  2. My assistant's husband tried vaping but then went back to smoking when some major stress hit. He had some bad symptoms from vaping. I offered to troubleshoot and get him on the right road. Now, it's up to him to take me up on it. If he does, he's going to be surprised with lots of good gear that I have on hand to pay forward. These are my back ups of back ups of back ups that I no longer have a need for as I've moved on

    1st solo build.

Just finished this baby. Checks out at 1.1 ohms on the MVP. Should be pretty safe. This is my first build as the guy at the shop where I bought the Freakshow helped me build my first one. Gonna load her up with some Cosmic Charlie's Banana Brulee and see what we're working with.

  4. The folks at Coil-Master.net were kind enough to send me one of their new coil winding tools for evaluation and review. I have no clue on the retail cost from online retailers, or if the V|T Store will carry them, but from the manufacturer, they're $25.99 (and they offer $5 coupons), so this 5-in-1 tool runs about the same price as ONE Kuro Koiler. My first impression is that they are straight, smooth, and well-built tools. The diameter of the coiler body is slightly smaller than a Kuro Koiler, but still easy to handle. The mandrel diameters offered are 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm. I have not verified the sizes with a micrometer, but I will (as soon as I get a chance). It also comes with a decently-made pouch to carry/store the handle/mandrels in. The finish and labeling seem to be well done, but there is a slight bur on the exit-side of the wire-hole (next to the mandrel). It's not a bad bur, but a raised, rough spot where the hole was drilled. It does not seem to affect the function, nor does it appear to nick the wire, but if it does, it's nothing that can't be fixed with about 2-seconds and a Dremel Tool. I do wish the screws were a tiny bit easier to turn with your fingers, and the "typical blue" allen-head screwdriver is a bit cheezy, but functional. I think a real, right-angle allen-wrench would have been more appropriate and easier to work with / manipulate. I'll give it a thorough work-out this weekend, as I need to re-coil a few of my RTA's, and I need to rebuild a couple of KPT coil-heads, too. More review to come....

  5. Well, I was at work today, enjoying the 65-deg weather on the patio, and enjoying my vape on my lunch-break, when a couple of the smokers came out... One of the ladies looked at my rig (Cloupor mini and Russian 91%)... stared at me... and then walked over to make her (media biased, uninformed) comment to me... of course, regarding the recent "news"... She said, "I hope you don't blow yourself up with that thing, 'cause I'm not going to take you to the hospital" Now, my immediate brain synapse was to lash into her about media lap-dogs, etc. and cut her down... but I took a breath and calmly said... "Yeah, it's a tragedy when a new vaper gets sold advanced gear without any training or knowledge, just to make a sale... I feel bad for him, and I sure hope the guy that sold it to him feels bad too." Then, I proceeded to educated her (as she now seemed interested) on the benefits of vaping, how it got me away from 30-yrs of smoking, and how much better I feel every day I'm away from smoke She may never try vaping, but if she does, I hope she'll come to me or at least another person (who is not an idiot sales-person looking to make a sale). I offered my services to help her get started... maybe soon she'll strike up another conversation?

  11. A while back, I purchased some 6mg to use in my RDA that was the same flavor I normally put in my RTA's. Now 6 is what I'm using for everything. My goal is to completely quit vaping also. Want to be completely free from batteries, juice, RTA's, RDA's, etc. Just want to walk out of the house without wondering, in the back of my mind, if I have enough stuff 'just in case'...

What does vaping mean to you?

It has saved my life,I used to be very overweight and I smoked a pack a day.I have since lost 40 pounds and have completely kicked the nasty habit of cigarettes.I've been vaping for almost a year and its the best thing to ever happen to me.I could stop vaping tomorrow and I would be just fine, but i enjoy it and its more of a hobby to me now.It makes me happy to help others with the overwhelming endeavor of quitting cigarettes. Because I know first hand like others on this forum that it is not easy. With support and the right information it can be done. That is what vaping means to me.

  14. I was kind of vague in my answer. They LOOK extremely dirty after 3 days. It is worse than any I have ever seen. I ran them for a week or so and the flavor became muted and I changed it. (I was running about 50 ml through a coil) I have never had one fail, or get really bad, just less flavor, possibly less than my Nautilus. I don't think that I will ever go back to the stock coils though. The Tiger wire, thick wick combo is so much more flavorful, and spits so much less than the stock coils. I am also running a lower wattage and using much less juice.

  18. Yes, Tam... both the cap and the mandrel are marked with the size... and each mandrel has it's own cap, as well as two screw-hole locations for thinner or thicker wires. The body holds each mandrel, and a cap holds the mandrel in place (all have the same size base). The body-cap compresses the mandrel to hold it tight. Then the top-cap spins on the mandrel to make the coil (like the Kuro Koiler and other similar designs).

It is funny how a Bill gets introduced, written, and passed into law now. The way it should go is a many complaints from the public and many public groups should = A bill being written and introduced. The way it is now, little to no public complaint. Big business who write big checks get the bill written and introduced. I know many smoke shops and Vapor Business that have opened in IL, them and there clients are frantic writing her to change her mind. So I bet you she has been contacted more by people who said they do not want this bill, then anyone who said they wanted it. Now isn't sad that politicians are elected to a term of service, to service us the people and what the people want in big government. They forget that. They are supposed to be our voice in big State politics. They are not elected to get there fundraising campaign padded by big corporations. We also do not elect them to listen to there ideas and beliefs, they should be listening to ours.

  26. On Tuesday, I was vaping outside work and one of my co-workers noticed my gear and struck up a conversation. He realized I was using a Russian 91% and mentioned that he had one that was "junk", and wanted to know if I could use it for parts. Hey, free is free, so I said "sure"... he brought it to me yesterday... in the original box, unopened accessories, and leaking juice like crazy . Last night, I was taking it apart for cleaning, and quickly realized exactly WHY it was such a horrible RTA for him He normally uses KPT2's/Nautilus on a Mech-mod or Vamo, and some shop in/near Lexington, KY talked him into buying it (obviously to make a sale of a $139 RTA)... and this is what the shop built for him... with cotton piled-high around the coil, packed in the chimney! I checked the resistance, and it's a 0.7 Ohm coil... on an RTA where builds are best in the 1.2-1.8 Ohm range (yes, the upper deck is scorched and insulator slightly melted - yes, it is wrapped around the air-hole). I honestly don't see how this thing could to anything but make the deck hot and leak like screen-doors on a submarine I cleaned it up last night, and tonight I'm going to build it RIGHT @ 1.4-1.6 Ohms and organic Japanese cotton... and offer it back to him tomorrow... after-all, it's not his fault the shop is ran/staffed by idiots....

  27. Well, I had to take a break from work to give everyone an update... I tracked him down this morning and handed him the "box"... he sighed heavily and said, "I guess it was too far gone, huh?" I smiled, and opened the box, and showed him the "clean" Russian, and began to explain that I was giving it back to him because there was NOTHING wrong with it (aside from the idiot that sold it to him). He tried to be nice and insist that I keep it anyway, but I told him that I couldn't do that to him (or anyone for that matter)... He had been taken advantage of once already, and there was no reason why he shouldn't ENJOY his purchase, to the fullest extent possible! I took it apart and showed him how parts are supposed to fit, how the coil was built and mounted, etc. I then educated him on using an Ohm meter (showed him how with mine), how to dry-burn the coil (and look for inside-out glow), how to tweak the coil if it gets bent during re-wicking... how to wick it, re-assemble, and how to properly fill (from the bottom). He was so excited to see it properly built, and insisted that we fill it and "take a break" so he could try it out BTW, Comp, he loved your PBFB, and I gave him your website so he can order more He had bought that RTA about a year ago, and it had been sitting in the box (slowly leaking juice) since the day after he bought it Now, he has a fully functional, authentic RTA... and hopefully he's a little more educated as well

    Diy-How To Basics

Hopefully Last but not least...... Supplies: 1.Empty dropper bottles- 3ml, 5ml, 10ml sizes are great for mixing. 2. Pipette or syringe with blunt needle. Personally, I prefer using a syringe for mixing--More accurate. 3. paper towel or rag for handling any spills or messes 4. Labels are good for identifying your new mixes. If using paper labels I have found that applying scotch tape over the label keeps the label legible. 5. mixing calculator helps with acheiving the correct nicotine strength. There are other calculators out there, but I like Todd Muellers: http://www.todmuller.com/ejuice/ejuice.php . I usually put my flavor at 30 - 40%. I like lots of flavor. Mixing -can be simple (combining premixed liquids to create a new flavor) or more complicated, mixing from scratch. Or somewhere in between. 1. Always start your mixing or experimentation with small amounts. Its much easier to throw out a small amount of liquid if it turns out bad. The 3ml bottles are great for experimenting. 2. Its a good idea to keep track of what and how much you have added to your mix--just in case you want to make more. **It is easy enough to mix 2 or more premixed liquids together to get a new flavor. This is easiest if you are using the same nicotine strength. i.e.- Tobacco 18mg/Watermelon 18mg/menthol 18mg/pina colada 18mg. The amounts would depend on taste. Start with 5 drops of each in a 3ml bottle, shake and vape--can adjust the flavor as you want by adding more of one of the flavors. with the menthol--using just 1-2 drops/3ml will give a nice cool throat hit without tasting like menthol. ** Can use PG/VG or both to cut a higher strength liquid. i.e.- 24mg premixed liquid 1ml can be mixed with 1ml PG or VG to make 12mg/ml liquid. If cutting a premixed flavor, keep in mind, it will also decrease the flavor. If you don’t want the flavor loss you can cut with 0 nicotine strength in the same or a different flavor. You can also use flavorings to boost the flavor. use the calculator to determine how much PG/VG to use to achieve the desired strength. Just put 0 in the water and flavor boxes. ** Adding Flavoring to premixed liquids This is actually one of the easiest forms of mixing and is a great place to start the DIY journey. We all have flavors we don’t really care for, but by adding flavoring you can create a flavor you like. Keep in mind--when adding flavoring it will dilute the nicotine strength of the premixed liquid. one way around this is to get some unflavored higher nicotine liquid- i.e. 36mg that can be added to your mix to keep the nicotine strength at your desired level. My preferred nicotine level is 12mg/ml--so I will use that dose for mixing examples. i.e.-- cappuccino 36mg/ml, 1.7ml + FlavourArt apple pie flavoring 1.5ml + VG 1.8ml for a total of 5ml 12mg/ml. This is where the calculator comes in handy. Just put in the numbers, hit enter and the calculations are done for you. This is where having a syringe is helpful. However if you are using drops, I have found that 30 drops of PG = 1ml and 20 drops of VG = 1ml. You can use more than one flavoring: cappuccino 1.7ml + apple pie flavoring 1ml + Vanilla 1ml + VG 1.3 ml = 5ml 12mg/ml Don’t be afraid to mix more than one flavor. When cooking, most dishes require more than one flavor to get the right taste. ** mixing from scratch You will need PG and/or VG Unflavored Nicotine liquid ( I usually use 36mg/ml) Flavorings of choice i.e. Easy Watermelon 12mg/ml 3 ml PG or VG 1 ml Lorann Watermelon flavoring 2 drops Menthol flavoring (Flavourart) 2 ml 36mg/ml Unflavored liquid i.e. using multiple flavors: Apple Pie (6ml) 18mg/ml 3 ml 36/mg unflavored 1 ml FlavourArt(FA) Apple Pie 6 drops (Flavourart) Irish Cream 2 drops (FA) perique black (tobacco) 3 drops (FA) menthol .5ml PG .5ml VG 3 drops hazelnut 6 drops vanilla ** Misc Notes Tobacco Flavorings are very, very strong--a little goes a very long way. A couple drops to 5ml will give a nice background flavor. If using more, add a drop or 2 at a time to taste. Lorann flavorings are very concentrated. You would use less Lorann than you would with other flavorings. Avoid flavorings with oils or sugars--both can damage your atomizer. If you find your mix needs to be sweeter there are a couple of options: 1. Loranns cotton candy or Marshmallow flavorings are great for adding sweetness. 2. DIY flavor shack carrys Eythol Malto which is a sweetener. 3. I actually prefer the Lorann--overall sweeter tasting. 4. I add a few drops of Menthol to all my mixes-adds a cool throat hit and enhances the flavor. Just a little does not taste like menthol. If you like menthol, just add more. 5. always start mixing with small amounts and keep track of what and how much. 6. For taste testing--dripping works best. Mixing is a lot of trial and error in the beginning. Add flavoring a little at a time until you find the balance you like will help keep waste to a minimum. I am hoping others will be able to add their tips and ideas. the above is just my own opinion and my own experience. If all or part of this is confusing please let me know-writing documents is not my strong suit !!!! Merry Mixing
