Not broken, but I know why it didn't work well....

Well, I had to take a break from work to give everyone an update... I tracked him down this morning and handed him the "box"... he sighed heavily and said, "I guess it was too far gone, huh?" I smiled, and opened the box, and showed him the "clean" Russian, and began to explain that I was giving it back to him because there was NOTHING wrong with it (aside from the idiot that sold it to him). He tried to be nice and insist that I keep it anyway, but I told him that I couldn't do that to him (or anyone for that matter)... He had been taken advantage of once already, and there was no reason why he shouldn't ENJOY his purchase, to the fullest extent possible! I took it apart and showed him how parts are supposed to fit, how the coil was built and mounted, etc. I then educated him on using an Ohm meter (showed him how with mine), how to dry-burn the coil (and look for inside-out glow), how to tweak the coil if it gets bent during re-wicking... how to wick it, re-assemble, and how to properly fill (from the bottom). He was so excited to see it properly built, and insisted that we fill it and "take a break" so he could try it out BTW, Comp, he loved your PBFB, and I gave him your website so he can order more He had bought that RTA about a year ago, and it had been sitting in the box (slowly leaking juice) since the day after he bought it Now, he has a fully functional, authentic RTA... and hopefully he's a little more educated as well3 points -

On Tuesday, I was vaping outside work and one of my co-workers noticed my gear and struck up a conversation. He realized I was using a Russian 91% and mentioned that he had one that was "junk", and wanted to know if I could use it for parts. Hey, free is free, so I said "sure"... he brought it to me yesterday... in the original box, unopened accessories, and leaking juice like crazy . Last night, I was taking it apart for cleaning, and quickly realized exactly WHY it was such a horrible RTA for him He normally uses KPT2's/Nautilus on a Mech-mod or Vamo, and some shop in/near Lexington, KY talked him into buying it (obviously to make a sale of a $139 RTA)... and this is what the shop built for him... with cotton piled-high around the coil, packed in the chimney! I checked the resistance, and it's a 0.7 Ohm coil... on an RTA where builds are best in the 1.2-1.8 Ohm range (yes, the upper deck is scorched and insulator slightly melted - yes, it is wrapped around the air-hole). I honestly don't see how this thing could to anything but make the deck hot and leak like screen-doors on a submarine I cleaned it up last night, and tonight I'm going to build it RIGHT @ 1.4-1.6 Ohms and organic Japanese cotton... and offer it back to him tomorrow... after-all, it's not his fault the shop is ran/staffed by idiots....2 points -

Got my Provari for Dayvape today! Very Nice, 100% as advertised!2 points -
Got my IPV mini in champagne today. Thanks, Earthling, for helping me lighten my bank account. Again. Also got my order in from Comp at Fadora! There's an original sample pack with PBFB, strawberry waffle, Birthday Cake, and Fruitti Tutti. Also got a bunch of battery cases and four VTC 4 batteries. Received a tracking number on my iStick 50w and it's coming from Littleton, CO. If it's not here in a day or two, I think we'd have a problem as they're only a couple of hours' drive up the road.2 points

I received two AeroTank V2 on Monday, compliments of Tam - a thousand thank-yous... Yes, Tam, you're welcome for the help of removing all that evil, dirty money from your bank account In the past couple of weeks, I've received an IPV-mini, IPV-mini2, authentic Russian 91%, and 180ml of my ADV. Since Tam just received her champagne IPV-mini... mine should arrive tomorrow... Yes, I couldn't talk her into buying one if I didn't get one myself Also, TugBoat sent me an Orchid V4 (which is an awesome RTA that arrived yesterday!). I'll be sending him a custom built rack to hold two Spinners and a few tanks at his desk... just as soon as I get finished building it,1 point -
Here's a really informative video from Phil Busardo (with guest Brandon from Evolv) that explains why temperature control is the next step in the evolution of vaping gear. Apparently, with TC, you can say goodbye to burnt cotton wicks and heat degradation of your juice.1 point

Well, thanks for the pat on the back, but I'll be the first to admit that if this were a $20 clone, I'd probably be keeping it But, since this is an authentic Russian 91%, and he honestly was taken for a ride with it... I would feel horrible if I kept it Someone needs to look out for the noobs (we all were one once)! I've got it built right now @ 1.44 Ohms, all cleaned and ready to go. Honestly, I can't wait to see his face tomorrow when I hand it back to him... I also had an empty 5ml sample bottle from the V|T Store sample-packs that I was saving for rainy days, and gave him a sample of Comp's PBFB as a treat, as well as a couple of Japanese cotton pads so he can re-wick it (after I show him how) and keep it going for a few months.1 point -
Thinking about upgrading
Tam reacted to Earthling789 for a topic
Won't break the bank... well, I guess that's a matter of perspective, lol... If you love/want eGo stick-style... All 1300mAH or larger Vision Spinner (original is a favorite) Vision Spinner II Smok Winder EVOD Twist Box-style... smaller, but long-lasting and all under $50 iStick 30W or 50W (20W are okay, but not as good) SMY35 IPV-mini 30W (takes 18650 battery) Cloupor 30W (takes 18650 battery) Sigelei mini 30W (takes 18650 battery) MVP 2.0 MVP 3.0 MVP 20W There are others, but these are all good intermediate upgrades over the basic eGo-C, although I still use the 1100mAh eGo-T (non-VV)1 point -

I just got a vv VW box mod. 2600mah and it also charges other usb devices. Pretty cool. Now I just need a better atomizer and find out best voltage and wattage. Goes to 20 watts, but the only atomizer I have is a Nautilus Aspire that just has a bad taste since I used crappy liquid.1 point -
Its antifreeze!
Tam reacted to Earthling789 for a topic
Pure Fluoride IS toxic, but the volume mixed with tap water is "considered safe"... HOWEVER, water treatment plants have (quite often) exceeded the safe limits in their additives over the past 50 years, and caused untold numbers of illnesses and trips to the ER by people that drink tap-water by the gallon. BTW, the only reason Fluoride is put into tap water is because of a huge push by the ADA and Health Departments to reduce childhood tooth decay and gingivitis (you know, because it's for the children): In 1962, based on scientific studies showing that fluoride reduces tooth decay, the U.S. Public Health Service recommended the amount of fluoride in drinking water range from 0.7 to 1.2 milligrams per liter. Scientists set the range by taking into account different levels of children's fluid intake according to the average annual temperature in different regions of the United States—less fluoride was added in warmer, southern climates where it was believed that people drank more water, and more was added in cooler, northern climates where it was believed that people drank less. Adults exposed to excessive consumption of fluoride over a lifetime may have increased likelihood of bone fractures, and may result in effects on bone leading to pain and tenderness. For effects to teeth, children are most likely to be affected by excessive exposure to fluoride because it impacts teeth while they are still in formative phases. Children aged 8 years and younger exposed to excessive amounts of fluoride have an increased chance of developing pits in the tooth enamel, along with a range of cosmetic effects to teeth. For prevention of tooth decay, the beneficial effects of fluoride extend throughout the life span. - Extracted from CDC website (So, to me, it seems like a tin-foil-hat conspiracy by the ADA and HHS to ensure prolonged tooth and bone issues over decades - i.e. "job security") The problem is that today people are bombarded by Fluoride in everything they consume, and it is estimated that we intake 400-1000% more than the recommended volume daily. Thus, the push to reduce the volumes of Fluoridation by water companies, as well as drink bottlers and food processors!1 point -
My favorite quote from the online article 'There’s Antifreeze in ‘em: 7 e-Cigarette Myths Debunked': The Myth: Kids like things that taste good. Flavored e-Cigarettes taste good. Therefore, e-cigarettes are targeted at kids. But really: Tim Allen used that logic once in his stand-up act: "God is love, love is blind, Stevie Wonder is God".1 point
