With this build, I think the focus should be on how the "blended" coils work with the std ones for balance of resistance as well as the potential shorts based on what the OP says the cotton wick prevents if I understand it right. IMO.

I use Panasonics and Sony VTCs. I know I know...charts...graphs...etc. My friends run 0.08 and sometimes lower, so I feel pretty safe. Plus a 2 second hit just about fills my lungs up so I'm not running it tooooo much per hit.

The chargers are different!!! Dont use the 510 charger (blu) for ego batteries! Fortunately sounds like you have a genuine joye battery with circuit protection so your battery is prrobably ok. Charger not so much. I suggest tossing the charger out and get standard ego charger ( $5)
