Personally, I would highly recommend a couple (at the very least, and you can buy one or two more later) of Vision Spinner II batteries. These are variable voltage, 1600 mAh so you won't need to be so conscious about what resistance your coils are. The Spinners are what we now call pretty basic but they're extremely dependable and versatile enough to last you quite some time in your learning process. Add another USB charger in case the one you have goes belly up. You won't be without an extra. Add an AC adapter so you're not plugging the USB charger into your computer or laptop. It's much safer to use the AC wall adapter so you don't risk frying your computer and it also charges faster. Add at least four tanks. This way you can keep a different flavor in each one. When you want to change flavors you just change tanks. You should be vaping a couple of different flavors throughout the day so that you'll be able to taste them. Something we call "vaper's tongue" is when you vape something so much that you can no longer taste it. Changing to a very different flavor will refresh the taste buds. In absence of that, you could also carry around some coffee grounds and sniff them to refresh your taste buds but that's not as much fun and you won't get the hit of nicotine from it. Get several 5-packs of coils. My preference is the 1.8 ohm coil. For most fruit juices I use the Spinners at 3.7v. For heavier and bakery flavors like apple pie, coffee, cheesecake, etc. I go up to around 4.0v. You'll find what's right for you with a little experimentation, which is fun. The Kanger Pro Tank mini (KPT = Kanger Pro Tank) is the same diameter as the Spinner batteries. The full sized Pro Tank is bigger, holds more juice but looks a little like a lollypop. Add some Aerotank airflow bases to the full sized KPT so you can control how much air is getting through to the coil, and you've got a winner and a solid set up. All you need is a bunch of samplers in juices so you can figure out what you like. The longer you vape and get away from the analogs, the better you'll taste things and your preferences will change. What you loved at first won't taste so good. Some flavors you didn't like...or thought you didn't like before...will surprise you and taste like the sweetest nectar ever. Seriously. I highly recommend our own Vapor Talk store to get these things I've mentioned. If you get everything in the quantities I mentioned, it will run over $100 - $150 or so. BUT! You won't have to buy much more than juices and spare coils afterword. The Vapor Talk store has the lowest prices I've seen online for most everything. You'll get only genuine brand names, no knock offs so you can trust it, and excellent customer service. After all this time that I've been vaping, I've amassed quite a few toys in the way of mechanical mods, fancy APV (Advanced Personal Vaporizers), and my go to batteries are my Spinners. They're consistent workhorses that are user friendly, just what a new vaper needs while you're learning. Later on when you're more familiar with the zillion other things out there, then move up. Don't try to fly a jet when you haven't mastered the bicycle yet. That's my two cents. Others will be along shortly to give you their recommendations.3 points

Second Verse... Oh I love to have my backups, they save me stress I say, For having back-ups makes me sure I will vape on every day....3 points -
And by the looks of your picture, it's a very small eGo battery -- probably a 400 mAh. You'll definitely want to get a back up for that -- most likely something with longer battery life like 1300 or 1600 mAh so one battery can last all day. You don't want to have to wait for the battery to finish charging. Sing with me: ~back ups, back ups, you can never have too many back ups! Tanks, batteries, chargers, juices, etc.3 points

See that little white thing on the very top of the cartomizer? You should be able to get that off, put liquid onto the filler material (just a drop at a time and don't get any liquid into the center hole -- try not to over fill). Put the cap back on and vape. You can buy replacement cartomizers (with your battery, it's a fixed 3.7 volts), you'll want to stick with either a 1.5 ohm or 1.8 ohm cartomizer. Any higher resistance and your battery won't be able to give you enough oomph to heat the coils before the 10 second cut off. If you're refilling, make sure to use the same liquid as the filler material will hold onto the last flavor you put in. If you wind up with two flavors that don't play well with each other, it's going to taste nasty. Some other flavors like a fruit and a vanilla would taste pretty good together though. You can get empty cartomizers for pretty cheap: http://www.litecigusa.net/Smoktech_510_1_7ohm_Single_Coil_Blank_Cartomizers_p/510-smok-1.7-blk.htm $6.95 for a 5-pack of cartomizers. I've done business with Litecig before and never had a problem. Man, but I had a hard time finding these LR (1.7 ohm) cartomizers. The Vapor Talk store only had 2.0 ohm and up. Same thing with The Veteran Vaper. While there's nothing wrong with cartomizers, they're pretty old school. We need to get you into a few tanks with replaceable bottom coils. Much cheaper and I'm sure you'll like the taste of the juices better.2 points

My long drip tips keep that from happening (2.25" and 2.5"). They look ridiculous but I don't have any juice in my mouth.1 point

Vaping and Deer Hunting
Tam reacted to Earthling789 for a topic
Yes, Big South Fork is a LOT like the areas I hunt up here... So, finding a place on a ridge is sometimes more advantageous than up a tree At least on a ridge, you don't have to spend hours looking for that perfect diameter, straight, limbless tree for your climber! I tend to carry one of those camo heat-seats attached to my backpack, so I can sit anywhere and be off the ground (and dry). Finding an area with small trees, ferns, holly-bushes, etc. where you can pocket yourself into them is excellent concealment on a ridge or rise, especially if you can overlook a travel-route or creek. One thing I can say about hunting public land is that most hunters will be "early-birds" (3-4am)... So, your best hunting will be first light, as the late-arrivals are moving deer. 90% of the early-birds will head home well before Noon, so deer will begin to move again around 11am to 2pm-ish... and I've taken more deer on public land between Noon and 4pm than any other time of day... second most successful time of day is just before dark, at least on public land... Private land is a different story... most any time of day is good, but I still prefer afternoons and evenings during rifle season. I've taken all my kids hunting, and my boys were the most fidgety and complained the most about being bored, hungry, "can we go home", "it's too early", "I'm cold", etc. My daughter could sit for hours (hot, cold, wind, rain, snow...) and not move, and rarely complained... except that one time we sat in the rain for several hours... we got back to the truck and she could wring buckets of water out of her socks (and she was wearing waterproof boots)! That was the only time she gave up before dark.... So, when taking youth with you... I'd suggest you arrive around Noon-ish (after you've filled them up with some fast-food, lol). They'll see more, be quieter, be warmer, and will have a much better time with dad. I always hit McDonald's or Wendy's along the way and we were set-up in the woods in the late-morning or early-afternoon, usually in a blind or on the ground along a protected ridge. Even if we didn't see or bag a deer, we had a good time eating out and spending time with each other in the woods!1 point -

Juice usage is all about how much you personally vape. I go through 30-35mls a week others less ye others more. As Tam said the 4ml sizes are samples. They are meant to help you find what you like and don't without breaking the bank and having a large bottle that you won't vape, wasting money. I'm one of the few E-Liquid makers that allows you adjust your flavor, there others. Meaning say you order my Home canned peaches in a sample and uou really would like more flavor. There are options to boost the flavor up. I make every bottle to order I do not make large batches. This allows me to offer man ways to customize E-Liquid to your taste. It is why I charge a little more. As Tam said earlier, I will work with you to find what you may like and that does include custom flavors. Doing a custom flavor that is not on my menu can take longer.1 point -

Vaping and Deer Hunting

I'm heading out to the blind this evening, and plan to be vaping a mixture of apple/vanilla/black-cherry... It smells wonderful (to me), so I'm hoping the deer will find it appealing as well. On a side-note, I've shot deer from less than 20-yd away (from a tree-stand, with bow), and a cigar still in my mouth or left-hand! Honestly, the deer here, during the rut, are far less spooked by human smells. A couple years ago, I had a yearling doe walk right up to my blind and stick her head in the front window! Scared the PEE out of me... AND HER1 point -
All such awesome information...thanks so much folks! I hear what you're talking about when you mention the throat hit...when I first tried one of those Blu things it did nothing, then when I was introduced to the item I have now that was the first thing I noticed...how it felt like a real drag. I think that's probably the most important thing that helped me be without analogs this whole week. But I'm really curious about the different flavors etc so I'm off to do some shopping!1 point

As time goes on you'll better understand the terms. In the mean time, ask like you did just now and you'll get an explanation. 1. Yes, the Vapros and Spinners are the batteries like the white part of your set up now. It's the one with the button on it to fire the thing up. 2. A tank for the liquid as well as the heating coil that heats up the juice you have in it. This would replace the cartomizer you currently have, the thing with the little white cap on the top that looks like the cigarette filter. 3. Liquid. I would suggest going with the 24 mg (2.4%) nicotine since you're just now starting out and trying to stay off the analogs (cigarettes). You'll also see PG/VG ratio on some of the juices. PG = Propylene Glycol. This is the flavor carrier part of the juice. It also adds "throat hit" which is how harsh the vape will feel when you take a draw. More PG = thinner liquid. Thinner liquid = easier for the wick inside the coil to absorb. VG = Vegetable Glycerin. This produces the vapor, makes the e-liquid thicker and harder for the wick to absorb, it also adds a slightly sweeter flavor (not much). Since you're just starting out, go with a 50/50 (PG is most often the first number with VG the second) or 40 PG/60 VG. The most I'd go would be a 30/70 but that's going to be a pretty harsh throat hit with the 24 mg nicotine. More nic also equals harsher throat hit. Fadora is a very trusted vendor here on the forum. Compenstine is a member of good standing and very trustworthy. I would buy his liquids. If you go to his site, the juices can be customized six ways from Sunday. Comp won't steer you wrong, and will work with you to make sure you get what you need. http://fadoravapor.com/ Start with him and then you can branch out to other vendors' juices when you're more established if you want. Comp's juices are about the best I've ever tasted. That's not just my opinion but many other forum members' too.1 point

You don't sound needy, you sound like a new vaper who needs some help locating things he's not familiar with. We've all been there. It's good that you're asking questions and not running to eBay, which is not a good place to go, imo. It's all too easy to get knock offs there and you don't know it until it's too late. We see the aftermath of this all the time on the forum. Okay, here are some links: Vision Vapros 1300 mAh: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/the-vision-vapros-1300mah/ These are basically Spinners and new. They're just prettier than the regular Spinners is all but still great workhorses. I think they just prettied up the original Spinners and gave them a different name. Vision Spinner 2: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/vision-spinner-2-battery-1600mah/ You're in luck that they're even lower than before! Vision USB charger: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/vision-ecig-rapid-charger/ These are out of stock right now but waiting to get one won't hurt you because you already have a charger. It usually doesn't take very long to restock anyway. They should have them soon. You can also use the Joyetech charger, they work just as well: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/joyetech-510510t-usb-charger/ Joyetech wall adapter: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/joyetech-universal-ecig-usb-wall-adapter/ In my book, these are a must. I love to keep my computers in one piece, and there's a safety overcharge protection built into the adapters for extra protection. Pro Tank 3 mini: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/pro-tank-3-mini/ These will be around the same diameter as the battery you have now as well as the Spinners. KPT2 or Kanger Pro Tank 2: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/pro-tank-2/ These are the full sized tanks and will make your battery and tank combo look a little top heavy (lollypop), but holds more juice. You can use the Aerotank airflow controller on the full sized tanks: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/kanger-airflow-control-valve-for-protank-protank-2-protank-3-and-aerotank/ These are the long stemmed replacement coils for the KPT2 and KPT3 mini. Even though the KPT3 mini comes with a dual coil, you can use the single coils with no problems: https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/pro-aero-tank-refill-dual-coils/ You can also use the short stemmed coils. These are what originally came out for the KPTs and then Kanger changed them to long stem. Some people report leaking on the short stem, I haven't had this problem except with a couple of them. Quality control isn't a priority with Chinese manufacturers so you will get a dud from time to time. https://www.vaportalk.com/shop/kanger-short-stem-pro-tank-coils/ I would go with a 1.5 ohm or 1.8 ohm coil in either of the links above. My personal preference is the 1.8 ohm because I find that it works with the widest range of juices. The 1.5 ohm runs a little hotter than I like, but that's just me. If I forgot something, let me know. Right now, since you're on a budget, these are the things I'd recommend. Later on, you may want to look at an Aspire Nautilus or Nautilus mini with the vertical coil but those are around $24 - $26 and the coils cost more to replace. The KPT tanks are solid performers. They do have a Pyrex glass tank so you'll want to be a little careful not to break them. There is replacement glass available, though. With glass tanks you don't have to worry about what juice you're using. There are some that are known as tank crackers: heavy on citrus, mint, menthol, heavy on cinnamon... Plastic tanks are prone to crack with some of these. Glass tanks are not. That's enough to get you started. Man, can you imagine the commission I could get if I actually worked for the VT store and not just a satisfied customer?1 point

I think Comp nailed it. It looks like a eGo style battery, with a cartomizer. I am no expert by any means. I would look into a tank style atomizer that you can refill yourself. This will give you many more options when it comes to flavors. Your battery will fit any tank with a eGo or 510 connection. If you are trying to get by cheap I would go with an iClear plastic. If you want to spend a little more I would look into Kanger Pro Tank mini 2, or an Aspire ETS. These are metal with glass tanks. They will hold up to tank cracking juices better than the plastic. Of course as you will learn around here I have to preach backups, backups of backups and so on. It never hurts to have a couple extra batteries and tanks, just in case! Welcome to Vapor Talk!1 point

Hello Vapor Talk
@hope_photography123 reacted to Earthling789 for a topic
Yes, but there are limitations... Most regulated APVs will not fire a coil below 1.2 (like a Vamo) or 0.8 Ohms (Innokin MVP). Plus, there are voltage/wattage limitations as well as limitations on the battery (especially if you're using cheap 18650's). Bottom line, if you're not sub-ohming, and use good equipment, it is very possible.1 point -

This is one of the easiest to understand videos I could find on the subject. All it really amounts to is how you measure the voltage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpqDY21obaM I have also heard some people say it is how the device varies the PWM with respect to atomizer resistance. My opinion is it is just how it is measured and displayed.1 point -
