  1. On Tuesday, I was vaping outside work and one of my co-workers noticed my gear and struck up a conversation. He realized I was using a Russian 91% and mentioned that he had one that was "junk", and wanted to know if I could use it for parts. Hey, free is free, so I said "sure"... he brought it to me yesterday... in the original box, unopened accessories, and leaking juice like crazy . Last night, I was taking it apart for cleaning, and quickly realized exactly WHY it was such a horrible RTA for him He normally uses KPT2's/Nautilus on a Mech-mod or Vamo, and some shop in/near Lexington, KY talked him into buying it (obviously to make a sale of a $139 RTA)... and this is what the shop built for him... with cotton piled-high around the coil, packed in the chimney! I checked the resistance, and it's a 0.7 Ohm coil... on an RTA where builds are best in the 1.2-1.8 Ohm range (yes, the upper deck is scorched and insulator slightly melted - yes, it is wrapped around the air-hole). I honestly don't see how this thing could to anything but make the deck hot and leak like screen-doors on a submarine I cleaned it up last night, and tonight I'm going to build it RIGHT @ 1.4-1.6 Ohms and organic Japanese cotton... and offer it back to him tomorrow... after-all, it's not his fault the shop is ran/staffed by idiots....

  2. Just ordered an iStick 50w from World of Vape for my better half. She has 2-20w and held my 50w and said, " I need one of those, in blue." So ordered it this morning. Thanks Tam with your help I was able to spend my money. Earthling has taught you well. LOL

  4. From the Vapor Talk store: 7 - 5-packs of 1.8 ohm KPT coils 2 - 5-packs of 1.8 ohm Nautilus BVC coils And that concludes my shopping escapades for tonight. I think. Unless Earthling get to me first before the night is over.

  5. ^^ THIS ^^ I'm quite sure that the iStick 20W were built (and still are) with the cheapest chip-set on the market... Mean-vs-RMS does make a difference, but these things are all over the place, and their is no excuse (cost-wise) to not create a VV/VW mod with MEAN circuitry! It is quite sad when you can take the same tank and switch between 3 iSticks (all set the exact same) and the vape will be different... from weak to burnt and everything in between. I'm using mine right now with my KPT3-minis and AeroTanks, and so far, so good (using Voltage-mode only, and on ridiculously low settings). I've written Eleaf a rather nasty letter about their iStick 20W, and how I would appreciate having mine replaced with upgraded models, 30W models, or perhaps they'd like to buy them back? I've yet to receive a reply... but fingers are crossed that someone replies... at least with an apology

  8. PG is thinner and easier to get out than VG. When I get the atomizer, I blow through the bottom to get most of the liquid out, then gently put in a piece of tissue and give it a few minutes to soak up the remaining liquid. This lessens the time it takes to be able to best taste the juice without the primer getting in the way. With any amount of VG, I wind up having to vape diluted VG for a time before I get to the true flavor of the juice. With PG, it's almost instant.

  9. Yep... the iStick 20W are "hotter" on any setting, and on Wattage-mode, if you have an atomizer that fluctuates readings, you can quickly burn your juice! Switching to Voltage-mode clears the issue because you level-out the output (somewhat) by setting the Voltage constant, rather than having the PV bouncing Voltage up and down trying to hit the Wattage you set (in Wattage-mode). When in Wattage-mode, I have to use 25-50% lower settings on my iStick, compared to my MVP or IPV, to get the same results. In Voltage-mode, about 20-40% lower setting is required. The odd thing is, that as the battery depletes, I can move the Voltage a bit higher without getting a burnt taste.

  12. It's the Eleaf iStick 20w that's the problem. It runs hotter than what the wattage displays. I had the same problem with mine until Earthling told me to use it in voltage mode. That works much better.

    Joyetech Egrip?

The concept of having to carry around more stuff is not for me, but if you like it, get it. We all like different things, that's what makes vaping so interesting.

  14. I think it's called a UgoOs UT2, with android marking on it. But yeah you just stream everything. I'm not even using a good Internet connection(dsl) and I love it! High Def stuff buffers on occasion but not bad at all. For the money iv saved, it's perfect. There is actually too much stuff to pick from, between movies new and old as well as tv shows.

  15. I was waiting to hear how it all turned out. This was an awesome story to follow. I just love reading stories like this where it is less about getting something but fixing it. You turned this whole thing around and may have saved him from going back to analogs. To many B&Ms are into the sale and not what really matters, keeping someone happy with what they have bought. You get my High Five for a job well done!

  16. Sounds like you are a candidate for a high performance mod if you find the nautilus not satisfying. Vaping is definitely not smoking and I don't think will ever match quality tobacco flavor or hookah. But that doesn't mean you can't substitute it with a high performance flogger and get used to the differences while weaning yourself off smoke. You can learn to do your own builds and wicking. It's not that difficult but does require a little research and knowledge. You will probably find it satisfying and a good substitute for smoking but an important aspect to vaping is becoming satisfied with vapor over smoke. That is the difficult jump from smoking/hookah to vaping, but it can be done. And, it's worth it.

  17. Well, I had to take a break from work to give everyone an update... I tracked him down this morning and handed him the "box"... he sighed heavily and said, "I guess it was too far gone, huh?" I smiled, and opened the box, and showed him the "clean" Russian, and began to explain that I was giving it back to him because there was NOTHING wrong with it (aside from the idiot that sold it to him). He tried to be nice and insist that I keep it anyway, but I told him that I couldn't do that to him (or anyone for that matter)... He had been taken advantage of once already, and there was no reason why he shouldn't ENJOY his purchase, to the fullest extent possible! I took it apart and showed him how parts are supposed to fit, how the coil was built and mounted, etc. I then educated him on using an Ohm meter (showed him how with mine), how to dry-burn the coil (and look for inside-out glow), how to tweak the coil if it gets bent during re-wicking... how to wick it, re-assemble, and how to properly fill (from the bottom). He was so excited to see it properly built, and insisted that we fill it and "take a break" so he could try it out BTW, Comp, he loved your PBFB, and I gave him your website so he can order more He had bought that RTA about a year ago, and it had been sitting in the box (slowly leaking juice) since the day after he bought it Now, he has a fully functional, authentic RTA... and hopefully he's a little more educated as well
