It sounds like the atomizer is dry. The carts will dry out fast and it will make a burnt flavor because the atomizer is dry. You really have to keep the cart wet. Also sometimes the filler will start to melt or burn. Same goes with the cart if not lined up properly with the bridge (pointy piece in atomizer with wire mesh on it.) Try removing the filler from the cartridge and set it aside, just in case you still want to use it later. Add 2-3 drops of liquid directly on the atomizer and take a draw. Is that any better? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h14QDp4v3O4&feature=player_embedded Darn you Jeff!!!

PG is one of the main reasons for throat hit next to the nic level. I have not ordered from Vapor Renu so I am not familiar with the mixes. Some suppliers will mix something into the liquid to add a greater throat hit. Not really sure what that ingredient is, I want to say it is some type of pepper flavoring but I really don't know. I am going to suggest that if you are not happy with th from VR that you try other suppliers or order your liquid in pg only from them if VR offers that option.

I personally do not have a Provari at the moment but I did get to see and hold one. I liked the original finish. I am really liking the look of the black one.
-
I don't know how their chrome finish will be, but I did have a stainless or chrome version of 801 battery one time and it drove me nuts. It was slippery and had finger prints on it all the time.

First of all what flavors are you vaping and is it PG or VG based? I am not familiar with the smoke 51 so I don't know what kind of atomizer it has. The 510 that comes with the Ego produces a much warmer vape and will also add some kick to throat hit. Try using liquids that are VG based. I would avoid using anything with menthol or a spicy/cinnamon flavor to it. Stick with standard resistance atomizers and cartomizers. The mg amount in liquid does affect throat hit and 6mg is pretty low. If this doesn't work for you you may want to try using the 801/302 penstyle or a 901 atomizers. These atomizers produce a cooler vape and might help you with less throat hit. You can use these on your ego but will need a battery to atomizer adapter.

Moved to the General E-smoking area because it is not a noobie question. (Contains DIY and mod info)

Yes the fiber/wick belongs in the atomizer. It is used to help wick liquid to the coil when using a cartridge. You can de-wick the atomizer, which I see you have learned. It works well if you are going to use the atomizer for dripping only. Be patient when de-wicking your atomizers. You can damage the coil or pull the whole thing out cutting off the wires that heat the coil.

If you are getting vapor then it is still working. If you have been vaping all day then you could just be hitting that no flavor stage for the day. As I vape throughout the day the flavor will start to drop off and I find myself searching for a stronger flavor later in the evening. If you have been mixing flavors in your atomizer that can also kill flavor sometimes.

And I don't know what scares me most, the rath of the VIP or my dog.

They also made my dog take an oath on her favorite chew toy not to reveal the secrets. So we are both bound to secrecy.

Pg is supposed to give you good throat hit and good flavor. VG has been know to clog up a few atomizers but produces a much better vapor cloud. I have been trying out some 50/50 mixes and have been really pleased. It sounds like the Cool Rush (based on cool) probably has a menthol or mint base to it, that will give you throat hit.

I had to swear an oath on my ecig that I would not reveal what happens in the VIP room. That is all the info I can tell you. You do need 500 posts to enter and you are almost half way there.

I pitch them when they start to taste bad, burnt or just quit working. I may blow out my atomizers but I don't even bother with the cartomizers. The cartomizers are so cheap it is easier to just toss them. I also remember a post about turning something on them, but I don't think it has to do with cleaning. It might have to do something with getting a DOA carto working. I have no clue where that post would be. Sorry. Glad you got one working.

I tried to simplify my life a little and I buy only black standard atomizers/cartomizers and buy the LR's in a different color or finish. This also helps me from putting a LR on any of my high voltage pv's.

I have to agree with Jeff. I have been vaping well over a year and boiling atomizers or cartomizers never works for me. Finally, I gave in to the fact that it is easier to have back ups and just start with a new one.

I don't know if that is normal. More suppliers are starting to list the ingredients they are using. I don't DIY so I don't know why someone would add it. I have a feeling it is used to thin the VG. Hopefully one of our DIY'ers will stop by and answer that question.

I placed a sample order from them around the holidays. Not for DIY. I was pleased with the flavors I received but there was a small error with my order. One flavor I ordered was missing and I got a double sample of another flavor from my order. Small mix up, not a problem. It was a special sale and they got overwhelmed. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I will probably give them a go again in the future. I am also going to move this to the DIY area because the post is in reference to DIY.

Using or not using the cone is a personal preference. No it will not damage your cartomizer or atomizer if you decide not to use the cone.
-
Most tobacco flavors really don't mimic actual cigarette flavors. One thing about the auto batteries is to be careful not to put them in your pocket or bag with the atomizer attached. They can set themselves off and you might just burn out your atomizer or burn a hole in your pocket. I am glad that you are liking what you ordered.

I don't have a DDD it is usually just the dog and I in the car. She is pretty smart and if she had thumbs I bet she would do the dripping for me. On second thought, if she had thumbs I would be the passenger and she would be driving. I use cartomizers when out and about.

Older home smoke detectors will not pick up the particulates. Newer detectors will, especially if they are used for commercial purposes. They are set up to sense particulates. The last job I had the alarms would go off when the food departments would hose down the floors with hot water.

I would say your liquid is bad. I wouldn't even want to test it out by the description you gave.
