I think the original 20 Istick and tank I had must have really malfunctioned and spilt lots of burning liquid into my mouth. Not good kids. Almost put me off vaping for good. Thanks for all the help and advice guys3 points

I've been playing with e-cigarettes off an on for a couple of years. I've been smoking for 20 years. I've managed to quit a couple of times only to go right back to it. Started with the cig-a-likes, which only marginally worked for a couple of weeks, then back to smoking. Then I had an evod I would puff on a bit here and there. Took the plunge due to a sale at my vape shop and just got an istick. I think this was the trick, I haven't even wanted to smoke in 2 days and my juice keeps tasting better. Fingers crossed! Trying to convince the hubby to make the switch too! Well, that's my story, brief though it is. Nice to meet you! :)2 points

Bump when you get something in vape mail.
jasonculp and one other reacted to Earthling789 for a topic
Personal use primarily. I do mix for a couple of friends and co-workers, and I charge them a little... under local B&M rates... to offset my costs of supplies (actually, they usually buy enough to completely cover my costs, over time). I've thought about my own lines, because my friends say what I mix for them is better than what they get at the shops. I think they are just being kind, but they keep asking for more, so maybe they do like it? I think it would just be too much trouble to go into huge productions, because it would become a "job", and not a "hobby", not to mention finding the venue to sell it? To me, mixing juices is "fun", and gives me a chance to use my Chemistry degree, but making my own line of flavors might take the fun out of it?2 points -

Shark Week
kitsune reacted to Earthling789 for a topic
I forgot it was shark week, but plan to watch a few here and there. I am a hunter, and eat what I catch/kill... after Katrina hit the gulf-coast, I was in MS helping bring supplies to family that lived 30-miles from GulfPort. While there, I heard they were begging archers and spear-fishers to take out the Bull Sharks that were deep into the fresh-water in MS and LA. I took two males with archery gear I kept a few teeth for necklaces and decoration, shipped some meat home, we had a fantastic family cook-out, and gave the bulk of the meat to the food-bank to help with disaster relief. I'm with Tam... I prefer my sharks on TV or on a plate... even being in the safety of a big air-boat (with spears, arrows, and a rifle) with Bulls (many over 10') swimming around... I was terrified because they were HUNGRY! I've swam (scuba) with dozens of species in the Atlantic off the coast of FL, but none so deadly as Bulls, Tigers, Hammerheads, or Great Whites!1 point -

Well, here's my first guess as to what is going on.... According to the calculator, 9 wraps should give you (.13) resistance. But you can see that if the coils is wider tthan the posts, tbe wire bends back in and touches itself and probabaly loses a wrap or two of resistance. In any case its messing with the resistance and possibly messing with Your electronics. Try to bend the wire out and then back in to the post if you can. Otherwise you can do more wraps and take the loss in resistance. Also, i wrap the coil as tight as possible then spring it out a little from each end. Then compress it and you'll end up with a tighter coil but not touching. It takes a little playibg around but you get better at it. Wick your coil so it just touches the deck and dont block the juice channels. After you assemble the sleeve, use a needleor something to gently move the wick away from the juice channels without mashing your wick. Prime it up good than put yourcoil cap on and then assemble to tank. You probably need a little less wick than you think. Im a big fan of the closed air hole primer puff to start the wicking action. Close your air off. Couple quick pulls. Open up the air and fire off. If you are hitting your temp limit quickly after a few puffs, it means your wicking isnt working well. Get that wick performing and you will be happy1 point

Well you'd hope that's the case but unfortunately there are places out there that sell any old junk. Our liquids have to be labelled in a certain way by law now (CLP) and that includes imports, however the stores I have been in recently still sell non compliant liquids.1 point -
One of the good things is that vaping in the UK is starting to be self-regulated, shops don't sale any crap and they have a good knowledge.... in fact I only trust my local vaping shop, and I won't buy from any other place.1 point

I find this topic interesting. Especially about PG and nicotine. I've often had an O ring fail and got a bit, ok sometimes more than a bit of eliquid in my mouth and out of politeness, swallowed it. So far the only ramifications of that is hiccups. They occur about two minutes after swallowing. I drink a bit more than usual of what I'm currently drinking, water, coffee, beer to dilute it and the hiccups pass in about three minutes from onset. That's it. Of course individuals are all different, but swallowing liquid is more likely to cause absorption than dripping it on your skin. I haven't croaked, kicked the bucket, dropped dead, bought the farm, etc. so far. (unless you listen to the US Social Security Admin. but that's a different story. The reason PG interests me is because here in Malaysia I've had so many many people accuse me of vaping engine coolant and are surprised when I tell them that this is Propylene Glycol, not Ethylene Glycol. Ethylene Glycol being the antifreezing agent in engine coolant. So many ignorant people spouting off on what they think they know. Now, for fun, I had a duck for a pet when I was young, and no, the other kids didn't call me "duck boy", they called me much worse, but that's not the point of this. I used to use Veggie Glycerine to keep the duck's water from freezing. Recommended by the vet. I could by it very inexpensively at either a pharmacy or the vet's in 1 litre bottles. Hard to remember so long ago, but that duck lived much longer than most domesticated birds (of course wasn't used for Christmas dinner) without any noticeable health consequences.1 point

I have been checking the forums out and decided to join. My Story, wife started vaping and hasn't smoked in 5 months. I saw what it did for her and I tried it to see if I could quit chewing or rubbing "snuff" after 39 years. After adjusting he nicotine I can now say I'm 5 weeks snuff free... Quickly advanced from Aspire pen to IPV4, nickle wire, Kanger mini and KayFun 4 I traded one habit for another. lol1 point

I really should check it out. I've got so many bottles open and going at the same time as well as so many tanks full, 1/2, 1/4 full. I never know how much I use. When I was smoking is was so easy. 2 packs a day unless drinking then it's more. I guess it would be nice to know.1 point

I hope this solution works for you. It sounds like you have a good customer service oriented shop. I'd take this seriously since there isn't much in eliquid to cause stains. (Disclaimer) I'm not a doctor, nor have I played one on tv, but I did PLAY doctor with the other neighbourhood kids 55 years ago, so you can judge my qualifications.1 point

I took my set up to the shop I bought it from today and he said my case is extremely unusual. He has replaced my 20 Istick with a new 20 Istick, give me a new different aspire tank and 6mg blueberry Hangsen liquid all for free and told me to try again. If I get even a hint of the same happening again I will take it all back get a refund and go back to my old set up. heres hoping all goes well now because it really wound me up1 point

Honestly easy enough to buy liquid caffeine and it does mix well with e liquid, the end caffeine result isn't worth much, can't make the mix strong enough for the caffeine to be of any use. Plus the whole issue of not being processed well by the lungs. I gave up the experiment .1 point

ATT Newbies & Vets Alike - Sub Forum Requests
jonnoh reacted to Christopher for a topic
Some great ideas here and the 420 or THC based sub forum is being heavily discussed by the staff at the moment as it's the taboo topic no other forum wants to discuss. (And interestingly Vapor Talk was started once upon a time after some disagreement with ECF members. May as well keep the controversial roots going ) At any rate if we did include such a sub forum it would likely have it's own category with a heavily regulated set of rules to ensure those topics didn't leak out into the main forum.1 point -

For a lot of us, our questions have been answered and we have answered the same ones about a thousand times. I know that is the purpose of the forum in the most basic explanation and we will keep doing this BUT I think some ideas I like would be Picture Subforum: Post pics of anything not indecent (or indecent if you are hot) lol Politics Discussion Subforum "In the news..." Subforum Sports Subforum "420" Forum? (I know this goes against forum guidelines BUT it would be optional to visit and is a very interesting topic to many here I think anyway) etc.....1 point -

Reminds me of the militant femi-nazi that came to our back table in a restaurant about 25-yrs ago. My wife was breastfeeding our newborn son, completely covered and discreet, and I doubt more than 4 people in the restaurant even knew we were IN that booth. Anyway, she came over and started ranting about how shameful it was to expose a breast like that, and she should do such wicked things in the bathroom, where it belongs, because "real people" were trying to eat a civilized meal. I stood up, walked over to her table, and picked up her plate... started walking... she screamed at me because I had dared to touch her plate, and demanded to know what I was doing... I turned to her and politely said (in front of the whole restaurant) "I'm taking your plate to the women's restroom. If my son has to eat his meal in there, it will be good enough for you too, right?" The manager stopped her before she could hit me, and asked her (and her timid/whipped husband) to leave, immediately. We, on the other-hand, received our meal for free, and were welcomed back1 point -
Coolest thing about vaping for me is being able to walk up a flight of stairs and not needing a paramedic when I get to the top1 point

Man I hate this new editor. I just spent a half an hour detailing my response and locked up. The short version follows: sorry, I am being a little harsh on you because your post does not contain enough information to make it useful and Implies a couple of things that cannot be taken as truths. Point #1 - when you use the term "antifreeze", 90% of people are going to equate that with what is commonly thought of as automotive antifreeze and pg is not an ingredient in automotive antifreeze. Also, the association of one ingredient in antifreeze is out of context and is irrelevant and alarmist. Water is used in anitfreeze. So what. Equating chemicals with each other because they are used together is irrelevant. IPoint #2 - PG itself has a lower freezing point than water. It is used in conjunction with other chemicals as an ingredient to lower the freezing point of fluids used in equipment where hazardous exposure of the fluids to humans, animals, foods etc must be taken in to consideration. PG is considered benign - has no detrimental or toxic effects in relative quantities. Again, it's use as an ingredient in anything else is irrelevant. point #3 - you call it's use in e-liquids "the biggest problem" - it's a misstatement. I don't know what you mean by that statement. You might as well say "the biggest problem" with water is it's used as an ingredient in antifreeze. It's just absurd. point #4 - you have no way of proving pharmaceutical grade pg is in "most e-liquid". In fact "pharmaceutical grade" is a designation placed on a product by the USP and only sold by physicians and limited pharmacies. It is not likeLy e-juice manufacturers are using pharma grade pg. Not impossible, but not likely. You also cannot say it's "perfectly safe" (in the context of vaporizing it). No one knows that and it hasn't been proven to be fact.1 point

If I could.....
jonnoh reacted to Adversarious1 for a topic
For me, smoking was always about more than just getting a "fix". In fact, I actually enjoyed the act and the sensation more than the nic fix. The nicotine was obviously addictive, but in just a couple of short weeks I've dropped from 18mg nic to 12mg nic in my "commuter" setup, and I'm at 6mg in my "kick back with a beer or three in the mancave" setup. I have every intent to get to 0mg, but I'm a gadget geek and I legitimately enjoy the sensation. No, I have no intention of stopping vaping.1 point -
It has saved my life,I used to be very overweight and I smoked a pack a day.I have since lost 40 pounds and have completely kicked the nasty habit of cigarettes.I've been vaping for almost a year and its the best thing to ever happen to me.I could stop vaping tomorrow and I would be just fine, but i enjoy it and its more of a hobby to me now.It makes me happy to help others with the overwhelming endeavor of quitting cigarettes. Because I know first hand like others on this forum that it is not easy. With support and the right information it can be done. That is what vaping means to me.1 point

When I quit cold-turkey all those years ago, my wife told me "I hate your nasty habit, but if you don't start smoking again, one of us is moving out!" The next day she came home with a carton of my favorites Apparently I was a grizzly-bear to EVERYONE during that time...1 point -
38 years. For the last ten I was trying everything I could to get off of them. The only thing that worked for any length of time was going cold turkey. That lasted about six months before I fell off the wagon. The next time I tried cold turkey again, my SO asked (very enthusiastically) if he could go to the store and get me a pack. Boy, talk about a foul mood... LOL. Nothing worked for long until I found a co-worker puffing on an e-cig one day. It's a miracle that I haven't wanted to go back to smoking.1 point

Don't know exactly, but over 50 years. Started way too early, but it's never too late to quit. Put nasties down the same day I bought my setup - Apr, '13 - and haven't looked back. Made a lot of people happy that day.1 point

How Long Were You A Smoker Before Vaping
jonnoh reacted to Earthling789 for a topic
Oh, I do remember those days... dad would give me $1, and I'd ride my bike to the little corner store with one gas-pump and buy him two packs of Viceroy, and there was always just enough left over for a candy-bar or RC-cola. I guess he knew the bribery of a candy-bar or cola was enough to get me to go to the store for him (because mom never let us have candy/cola except on rare or special occasions). I never started smoking that early (was actually 17 when I started buying them for me), but back then, there was nothing to stop a 7-yr old from buying a pack and lighting-up... Let's face it, up until the late 70's, practically 2/3 or more of the population smoked! And, it wasn't uncommon when I was in HS for a teacher to bum a smoke off students between classes or before/after school....1 point -
I'm 61 and been smoking 2 packs of Marlboro a day for over 40 yrs..my grandson introduced me to vaping 2 yrs ago and I haven't smoked that nasty tobacco ever since..my COPD has improved and I hardly need to use an inhaler anymore.. Started off with a spinner/protank and now dripping on mech mods and RDA's..truly vaping has saved my life..1 point
-
I never actually thought of smoking at that time...but it obviously showed me nothing was wrong with it. So once I started hanging out with friends and becoming more independent, we all smoked. This was back when you could smoke in public places. We were all 15 and 16, one of my friends had a car first and we would go to the local mall, hang out outside the arcade and smoke like crazy. One of those friends was actually allowed to smoke in his house at that age, his folks were split up and after school we'd usually go to his house, listen to our 80 metal music and smoke like morons. We spent a lot of time at his house.1 point

For me it was about 7 yrs of cigs. I went through some pretty bad family issues and I felt at the time it was either that or drinking, and I haven't ever drank! Lol. It was in fact 7 yrs of shame because I was really ashamed of myself that I stooped to that point. I also at that point was dealing with bleeding stomach ulcers. Now with no cigs and 2yrs in and out of the hospital 9 times I am feeling better. It was pretty rough and still hard some days but I don't want a cig at all, don't miss it, don't crave it and don't intend to ever go there again. Dc1 point -
Every time this question is asked I always mean to start keeping track. It hasn't happened yet. Still have no clue how much I vape per week or even per day. At any given moment I'm dripping my ADV and switching between 6 - 10 different tanks. It all depends on what I feel like at the time.1 point
