Kanger Subtank mini vs Aspire Triton
starrelabelletxlady reacted to Tam for a topic
Here are just a few lines of opinion from my experience with the Kanger Subtank mini and the Aspire Triton. I've been trying new tanks in hopes that I can find something that will replace my beloved but too damned expensive HH.357s. Both tanks were used on an Eleaf iStick 50W. The juice was my ADV EC Blends Feels Like a Nut, 3 mg nic, 40 PG/60 VG, extra sweetener. From day one, I've only had about five minutes of joy from the Kanger subtank mini with a 1.5 ohm factory coil. No matter what I tried I couldn't get the airflow right, the vapor was still too hot for my preferences. The draw didn't agree with me when the flavor tasted right and I'd cough out a lung when the draw was right but the flavor wasn't there. There was also juice leaking from the air holes in the bottom no matter what I did. Went through several coils trying to see if I got a bad one or three... Tried all kinds of different configurations on the airflow and... I just didn't like it and couldn't get it to perform even after over a week of trying. Constantly. Got the Aspire Triton in today. Washed it out well, let it air dry through dinner. Put in the 1.8 ohm coil, set the airflow about half way, put juice in it -- I really like the top fill option (it's so handy!), let sit for a couple of minutes, set my iStick at 12.4 watts and... even with the stock humongous drip tip, the flavor I've been looking for that matched the HH.357 is there. The vapor is huge, and... it's what I've been searching for. I'm amazed it worked so well right out of the box with minimum fiddling. After the Subtank, I was expecting to have to dial it in and play with it before finding a setting I could live with but no, it's amazing! I have the upper airflow control wide open, the lower at half way. Even with my slim stainless steel 3" drip tip (I prefer cooler vapor), it still works great and doesn't make me cough. The vapor is smoooooth, not harsh. I think I've found a keeper. Granted, I've only been vaping on this for the past 15 minutes or so but color me impressed! Oh, and I've been chain vaping and haven't gotten a dry hit yet. This thing is a juice hog but I'm okay with that. For vapers like me who do mouth to lung, this is the perfect tank so far.1 point -

Where Do People Go?

Bebop I agree sub ohm and cloud chasing are completely different and do not mean to lump them together. Its not the act of sub ohming or even cloud chasing that is dangerous to our perception it is the place and time people choose to do it. Take that complete idiot Cesar. He felt he had the "right" to vape wherever he wanted with no regard to what others thought. It is inevitable he will end up with a cloud chasing rig at some point and have no regard for others around him. That is what I am talking about not the guy on his back deck blowing clouds lol. There are lots of things I can condone doing in my home, car, boat etc... that I would not deem acceptable in a social environment.1 point -
Does anyone use caffeine based e-liquids?
Compenstine reacted to Tam for a topic
We've had this conversation before, and I believe most of us decided that we like our caffeine in a liquid form since we don't know what the effects vaping it would have. The long term effects of vaping is still unknown so why add something else that could possibly have negative health consequences?1 point -

Five Pawns - Grandmaster - Outstanding

6mg Nic https://fivepawns.com/shop/grandmaster/ WOW! What a total treat - creamy peanut butter, banana cream and caramel - so buttery smooth - Absolutley worth $27.50 for 30 ml. Very pleasurable vape, easily could be an ADV. I'm vaping it on a Aspire Nautilus using the iTaste 134 mini. It is amazing to see how fast my sense of taste is changing since I got-off tobacco. I've already lowered my nic from 12 to 6 in just 18 days. -CouldMaker1 point -
Definitely a "yay". Im looking forward to a different perspective. Gonna be great1 point

Stepping down in nic levels
Earthling789 reacted to BirdDog for a topic
Okay I think I get it. When comparing it to the old cig a-likes it makes sense. I know those didn't produce squat. One of the reasons why we all started stacking batteries in the first tube mods. So an EVOD glass tank with a dual coil is considered a beginner device now? If this involves math, I am out. Thank you for your replies! I promise not to try sub-ohm.1 point -

As was stated, summer is a factor. I think B may be on to something though. I think there will be a new surge in the fall as people get back to their computers and spend less time outside enjoying the nice weather.1 point -

Tam, have you tried to lube up the area with a little bit of juice? When I got my subtank, the airflow control was really tight/gritty and the tank fit on the bottom threads was also like that. It wasn't till I over-primed a coil and had juice ooze out of the air holes that the problem cleared up lol. I ended up firing my mod and blowing into in instead of inhaling. That got all of the excess juice out of the airway. Wiped it off, and now it's smooth as butter.1 point -

Kanger Subox Kit
starrelabelletxlady reacted to Tug for a topic
Yeah my tanks threads were a little dirty too.Thats pretty common with these unfortunately.I was really impressed with the new RBA base, but I haven't used it yet.The juice holes are so big that I think it would be best with a max VG,the thinner juices would probably flood it.1 point -
Kanger Subox Kit
starrelabelletxlady reacted to Squid for a topic
TugBoat, not trying to hijack your thread, but I figured there was no use in having 2 threads for the same topic. Got mine this morning, UPS said weather delays..... Opened up the box, and disassembled the tank as soon as it arrived. Noticed that the airflow base did not want to unscrew easily from the tank. Wiped the treads with a clean cloth and got a lot of black gunk. Proceeded to clean the threads with a qtip and alcohol, followed by a warm water rinse once the qtip was clean after a swab of the treads. Dried it with the wife's hair dryer, didn't want to wait for air dry. No big deal really, just needed to be cleaned. Swapped out the installed .5ohm coil for the 1.5 ohm, and tried to reassemble. No go, the threads wouldn't engage properly, swapped back to the .5 coil, same issue. Pulled the coil out and the tank threaded together fine. After messing with it for 10-15 min, I found that if I backed the coil out about 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn from tight it would screw together no problem. I am guessing that either the chimney or the airflow base isn't machined quite straight. No big deal as long as the juice doesn't leak past the o-ring under the coil, but not the highest quality control I have seen. Loaded the tank up with a 70VG/30PG juice, and let it sit for about 30 min as I forgot to wet the wick before filling. After an hour and a half or so driving around running my Saturday morning errands vaping this set up, I have to say I am quite impressed with the flavor and vapor production. It has better flavor than the Nautilus mini (different juice I admit, but the Nautilus doesn't seem to like the 70/30.) and has a thicker cloud. The flavor is just as good as with the Starre tank, but with a whole lot less cloud, running the same juice. Not really surprising going from .5 ohm at 35-40 watts to 1.5 ohm at 15 watts. After running up and down the scale from 10 to 25 watts and changing the airflow setting around quite a few times, I have settled on 15watts on the middle air flow. Higher watts on the big hole for airflow does make bigger clouds without tasting burnt, but I got this to try and find a happy middle with the cloud production between the Nautilus mini and my Starre subohm tank. This hit the nail on the head for that. I have not tried the RTA setup, and probably won't for some time unless someone comes and splits all my firewood for me. Overall after a couple hours of use, I'd give the subtank mini a 3.5 out of 5 stars due to the wonky fitment of the tank parts. And the subbox mini 4.75 out of 5, because the battery door is longer than the box itself (only .020"-.030") and I caught the longer edge on my pocket and knocked the cover off, and the ohm reading isn't spot on with the coil installed, showing 1.6 for the 1.5. Granted I have yet to personally see any box read perfect. Other than that the box works as advertised.1 point -
Dead Presidents E-Liquid
starrelabelletxlady reacted to Adversarious1 for a topic
I received this product at no charge from the manufacturer because I joined their “secret society” and for the purpose of conducting a review. That being said…I would gladly buy some of these e-liquids again. I will admit, I have been eagerly anticipating the release of this particular line for quite a while. This particular line of Dead Presidents (there is at least one other line I know of that goes by “Dead Presidentz”) is manufactured in Southern California and is distributed by Paradise Vape. The line currently has four flavors: Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt and Kennedy. Each flavor is an 80/20 VG/PG blend and each flavor is currently available in three nicotine levels: 6mg, 3mg and 0mg. I was notified when the items were shipped so I had time to prepare for their arrival because I knew a review would be in the works. The liquids were sent to me in 3mg, as that is my preferred dripping strength. I put fresh dual coil builds at .25 ohms and fresh cotton in two different RDA’s (mutation X v3 and v4) with a re-wicking after each of the first two flavors. The v3 was on my Infected Mod while the v4 was on my Arthas as these are both solid copper mods with very similar performance characteristics. This was simply to ensure my taste buds were not affected by residual liquid in the cotton from either of the first two liquids and that I got similar performance from the mech mods I was using. I decided to vape each one in the same order I listed them above and the reviews of each are listed in that order. Without further ado…. If you are a fan of dessert liquids, then this whole line might be a line you will enjoy. Each of their flavors (described below) is a different type of dessert that may appeal to different palates or they could appeal to a single palate. To me, they were all enjoyable, even though some weren’t typically what I would go for if I were sitting in a B&M trying different flavors. Washington – Peaches and Cream – This was the first of the four different flavors I tried. Most of my decision on the order in which to try each liquid had to do specifically with the order each man served as POTUS. But I can assure you, I was not disappointed in the least that “peaches & cream” was the first flavor that would be dancing across my tongue in this particular instance. Washington is a very pleasant “peaches & cream flavor”. On my palate, the peaches take precedent on the inhale while the exhale consists mostly of a very pleasant creamy experience. My personal rating on this flavor on a scale of 1 stars to 5 stars is 4.5 stars It’s yummy. There’s simply no other way to describe it that would do it justice. Vaping this liquid makes me wish I was sitting on a Georgia plantation eating fresh peaches & cream while drinking any mixed drink made with Southern Comfort. Lincoln – Butterscotch – This was the second flavor I vaped. Again, my order of vaping was almost purely based on the order each man served as POTUS rather than what I thought would be the most pleasant to the least or vice versa. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a huge fan of butterscotch. I personally don’t like butterscotch even when it comes to ice cream sundaes. I just don’t like it. Give me chocolate, peanut butter and/or caramel. This liquid might have changed my mind. I’ve tried other butterscotch based flavors just to see if those flavors would appeal to my personal taste buds. Honestly, even when vaping I have never been a fan of butterscotch. This butterscotch flavor is a game changer. It wasn’t overbearing. It was a consistent flavor from initial inhale until full exhale. Part of that may be due to the 80/20 VG/PG blend and the fact VG isn’t a flavor carrier or it may be due to a very careful formulation of this particular flavor. Would I buy it? Probably not. Butterscotch simply isn’t my thing. But it is a very nice vape and if you like butterscotch I would highly recommend it. My personal rating on this flavor would be a 4 stars out of 5. That rating is purely based on the fact that butterscotch simply isn’t my cup of tea. Roosevelt – Lemon Meringue Pie – I am a lemon fan. I am a HUGE lemon fan. My normal ADV is a lemonade/menthol liquid that is made locally in San Diego by a local shop. I love citrus and I love tart berries. I had high expectations of this flavor and it certainly didn’t let me down. If you are a fan of lemon meringue then this won’t disappoint. This vape consists of a mild lemon inhale. Slightly tart, slightly sweet. Just the way a lemon custard in lemon meringue pie should be. The exhale is a perfectly balanced meringue. A bit sweeter than the lemon inhale, but that should be expected. Delicious. Simply delicious. Try it. My rating on this flavor is 5 stars out of 5. I love lemon, though. My “go-to” drink is just about anything with bourbon and lemon pairs very well with bourbon. I love this particular flavor. Kennedy – Churro and Ice Cream – Do you remember those churros you used to get at amusement parks as a kid? Or perhaps those churros you still get at an amusement park as an adult? Well guess what…now you can get that in a vape. I think I was about 12 years old the first time I ever had a churro at an amusement park. Churros…those cinnamon flavored pastries found at vendor carts around places like Disneyland. Sugar and cinnamon…what kid wouldn’t like that? Top that off with a little more than a hint of vanilla ice cream and you have a hit. This vape is delicious. The cinnamon takes the lead in this particular vape, but it isn’t a hot cinnamon like cinnamon candies. This is like the cinnamon you would expect when you make cinnamon toast or when you get, well…a churro at your local amusement park. Sweet yet spicy. I may have found a new dessert vape. This would pair well with a dessert coffee or…bourbon. Imagine that. (Of course, I can find an excuse to vape anything with bourbon.) This one gets a 5 stars out of 5 from me. As a side note, I’m actually surprised the company didn’t go with something cherry related for Washington. Who doesn’t remember the story of young George Washington chopping down a cherry tree? If they do want to follow that logic, I could easily see them introducing additional flavors. Perhaps a Peanut Butter flavor for Carter and/or a Jelly Bean flavor for Reagan. There is only one thing I honestly don’t like about any of these liquids…they are all green. I don’t mean simply tinted green…they are green. Like Crayola Crayon green. It might look really cool in a tank and quite frankly I haven’t tried any of the liquids in any tanks, only in RDA’s. What makes them green? Is it simply a food coloring or is it something else? I want to know what I’m inhaling so adding that to the ingredients would be nice. The labeling does a fine job of letting people know the product designed as a “smoking cessation device”, which is appreciated in light of the current situation with vaping in general. They are also very careful to let us know the PG/VG is organic. But tell us what else is in it. Admittedly that is the advocate in me coming out, but I’m sure there are non-advocates out there who would like to know what they are inhaling as well. If you’re a cloud chaser then the 80/20 VG/PG blend should appeal to you. I’m not a cloud chaser, although I enjoy the clouds. These liquids all produced very nice clouds for me. To give you an idea, I was taking 1 to 3 second drags with each of these liquids. I was in my “mancave” (aka garage) and the ambient temperature was close to 100 degrees with minimal humidity. I was still producing clouds thick enough to block my computer screen and TV screen. All in all, all four of these flavors were a very nice vape all the way around.1 point -
