So I know this kind of thing gets said a whole lot around here but I figured I'd give an example. For those of you looking to build your own mods use quality parts and don't trust that the manufacturers specs are correct. I have a test box I built out of a plastic cigarette case specifically for test firing different parts. I bought what was supposed to be a 40 amp switch and test fired it last night. Things didn't go as well as I hoped but it did give me an opportunity to hopefully teach people something. This is what can happen when you use faulty or cheap parts. It melted all the casings on the wires and the switch smoked. That was using a 15 amp battery pressing the switch maybe 2 or 3 seconds. Now imagine what would have happened if I had used that switch in my mod with the 35 amp battery I wanted to.

That's why I have the test box. All I have to do is pop the lid up and no more battery connection. You never know with this stuff and even when it's from a quality vendor you can still get a dud. In my case I suspect that they either used cheap materials that melted or soldered the connections with low quality solder. Either way I'm glad I tested it. If that had happened inside my metal box I'm building it would have ended badly. all in all I'd rather have a workshop that smells like burnt plastic than end up in the er

Exactly. it wouldn't have mattered if I bought the highest rated most expensive part I could find, I still would have put it on the test box first.

Not all of their stuff is junk. It's hit or miss sometimes, they don't always have brands I know. They have always been good to me though. if it's a part that costs more than $15 thats faulty they always give me a store credit and send the bad one back to the manufacturer.

I had some spare parts laying around and the old shift knob from my truck just sitting here so just because I was bored. It's a E-go chip with an evod 1600mah battery. I need to clean it up and put some final touches on it after the liquid pvc dries but it vapes great.

I sell samples -0- nicotine samples. The VT store also has samples, but I don't think they are -0- Nic. Most vendors do not sell samples in -0- nicotine read the descriptions carefully. The best thing to do is just get the 5ml size from a vendor if offered. I would suggest going down to the E-Liquid review section for suggested vendors. DIY is a good way to make flavors, but there are things you do not want to do. Flavorings for example, do not use just any flavoring. Some grocery store flavorings contain preservatives that are harmful if vaped. Some are oil base and can coat your lungs with an oily residue that can harm your lungs. Please be safe and do a lot of research before doing DIY liquids.

There is no such thing as a 5000mAh 18650... period. A protection circuit (PCM) will significantly impact performance. An example: Total mAh means nothing to us, we need to look at vaping mAh. Note Panasonic bases their mAh at a 2.5V cutoff, in the test above using a 2.8V cutoff we see how it falls short of those claims. If we use a more realistic 3.2V, vaping cutoff the 3400mAh Panasonic only manages ~2000mAh, the protected version only gets ~1500mAh.

I know the Nitecore batteries you're talking about... I use them in my flashlights too. Yes, they are "protected" with a PCB fuse, and are taller. I'd not even begin to try to modify those to remove the protection circuit. Just use those Nitecores for your flashlights (as they are intended for) and pick up some unprotected 18650's for the VTR The Panasonic 3400's are about the highest mAh you'll find for your VTR. BTW, Amazon has a four-pack of Panasonic for $38 right now (Prime shipping). The price fluctuates from time to time but generally in the $35-40 range for the four-pack

I use Panasonic 18650 3400 mAh in my VTR. Like Earthling said, that thing lasts forever. Personally, I would only use the battery as is and wouldn't take the chance of something going wrong by trying to change a battery to make it fit.

The protected batteries a little longer due to the PCB or fuse that's one them. You should never tamper with battery. Invest in some Sony vtc4 or 5. Or the efest 30amp or 35amp 18650 purple in color. Also the LG is good check the c rating or amp limit. Another is the Samsung 25r. There is also mnke and aw imr that would work great for that device

whats up peoples!!! long time no talk...anyways I purchased the sigelei 100w about 2 months ago and its been great. it is annoying to carry around being as big as it is. Id like to find a case to carry it in on my side. Curious what batts you all are using in your boxes. I chose efest "35 amp" purple batts(I put that in parentheses as im sure they are not 35 amp, and yes iv peeled the covering off of one to see if it was a sony or Panasonic and there was nothing showing it to be either one). I only chose those cause of availability, two of my fav b&m's were all out of sony vtc4 and don't dare try to find vtc5's around here...lol. anyways so far so good, these batts on a full charge last 2 days using my nautilus with a 1.8ohm vertical coil and wattage set to 15watts on my sig. though I change batts when my sig tells me they are at 50% which when I put them on chare my efest luc v4 tells me they were at 3.7 volts. It will charge them to 4.2volts before stopping. thought about using the vamped batts but they were too expensive imo for what seemed to me to be a mediocre batt. I bought one a few months ago and didn't see any real difference between that and a sony vtc4 except that the vamped didn't last as long as it is a lower mah than the sony. in anycase I can vouch for the durability of the sig, I dropped that bad boy recently out of my pocket onto concrete and it survived, a little dinged but still works like a champ. then again it was only a 3-4 foot drop but still. not saying its the toughest thing out I guess but it will survive small bumps.
