I think this calls for a little poem ....ahem.... If they want to ban vapin' And g-a-y cohabitatin' Then there ain't no mistakin' Their brain cells got forsaken They're lacking in gray matter As crazy as the Hatter No idea they are the latter Skulls so full of batter Can they simply be misguided? Or truly single-sided. Or can it be decided That their boat cannot be righted The lot is surely putrid Who would ban these things so lucid But at risk for being booted, I'll just call them stupid

Yes people. Time for a science experiment........ Go to your junk drawer and dig in deep, way in the back, in the corner, underneath that old pile of rubber bands you'll find an old lighter. Grab a piece of silica wick and light that lighter and burn the wick. Keep trying..... Hold it on there nice and long...... Keep going ....... Yep, it won't burn. Comp got it right. You can dry burn a coil and it will improve it if done right. But you gotta knock the junk off the coil and you have to pulse it as Tam says or you'll fry the coil and burn the insulator. It's a pain but it does work if you're desperate or if you love tinkering. It also helps if you don't let the coil get too far gone to begin with. Hey, if you're on a budget and you wanna stretch a coil it will work. But rebuilding a Kanger coil is ridiculously easy too. It takes me 15 minutes to rebuild about 6 coils nice and fresh. Even at B&M prices I buy 30 feet of wire for a little over $10 and I can make about 4 or 5 coils per foot. What is that like, .10 per coil. It's a steal. I've finally figured out how much cotton to use for wicking and it's great. I use Rixter's method with some slight modification but his method is fine. It's posted in the "Cloud Chasing" forum - How To Rebuild a KPT Head.

I have said a lot, dry burning an OEM coil is pointless. Like Earthing said drain your tank because it now has the unburnt particles that have flavored the juice. Having said that, The burnt taste is not from the wick it is from not getting all the gunk off the coil. The OEM KPT wicks are Silica and will not burn. Silica has a very high temp resistance at 1000°C. If you dry burn with a Silica wick, it will turn white again when done correctly. The other problem with dry burning OEM coils is getting hot legs. This will melt the rubber insulator and cause a really bad burnt rubber taste. That taste will also carry over even if you change coils.

Today I was at the local coffee shop (y'all must think I live only at coffee shops and pubs) and enjoying my kopi o and a guy saw me vaping and rushed over to show me his rig and we spent an hour just vaping and comparing notes on flavours and tanks and sharing supply sources (I talked up the VT store and forum maybe he'll appear here). How to make new friends! Way cool! Anyway when I first started vaping seriously about 18 months ago I had the experience at an airport smoking lounge where all the smokers sorta ignored me and didn't engage in the usual banter. I likened it at the time to the line in Arlo Guthrie's 'Alice's Restaurant' : "And they all moved away from me on the group w bench". Now it seems that there's always at least one other vaper in the lounges usually more than 1. Hopefully this movement is growing as fast as the wave of gay marriages and it will be too powerful for the governments to ban it.

  5. Well picked up some other grips a few days ago to try and make a duel 18650. Never have I worked on something that aggravated me so much lol. After moving the fire switch 3 times I finally got it to work. I need to work on the contacts for the neg side of the battery to make it look cleaner but that's what prototyping is for. Sucks I have to leave next week and will be gone for 3 weeks, I could sell over a dozen of them right now lol

Another thing to keep in mind when you dry burn: only hold the button down for around 3 seconds at a time. Go 5 seconds max, or you do run into all of the negative stuff everyone wrote about above this post.

    Backups for Backups

And the theme for this week seems to be "Have a backup!" I know for me personally, it is a pain. I only have one battery. It lasts about 6 hours of chain vaping (which I do all day long, since giving up analogs). This means that around 2 pm, My battery dies. Then for the rest of the day, it is "vape, plug in, vape, plug in". So yes, if you can afford to have a back up or six, do yourself a favor and get them! No use making your vape experience a stressful one. I do have to report, that so far so good. No analogs for me. I'm hanging in there.

  10. Yeah totally agree with you for some reason I still love the smell of tobacco in a good way. You know the feeling that once you were addicted to it. But now that I'm into vaping the smell of tobacco doesn't really affect me that much after all

If you put the replacement coil into the same juice that you had with the burnt coil, it is very possible the burnt taste transferred to the juice. Dump the old juice, clean the tank with a vodka soaked q-tip and let dry... then try again. A little burnt taste will be there at first because the old juice is still in the new coil wicks, but it will vape out after a few hits (or you can vodka soak the coil too, but it will take a few hours to soak, and a day for it to dry). Leaking is typical after dis-assembly if you don't ensure the o-rings are straight and in good shape. One at the top and bottom of the tank section, one at the base, and one at the coil. When you put them together, you just want to go to "very snug", not "jelly-jar tight" or you can damage the o-rings or deform them, causing a leak . One thing I've done with great success is to "lube" the top and bottom of the glass tank with a q-tip with a drop of juice (or even water). It will keep the dry glass from grabbing the dry o-ring and ripping it or twisting it out of the pocket. Been there, done that, and the t-shirts aren't that nice

    Oh What a Lonely Boy

It makes sense to crave or miss the smell of something that you were once addicted too. Maybe switch to vaping a tobacco flavor juice to curb the smell thing. Maybe you will kick the habit of missing it!

    Oh What a Lonely Boy

Nope now that I know what I smelled like I know I will never smoke tobacco again. Maybe I was just ready to quit but after a month or so the thought of an analog is not appealing at all. After almost two years the thought of quitting vaping has already started to creep into my head. It's nothjng like smoking for me especially in the way I feel like I have to have it. With cigarettes going just an hour was a nightmare but now that I vape I can regularly go 4-5 hours without a pull and not have an issue. I killed my last battery Sunday on the lake after a long weekend before noon and got home about 7 and it was amazingly not anywhere near the same. It was my first time I was "without" and if it was when I smoked I would have 100% left early after rationing what I had left.

    Oh What a Lonely Boy

i still find myself bumming a smoke out of pure curiosity, to see if i can still smoke at all. 9/10 i smoke half and regret it right away. but it will always be there. lingering in the shadows. Hell, this weekend after supper i got a rediculous urge to smoke. since one that i enjoyed the most was after a night big meal where youre a little full and to digest i guess. i went to vape. didnt do the same but still enough to calm me down and not ask anyone for a cig. as i said. for me anyways, it will always be there. as long as i keep it bareable i think ill be fine :P

    Oh What a Lonely Boy

For a while, after switching to vaping, I really couldn't stand the smell of cigarettes. After a year of vaping, the same thing happened to me.. It's been nearly three years of vaping only. Not one analog, and I just love the smell of cigarettes, not on clothing or ashtrays, but someone smoking nearby or smoking as I vape,.. yes. I'm not tempted in the least to try a cigarette if I have my e-cigarette, but I do know that if I had technical difficulties and was not able to even get a vape replacement at some 7-11, of course I would have an analog. I'm addicted to either the nicotine or the action of smoking, or both. That's my reality.

I do love the smell too. I don't like the smell of an ashtray. I never liked the stale smoke in clothes, or in a house. I do like the smell of a burning cigarette, or cigar. I do remember just a little over 100 days ago how terrible it tasted!

    Oh What a Lonely Boy

I still like the smell of tobacco too, as long as it's not burning. I can sit with people who are smoking and don't get the urge to smoke, but I'll sit up wind from them.

  20. http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/6-teens-hospitalized-cloud-9-drug/28214406 This stuff is making headlines all over the place. It seems to have originated in Macomb County, MI. I'm sure most of you know the story with "Bath Salts". People are mixing research chemicals every day in a race to create new synthetic drugs. Recently, though, they have created this "Cloud 9" stuff. They are advertising it as E-LIQUID!! This is going to be bad, you guys. If the wrong people get their hands on this information, who knows where it could lead the vaping industry. In almost every news story I've found regarding hospitalized teens who ingested this **** have depicted the stuff AS E-Liquid. This particular story shows a k100 with an igo sitting on top! It's very obvious that any agency that gets their greasy little fingers on the stuff is going to make it out to be a vaping trend. They WANT us to be the bad guys. If not, they would not have shown vape supplies in the story along side this disgusting chemical cocktail. There were no reported cases of children OR adults being hospitalized for inhaling the stuff. All cases were caused by the oral ingestion of this liquid. They plaster the vaping image on every story right there next to this dangerous synthetic drug. After doing a bit of research on this stuff, it seems that most of it is being distributed in MI. This tells me one thing. That some guy is making this stuff in his garage with chemicals he purchased online. I can only hope that Macomb County gets this stuff off the street as quickly as possible, and that the manufacturer loses the motivation to continue doing what he does. Unfortunately, with research chemicals, it's almost impossible to outlaw the stuff. All the chemical manufacturers have to do is change one little piece of that complicated concoction around and BOOM! New chemical. More importantly, new LEGAL chemical. This has me very scared. I wanted to share the information with the members of this community so that you may be aware of what could possibly be heading our way. I also don't want anyone to purchase this stuff and end up in the hospital.

  21. Posted a comment and I will be doing as I state: "Irresponsible reporting, you should be ashamed of your self's for putting legit e-liquid in this report alongside this "cloud 9" drug that is a danger to kids. Stick to facts and stop making it up as you go. Just because it is packaged like e-liquid in no way makes it e-liquid. Just because it is packaged in a dropper bottle doesn't mean that it can be vaporized. It takes specific ingredients to make vapor. They do state the kids are dropping it on gum. So why did you not put Nicorette Gum in your report? I am going through your video and taking names. I will be making the manufactures you show in the video aware of your adding their legit e-liquid in this report. This is so they can take legal action against you for misrepresenting their legit products." I get that they want to make people aware of this issue, but they flat out lie. No where in the video do they mention E-Liquid or E-Cigarettes and that kids are vaping this stuff, yet, they put it in writing. They also show legit e-liquid in the video alongside this dangerous new drug. This is just shameful.
