  1. Heldar

    Hard decision...

As far as Original vs Clone prices, youre dealing with a couple of things. One is cost of production in the states vs china. Production in the USA overall is far more expensive due to our relatively recent tenancy to out source. Secondly, they tend to be limited runs (intended or not is irrelevant) which allows them to charge a premium. Think of Ferrari vs GT 500 or Corvette. Thirdly, the thought of something US made or at least localish ( IE, not China) tends to demand higher prices in general, with the combination of the first two points. there are nothing wrong with clones. They use the same materials and look the same. Maybe they dont use the highest quality steel or what have you, and may have a bit more voltage drop, but as someone who isnt a "connoisseur" of mech mods, youll likely not find much of a difference between the two. Just find something you like, and something that your wallet can agree with, in terms of mods. Batteries are a whole different animal. Dont skimp, and you really have no reason to. They arent expensive. Also get a good charger, they can be pricey, relative to their function, but it will be worth it.

  3. Higher pg percentages will give a harsh throat hit, and grailhunter is correct in that the EVOD will be far more effective at producing a vapor than your BLU's did.... totally different Voltage, Wattage, and coil (both in resistance and design). I'm guessing you're using a 80/20 pg/vg ratio, or possibly even higher... Nicotine (or Menthol) may be a factor as well, although it sounds more like your issue is pg. Now that you have a "better" system... I'd try juices in the 70/30 range, and the EVOD coils wick 50/50 juices fairly well as long as you give it a few seconds between hits, lol. I think you'll be more pleased with the throat-hit if you use a juice with a lower pg%.

Very elegantly put Heldar! I agree! Batteries? Get some Sony VTC5's. Chargers can be a bit debatable as far as brand. I personally use the Efest luc v4 charger and love it. But others here may have a different suggestion for you.

  14. Yesterday I got a very nice package from Fadora Vapor! Very nice packaging, presentation and especially the glass bottles. I received a nice selection to try. I gave my buddy the apple cider and he cleaned out and reworked his kayfun. A very nice flavor. Mellow, smooth yet complex and flavorful. He likes it and I do too. It reminds me of a hot cider smell you get in the winter. I built a new coil just for the watermelon. IMG_20140605_182353 by Richstag, on Flickr I read that if you give a little space between your wraps it gives more surface area for the juice to cover on the coil. I gave it a try. Made a medium wick since this juice seems thin like it would wick well but at 1.0 ohm it will need to wick pretty well. IMG_20140605_182840 by Richstag, on Flickr I like the watermelon but just got to vaping it so I will give longer term impressions in the other section. I was surprised by the watermelon. I was expecting jolly rancher but its more of a natural watermelon flavor. It tastes like a mix between real watermelon but candy-ish if that makes sense. Thanks Compenstine! Oh, and very happy this fruity watermelon held up to the 1ohm coil. Running at 17.6watts on a fresh 18650.

  19. Whooo, what a night! After a good plate of cheese I finally gave up the fight to stay awake. Earthling- it appears my spell check nailed me on your name above, sorry. I'll take a look at some of the Macallan's price wise, but something tells me it just won't be the same. I did add a splash of water and it did open up the flavors. It looks like 1/3 of my bottle was stolen while I slept, so I'll make my cat do security at night to keep the wino's away. At least now I know what to ask for at birthdays and Christmas. American liquors have NEVER impressed me, well Buffalo Trace's unaged white liquor was just as good as my shine I made. Other than that the flavors and smoothness are hard to reproduce. Sure I could try some some of the better American boozes, but I'm rather sure I'd have a collection of liquor I don't want to drink. Plain and simple, this Glenlivit Nadurro is magic in a bottle.

  23. I understand. For us it is things like that that gets the FDA and other anti vapeing peoples panties ruffled and crying that vendors are marketing to kids, trying to make it cool like they did with cigarettes years ago.. So, it is kind of a sore spot for many at the moment. Its hard to understand why someone would want to have the habit and get hooked on nic. I started smoking as a kid when it wasn't looked on as it is today. You may want to consider the nic free juice. But that is just advice. Given a choice I would rather see someone vape than smoke.

    Hard decision...

The K100 was my first mechanical mod and it's a great workhorse. This mod is the clone for the Empire Mod which is very hard to get, it's rarely in stock. For over six months I've been waiting to get an email saying they have some for sale but it hasn't come yet. The original Empire Mods go for around $160. I really like the Magneto for ease of use. It's also a little more slender and less heavy than the K100 using magnets rather than springs for the button. Like anything else you'll find good quality clones and badly made ones. The clones I have I'm very happy with their performance.

  28. Bowmore Legend is a pretty good "cheaper" single-malt... a good mossy overtoned Islay, IMO for <$30. McClelland's Highland or Islay are very good, yet different tastes. The Islay is a more earthy tone with hints of peat/moss and oak, but I find the finish a tad bit bitter (Bowmore is better in the finish). Now, the Highlands is more sweet/fruity/flowery, but IMO has a better finish... smoother, sweeter, no "sting", and much better for sipping! Both of the McClelland's are in the $20-25 range, and sometimes cheaper in the big discount-stores. Granted, the ones I listed are no comparison to Glenfiddich or Macallan, but they are far better than blended labels of twice their price... and definitely better than Chivas or Johnny Walker (which tastes horribly bland compared to even a mediocre single-malt Scotch Whiskey)! Of course, if you're looking to save cash over imported Scotch, and want a really good US whiskey... you can't go wrong with Kentucky Bourbon! -- No, Jack Daniels is NOT a Bourbon, despite the fact they wanna be, lol -- I'm from KY, and have tried them all, and you can't go wrong with (my personal favorite) Wild Turkey 101 (much better than 80 proof)... And the other good ones IMO are Jim Beam (black label is best), Buffalo Trace (Reserve bottles are top-notch), and Maker's Mark (my least favorite... tastes too watery and sweet).

  31. Actually I am Irish, but not Scottish. By a long rooted tree somehow. 30 year old Scotch? That could justify an airline trip just to be there the day you crack it! Now I have an excuse to buy more expensive vape gear since most cost less than a great bottle of hooch.

  32. I'm on my 3rd and last snifter tonight, that's what I call a double. Sadley half of one went down the arm of my recliner so I guess I poured some out for my homies. The Readbreast is about $60 here and is just an Irish Whiskey, Even tho names don't mean much except prestige many times. Id love to taste it side by side with this Nadurra. I'm normally a person who thinks a clone is just as good as an original, but I think Shenzhen couldn't reproduce anything like this. If you got news of ANY Scotch/Irish Whiskey at $20 a bottle that goes down like butter, relaxes like valium and acts like crack I'd love to hear that suggestion! I knew this was possible when I ran my last batch in NC thru my still with a corn, rye and malt with molasses and brown cane mash run slow threw a pot still, but it was unaged. At 130 proof it went down like butter. As I said I only ran it for my own drinking purposes. But this taste just like my stuffed if it had been aged in a cask.

I have a k100 and k101. Both are good mods. Mine have proven to be quite durable and take a good bit of abuse. They have a relatively low voltage drop. Not as good as full copper mods, but quite good for a cheap mod

  35. Dude, clones are fine. I have seen articles like that and I find its mostly bs. Know ohm law. Buy good batteries and chargers. Vape safe. If you can hold a mod and see how you like it in person. Personally I dont like the karmy k100 mod. Its cheaply made and for the money there are a lot better mods out there. Like the panzer black hawk, the ironman, and a few others can all be had for under 50 bucks.just read reviews on mods before buying. As for batteries, I use sony 18650. And efest 18500 and 188350 batteries. Sony are expensive but most can be gotten from amazon. Stick with sony or efest batteries. Stay away from surefire batteries. As for charger, the efest luc2 is what I use and love it. Others use the intellcore chargers. Also good but the efest has more for what I do and thats why I use it. Hope this helps

  40. Love my Scotch... single-malt is best, IMO. You gotta find what you like best, whether it be $20/bottle of $120/bottle Personally I do love Macallan 18-yr old! Scotch, like Bourbon (or any whiskey) stops aging once it comes out of the barrel... so if it says 12 yrs old and was bottled in 2000, it's still just 12-yr old Scotch

  41. Using my nemesis clone with igo W right now. About .53 dual coil and I only use sony vtc 5. Pretty good setup. Like an old chevy pickup truck. When I really want to get down though I pull out the v3tronix flip mod and brass monkee rda. It's the ferrari in the garage. They all drive you around the block, just about performance and looks beyond that.

  44. Alright everybody it was a big day for me. I haven't been posting to much for a few days because I've been doing a bunch of research. Did you know they have a 5 part video on youtube about coil building that's almost 3 hours. Before I reveal my purchases let me say thank you to all of you that helped in one way or another in my decision making process. I specifically want to thank Tam, Ma,Comp and Charlie for their one on one attention. I feel I went into this well prepared. http://www.kidneypuncher.com/smoktech-omnitester/ http://www.kidneypuncher.com/ehpro-helios-clone-rba/ I also got: 28 gauge kanthal Pre-boiled organic cotton some "short pipe" coils for my evod style tank Tank stands Luger lock syringe and 20g needle (still haven't filled that damn davide mini) I'm going to the walmart or home depot down the street in a little bit to get a 2ml screwdriver set and a torch. Probably some needle nose pliers. And some dykes. Hey Tam did you see what item I put at the top of the list?

    Nic Levels

While temperature does have an effect on how the body absorbs anything, temperature of the vapor will have an effect, but less on the absorption rate, more on the delivery (volume). All things being equal, more vapor equates to more nicotine potentially aerosolized. The coil vaporizes the pg/vg/water to create a vapor-carrier to deliver nicotine in microscopic droplets (think, near-molecular-level). What determines absorption, once you inhale, is not the temperature, but rather the surface-area (mouth/throat/lungs) contacted by the vapor. A mouth-puff (not inhaled) will not deliver the same volume as a straight-draw-lung-hit. The longer you "hold" the hit also will increase the potential for full-absorbtion. Also, a "cold" hit which produces very little vapor will deliver less nicotine to the body than a "visible" vapor will. From the study I listed above, they were dealing with a tiny transdermal patch, delivering across 2.5 sq-in of skin. Vaporizing the nicotine produces a large dispersal of nicotine throughout the volume vapor, thus providing more potential for a larger surface-area to absorb it. Once nicotine is contained in the vapor, the body readily absorbs it. Heat has far less effect in this case, because you have increased the surface-area exponentially, and the membranes of your mouth/throat/lungs more readily absorb the nicotine for blood-delivery than does the tougher barrier of exterior skin! This is why vaping is so effective at nicotine delivery. The mechanism is similar to smoking...
