  1. voltage devices with Chinese origins often have a menu option that allows the user to switch between RMS and MEAN (or AVG) options. Which should you choose, and why? I'm no electrical engineer, so I can really only give you an overview of the engineering involved. What I can tell you is that RMS should be your choice. Let's start with the an explanation of why the RMS/Mean option is included in the first place. Many variable voltage devices use pulse width modulation (PWM) circuitry to deliver power. That's how we can get a 6 volt output from a 3.7volt battery. The power essentially goes on and off rapidly and looks like a wave on an oscilloscope. The VMAX and early versions of the ZMAX used this pulse width modulation, but used MEAN or AVG to measure and adjust the output. Because this method does not take into account the “off” time in PWM, the actual power output was often much higher than what the device was set to. You can set a VMAX to 4 volts and get output closer to 5 volts. It's a great way to burn a cartomizer if you're not careful. Later versions of the ZMAX have been referred to as having the “8th menu option,” which signifies the ability to switch the device between RMS and Mean. RMS measures the output much more accurately and will provide a much more consistent vape. Quite frankly, there is no reason to switch back to MEAN and it's curious why that would even be included as an option. It's like giving a driver a choice of an accurate speedometer or one that reads 10mph too low. So the short answer is that RMS is the easy choice. The question really is why were we given that choice in the first place?http://vapingguides.com/blog/2013/08/rms-and-mean/

  2. Yep, I take them apart, and bundle them together with electrical tape, then just to verify how long I've been without a vape, I put a small clock attached to the top of them with lots of yellow and blue wires to keep the clock running off the batteries NEVER an issue going through TSA that way

  7. Well, let's see... after I pay State $20, and get my $4 refund from Uncle Sam... yep, I'm in the hole.... I'm one of those that adjust my W-4 a couple times a year, so I DON'T give the government an "annual interest-free loan" of MY money However, I will be picking up a second IPV-mini and probably an asMODus Colossal in the very near future... as well as another Russian 91% and Kayfun V4. I'm really loving the small box-mods and RTA combo!

Wasn't me! At least not this time. Christopher is off playing with bugs, though... Whenever I break something I usually get told by the person trying to fix it that they've never seen anything like it in over 25 years experience of fixing things.

  14. Technology has improved sooo much in the ecig werld from where they started THAT... After 40yrs of hardcore smoking (2 1/2 + pks daily non filters) I finally QUIT!!! Here's my story I werk n a Steelshop where we ALL smoke the guys I werk with started vaping a couple of yrs ago & watch'd them do both ecigs & cigs.. They coodnt get enuff satisfaction in ecigs that they need'd a bigger kick than ecigs wood give'm I told'm that when ecigs cood kick like a mule I'd try it... One of the guys gotta new one a while back that had variable voltage & he was cough'n his lungs up & I ask'd him that cood be strong enuff fer me,, I tried it.. WOW Technology had changed enuff fer me ta give this fad a try... My mother-n-law gimme an old Evod tank & some cheapass battery & some "tabacco 24mg" & I started banging that thing like a screen door in a tornado... That was on Jan 7, 2015 By 1/9/15 I was ebay order'g bigger batteries & tanks I had variable batteries overnited which I got in following Tues mail (still cheaper than buy'n local)... WOW whatta difference that made.. I hadda go better now... I hadda Sigelei Zmax mod coming in on Sat mail & hadda have a nice tank ta fit on it,, I got on Craigslist & found a guy that hadda Aspire Nautilus mini fer $10. (cuz he coodnt get the cinnamon his gf pit in it out) We met up atta safe location fer the transaction & blazed back home waiting fer the mail lady ta deliver my Sigelei.. 18350 charged & ready,, mini filled up with tabacco 24 & mail lady up the street,, tick tock tick tock I still dont understand why it takes 20mins fer her ta get 300yrds on a Sat??? Got it open,, tank on,, battery in, turn'd on & HIT FIRE BUTTON...... thought my lungs were gonna explode..... I WAS HAPPY with the kick but COUGH'd up a lung. Hahagaaaaa it came outta the box with voltage set on 5v & wattage set on 10.. Hmmmmmmmm lets turn it down some??? My Bitter 1/2 says I needa stay on cigs if I'm gonna cough like that (she's a comic).. Got it turned down after a short YouTube video cuz it didnt have any instructions in sealed box.. Ahhhhhhhh this is the ticket,, Good mouth hit Good flavor Good cloud Hmmm (lets try this like my young & stupid days of high skool) BONG HIT??? Ohhhhhh yeah... Hadnt hadda cig since last Fri nite Dont get me wrong,, I went through 40ml last week soooo yes I hit this thing a lot... BUT NO CIGS FER ME SINCE.. My findings & what really made me give up the ashes,, Was the warm/moist inhalations & from the change of variable voltage battery ta a Digital MOD & good tank Digital MOD gave my the OMG kick I was looking fer & the Nautilus verticle dual coils give me the taste I was looking fer The Bitter 1/2 says I can prolly save enuff fer the NEW BOAT I'm wanting??? Ps. I know I spell funny but its easy cuz I'm from OKLAHOMA... Hahagagagagagaaaa

    Rookie Vapor

Hello everyone. I'm Clouded Scoundrel. About 2 weeks ago I decided to put down the Newports and the vape lyfe has helped me tremendously. I've been looking for a place to go to get information about everything in the community and my buddy pointed me in this direction. Seems to be just the thing I was looking for. Thanks for welcoming me into this new lyfestyle and I hope to be talking with some of you soon.

  20. I'll say this, it's widely known that the istick uses an outdated but still effective means of performing. I would hope that anyone wanting to purchase a new device, especially if they're not familiar with the technology would do some basic research on what they're buying. Bcart, even though you keep a new car under warranty, don't you look into more than the shiny paint and chrome wheels to decide if it actually fits your needs?

  23. I'll break it down crayon drawing style for you...your device produces more power than stated....that means more heat for the coil you are using. Get a higher ohm coil

  24. BOOM exactly how I feel. If I cannot plug it in and have it work then I do not want it. Its why I drive new cars under warranty and take the "simple but effective" route whenever I get a chance. Vaping has evolved from a smoking cessation technique to a hobby to an all out obsession for so many lol. I just want to not smoke cigarettes in the simplest way possible.

    iStick and the Protank 2

I think that is why I am in industrial sales. I enjoy the technical end of everything, and enjoy talking about it...too much. Ask me what time it is....

  26. All of that means absolutely nothing to me...and I don't even care, lol. Kinda like computers, the people I help when they submit a ticket don't give two ***** about all the techno babble behind why I had to do what I did to fix it, they just need it fixed so they can get back to work.

  27. Short answer for istick users....run a higher ohm coil
    1 point
  28. It shouldn't make sense to anyone because it is the polar opposite of the correct advice. If you want a cooler vape increase the resistance. I am a "find what works and stick with it" guy and only use 1.8ohm KPT single coils in the new Aspire Davide tank on top of Spinner 2s. They have been set at 3.8v since the day I got my first one and that is what works for me. Moral of the story is a small change in resistance can be huge. Last week my coil started tasting funky and the only spares I had in my office at work were some old 2.2ohms I had when I first started vaping. I put one in and could barely taste the liquid, seemed to get no vapor so I swapped it out for another thinking I had a bad coil and the same thing happened. Switched back to 1.8 at home and bang back to normal lol. I brought a box of 1.8s to work so that never happens again.

  31. It is really common around here. My wife, who is Hispanic calls it "cheek meat" for us white guys. I have not eaten it many times, but it reminded me of roast beef. The small town I live in is probably 80 percent Hispanic and 20 percent hillbilly and we do have many unique dishes. We have a large population of semi-legal people from Mexico, it is a different culinary culture. Normal stuff during the summer it is goat roasts, calf fries, shrimp/crawdad boils and regular barbeques. I am not too adventurous myself.

  35. I've noticed the iStick requires a setting of 50-75% what other devices require to get the same vape experience. I've been running my AeroTanks on 8.5-10W with my MVP... 9-10W on my IPV-mini, and... (drumroll)... 6.5W on my iStick

  40. Specs on the 25r are for continuous drain such as a flashlight. Remember these are "SAFE CHEMISTRY" batteries which means they don't "blow up" as people seem to believe or can't get it out of their head anyway. I personally have used these batteries quite frequently at super sub ohm being responsible and checking the charge on the batteries not letting them get below 3.6 before recharging. Just because I don't want the batteries too drained, not for fear of anything getting hot. Safety is always best and depending on the RDA and Mod your using its all a factor you can get nice clouds at a .2-.3 vape all day, I'm not saying chain vaping as that will strain your 25r or any battery, but regular vaping at .15 a 25r will last me all day. Specs are Not considered on a battery for pulse vaping. Its the lack of practical application actual use of these batteries and such that feeds big tobaccos agenda imo. That being said if we are going express a opinion perhaps it should be a bit more researched. Safety is always first ohm meters well charged batteries, maintain your equipment. In light of the new testing going on ATM to be on the safe side I would suggest staying at .2 or above perhaps until we figured out the formaldehyde reality. That would certainly be more realistic a concern then the improbability of a battery having problems but you want to be aware as I said of your charge of your battery to maintain its life. Congrats on no smoking.

  41. ^^ This ^^ I was about to chime in that the 25r's were 20A rated. I would not use them for anything lower than 0.25 Ohm builds, just to be under the Amp-threshold. I think they will operate slightly higher than 20A, safely, but I'd rather not find out "the hard way"!

  42. Yea thats why today is probably the last time i buy from my b&m except maybe replacement coils. Soon as i get my tax money im going to order my istick 30w and probablya subtank from sweet-vapes and then im also getting a sample pack from fadora. I finally figured out that i can order my juice online and get twice as much for the same price i would pay for 15ml at local b&m shops....and i realize i am a little slow on the uptake with where to get supplies but i am still new to all this...postive note is tomorrow will be 3 weeks without an analog and i just dropped down to 6mg nic.

  45. In essence, YES, it is water vapor. The PG and Nicotine are rapidly absorbed by the body, and on the exhale, trace (but measurable) amounts of Glycerine are found, but mostly it is water. There is an older study (which was quite conclusive on these findings), which found the exhale to be mostly water, with trace amounts of Glycerine, extremely low traces of nicotine (1/35th the level of passive second-hand smoke of a traditional cigarette), and zero findings of toxic or carcinogenic substances. Also notable in the study: No glycerine was detected in air during cigarette smoking. On the other hand,72μg/m3 were detected during e-smoking. This amount is much lower than the threshold safety imit (TWA-TLV10mg/m3)and much lower than the threshold for moderate risk. However, it’s important to note that acrolein, a molecule formed by dehydration of glycerine due to high temperatures, was present in the air of the room during cigarette smoking test (20μg/m3). In fact, it is well known that glycerine is often added to moisten tobacco. During combustion glycerine is transformed into acrolein. The fact that no combustion is involved when using e-cigarettes probably plays a fundamental role in the absence of acrolein from indoor air during their use. As everyone knows, acrolein is a very toxic and irritating substance. Moreover it is currently suspected of having a fundamental role in the carcinogenic process.
