  1. I know you did not build the coil, but this is why we all say not to trust the ohm reading on a device when building coils. The readings will be different on every device you use. Having said that, your Provari is more likely the most accurate of the two devices. The ohms will not change because of the voltage applied.
  2. I must say to that the twisted build really makes a huge difference in not only flavor but also in vapor production in a tank setup.
  3. Yeah it will not hurt to just get a verity of sizes in both round and flat. That is what I did to test for the right build. I bought the 50ft size for testing then got the 250 foot size of what I liked.
  4. You could do the same build that I do in the KPT heads in an Aspire head. You may even consider a vertical build for the aspire. You may be able to use a larger gauge. The flat wire is a little different from the round. The larger the number the lower the resistance, where as the round round it is the lower number that gives less resistance. Temco has a good chart for matching what flat wire is equal to what round wire. I use 32 and .5 for the KPT coils because I use them on my APV without making a huge coil to hit the 1.2ohm mark. If your building aspire coils I would go with the 32 .5 twist. If your doing a dripper start with the 28 and .9 twist to start with.
  5. I don't think that is the case. There are still a lot of Tankers here including my self... It still is my go to. I just like a little more when sitting around the house. It is that different strokes for different thing. Vaping is changing every day and you have found what you like and that is not a bad thing. Some just like more vapor than what a twist battery and tank can give. This is one of the reasons I started building my own tank coils. I have the convenience of the tank and the vapor production I want to stay off the stinkies. I started out with the cigalikes because that is we had at the time, but it always left me wanting more. Now I have what I like and stick with it just like you. Smoking has been around for a long time and always attracts new people. Vaping is not any different except it is, IMO, less harmful. I my self don't drink, but many people do it is a matter of personal choice. That's not to say I don't from time to time. You still a lot of friends here BC and we would hate to loose your wit and company.
  6. Your part right, it also the position of the coil. Instead of laying parallel to the deck it is set at a 45 degree angle to the deck.
  7. The Tiger coil is more of a flavor coil build but will produce good vapor as well. The one I posted is actually loose, you should twist it to the point that no round wire is showing. If you go to far with it it will star to knot up like the rubber band on a the toy airplanes. I'm more of a flavor chaser than a cloud chaser so I like them. There are better build for cloud chasing.
  8. I would be afraid of any e-Liquid maker that did not disclose it's ingredients. I have seen this brand in many convenience stores. I did a search on the internet and could not find them. Do they list a web site on the bottle/box? If they do, they may have an ingredients listing there.
  9. I don't see why would be a problem. Are you doing a single coil build? (One side) A dual coil build may have issues if they are different sizes. (lengths)
  10. The "Tiger Coil" are 2 wires twisted together. The original was done with 28g round and 0.9 Flat Kanthal. Once you twist the wire then you could try a parallel build. Doing this in parallel, I think you would find that it would be so thick that you would hard time (without drilling the post holes) getting in in the post holes. If your looking expand on a twisted coil build just follow OHMs law and be careful.
  11. Found this site while searching for reviewers. I thought some my benefit from what they offer. I have seen a lot of posts asking about what E-Liquids are good, Have you heard of... This is a site that is Data-basing reviews. They have many vendors with good and bad reviews. They them selves don't do reviews but depend on their members to post reviews about what they have tried. I would be nice to see some of mine listed here, hint hint LOL Anyway, check it out, you many find something you like. http://juicedb.com/
  12. Welcome to V|T. Sounds like a solid set up. You will find quite a bit of DIY help here.
  13. At least it will be here when it is needed. You should have seen all the mistakes before I corrected them. LOL That's what happens when you try and make a large post when your sleepy.
  14. Your Welcome Tam. Yes that is a twisted micro coil that I described at the beginning of the post. It is a smaller version of the Tiger coil. It gives the higher resistance to use on any APV and fit in a KPT head. If you were to try this with the 28g round and .9 flat wire it wouldn't fit in the small space you have in a KPT head.
  15. I was doing a favor for a friend and thought others may benefit from this. I took pics as went to help it make sense. I know some of you rebuild your Kanger coils as do I. I have 4 ATM in my rotation that I have been dry burning and rewicking since April. All of them are still going strong and have not had to replace them yet. I have a build that I do that is durable, produces nice vapor, and good flavor. It is a 1.2-3ohm bulid using Twisted 32g round and .5 Flat wire @ 8x7 wraps. This twist is a mico tiger coil that will fit in a Kanger head and be usable on most any battery safely. To do the coil you will need: 32g Kanthal 0.5 Kanthal 16g blunt needle Electric Drill (To twist the wire) Tweezers (for crimping) If you do not already build coils or are wanting a further explanation on this, I will do a step by step, pic by pic on building the coil later. Once you have a rebuilt coil, the trick in keeping it going is the re wicking. I do not advise this for a OEM Kanger head. You will find it difficult and in most cases end up damaging the coil anyway. This is meant for a rebuilt head and in most cases uses a heaver gauge wire Kanthal than the OEMs. Lets get started. To rewick the coil you will need: Tweezers Organic Cotton or Japanese Cotton E-Liquid or straight PG VG This coil is one that I just built and dry burning is not needed. If you are doing a rewick take your tweezers and carefully, pull out the old wick. Some times the wick can be fuzed to the coil with gunk. In this case, just burn off the old wick as you will be replacing it anyway. Remove a small amount of Cotton from your cotton ball Roll it loosely on one end roll it tight to make it easy to thread into the coil Take your tweezers and pull it through the coil making sure it moves freely but not loose. If it is to loose you will get leaking. If it is to tight it will not wick well and you will get dry hits. NOTE: Pay close attention to the coil and make sure it is not touching the side of the coil head. This will cause a short. Trim off the excess cotton on the end you used to thread the cotton in the coil. Cut it off at the edge of the coil head. Once this is done take the longer end and fold it over the on top of the coil. This will be your favor wick. If you have used to much cotton it will cause a harder draw when complete. Sometimes you need to twist it a bit so it fits nicely in the grove of the head. Make sure when you fold it to leave extra cotton beyond the coil head. This will be trimmed later. NOTE: This is when you want to juice up the wick. take a few drops and wet the wick. This will do two things. It will prime the wick. and protect it from burning off with the first couple hits. It can also help in folding the wick and placing it in the coil head groove. Now place your chimney back on the head. This will hold your flavor wick in place. Now it is time to trim up the wick. Trim both sides of the wick using your edge of the coil head as your guide. Your done install the newly rewicked coil and Vape.
  16. The only reports I have seen about Texas are a some eGo's that blew when charging. Most were people charging them to long or not using the charger that came with the battery. Do you have a link? If so please post it.
  17. Dead shorting a 26650 MNKE 20amp Don't take battery safety lightly!
  18. Yes, Organic cotton for wick and some Kanthal for coils. Size of Kanthal would depend on the build. (Or have a Vape Shop do a build for you) You will also need Good Batteries (rated for your build), Charger and Ohm meter. This is one reason I take issue with Ebay. - You will get everything in photos - Kayfun comes with stainless and clear tank (There is no KayFun pictured, it is a Nimbus RDA) - Both units are Brushed Stainless Steel Beware of what you buy from Ebay. There is more than one post about people getting ripped off. Buy from a local shop or a reliable online vendor. You may spend a little more, but you can be assured of what you get. If it is a good local shop, they will help you buy what you need.
  19. You forgot one of the most important things in your list. A ohm reader or Multimeter. Having a way to read ohms (Do not trust a E-Cig device) is a absolute must when building coils.
  20. This is a good site for info on Cloud Chasing. Read through the info and it will give you many tips on equipment and builds. It is a closed group but you can join.
  21. Not really, You need really good air flow and you will not get that in a Tank. There are some good RBAs out there, but none will give you the vapor you want. Most are Top coil and need juice at at-least a 50/50 mix to wick. The Kayfun is a bottom coil, but the air flow will not do. You may be a good candidate for what is called a REO, but those have limited RDAs that will work with them.
  22. There is a lot of info on doing builds in the Cloud Chasing section of the forum. 1. You will need a RDA if you really want to cloud chase. 2. You will need to learn about doing it safely (Do your homework and research) Battery safety, Building Coils, OHMs Law, meter testing coils. It is not something you want to just jump into without taking the time to learn. We don't want to hear that you need face reconstruction. 3. Again you will need a good RDA (Rebuildable Drip Atomizer) 4 Learn how to build coils for flavor and clouds. Welcome to V|T
