Suggestions for MOD & Anyone order from Alibaba.com?
christov11 and one other reacted to Earthling789 for a topic
Well, the term "mod" came from the original builds which were cobbled together from other pieces and parts... such as "modifying" a flashlight to handle a head with 510 threads, rather than a "bulb"... but the general consensus is, if the battery comes out, it's a MOD Many will also refer to an MVP or VV-V3 as a MOD, because they are variable voltage and/or wattage devices (I'm guilty of this too, sometimes, lol)... but they are sealed-battery devices. You are correct... a MOD (mechanical MOD) does require a bit of knowledge of electricity, especially Ohm's Law, but if using factory coils with a tank (like an Aspire or Kanger) it's not much different than using a standard, static-voltage eGo. When you move up to building your own coils... Safety and Ohm's Law knowledge REALLY comes into play, because you tend to move well outside the sweet-spot of factory coil resistances (sub-ohms) because the battery can generally handle it.2 points -
Suggestions for MOD & Anyone order from Alibaba.com?
Tam and one other reacted to Earthling789 for a topic
"MOD" by definition is one that takes a replaceable battery. Anything that takes an 18650 will be in the 1" diameter size, minimum, because the first two numbers determine the diameter of the battery, last set of numbers determine the length... A tube-mod that takes an 18xxx battery will be 22mm diameter (24.5mm = 1") at a bare minimum. The vast majority of MODs are mechanical, which means no circuitry, no regulation, no VV or VW capabilities. Now, there are some like the Innokin VTR or Tesla (VV) that are... but something like a Magneto is purely mechanical. If you're wanting VV/VW, and still small, eGo-ish, perhaps you might find an Innokin VV V3 to your liking? If you want a rock-solid box-style, I highly recommend the Innokin MVP 2.0! If you just want VV, any of the 1100mAh or larger spinners/twists from Joyetech, Vision or Kanger will do very well (and what many of us here use daily as a go-to battery). I suggest the larger mAh VV batteries because they last longer and tend to be a little larger diameter than the 14mm standard eGo size.2 points -
I WANT to vape!
christov11 and one other reacted to Raptor Vaper for a topic
There have been rumors that vaping is bad for you. What I dont understand is how FDA approved ingredients, VG PG flavoring and nicotine (all harmless) could magically turn bad when turned to vapor. That's like saying steam is bad for you but you should drink a lot of water. I'm half asleep so this probably sounds pretty off the wall and when I'm this tired I can't think straight nor make comparison. I may reiterate tomorrow...2 points -
A Noobie’S Guide To Batteries
christov11 reacted to miatafrank for a topic
A Noobie's Guide to Batteries While in the chat room one night, someone was asking if there was a guide for batteries. He was hearing all these battery numbers in the conversation, and not familiar enough to follow along. I decided to write this guide to help familiarize the noobs to all the batteries we use for mods. All of the batteries we use are either 3.7volts or 3.0volts. There is however a 5volt battery used in the Mako Maksi, but it's not one of the popular batteries you frequently hear about, so I'll just concentrate this discussion on the 3 and 3.7volt varieties. The 3.0volt batteries are primarily used in pairs for a total of 6.0volts for 6volt vaping, and single battery mods are 3.7volts. The 3.7volt batteries are usually only paired if the mod has a voltage regulator (adjustable or fixed) for consistency in voltage throughout battery life and load conditions. Now that you have a little background on how the batteries are used, let's try to make sense out of the numbering system. The first 2 digits of the battery number indicate the dimension measuring across the battery. So a 10440 measures 10mm across, a 14500 measures 14mm across, and so forth, and the last 3 digits make reference to the length. For example the last 3 digits in a 14500 battery would suggest that the length would be 50.0mm long, but that would be for the unprotected version of the battery. The overcharge/overdischarge protection circuit will add between 2 and 3 mm to the length of the battery, so a 14500 is really 52.5mm long. Aside from the physical size of the battery, there is something referred to as mah (milliamp hour) rating. This is a capacity rating of the battery, and indicates the amount of energy the battery can store. In other words, how long it will last between charges (more mah, more charge life). Physical size will affect mah ratings, and therefore smaller size batteries will typically have lower mah ratings. Some batteries are available in more than 1 mah rating. Below is a listing of the more commonly used batteries in e-cigarette mods. **This is not meant to be a complete list, so please don't shoot me of you know of a battery I didn't list.**1 point -
Electronics 101
DJ Colonel Corn reacted to miatafrank for a topic
It's time for electronics 101, and how it applies to PVs. Current flow (measured in amps) is the movement of electrons through a conductor. These electrons are sent out by the power source (volts) to act as the workers, and resistance (measured in ohms) is in the path of current flow and will slow the electrons (workers) down. Power (measured in watts) is the measurement of work being performed in the circuit, and will always manifest itself in the form of heat (doesn't that sound like heating up an atomizer to you?). Of course too much heat (power/watts) will pop the atty. Now for the math, and I promise it's not that complicated: A physicist by the name of George Simon Ohm discovered that there is a tight relationship between voltage, current, and resistance. This relationship can be described and predicted by mathematics, which has become known as "Ohm's Law". The basic statement of this relationship is that voltage and current are directly proportional (when we increase voltage, current will increase as well), and that current and resistance are inversely proportional (when we increase resistance, current will decrease). Voltage = current multiplied by resistance Current = voltage divided by resistance Resistance = voltage divided by current Power = voltage multiplied by current Now let's apply Ohm's Law to a PV: A 3.7v device with a standard atty; Voltage 3.7v divided by an atty that is 3ohms = 1.23amps The heat produced by this is determined by the power in watts which is 3.7v multiplied by 1.23amps = 4.563watts We know this works, and we can use these numbers to compare the performance of the other combinations. A 3.7v device with a LR atty; 3.7v / 1.5ohms = 2.46amps 3.7v * 2.46amps = 9.126watts (remember, this is the heat) A 5v device with a standard atty; 5v / 3ohms = 1.66amps 5v * 1.66amps = 8.33watts (remember, this is the heat) A 5v device with a LR atty; 5v / 1.5ohms = 3.33amps 5v * 3.33amps = 16.66watts (remember, this is the heat.....POP) A 6v device with a standard atty; 6v / 3ohms = 2amps 6v * 2amps = 12watts (remember, this is the heat...on the bourder of POP) A 6v device with a HV atty; 6v / 4.3ohms = 1.395amps 6v * 1.395amps = 8.372watts (remember, this is the heat....is this really any better than a standard atty at 5v?) My ohm values for the attys are approximate, but you get the picture. This really answers all the questions "will this work with this?", "will that work with that?". I also think that anyone dabbling in making their own mods should understand these basics when choosing components that will work well together, and avoid injury.1 point -
Hello! I'd like to introduce myself; first by starting with what happened the day I started vaping. I woke up with my S.O. as ususal and he made a joke that my morning smoker cough sounded like a diesel truck that refused to start. At first I took offense, because "I am a smoker it comes with the territory. AND I can cough like a lady (which isn't a thing)" After that initial thought I felt angry with myself for validating what analogs were doing to me. I couldn't even walk up the stairs without coughing or losing my breath. This was five days ago and I started with an ego-t kit with 2 miniprotank2's (already looking at mods?!). From the second I stepped into my LVP I knew I had dipped my toe into a community that was incredibly friendly and supportive. I feel my energy and breath coming back after only these few days, and I cannot wait to see how much more I improve. Even better is that my S.O. has completely fallen in love with this hobby as well! In the meantime I have sent all my smoker friends to my LVP, I know its not a "solution to smoking" but for me it has been an incredible few days and I have no cravings or interest in going back to my habit. Looking forward to interacting with all of you. Any suggestions would be appreciated in terms of mods or e-juice. Happy Vaping!1 point

but what is actually harmful in what we do? I mean you eat an apple and there are pesticides on them which are cancerouse? So we need a study taht compares those kinds of things and coffee and legit cigaretts and especially dumbs the results down for joe dirt that doesnt understand that the world is round.1 point -
Only issue I have is dry mouth and throat nothing that a water bottle can't cure. Chantix gave me all of the crazy dreams and restlessness and at the end of the day didn't work for me.1 point

I`m hoping (and praying) the tide turns. That common sense comes back to this country and we the people start doing our own research instead of believing whatever someone with a "special interest" tells them. But its hard to herd the sheeple, and the tail is always wagging the dog.1 point

I love my Protanks, especially with the airflow controller, and I'm debating whether to buy another Rrotank or get a Nauti Mini. So right now I'd have to lean toward the Protank only because that's all I've used (of the choices listed).1 point

Suggestions for MOD & Anyone order from Alibaba.com?
christov11 reacted to jasonculp for a topic
Sorry I didn't answer some of your other questions. I have no experience with alibaba.com The only VV or VW devices I have experience with is: Ego style twist. I enjoyed them, but payed them forward when I got the following 2. Innokin iTaste VV V3.0 seen here: https://www.vaportalkstore.../itaste-mod-silver.htm I love this little device. It is tiny, but doesn't last too long. I use it for a pocket vape with a mini tank on it. Innokin iTaste MVP 2.0 seen here: https://www.vaportalkstore...itaste-mod-silver.htm This is my daily use device with a Nautilus on top. Works great lasts all day, then some. If i forget to plug it in, it still goes! I read a lot about the Provari, Vamo, Evic, and various box mods. I just have no experience with them. Good Luck!1 point -

I've been trying to come up with a good description of the difference in a Variable Voltage and Variable Wattage for my friends. It isn't easy to explain. With either one you can change the amount of power to the coil. If you use the volt setting, and you use a higher resistance coil (ohms), it will make a cooler vape, and use less power (watts) If you want to maintain the heat you had with the lower resistance coil, you will have to turn the volts up on the higher resistance coil. With the watts setting. I set mine for example on 8.5 watts. The device will adjust the voltage as necessary to match the amount of resistance of the coil to maintain the 8.5 watts. This keeps my heat level fairly even no matter what tank (or resistance) I am running on the battery. Of course there are many other variables that are involved such as top/bottom coil, type of liquid, dual/single coil, battery limitations, etc that can change your vape. I like to think of it like a cruise control. I set the watts and forget it and let the chip in the MPV make all of the adjustments for me. Of course I run tanks that are very similar and work well at that setting. I hope I have not confused you, and have all of my facts correct.1 point -
However efest may be fine, its personal choice. Efest is not a battery manufacturer themselves, so they purchase batteries from manufacturers, Sony and samsung. Quality control may differ, its a constant debate, no need to continue IMO, I personally.would only purchase what I believe.to be safer more reliable batteries from the producers. I feel safer in quality control. Just my .02 worth[emoji4]1 point

Nicely put, SteezeOG... Im always getting dirty looks from people when I vape in public... I get it though, most of the time, in my experiences I'm blowing what looks to be smoke inside. So they are upset, just a respect thing when it comes to my case... the dirty looks generally come from non-smokers who wouldn't understand at all... when I run into smokers while im vaping, atleast half of the time they are asking questions because they are interested... some people think it is expensive.1 point -
