Let's Talk Temp Control
Bebop and one other reacted to DragonGunner for a topic
Made my first ni200 vertical coil for my subtank mini. 7 spaced wraps with 29ga ni200 on a 3mm coil jig bit came out to .11 ohms. Wicking it was obviously a tad more tricky and I can improve but this is a pretty good build for my first attempt. Happy vaping days ahead. I had really steady hands and a good eye today. Wish all days were like this.2 points -
What mg of nic are you using? Maybe bump it up for a little while to get you over the hard part?2 points

Tough time usually come with tough temptations. No need to beat yourself up over it. I haven't tried muffin man, but will be looking forward to reading what you think about it.2 points -
Just got a bottle of PBFB from Fadora vapor last evening. Loaded up a tank this morning, and I've been chain vaping ever since. This stuff is great! Goes especially well with a kona blend coffee.2 points

Don't worry brother. Just put it down for the day. That's why we have prepared built coils. I have many days like that myself. I just got lucky and had a good one myself. Next time I'm sure I won't be so lucky. Oh and I misquoted on my new coil. Its .13ohms not 1.3 ohms. Sorry.1 point -
It is a great feature. I wish they all did it. The new DNA200 is even a level above updatability. DNA200 data sheet (PDF) It allows full customization. I have only had one that could be updated (ipv3). I really want the ipv mini D2, it can not be updated. YiHi only makes certain boards that can be updated.1 point

Hi all. I lied. I found myself bored and decided to rip out the 1.1 ohm coil i just made and start with a new vertical coil (practice makes perfect right), plus I wanted to up the ohms a tad. Again 29ga. This time an eight wrap on a 3mm bit for 1.3 ohms. Here's a couple of pics of the build. Enjoy and attempt at your own frustration....just joking. Have fun with it. It's not that hard. Note: Sorry for the order of the pics. I tried editing to get it right and then it gave me a double pic post and I almost screwed it up even more. The system is wonky.1 point -
Fasttech has them for a little over $5 each. 101Vape is offline till later on today for site maintenance. I think so. They've replaced my Davide minis if that tells you anything. KPT3 minis are so much easier to fill too.1 point

Duke, There really isn't a clear cut answer for your questions. Your juice and vape style dictates the maximum temperature you can run. Some juices like a bit more heat, others taste better cool, of course it all really comes down to personal preference. The amount of air you draw in also will change the settings a bit. An open airy vape will be be cooler so your coil temp may have to be a bit higher to get the proper heat you are used to. The amount of air passing the coil, and how well it wicks will also change the temp. As for PG/VG, I really don't know.... I run the same temp on my 80vg/20pg as I do my 50/50. It is the same flavor though. On 2 of my temp mods it takes quite a bit of tinkering. I set my watts pretty high and my temp pretty low and slowly raise the temp until it gets pretty close. If your mod is constantly going into temp control, start backing off of the watts until it is not hitting the temp control every once and a while. This will insure that when you do a poor wicking or a dry tank, you will not get a nasty dry hit. Just mess with it a while and as you have questions, come back and ask. There are a few of us that have been messing with this stuff and would be happy to help. Since this technology has not been out too long, we are all newbies, of sorts. I am really of the opinion that it is worth the little extra work in the beginning, to get a super consistent vape.1 point

Why did no one tell me about the KPT 3 mini? It's an amazing little tank. To tell the truth, I picked up the first one because I liked the drip tip. Once I tried it, I got four (or was it five?) more due to the performance. The 1.8 ohm single coil is what I prefer in the tank. They're inexpensive and pretty much plug and play (or should I say fill and vape?). No frills, no high maintenance.1 point

I know you like the temperature control and the fancy things, but have you tried just a simple variable voltage eGo or Vision Spinner and a KPT mini with 24 mg nic for work? They're light, fit into pockets and is easily portable. Leave the fancy stuff for home and use something functional at work. Might be worth a try if you want off the cigs.1 point

Thanks for all of the advice guys! The run went great. I finished pretty quickly, and with plenty of gas in the tank. Cesar, thank you for the pre race diet advice! I'm running a much more competitive course next month, with a pretty large cash prize, so this is exactly the info I need to be at the top of my game.1 point
