FDA Deeming Regulation - What we know so far
BirdDog replied to Christopher's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I don't think they will be able to stifle the online conversations and sharing of information from forums, youtube and live broadcasts, even if the word ecig or vaping is included. I did hear that websites with juice calculators and coil building calculators might have to come down, but the apps or software won't be affected. This confused me. The only thing I could think of was some of those sites ask for donations and apps can be for free. I think as long as there is no exchange of money they can't do anything about it. When it comes to the internet, you can find all kinds of discussions going on about any topic. Some of those topics are against federal law. -
Congratulations Tam!

DIY will not be affected. You can still buy flavorings, PG, VG and other materials . The only item that might be difficult to get will be Nicotine. But that is still 2 years out. Flavorings will be sold as baking or candy making supplies and can't be listed for use in making eliquid. Supplies for coil building will also still be available. Most of those materials are used for other purposes, they just won't be marketed for vaping. Some suppliers are planning on selling 0nic flavors only. Then it would be up to the end user to add the nicotine. They will not be able to offer advice on adding nic and you may have to agree when purchasing that you will not alter the product in anyway. We, as a group, are pretty inventive. The minds are already turning on how to continue on. -

@Compenstine See the quote below of what will happen in 90 days. You still have 2 years before you need to file and pay. Who is to say what will happen in 2 years. I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet. The date the FDA choose was Feb 2007. Which we all know are the dreaded closed battery system. This is the whole point of HR 2058 and Cole-Bishop Amendment. This will give congress the ability to change that date. Hopefully something for the better. They are going to try and shoot for it to be changed to the year 2016. -

Interesting that Nicopure has gone ahead and filed a lawsuit. I do know that SFATA suggested vendors not file any lawsuits. They felt it was not the appropriate time and will be costly for suppliers to take on. More power to Nicopure if they feel they can take on this endeavor. I was wondering if Johnson Creek Vapor might do something like this. They have been around as long or longer than Nicopure. But then I remembered that they have/had some deal with one of the big companies. I don't remember which, but I remember it being linked to big tobacco. -

I have heard various numbers for the application cost, it seems to have everyone perplexed at the moment. If you are a supplier, please join SFATA. http://sfata.org/ All consumers should either join or keep an eye on Casaa. http://www.casaa.org/ Both these groups will keep you informed and tell you when, where and how to act to save the vaping industry. Right now the two most important things we can do is write or call our reps to support the Cole-Bishop Amendment and HR 2058. Both of these provisions are set up to change the February 2007 grandfathered date the FDA has set. The cigar industry is also included in the FDA deeming regulations. They are pretty pissed. Check out Youtube for their reactions. -
Yes. If you spill eliquid on your hands, wash them right away.

I have the drip box. It does work on other devices. Well, at least I tried it for awhile. I didn't notice any leaking. You could try the Twisted Messes. That was recommended to me. The Dot Com is also popular right now and seems to be receiving good reviews. -
FDA REGULATIONS! VERY IMPORTANT!
BirdDog replied to BirdDog's topic in Vaping Legislation & Regulation News
The HR 2058 bill is sitting in the house and not moving fast, but it not dead. So please urge your representatives to support it. Here is another link to the status of the Cole-Bishop Amendment. There is a section stuck in there regarding the FDA and Tobacco products. I think it is a smaller version of the HR 2058 bill. This one is moving now through the houses. Please contact your reps to support this. https://www.khlaw.com/9094 -

http://www.casaa.org/ Petitions are okay, but most end up going no where. Please see the link above and support the HR 2058 bill. This is all we have right now. -
FDA REGULATIONS! VERY IMPORTANT!
BirdDog replied to BirdDog's topic in Vaping Legislation & Regulation News
I have been listening and reading all kinds of information about the FDA Deeming Regulations. We have known since the beginning that regulation was going to happen, we just didn't know when. T he FDA regulation was set up to protect the consumer, not to harm you. The rules are meant for the suppliers and manufactures. The first thing I am going to tell you is NOT TO PANIC! The vaping world is not ending in 90 days. But I do suggest that you start planning on how you are going to handle what will be happening in the next 3 years. Some of the changes you will see in 90 days will be no free samples, contests or giveaways. Shops will not be able to have juice bars or be able to make coils for customers. Eliquid labeling will be changing and no new products will be released. Basically, the industry is going to become stagnant. What you see now is what we will have. You will see some vendors and shops close. It is your duty as a consumer to support your suppliers that are heavily involved in advocacy. Writing or calling your Senators or Representatives will do nothing right now. Feel free to contact them if you must, I don't thing it will hurt. You need to keep an eye on CASAA and SFATA. They will tell you when, how and where to act. These groups are pouring through the information and deciding on what action we need to take. -
FDA REGULATIONS! VERY IMPORTANT!

I started reading up on DIY and making coils. I have the supplies to experiment with DIY but haven't made anything yet. The farthest I have gone was to add nic to those 0 nic samples that suppliers send out. My next step is to learn how to mix flavoring and then move on from there. I bought one of those Kanger squonk boxes, nice little unit. I have all the tools for building, just need to get wire and cotton. I have been practicing with the squonk box, changing out the cotton. Good so far. Will see how this works. I promise to ask questions before blowing my self up. lol @Earthling789 thanks for the extra information and confirmation! You are awesome! -
FDA REGULATIONS! VERY IMPORTANT!

I was listening in on a streaming show earlier today, recommendation for long term storage of nicotine was to break it down into 24mg or lower, store in dark glass bottles and use the fridge or freezer. The temp has to be below 40 degrees. Just thought I would toss that out there. This was from a juice maker, 100mg will break down faster and he also suggested that the nicotine be in PG not VG. VG will go bad faster. Hope this helps some. Not sure how true this is. -

There is so much information to read through. Ugh! What I can tell you is to support HR 2058! http://cqrcengage.com/casaa/app/write-a-letter?0&engagementId=101154 -
I just woke up and were sent these links. The FDA did an announcement today. I haven't read any of it, but thought it was important enough to post the links for everyone to read. It appears to be a lot of information. http://blog.casaa.org/2016/05/fda-deeming-regulations-release-and.html https://vaping.com/deeming-live-blog/

Congratulations on hitting the 3 year mark! -
I agree with Squid. Nickel coils are only good in temp mode. Stainless Steel (SS) can be use in either temp or wattage mode. This might help you. http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp

What's your favorite Online Vape Shop?
BirdDog replied to biggbase's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I second your choice. Fast shipping and they also list videos explaining the products. Use vaporjoe13 for 13% off your order. 101Vape and Myvapestore are also good and reliable suppliers. -

Cannot believe this! No more E-Cigs on planes AT ALL!
BirdDog replied to bcartervol98's topic in General Vaping Discussion
From what I have heard, this part of that very long bill did not pass. Here is a link to an update about lithium ion batteries http://sfata.org/member-update-regarding-u-s-senate-potential-ban-vapor-products-commercial-flights/ -
Not a problem. Just get back up, dust yourself off and give it a go again. I have been doing this for about 7 years now. During that time, I have had a regular cigarette every now and then. Hell, I even bought a few packs. It isn't a bad thing, it just happens and you wake up the next day to realize it was not a good idea. JUST DON'T DO IT AGAIN!
