I DIY all my own juice so i can always make it when i get low.. But the worst one was just a day ago. I dumped over a 250 ml bottle and the cap wasn't on tight and poped off. I had forgot to tighten it... Lost about 30-35ml into the carpet.

Poll The First - Your Analog Type
Compenstine replied to ddavelarsen's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
Was a 1 1/2, 2 pack a day Camel filter smoker for over 35 years. I find the 24mg nic does me fine. I tried 36 once and it made me feel ill dizzy and sick to my stomach.I have back slid a couple times but now that I have a nice mod I feel more saticfied with the vapor production. It is more like analogs when I vape. -
I liked the 510, 901 and Love my SID (other) I have an ample supply of adapters... My favorite combo before I got some tanks and my SID was a 901 or 510 atty on an 801 batt.

HFN, LOL I would Vape on! I would more than likely not vape tobacco flavors any more though.

Vote For A Reason You Choose E-Cig
Compenstine replied to xeocigs's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
All of the above and more LOL. How many analogs could make it through the Grand Rapids ride at MI Adventure and take a puff as you get off the ride. True Story... You should have seen the look on the guys face that saw my drag on my E-Cig after hitting every water fall on the ride. He was in the same car as us and saw me get soaked to the bone. Me) *Pull out my old trusty 510 take a long drag...exhale... Me) *Yeap Still works!" Guy) "You Had That Lit The Whole Time?" Pricless -
Micro coils.... That must be in making coils 400, I'm still in making coils 220.. LOL
-
Looks like your coils are way to tight, loosen the wraps with a Xato knife. The top coil in that pic looks smaller that the other and to be touching the base. You should also trim your leeds before testing, helps prevent possable shorts.

Just thought I re-introduce my self :)
Compenstine replied to Compenstine's topic in New Vapers Forum
Thanks everyone I like this board it is very friendly. Absolutely, but because it is rather unique, I may... may look into a design patten first. I'm really going outside the box.. err...a Tube for this MOD. -
Been away from the boards for a while, life has a nasty way of redirecting us somtimes. Been Vaping for a few years so I'm not really a noob. I DIY all my own juice and used to sell cig-a-likes and DIY flavors in my computer store. Things have sure come a long way in the vaping world since then, Mods, Tanks, Mecanicals... . Hell i was deaming of a tank mod years ago just couldn't seem to get it to work but always thought it was good idea. LOL Love the RBAs and now have 2 different types, 4 Drank Tanks and 1 AGA T2. I also have some of the Non rebuildable iClear 16s. They work fantastic on my old cig-alike-batts. My Vape of choice now is a SID Mod with the AGA T2 I have also recently restarted working on my own Mod. All this new stuff I'm seeing is alowing me to rethink and build an old design i had in my mind. Anyway Howdy again hope to be more involved in the boards as I work on my projects.

No, when I inquired it was just more to ask if they could. The cost factor was to wide for them to make any quote without more information on how many fluids I wanted tested and what they would tested for. I had talked to other labs that did quote me 25K on the low side to 100k or more depending on the testing to be done.

I received this canned response to my comment: Dear K, Thank you for writing the Division of Drug Information, in the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today issued warning letters to five electronic cigarette distributors for various violations of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) including unsubstantiated claims and poor manufacturing practices. Also today, in a letter to the Electronic Cigarette Association, FDA said the agency intends to regulate electronic cigarette and related products in a manner consistent with its mission of protecting the public health. The letter outlines the regulatory pathway for marketing drug products in compliance with the FDCA. For a drug product to gain FDA approval, a company must demonstrate to the agency that the product is safe and effective for its intended use. The company must also demonstrate that manufacturing methods are adequate to preserve the strength, quality and purity of the product. "FDA invites electronic cigarette firms to work in cooperation with the agency toward the goal of assuring that electronic cigarettes sold in the United States are lawfully marketed," the letter to the association read. FDA has determined that the electronic cigarette products addressed in the warning letters to the distributors, and similar products, are subject to FDA regulation as drugs. Under the FDCA, a company cannot claim that its drug can treat or mitigate a disease, such as nicotine addiction, unless the drug's safety and effectiveness have been proven. Yet all five companies claim without FDA review of relevant evidence that the products help users quit smoking cigarettes. The companies receiving warning letters today are: E-CigaretteDirect LLC, Ruyan America Inc., Gamucci America (Smokey Bayou Inc.), E-Cig Technology Inc. and Johnson's Creek Enterprises LLC. Certain companies received warning letters for additional reasons. For example, E-Cig Technology markets drugs in unapproved liquid forms, such as tadalafil, an erectile dysfunction drug, and rimonabant, a weight loss drug that has not been approved for use in the United States. These liquid pharmaceuticals are designed to refill cartridges used in e-cigarettes so that the drugs can be vaporized and inhaled. You can locate more information at http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm225224.htm. Thanks for the link I just sent my comment Comment: I just want to express my experience with the E-Cig. I'm 48 and had been smoking cigarettes since I was 12 years old. I had been trying to quit for the last 10 years without success.I tried the patches, gum,Ziban and still smoked 2 packs a day. It took 1 week on an e-cigarette to kick smoking for good. I have been using my e-cig now for 1 year and have my taste back. I have this summer started riding a bike and climb stairs without a second thought. I no longer cough every 5 minutes. I no longer have chest pain. My family is no longer in danger of second hand smoke. Please don't kill me and my family by taking my only working option away.

No worries Chris we all are passionate about about this subject. Yes it would be nice if the FDA would work with Chinese suppliers it would help put to rest a lot of worries and help make vaping as safe as it can be. It would weed out those that are just out for the profit. In addition I would like to see the FDA start doing case studies on the use of an e-cig to study long term effects good or bad. I would sign up in a heart beat. This is the company I was looking into to do testing my liquid http://www.alliancetechgroup.com/index.html and it is not for the average Jo's pocket book.
-
I didn't say this to scare off would be vapor users and I apologize if that is how I came off. E-cigs have (in my opinion) saved my life. I agree that testing is needed for anything we put into our bodies. My point is you don't know for sure unless it is tested.
-
With all due respect, I would take what I make any day over the stuff from China. What is the lead content of the water in China or Mercury to name a few heavy metals. I'm not recommending anyone to extract pure nicotine from tobacco. All e-liquid recipes are a home brew at some point when they start. I would not sell it or give out the process without having it tested by a lab and have it consistent. This is why I'm paying lawyers and working on having the testing done and it is not cheap.
-
It is not really hard to do and stumbled on it quite by accident. That is all I want to say because, I have been working on selling it, the lawyers I have been working with are not cheap. Now it looks like I will have to jump through more hoops.
-
Yes it will go up in price that is true, and yes, I can make Nic liquid with bulk tobaccos.
-
I think we all saw some regulation coming down the pipe.I think the statement above shows they (the FDA) are not trying to outlaw them permanently. Yes it is not news that is all good but, I think it shows that E-Cigs have a future. It shows the FDA is trying to set standards for safety. I for one have been making my own fluids now from products that I can get in my home town. I think the statement above is a call for those that want to supply the E cig market with high quality products to do so in time legally with FDA approval. I can assure you that even Nicotine patches and gum needed to be cleared through FDA regulations.

It's not that I agree or disagree so much I see this as a work in progress. The more we talk about it the more clear we can be when discussing it in letters we write and things we do to get this gray areas cleared. This is a very good topic to make and get talk flowing about these issues. -

Yes it is a catch 22. I think the regulations are going to come down to the fluid and what is contains. This is going to raise cost for the people making it. I would expect in time fluid will go up in price as the regulations are set up. I wish the FDA would get off it's high horse and work with those like AAPHP, Heath Insectors, Department of Agriculture (Regulates licensing for handling Nicotine), and others to come up with a workable solution. We were talking in our shop about doing fluid and standards that should be in place. We are taking our own steps to clarify these things now for our store. -

I think the strongest point that can be made is there are flavors out that have no nicotine and no tobacco flavoring at all in them. How can something be a tobacco product and not contain tobacco? This is where they should be separated from "Tobacco Products". The device it's self is not a pipe or any other smoking paraphernalia. It is a vaporizer. A device that vaporizes PG and "simulates" smoke. The fluid on the other hand could be a tobacco product if it indeed has nicotine extracted from tobacco and the same with the some flavors. But those alone do not cause cancer or any known ill effects to the surrounding public. Patches and gum have nicotine but they are not under fire because they do not emit vapor or smoke. They have nicotine and in the case of gum, flavor... so wouldn't they have to ban those in public places as well? They would be a "Tobacco Product" as well with the way they want to regulate PV's. -

I only see one problem with this, if I may without dodging bricks If they are labeled as "tobacco products" then they fall under the no smoking bans and are no longer allowed anywhere smoking is not. For example, MI just passed a law that bans all "Tobacco Products" from public places. This includes anywhere the public is gathered. Bars, Outdoor events, and 35 feet from any public place including the sidewalks. By the wording of this law it would include the e-cig if it were labeled a "tobacco product" would it not? -
