    Nautilus worth it?

It really isn't. You don't have to worry about that. The Nautilus is a solid performer. Add the vertical coil and it's amazing the amount of flavor and vapor I get (50/50 blend). The first time I used one I had to open a window to air out the room but then I was chain vaping quite a bit.

  2. Also, I didn't see this mentioned so I'm bringing it up now. Vaping will dehydrate you so you will want to increase your water intake. Drink more water. Not soda, not coffee, not tea or juice or whatever, just plain ole' H2O. That will also help flush all the other toxins out of your body that the cigarettes put in. You're doing good. Keep it up!

  3. I could watch Scarlett Johanson drawing stick figures of Armadillos fighting giant purple grasshoppers and I'd be thoroughly satisfied. So I'm sure I'll enjoy her performance just fine.

  4. And now you're stomping in my sandbox. A college education is what you make of it. I've seen hundreds "walk" on graduation day in May every year for the past 19 years. Many of them go to high paying jobs they wouldn't have otherwise qualified for if they hadn't gone to college. Without college to train the medical professionals, where would you be healthwise? It may not be perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than the alternative. Sure, some go to college and get nothing out of it. You get what you put in. If you work at it and learn from it, you're probably going to get something worthwhile out of it when you get the degree. *gets off soapbox*

  5. Keep in mind you are also detoxing and experiencing withdrawals from much more than nicotine and a lot of what you are "craving" is a ton of other things in cigarette smoke that aren't in an e-cig. Hang in there and the cravings will diminish over time. For some it can be quite the battle so don't give up. Just ride it out and keep your nic levels up there until you can taper off as you desire. Just another thing to consider as you ween yourself off of ciggys.

  6. Ok thank you both for your help, They did say at Cravin Vapes that I could bring the juices in and have them adjusted if I needed so maybe I will try that. The throat hit is fine and on one I did opt for the 5% flavor increase. As far as how often I can go out at work and smoke, well I am a salaried manager so I work 10-16 hour days most days and so unlike everyone else I do not get scheduled breaks and lunches for me is is run when you can and hope you get time to finishe a cig before someone is on the radio needing you. There is only one person in the building that is above me and when he saw me today with my vape he was actually very supportive and wished me luck in quitting cigs. we do allow them in the building just not in front of customers, so when I am in the office or kitchen and such I can use just not out on the floor. The pen I bought was a very cheap model just for me to try and see if I would even be into it, it is not adjustable or anything like I have read that many are. It was a starter kit but for now it is doing fine for me, though liking it the way I do so far I may upgrade at some point soon. I have tried the e-cigs and they did nothing for me, chantix, which made me vomit every day for the first few hours after I took it, patches which help with the nicotone need but never really made me want to quit, and gum which I hated. This is the first thing I have tried that has helped, granted it has only been 48 hours but honestly I had 9 cigs all day yesterday and 5 so far today and I have been up since 530 am so that is huge for me.

  7. No worries. 1st question, the nic level seems normal based on your old usage, only thing that might change the nic level IMO is how much you can use your ecig to get the nic fix you need. If it's a 5-10 min break and then back to work, it can vary. If you can vape mostly when you want, and still don't get what you need, then you could up the nic. 2nd question, although I can't tell you what Kalamazoo vapers liquid uses in the liquids, my first juice that got me off analogs was from them. 3rd question, PG=flavor and added throat hit, VG= vapor and a slightly sweet taste. 50/50 is great for most tanks. The way I see it, use it as much as you need.

  8. I was actually thinking about it yesterday and I believe I've been smoke free about 6 years now. Vapor Talk started in 2008 (Jan) and I believe I may have slipped up that year once or twice but other than that I haven't smoked. It's amazing how quickly time flies.

    Diy-How To Basics

DIY Tips and Info I know this is a lot of information, but I hope it helps those looking at trying their hand at DIY. Keep in mind, This is just my own experience. PG- Propylene Glycol : It is a colorless, nearly odorless, clear, viscous liquid with a faintly sweet taste, http://en.wikipedia....ropylene_glycol VG-Vegetable Glycerin(Glycerol): In foods and beverages, glycerol serves as a humectant, solvent and sweetener, and may help preserve foods. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycerol PG and/or VG are both used as the base of the E-Liquid. PG/VG can be purchased from most E-Liquid suppliers with or without Nicotine. Unflavored PG or VG with Nicotine can be purchased for the purpose of mixing your own liquids and can be purchased is many strengths. PG/VG without Nicotine is necessary for mixing your own liquids. Glycerin can also be purchased from most pharmacies-over the counter. Humco is one brand of Pharmacy Grade (USP) glycerin. It is sold as a skin protectant. It is a clear, slightly thick liquid and has a sweet taste to it. There is also a Food grade VG- Wiltons- sold at Craft stores in the baking sections. Can sometimes be found at Walmart in the craft section. The information will have to be put into a couple posts--The server doesn't like the long version....

    Jargon For Noobs

Sometime the vets on the forums tend to use terms and slag for some of the most common items, methods and hardware for vaping. This is not the ultimate guide but should make some of the terms a little clearer. (I hope)... Basic Jargon Vapor - Vapor is the substance exhaled when using an electronic cigarette which may look similar to cigarette smoke. Vaping - The act of using an Electronic Cigarette (as opposed to "smoking", as the device creates a vapor rather than smoke). Vape - Used often in place of the word smoke. I vape, I'm vaping. Batt - Battery. Atty - Electronic component that turns the eJuice into vapor. Cartridge or Cart - The part of a three piece electronic cigarette which contains the liquid. These come blank (with no liquid), or prefilled. Cartomizer or Carto - The part of a two piece electronic cigarette which contains the liquid. These come blank (with no liquid), or prefilled. Analog - Traditional tobacco cigarette. DIY - Do It Yourself. Dripping - To place a few drops of liquid directly onto the atomizer instead of using a cartridge. Drip Tip or DT - A special attachment used to make it easier to drip eliquid directly onto the atomizer. Mod - Modified (custom built) e-cigarette. TH - Throat Hit a strong feeling in the back of the throat when vaping. Primer Puff - A short, quick mouth inhale on the electronic cigarette similar to the action when smoking a pipe or cigar. This heats up the atomizer before a full draw. PV or Personal Vaporiser - An electronic cigarette. Some prefer to use this term as the word 'cigarette' has a lot of negative connotations associated with it that do not apply to PVs. PCC - Personal Charging Case / Portable Charger Case. Passthrough or PT - A USB adapter for the Electronic Cigarette which screws onto the atomizer like a battery, but draws power from a USB port. E-Liquid / E-Juice E-Liquid / E-Juice - A Flavored or unflavored liquid for use in an electronic cigarette, usually (but not always) containing nicotine. VG - Vegetable Glycerin PG - Propylene Glycol PEG - Propylethylene Glycol PGA - Pure Grain Alcohol NPG - Not containing Propylene Glycol. Sometimes used as a synonym to Vegetable Glycerin. Nic - Nicotine Cartridge Related Filler - The clump of fibers that hold the liquid in the cartridge. Stuffing - Another term for filler. BFM - Blue Foam Mod. (cart filler material) Dripping - To place a few drops of liquid directly onto the atomizer instead of using a cartridge. Dry Smoking - Same thing as dripping, referring to the fact that the cartridge us usually not filled, therefore dry. Tailpiping - Vaping directly from the atomizer without using a mouthpiece/cartridge. Drip Tip or DT A special attachment used to make it easier to drip eliquid directly onto the atomizer. Topping Up/Off - To add a few drops of liquid to a partially used cartridge to prolong its use. Measurements LR - Low Resistance HV - High Voltage (typically a 5 or 6 volt ecigarette) IMR - A battery with lower internal resistance and a high discharge rate, good for high drain applications like ecigarettes. in - inch (also abbreviated ") (1 inch = 25.4 mm) mm - millimeter (1 mm = 0.039 inch) cm - centimeter (1 cm = 0.394 inch) oz - ounce (1 fluid oz = 29.5 ml) ml - milliliter (1 ml = 0.034 fluid ounce) cc - cubic centimeter (1 cc = 1 ml) mg - milligram (often used as measure of nicotine per ml of eliquid) mA - milliamp (often used as a measure of available power) mAh - milliamp hour (often used as a measure of battery capacity/duration Forum Phrases PM - Private Message Troll - Somebody who makes a statement with the intention of annoying or angering other posters. This person usually ends up banned.

  16. In a very rough explanation; am sorry about the wording, English is my second language. If anyone can translate italian i would be happy to explain it that way or just look up KIRCHOFF'S laws. Basically one would need to know the voltage potential right before the load. take that potential and subtract it from the source potential. this will give voltage drop up to source. Then do it after load and at load. Voltage total = Voltage potential till load + Voltage drop on load(coil)+Voltage potential after load. The sum of the voltage potential before load and after load is what the voltage drop of the device would be. yes its over kill.and fluctuating magnetic fields aren't being considered ... and assumption that the electric charge (Q) remains constant..lol jeeze now i need to vape

When you said "minis", did you mean Nautilus minis or KPT minis? Still, that really sucks. Why did you want to boil them in the first place? I've always found a simple rinse in warm - mostly hot water and a dunk in Vodka for an hour or so does the trick. No need to boil at all.

    Nautilus worth it?

I don't know who's telling you the Nautilus is like a cartomizer, to me, they're not even in the same league. In my experience with the BVC and the Nautilus mini, it's the closest I've found in flavor and vapor production as my HH.357 direct dripping atomizer.

  26. Yep. If you're going to build your own coils, the first thing on your shopping list is not a mod or RDA/RTA/RBA... it should always be an ohm meter or multimeter. Next on the list is to research how to use it properly (if you're not already familiar). The kanthal, wick, RDA, mod, battery and juice are all way down the list in comparison. T-Bone is good about listening to sound advice and asking lots of questions. Good luck to you in your next step of vaping. Stay safe!

    Watcha Readin'?

I've only read a couple Chrichton's, but I must say that 'Timeline' was one of my favorite books. I was told they made a movie of it, and I'm glad I never saw it, as I would find it impossible (as with most attempts) to duplicate the quality of the movie it created in 'my mind'. I never read 'Lonesome Dove', but I saw the mini series. My son read the book after seeing the mini series and said compared to the book, the mini series is like a 'condensed' version. I will either see a movie, or read the book, but never both.

  30. In lay terms it is the loss of voltage that is absorbed by the components of your device before it reaches your atomizer. For example if your battery is putting out 4 volts but your atomizer or coil is seeing 3.8 volts then you have a voltage drop of .2 volts. You would have to use some equipment to measure the voltage drop accurately. Different devices have different amounts of voltage drop depending on their construction and the materials used. A switch for example with poor conductivity due to inferior materials would create more voltage drop than a high quality switch with premium materials.

  33. With being a 1-1 1/2 pack a day smoker, and 20 not being enough, you would want 24mg. That is where most people start at that smoked what you have. If the ingredients are not on the bottle don't buy it. There should only be 4 ingredients. PG. VG, Flavoring (non oil base) and Nicotine. Some companies add water and that is fine, but can ruin a good juice IMO. Some add food coloring, IMO, this is one item that is not needed except to make it look like the flavor. PG is the flavor carrier and adds throat hit VG is the Vapor producer and cuts flavor if the maker doesn't adjust for higher the VG and cuts throat hit. Having said that, 50/50 is a good starting point and is the best of both.

  34. I also believe in fiscal conservatism. What's ours is ours and the Puppet in Chief as well as lawmakers need to stop using finacingin as stop-gap solutions to the devastating Great Recession. The wages I earn in a fair-trade agreement with a company for my services for the wages returned to me per agreement is mine and mine alone. The argument of the Income Tax law and its obvious illegality is something I try to pay attention to, especially given the power of a for-profit, private semi-governmental body like the IRS can kiss my pickled arse.

  44. The only vaping gear sold on Amazon are through their partner vendors. I have family that work for Amazon, and asked why Amazon doesn't sell vaping gear directly... the short answer... someone in corporate deemed vaping gear as "drug paraphernalia" many years ago. They've lightened-up quite a bit, and allow 3rd-party vendors to sell through Amazon. I'm hoping they'll change their overall policy soon and start stocking their own, so we can enjoy Prime shipping and better prices. They're adding more and more, and I think they do see the profit potential of warehousing their own, so we'll see what happens in the near future

  45. Here at Vapor Talk we get a lot of new members who have just started or wanting to start vaping. In a recent post I put all kinds of links to the most recommended hardware. The links all go to the Vapor Talk store because...it's the Vapor Talk forum and we like to support the store that allows the forum to exist. The Vapor Talk store also has some of the lowest prices around, only sell genuine brand names (no knock offs here!), and the customer service is most excellent. Here are recommendations for new vapers who need some help locating things you're not familiar with. We've all been there. It's good that you're asking questions and not running to eBay, which is not a good place to go, imo. It's all too easy to get knock offs there and you don't know it until it's too late. We see the aftermath of this all the time on the forum. Okay, here are some links: Batteries Vision Vapros 1300 mAh: https://www.vaportal...vapros-1300mah/ These are basically Spinners and new. They're just prettier than the regular Spinners is all but still great workhorses. I think they just prettied up the original Spinners and gave them a different name. Vision Spinner 2: https://www.vaportal...attery-1600mah/ You're in luck that they're even lower than before! Chargers Vision USB charger: https://www.vaportal...-rapid-charger/ These are out of stock right now but it usually doesn't take very long to restock. They should have them soon. You can also use the Joyetech charger, they work just as well: https://www.vaportal...0t-usb-charger/ AC wall adapter Joyetech wall adapter: https://www.vaportal...b-wall-adapter/ In my book, these are a must. I love to keep my computers in one piece, and there's a safety overcharge protection built into the adapters for extra protection. Tanks Pro Tank 3 mini: https://www.vaportal...ro-tank-3-mini/ These will be around the same diameter as the battery you have now as well as the Spinners. KPT2 or Kanger Pro Tank 2: https://www.vaportal...hop/pro-tank-2/ These are the full sized tanks and will make your battery and tank combo look a little top heavy (lollypop), but holds more juice. You can use the Aerotank airflow controller on the full sized tanks: https://www.vaportal...3-and-aerotank/ Replacement coils (heating element) for your tanks These are the long stemmed replacement coils for the KPT2 and KPT3 mini. Even though the KPT3 mini comes with a dual coil, you can use the single coils with no problems: https://www.vaportal...ill-dual-coils/ You can also use the short stemmed coils. These are what originally came out for the KPTs and then Kanger changed them to long stem. Some people report leaking on the short stem, I haven't had this problem except with a couple of them. Quality control isn't a priority with Chinese manufacturers so you will get a dud from time to time. https://www.vaportal...pro-tank-coils/ I would go with a 1.5 ohm or 1.8 ohm coil in either of the links above. My personal preference is the 1.8 ohm because I find that it works with the widest range of juices. The 1.5 ohm runs a little hotter than I like, but that's just me. If I forgot something, let me know. Right now, if you're on a budget, these are the things I'd recommend. Later on, you may want to look at an Aspire Nautilus or Nautilus mini with the vertical coil but those are around $24 - $26 and the coils cost more to replace. The KPT tanks are solid performers. They do have a Pyrex glass tank so you'll want to be a little careful not to break them. There is replacement glass available, though. With glass tanks you don't have to worry about what juice you're using. There are some that are known as tank crackers: heavy on citrus, mint, menthol, heavy on cinnamon... Plastic tanks are prone to crack with some of these. Glass tanks are not. If you have something you'd like to add for a noob's a la carte starter set up, please put that in the comments and I'll try to get them added here. We don't want to load up their shopping cart, that would increase their start up costs. Just the bare basics need to go here.

    Diy-How To Basics

Hopefully Last but not least...... Supplies: 1.Empty dropper bottles- 3ml, 5ml, 10ml sizes are great for mixing. 2. Pipette or syringe with blunt needle. Personally, I prefer using a syringe for mixing--More accurate. 3. paper towel or rag for handling any spills or messes 4. Labels are good for identifying your new mixes. If using paper labels I have found that applying scotch tape over the label keeps the label legible. 5. mixing calculator helps with acheiving the correct nicotine strength. There are other calculators out there, but I like Todd Muellers: http://www.todmuller.com/ejuice/ejuice.php . I usually put my flavor at 30 - 40%. I like lots of flavor. Mixing -can be simple (combining premixed liquids to create a new flavor) or more complicated, mixing from scratch. Or somewhere in between. 1. Always start your mixing or experimentation with small amounts. Its much easier to throw out a small amount of liquid if it turns out bad. The 3ml bottles are great for experimenting. 2. Its a good idea to keep track of what and how much you have added to your mix--just in case you want to make more. **It is easy enough to mix 2 or more premixed liquids together to get a new flavor. This is easiest if you are using the same nicotine strength. i.e.- Tobacco 18mg/Watermelon 18mg/menthol 18mg/pina colada 18mg. The amounts would depend on taste. Start with 5 drops of each in a 3ml bottle, shake and vape--can adjust the flavor as you want by adding more of one of the flavors. with the menthol--using just 1-2 drops/3ml will give a nice cool throat hit without tasting like menthol. ** Can use PG/VG or both to cut a higher strength liquid. i.e.- 24mg premixed liquid 1ml can be mixed with 1ml PG or VG to make 12mg/ml liquid. If cutting a premixed flavor, keep in mind, it will also decrease the flavor. If you don’t want the flavor loss you can cut with 0 nicotine strength in the same or a different flavor. You can also use flavorings to boost the flavor. use the calculator to determine how much PG/VG to use to achieve the desired strength. Just put 0 in the water and flavor boxes. ** Adding Flavoring to premixed liquids This is actually one of the easiest forms of mixing and is a great place to start the DIY journey. We all have flavors we don’t really care for, but by adding flavoring you can create a flavor you like. Keep in mind--when adding flavoring it will dilute the nicotine strength of the premixed liquid. one way around this is to get some unflavored higher nicotine liquid- i.e. 36mg that can be added to your mix to keep the nicotine strength at your desired level. My preferred nicotine level is 12mg/ml--so I will use that dose for mixing examples. i.e.-- cappuccino 36mg/ml, 1.7ml + FlavourArt apple pie flavoring 1.5ml + VG 1.8ml for a total of 5ml 12mg/ml. This is where the calculator comes in handy. Just put in the numbers, hit enter and the calculations are done for you. This is where having a syringe is helpful. However if you are using drops, I have found that 30 drops of PG = 1ml and 20 drops of VG = 1ml. You can use more than one flavoring: cappuccino 1.7ml + apple pie flavoring 1ml + Vanilla 1ml + VG 1.3 ml = 5ml 12mg/ml Don’t be afraid to mix more than one flavor. When cooking, most dishes require more than one flavor to get the right taste. ** mixing from scratch You will need PG and/or VG Unflavored Nicotine liquid ( I usually use 36mg/ml) Flavorings of choice i.e. Easy Watermelon 12mg/ml 3 ml PG or VG 1 ml Lorann Watermelon flavoring 2 drops Menthol flavoring (Flavourart) 2 ml 36mg/ml Unflavored liquid i.e. using multiple flavors: Apple Pie (6ml) 18mg/ml 3 ml 36/mg unflavored 1 ml FlavourArt(FA) Apple Pie 6 drops (Flavourart) Irish Cream 2 drops (FA) perique black (tobacco) 3 drops (FA) menthol .5ml PG .5ml VG 3 drops hazelnut 6 drops vanilla ** Misc Notes Tobacco Flavorings are very, very strong--a little goes a very long way. A couple drops to 5ml will give a nice background flavor. If using more, add a drop or 2 at a time to taste. Lorann flavorings are very concentrated. You would use less Lorann than you would with other flavorings. Avoid flavorings with oils or sugars--both can damage your atomizer. If you find your mix needs to be sweeter there are a couple of options: 1. Loranns cotton candy or Marshmallow flavorings are great for adding sweetness. 2. DIY flavor shack carrys Eythol Malto which is a sweetener. 3. I actually prefer the Lorann--overall sweeter tasting. 4. I add a few drops of Menthol to all my mixes-adds a cool throat hit and enhances the flavor. Just a little does not taste like menthol. If you like menthol, just add more. 5. always start mixing with small amounts and keep track of what and how much. 6. For taste testing--dripping works best. Mixing is a lot of trial and error in the beginning. Add flavoring a little at a time until you find the balance you like will help keep waste to a minimum. I am hoping others will be able to add their tips and ideas. the above is just my own opinion and my own experience. If all or part of this is confusing please let me know-writing documents is not my strong suit !!!! Merry Mixing

Lorann: Candy Flavoring. Very concentrated flavoring. Best for sweet flavors. 2. Can be purchased from the Lorann site. Avoid Flavors that are oil based. If you click on the 'item detail' button it will tell you if it is water soluble or insoluble. You want only water soluble flavorings. The oils can burn out the atomizer and are harder to mix. 2.
