I did try some VG liquid quite a while back. At first I liked the vapor but I found it gummed up the atomizer too fast and that lead to lots of leaking. So I gave up. I have been considering giving a mix of PG/VG liquid a whirl. I just haven't decided how to go about it yet.

I really like the convenience of the cartomizers while at work and driving. They seem to have a pretty good life span. I pitch them when the flavor starts to get funky. Not really a believer in making them last beyond that. I still DD when at home.

Leaford - haven't heard that name in a long while. It will be interesting to see what he has been up to lately.

Def A Passthrough Or Another Starter Set
BirdDog replied to my2heartboys's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Going from a 510 to 801 will be a really different experience. The 801 will produce a much cooler vapor and you might experience better flavor. I have to agree with MiataFrank, I prefer the 801/302 much better at a higher voltage. -
There is only one small difference between the Janty and Joye Ego and that happens to be that Janty puts their logo on it. The Tornado from Totally Wicked is also the very same product with a branding name change. I don't know about the supplier you found that has it listed as the Happy Ego. It is best to ask the supplier if it is manufactured by Joye. To get started I would buy the Kit, a couple extra atomizers and a few bottles of liquid. A drip tip would be nice, because I am going to suggest that you direct drip. The vapor production and flavor will be much better than using the cartridges. I am also suggesting that you buy a package of cartomizers. These are quite simple to use and work well when you are in situations that dripping could be a problem. Like driving a car. I would put off buying the LR atomizers until you have given vaping a go. I would make that your second purchase. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I re-read what you wrote and I am thinking that the cart is dry. If you can, send it back and start with another kit. Or you could buy a couple bottles of liquid and give that try. Jolly did give you good info about the battery threads. This is important will all models.

Faa Issues Fire Warning For Lithium Batteries
BirdDog replied to Christopher's topic in General Vape News
I caught this article the other day. I thought it was quite interesting. So if they can't go by plane, then I guess that means more business for trucks, trains and boats. The downside would be longer shipping times. I had to ship back my satellite equipment this week. The instructions on the return package specifically said not to ship the batteries back with the remotes. I am sure they don't want to receive a bunch of used batteries they can't reuse. But I wouldn't be surprised if the other part was due to shipping restrictions on batteries. edit - had to look up the word "esoteric" - agree nice word. I agree no pets in cargo. -
Dayvape said it all, but I am going to list my post anyways. The automatic batteries are the ones that have been reported to go off with lots of noise. I don't recommend the auto battery. You will want a model with a manual battery (push button). The manual battery also has no cut off, the automatic batteries usually have a cut off. If you absolutely sure that you want what you listed above, I would suggest the 510 model with a PCC (personal charging case). I would also suggest a couple extra atomizers, juice and pick up some 510 cartomizers. The cartomizers are much better than using the plain old carts. Your best bet would be the Ego. The battery life is much better and you won't need a PCC. It should last you most the day. It also uses the 510 atomizer and you can use the 510 cartomizers with it also.

Hockey Season Is Coming Up!
BirdDog replied to bobthesalesclerk's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
At work they told us we could wear football jerseys, on the weekend, to support our favorite team. Okay, not a football fan, so I asked if I could wear my Red Wings sweater when hockey season started. That didn't go over very well. I do live in Avalanche country. -
Vaping Without Smoking First
BirdDog replied to BeachBum's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
In my first response I said it was a decision between you and your wife. I hope she sticks with the zero nic. No, I do not know anyone that has never smoked before and took up vaping. I do know people who were smokers, that quit, started smoking again and made the switch. (I guess that would be most of us at some point in time.) We walk a fine line here every time this subject comes up. With all the litigation and regulations coming our way, we are very protective and do not want add fuel to the fire. This is exactly one of those subjects. -
I have to say the 510 mega batteries or 520 batteries (I guess that is what it is called). After a few weeks of use I had to hit the button twice to stop it from burning up the atomizer. I spent a couple days burning my fingers until I got in the habit of tapping it twice. Now I find myself subconsciously doing it on occasion with my other units. I also have to say the Ego. Don't get me wrong, I really like it. But after opening the box, my first thought was "that's it?" Hard plastic button, and what appears to be plastic threading instead of metal. The cones also didn't screw on very easily. I don't know, maybe it was a knock off and I was mislead. But after a few days of using it, I really like it. But I still have lingering feelings of buyers remorse. edit - I forgot to add that after a few months, the charger fell apart. Now held together with rubber bands.

I Have This Carto Completely Brand New, Taste Burnt And Crappy?
BirdDog replied to asmcriminal's topic in New Vapers Forum
I'm with Dayvape on this one, confused. Is it a cartomizer or a regular atomizer that you are using the old standard cartridge with? -
There is a gold one? Thanks for the tip, I never noticed that there were different types. I have only ordered them from 2 suppliers and they only had the ones with silver. Thanks.

Vaping Without Smoking First
BirdDog replied to BeachBum's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
I will not encourage a non-smoker to try vaping. I just don't think it is a good idea, especially if they have never had the addiction to cigarettes. If it is stress she wants to tackle, I think she should find something else to calm it. I do see the attraction she might have with you picking up this new hobby and becoming very interested in it herself. This is a decision you should make with your wife. But please try and keep her to stay with the zero nic. -
I have to agree with Chris on this one. I use them until the flavor goes bad or it just gives out. I did try and boil one once, it really didn't make much of a difference, I ended up tossing it anyways. I find this very interesting that some of the members are extending the lives of the cartomizer and the little tricks that you come up with. Never really thought about a paper clip and air flow, will have to check this little trick out. Thanks.

Best Atomizer To Use With 6 Volt Devices
BirdDog replied to bobthesalesclerk's topic in General Vaping Discussion
At higher voltage I have used the 801 (oldie but goodie), 302, 901, 510 and 510 cartomizer. I really like the flavor from the 801, 302 and 901. I find that I drip more with these atomizers which leads to leaking. My favorite is the 510 cartomizer and seems to be my go to choice. It really is a personal choice, I would agree with the person that suggested getting an adapter and just giving a different atomizer a try. Even if it is just for fun. -

A brilliant accessory to vaping. Not sure if I would ever use one but I really like it. Thanks for posting. -
How Often Do You Fill Your Cartomizer?
BirdDog replied to Christopher's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I never really kept track of how much I refill my cartomizers. I really don't keep track of how much liquid I go through. Someone asked me today what kind of gas mileage I got from my car, I never paid attention to that too. Guess I better get on the ball and start watching what I use. I do have to agree with the 4-6 drops, I do add about that much when I feel it is getting dry. -
This isn't directed at you, but anyone that makes that statement. That statement has bothered me for the longest time and what I am about to say is probably going to make me sound like I am on the side of the FDA. I am not on the side of the FDA or any other person out there that thinks we need extreme testing on the ecig. We can't go about spouting off that ecigs have not killed anyone. They have only been available to the masses for the last few years and the numbers of users is growing fast. Sure we all have had better health since we started, but is this only short term or will something come along in 5 years? It is kind of hard to prove because most ex-smokers will have some health complications from smoking, even if they quit 20 years ago. We really don't know if anyone has died from ecigs, like overdosing on nicotine, or continuing the effects of emphysema and COPD at a slower rate. Not every ecig user belongs to a public forum. I guess what I am getting at is we need to stop making the claim that ecigs are not killing anyone. To me this statement runs hand in hand with the statement it is a quit smoking cessation product. Just my 2 cents.

I would take a walk on the wild side and try a different atomizer. The most popular atomizer is the 510. The 510 produces really good vapor with a good throat hit. The cheapest way for you to try the 510 atomizer would be to get a 901 to 510 battery adapter. It looks like Word Up carries them. If it is a kit you are looking for the 510 setup is small and will fit in a pocket. The kits usually has 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, charger, carts and is reasonable in price. The only downside to the 510 is the battery life is a bit short. I don't own a 901 battery, so I can not comment on the battery life between the two. If you go the adapter route, you might also want to pick up some 510 cartomizers. They are a really easy to use and very convenient. Much nicer to use than the cartridges that come with atomizers. What I would really recommend is the Ego. The battery life is outstanding and it uses the 510 atomizer. The Ego is much smaller than what it might appear in pictures. Before I bought one, I thought it was going to be some chunky piece of hardware. I was amazed at how small it was. It fits in the palm of your hand and will fit nicely in a pocket. I hope this helps.

Despite Ad Claims, You Can't Smoke E-Cigs On Planes
BirdDog replied to Christopher's topic in General Vape News
Thanks for posting the article. My thoughts and feelings are all jumbled right now and I just can't get it all down in words. -
Your teeth can become stained from a variety of things such as wine, coffee, tea, soda (pop) and some fruits and vegetables. There are dyes in all kinds of process froods that can also stain teeth. I have read on another forum that people have noticed a film building up on car windows from vaping. But when cleaned it did not produce the same icky black/brown film like cigarettes. I would guess that it is left over staining from the cigarettes or food that your friend has been eating.

That was shocking. Surprised it didn't kill her. I did laugh a little.
