiting for more. If the ego itself fails, there is no backup body. Basically these are devices where the electronics are separated from the batteries. Once your unit fails, you better have a backup unit as you are sending it in or smoking again which many people hate doing.
  15. I find the menthol/mint simulates a throat hit. I have Jonson Creek arctic, Janty Polar Mint, Vapor Talk Mentha, Vermont Vapor Cool Mint, Ecopure menthol and I think I have some chocomint from vermont vapor and Johnson Creek all 0mg. If your not a menthol hater I have no problem jamming some of them in a 3ml bottles and sending, pm me if there's interest. Some people hate Johnson creek just so you know, I like...
  16. My simple advice is get the 510, get some backup attys, backup batts maybe, backup juice, backup charger. If you really want to go the mod route, then if it breaks, you have your backups to get you through a repair. If you choose a 510 mod or adapters that utilize the 510 attys, then it's not money wasted. If you feel your old one will serve as a backup or you don't mind going to cigs if something goes wrong, then a mod is in the picture. The mods are about volts and/or battery life which can be important as well. decisions decisions ;-) Added if you were a complete noobie, I would recommend the 510 just to make sure you will get into it so you don't waste the money but that's not really the case here...
  17. Yeah - but its actually another moneymaker for the state as they changed the rules on how much the retailer gets back on redemptions (or lack of, I forget). My point is they didn't do it for the environment, though to stand against it means you are, they aren't taxing soda for the health benefits, though if you stand against it, it sounds like you're a jerk. The state of NY actually said if it isn't passed, they won't get half a billion dollars. Shouldn't they say if it isn't passed, kids will stay and get fatter? Isn't the goal supposed to be to tax the use down, and therefore actually lose the tax dollars? My point is they are hypocrites, same with cigs and gas, they want the money but claim its for the good of everyone.
  18. Hi Larry- I posted this earlier... VaporTalk.com (click on the store above) zero mg Mentha. Also electro nic stix, awesomevapor, Johnson Creek, vermont vapor, innovapor, diet smokes and JantyUSA all carry 0 mg. So you do plan on doing 0mg just to appease the hand to mouth fixation? I believe nicotine is addictive in and of itself, if you still smoke and want to go to 0, I would start with nicotine and reduce over time to No-N would be my advice. I have many posts on my theory how the hand to mouth is not an addiction but a pavlovian response as a result of the physical addiction. Apologies if I'm being dense...
  19. So, many munis and even states are going bankrupt. Fed is well on its way while trying to print their way to economic freedom, well at least freedom for the banksters. Where does anyone think these shortfalls are going to be made up? Does anyone think these knuckleheads will really reduce spending and spend reasonably? This is nothing, NY State is already grumbling if they can't get the soda tax passed, they will have another half a billion dollar shortfall. They love these taxes, aka sin taxes, to go against means you are for obesity, etc. They have deposits on water bottles now just like beer and soda.
  20. Bootleg juice, hmm hmm hmmmmmmm. I'm scared enough not being sure of what's in the juice NOW, bootleggers?
  21. Recreational? Ouch, there comes the specter of kids vaping, but I get the point. No matter what these are an NRT, no NRT has to be defined as something that has to be stopped, though that is the goal. I know at least two people that quit and continue popping nic gum all day long. I would go further and say PVs can be used as a quit device for not only smoking but nicotine, in fact the best one available.
  22. Crud - I gave away my 24mg...glad to hear you're not stressing...I have tons of zero VT Mentha but I'm thinking that's not going to be helpful at all!! Smart, isn't I? ;-)
  23. Keep them out of the sun and they should be good for a while (year or more?). Maybe you just killed your taste buds?
  24. I ended up just forcing myself to vape while I thought about going and getting a cig because there were none in the house. I know what I said earlier, but apparently it is bothering you so maybe you should try and not have any in the house. We've all run out of cigs the night before and had to go out in the morning to get them. If they're not there in the house, maybe you can push past the desire to have one? Your a menthol smoker? VT Mentha is a killer (good way), get a high strength bottle for the morning is another possibility. Anyway, goal is none, but 3 a day ain't bad either. Don't stress too much.
  25. I always thought the same thing but I think the goal is to simulate the space taken by a pack of cigs. When on the go, I take my spade, a small bottle of juice and two eyeglass cases with four 510s loaded for bear. Two mega batts (and my spade) for me, two regulars for my wife. I make sure they stand up in my inside pocket.
