  1. They can do almost whatever they want, especially an employer. If you're talking the state, they have power as well. As far as the rant, its the latest wave of tax generation. We're going to tax things that are bad, so people give them up. Bunch of BS, last thing they want is people giving it up, else they won't get the tax dollars. NYS is already crying they have to pass the soda tax and so they can get billions of dollars. If you voice concern, you sound like a jerk because you sound like you want fat kids and dumps to fill up with recycles.
  2. Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, Elaine, you have the metabolism of a 65 year old women!! Something like that...
  3. Maybe its me, and I do digress, to teach by talking is one thing and varies bsaed on age, when you hand it over to (what is that kid, 6 or 7), then I have a problem with that. That is the distinction I am making and I don't think I could have been clearer. I keep forgetting this isn't in the lounge, open a topic up over there is anyone wants to continue the side thread.
  4. I just remember last time this came up in regards to life insurance premiums. Kind of stinks that such a healthy alternative to smoking is penalized the same. Not sure what they could really test for to distinguish the two though. As I said though,4 days and lots of water I see eople saying works. I know when I smoked though, no way I could go for 4 days without.
  5. Sorry - but I thought this was on track. Its not the video that is an issue to me, but the ammunition of a parent is teaching their young child how to use it. We want to self-police, but here is a possible reason we shouldn't. Are you saying its okay to teach them how to use it, just don't let anyone see? Or is the discussion on the production quality of the video? ;-) I'm confused.
  6. I guess my point is I would have waited until he was a little older to teach him how to use the e-cig, a gun and a condom and I'm pretty sure that does not make me a poor parent. Explaining something in an age appropriate context is different than not explaining anything and different than teaching them how to do it. I was trying to be funny in regards to a condom, a kid that age shows up to school and starts talking about condoms and how to use them, you might have a whole lot of explaining to do to some people who will entirely lack a sense of humor or understanding on the subject. ;-)
  7. If you have that many get a 30 day pill pill organizer, throw them in there and write or label what you want above them on the usually clear/opaque plastic.
  8. Second drug tested test is cotinine? I see people saying they passed tests after four days and drinking a gallon of water a day...FWIW.
  9. Sux - only way to tell...could you go zero nic for a couple of days?
  10. I think its a stretch to teach him what its for as opposed to teaching him how to use it, video aside. Do you show a child how to operate a gun, or tell them what it is and how dangerous it is and they shouldn't ever use one? I understand they are quite different, but really. Next thing we'll see is this kid showing us his daddy's prophylactics. ;-)
  11. There's a list of common symptoms somewhere around here in the forums (just anecdotal). I usually waited a week to see if things got better regardless if I thought it was a result of vaping. Again, I don't know if the cold sores were and the safest advice anyone could give is to stop and see if it gets better, then start up again and see if they come back. Of course that means back to smoking which sux and why I waited a week to see. I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV!! ;-)
  12. At least we'll know who to blame if a TSA alert goes out to be on the lookout for a heat generating device that can be broken down into several parts in order to disguise its intended use!! ;-) just kidding, but you never know, I'm a big believer in no good deed goes unpunished, though I do keep trying.
  13. I have among many other things but I have no idea if related or not (which is kind of scary). Also not sure if a PG allergy would manifest itself like this, maybe try a VG?
  14. Just wanted to say it is a healthy discussion and was worried more about others thinking I was being a jerk. The issue is you understand the risks but the FDA is here to a large extent for the people that don't. Do not underestimate the large number of ignorant and stupid people out there that require protection. And besides that, the otherwise smart people who are assuming there is no poison in the juice, heavy metals in the attys, nicotine levels are correct, etc. That assumption may be a bad one... My example stands, they are here to make sure when I say buy this potion, it contains all natural ingredients and will regrow your hair it is safe and doesn't contain a natural poison, or even caffeine that is discouraged from pregnant women. If its something they are not sure of, it will not be sold until it is studied and labeled. I won't argue if they made false claims, that is a bunch of BS and I agree. All they need do, which is I assume why they are making the claims, is say this needs to be studied and labeled. The burden is not on them to prove anything, its on the people who sell it and make money to prove it does what it says and its safe. This also protects those people from lawsuits. Apathy then anarchy - stock up, vaping equipment, food and ammo!! ;-)
  15. For my friends I use the standard rubberized cap that goes on the 510 carts to prevent leakage. That'll take a sharpie with a one letter code.
  16. Ooops - I guess the item is from nhaler...not the author.
  17. okay - I sent a note. Apparently the person behind it is from www.nhaler.com. Supplier...policing ourselves?
  18. I see enough folks posted against it. And there you go, see my last set of rants. I'm telling ya, we will screw this up all by ourselves.
  19. That isn't how this works. I'm not even sure they are charged with regulating. Bottom line is they make sure things are safe. So they will not allow a "drug/drug delivery system" loose without seeing the studies. The burden to do that is not on them. I mix six household chemicals together and say it'll grow hair. The burden is not on them to prove it, the burden is on me to make sure no one here has a chance to drink ammonia until I submit studies on it. They really do need to know if pregnant women, folks taking anti-depressants, etc. should steer clear of something, even things that are good. They are basically about labeling, think of it that way, things have to have a label, who can take, who shouldn't. I know we hate them in regards to e-cigs, but they do a good job overall. If this was a fair world, we would know who was directing the FDA so we could campaign against them. Last post because I fear I am getting people to rail against me (actually I don't care but I am trying to help), just trying to say if I were a hard core vaper and addicted to nic, in case things don't go right, STOCK UP NOW!! I hope it doesn't go there, but fear it will.
  20. Because in the idealized world in which I live, the FDA's charter is to protect us. I do not know what is in the juice, I want it tested. in this crazy perfect world, I want to be safe. The FDA, in their purest form is a good thing. Unless pushed, this will be my second to last post on the subject. I'm trying to say in this really messed up, socialist/fascist state we are heading towards, I think we will all be out of luck soon. Obviously money is behind the FDA campaign. I don't believe its the FDA themselves, but money is going to our beloved politicians, and they are pushing as hard as they can against evil e-cigs through the FDA. Again, most of what we use is from China, they are putting cadmium in toys, poison in baby formula and pet food. Will our US providers police themselves and make sure things are cool in their best interest? Yes. But...most of their product comes from China. Stock up, find some DIY flavors and reduce to no nic. That is my advice.
  21. Agree on most points except tax, I doubt they would handle the tax. I agree but you won't know until a study is done. Safety of the device and fluids are still in question. I think if the fluids were separated, nic and non-nic, that might help butyou would be asking the government to be reasonable. ;-) Yes a ruse, but they will hang their hat on the stings that are finding kids buying these. And if studies aren't done, effects on "kids" will be unknown. I agree with the point but you won't know until a study is done. Its not a matter of dangerous or not dangerous. Its a matter of being able to to determine labeling, who should take, who shouldn't, side effects, etc. That's basically what the FDA does, and for certain items, control via the law. Sad but probably true.
  22. Good point. I'd still worry about some busy body know-it-all telling the town council that it violates some non-smoking ordinance or law, they're doing drugs in there, its a gateway activity to drugs, it promotes the activity to kids, etc. So if something like that happens, the coffee better be damn good with everyone having to go outside to vape...but then again, I'm a worrier
  23. I'll chime in, no idea if correct... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycerol Glycerol is also produced as a byproduct of refining of cooking and salad oils, and various brands (e.g, NOW) are sold to the retail market as "Pure Vegetable Source" glycerin, 100% pure, which is safe for ingestion. it's water...The question really is, is the glycerin in your lungs, I believe the answer might be yes, and I think that's okay as well...these are all musing of a madman...VG and PG I believe are very safe
  24. Second that. And I have to think that market (dense pop) has a bazillion Starbucks. Also, you set up sales of anything besides coffee, could be trouble. I'm with gdub on this, ddave is the crazy one!!! ;-)
  25. . Was replying and lappy power went out. Now on my netbook (triple boot, win 7 mac os/x and ubuntu, have to take a pic sometime). FDA sucks, they are under the direction of congress who is getting paid by pharma to kill this stuff. I have no doubt...
