  1. Here at Vapor Talk we get a lot of new members who have just started or wanting to start vaping. In a recent post I put all kinds of links to the most recommended hardware. The links all go to the Vapor Talk store because...it's the Vapor Talk forum and we like to support the store that allows the forum to exist. The Vapor Talk store also has some of the lowest prices around, only sell genuine brand names (no knock offs here!), and the customer service is most excellent. Here are recommendations for new vapers who need some help locating things you're not familiar with. We've all been there. It's good that you're asking questions and not running to eBay, which is not a good place to go, imo. It's all too easy to get knock offs there and you don't know it until it's too late. We see the aftermath of this all the time on the forum. Okay, here are some links: Batteries Vision Vapros 1300 mAh: https://www.vaportal...vapros-1300mah/ These are basically Spinners and new. They're just prettier than the regular Spinners is all but still great workhorses. I think they just prettied up the original Spinners and gave them a different name. Vision Spinner 2: https://www.vaportal...attery-1600mah/ You're in luck that they're even lower than before! Chargers Vision USB charger: https://www.vaportal...-rapid-charger/ These are out of stock right now but it usually doesn't take very long to restock. They should have them soon. You can also use the Joyetech charger, they work just as well: https://www.vaportal...0t-usb-charger/ AC wall adapter Joyetech wall adapter: https://www.vaportal...b-wall-adapter/ In my book, these are a must. I love to keep my computers in one piece, and there's a safety overcharge protection built into the adapters for extra protection. Tanks Pro Tank 3 mini: https://www.vaportal...ro-tank-3-mini/ These will be around the same diameter as the battery you have now as well as the Spinners. KPT2 or Kanger Pro Tank 2: https://www.vaportal...hop/pro-tank-2/ These are the full sized tanks and will make your battery and tank combo look a little top heavy (lollypop), but holds more juice. You can use the Aerotank airflow controller on the full sized tanks: https://www.vaportal...3-and-aerotank/ Replacement coils (heating element) for your tanks These are the long stemmed replacement coils for the KPT2 and KPT3 mini. Even though the KPT3 mini comes with a dual coil, you can use the single coils with no problems: https://www.vaportal...ill-dual-coils/ You can also use the short stemmed coils. These are what originally came out for the KPTs and then Kanger changed them to long stem. Some people report leaking on the short stem, I haven't had this problem except with a couple of them. Quality control isn't a priority with Chinese manufacturers so you will get a dud from time to time. https://www.vaportal...pro-tank-coils/ I would go with a 1.5 ohm or 1.8 ohm coil in either of the links above. My personal preference is the 1.8 ohm because I find that it works with the widest range of juices. The 1.5 ohm runs a little hotter than I like, but that's just me. If I forgot something, let me know. Right now, if you're on a budget, these are the things I'd recommend. Later on, you may want to look at an Aspire Nautilus or Nautilus mini with the vertical coil but those are around $24 - $26 and the coils cost more to replace. The KPT tanks are solid performers. They do have a Pyrex glass tank so you'll want to be a little careful not to break them. There is replacement glass available, though. With glass tanks you don't have to worry about what juice you're using. There are some that are known as tank crackers: heavy on citrus, mint, menthol, heavy on cinnamon... Plastic tanks are prone to crack with some of these. Glass tanks are not. If you have something you'd like to add for a noob's a la carte starter set up, please put that in the comments and I'll try to get them added here. We don't want to load up their shopping cart, that would increase their start up costs. Just the bare basics need to go here.

    Button getting hot

I wish I could help more, but you have been doing exactly as long as I have, and you probably have more experience! Hot button means resistance, so something isn't making great contact. I am sure you know that. I did have one that the surface of the brass contact pin was not flat, so it was only contacting in a very small spot. It caused quite a bit of heat. I also read this. I am not sure about it, but it seems like "resistance wire" would not be the best thing to eliminate resistance. It seems like something would work better than kanthal. Someone might have a little better insight than I do.

    My Nautilus

The original one with the large tank. It works fine 99% but on occasion, when I pick it up for a vape, it vapes only a tiny bit and I taste juice in my mouth. I usually turn the OHMS up, vape it it hard for a dozen times and the gurgling calms down and then it begins vaping well again. What am I doing to cause this to happen?

  5. With all the money big tobacco has I'm very disappointed that this was all they could come up with. Then again, with a product like this it would send people back to analogs.... hummmm

    Question from a noob

I have been using an iStick as my All Day Vape for a few weeks, and I totally agree with Tameiki on this. I think it is a great rig, but probably not the best thing to recommend yet. I have had no problems up to this point, but there are many that have. Like all new electronic boxes, these were released pretty hastily. The Vision products have a long track record. If a starter box mod is on your list, the MVP is proven. The iSticks have a few weaknesses mainly with the 510 connection. I have not had this problem, yet.

  9. Welcome! I've had tons of batteries, I am sbout to swap these out but the Vision Spinner2 VV batteries are great to start with I would say, nice long charge and variable voltage, charge indicater, plus they look good and with colours to choose from. I've tried tons an tons of tanks some good, bad and unfortunately some fake. I've stood by bottom few tanks for a long time now, there are so many to choose from, my last were a Davide BDC and Aspire Vivi BDC as I like bigger tanks. I have however just got an Aspire K1 BVC and Id say it's perfect for a beginner to start with as both battery and tank are not expensive and gives you a solid stepping stone into vaping. A big plus with aspire kit also is the Anti-counterfeit codes on their packaging as there are a lot of fakes out there. That's just my opinion after a couple of years of trial and error. I Hope that helps. Bob

  12. I smoked cigars for 30 years, and so far, the best cigar flavor I've found is "Liqua" by Ritchie... Cuban Cigar flavor. It's a 70/30 blend, but you can mix with other flavors (like Vanilla) at higher VG ratios to make your blends 60/40 or 50/50. I really like it mixed 4:1:1 Cuban Cigar, Very Vanilla, and Black Cherry. It has a smooth flavor, and sweet exhale... almost Swisher Sweet because of the Black Cherry. Seattle Vapor has a Black-and-Mild flavor that some say is pretty good, but to me it was a bit pipe-like flavor... more aroma than flavor...

  13. Well let us see. Around the first I ordered some spare parts directly from Aspire, Nautilus bottom hardware, a couple of center pins with springs for the Nautilus and the rubber seal for the bottom of the tank. Now I have two full size Nautilus tanks. All parts from Aspire came today. Ordered 3 bottles of juice from Sweet-Vapes. Key Lime Pie, Vanilla Custard and Thin Mints a few days ago and those came today as well. Almost like Christmas.

Copper is correct... the original two batteries were/are at the end of their life-cycle. Most of the batteries we use (rechargeable) are good for 300-500 charging cycles, which will maintain 90% of their expected performance. Beyond those initial 300-500 charges, their performance, capacity, and life will diminish exponentially. Newer battery technology has gotten better, and in another year or two, we should see batteries holding 90% performance well into 1000 charging cycles.... But, where is the incentive for a battery manufacturer to make a battery that lasts 2000 or 4000 cycles before your replace it? If a battery lasted forever, you couldn't afford to buy it, and the manufacturer would be out of business.... Think of headlights on your car... after a year or two, they are dimmer than they were new... if one is slightly brighter, and you ONLY replace the dimmer one with a new one, you'd see immediately the difference between the new one and the "better-of-the-two-originals". Sure it was brighter, but still not as bright as a new one Personally, I'd rather pay $10 for a new battery every year, than pay $25 for one that supposedly will last 2+ years. Just like my motorcycle tires... everyone who rides, wants a tire that lasts forever, and they pay premiums for ones that last 15-18K. Myself, I'd rather pay 1/3 the price for tires that last 12-15K, and replace them more often... over the life of my bikes, I will put more miles with "good tread", than those that pay premium prices for tires, and pay less in the long-run (* and yes, there is a difference between "cheap" and "inexpensive").

  16. Got some backup coils and a Pro Tank 3.

  17. I rinse them out with water, then soak them in vodka, let them dry overnight and reuse. This will help if they are not too gunked up or burned. I was having the same problem when I first got my Nautilus, but one day it just wasn't a problem any more...I don't know what changed, if I changed the way I was drawing on it, or if the quality of the coils got better, or if the stars all aligned properly.. I wish I could help more!

  18. Flooding on part tanks is unavailable. On some of the tanks with changeable heads if the head isn't screwed down on the base all the way it can be more prone to flood. To get the rod of the flood hold your finger over the air holes and flip it upside down, blow into the driptip. Doesn't always work but 8 of 10 times it should.

  19. something i've learned with my tanks. IF you let them come to about 1/3 or less full they will flood. If you are able to keep them above the half marker it will help. Mine don't flood anymore. On a side note i'e noticed the BVC nautilus will flood slightly if your not powered enough for the tank. anything less than 12 watts and mine will start to flood. Vaping at 12W plus with at least half full tank and mine all stopped flooding

  20. I do but rarely run into this on my full size Nautilus. I run both BVC and BDC coils with a 60/40 ratio so I cant say which would have been in it at the time. If Im near a sink I just pull the bottom, rinse it, do a burn off and continue on. May not be the right way but it works for me. Like I said its so rare it doesnt bother me. Some real good info here, Ill try some of the other remedies when it occurs.

  21. I nearly gave up on vaping because of it. The raw juice gives me terrible heartburn, not to mention, a heck of a nicotine buzz. I have had the best luck with the Nautilus. It still gives me trouble from time to time. I do have a serious flooding problem! I can't use so many tanks, that I know great products, because I flood them. I love the quality, looks, and economy of Kanger products, they just will not work for me. I need to follow the guys/gals advice and start rebuilding them. I just won't take the time.

  23. I run the BVC in mine. It floods from time to time. I run a 60PG/40VG in it. It is a little thin. I run mine wide open on the airflow at 11watts. Mine seems to be worse the more closed I run the airflow. One thing I do is turn it up so that the coil is uncovered and pull a few vapes off of it. It helps for a bit. I guess it doesn't allow any juice into the coil while burning off the excess. I am probably not the best guy for advice. I can flood an empty tank.
