Can't say I care to much for their advertizing. "Grand Vapors May 14 Breaking News: Orphan Blood is starting the pre-orders and may release as soon as Friday. We are waiting for bottles to come in. We do currently have 60ml and 120ml. Orphans stopped crying today so we started stabbing them. We have been storing their sweat in the in large barrels for a few months now to make a flavor but in the mean time we will be stabbing them so they will cry and if any die we will have Orphan Organs also." To me this is just disturbing. Not impressed!3 points -

E-cigarettes boost quitting success among smokers, study finds May 20th, 2014, 6:26 am London(Reuters) - Smokers trying to quit are 60 percent more likely to report success if they switch to e-cigarettes than if they use nicotine products like patches or gum, or just willpower, scientists said on Wednesday. Presenting findings from a study of almost 6,000 smokers over five years, the researchers said the results suggest e-cigarettes could play an important role in reducing smoking rates and hence cutting tobacco-related deaths and illnesses. As well as causing lung cancer and other chronic respiratory diseases, tobacco smoking is also a major contributor to cardiovascular diseases, the world's number one killer. "E-cigarettes could substantially improve public health because of their widespread appeal and the huge health gains associated with stopping smoking," said Robert West of University College London's epidemiology and public health department, who led the study. Mainly funded by the charity Cancer Research UK and published in the journal Addiction, West's study surveyed 5,863 smokers between 2009 and 2014 who had tried to quit without using prescription medicines or professional help. The results were adjusted for a range of factors that might influence success at quitting, West said - including age, nicotine dependence, previous attempts to give up smoking, and whether quitting was gradual or abrupt. They showed that 20 percent of people trying to quit with the aid of e-cigarettes reported having stopped smoking conventional cigarettes. That compared with just 10.1 percent of those using over-the-counter aids such as nicotine replacement patches or gum. Of those using willpower alone, 15.4 percent had managed to stop. E-cigarettes contain nicotine - a stimulant not thought to be particularly harmful, although it is addictive - delivering it in a water vapor rather than in smoke from burning tobacco. A relatively new product, they have become highly controversial, with public health opinion split over whether they might be a powerful tool in helping those hooked on cigarettes to finally give up, or whether they simply replace one bad habit with another. Because switching to e-cigarettes from tobacco ones does not entail kicking the addiction to nicotine, some specialists say they could spell the end of smoking - which the World Health Organisation (WHO) calls "one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced". But critics point to a lack of long-term scientific evidence to support the safety and effectiveness of e-cigarettes, and warn they may also re-normalize smoking, enticing children or other non-smokers to take it up. West agreed that evidence about long-term use is e-cigarettes is scant, but stressed the balance of risks had to be weighed against the very strong evidence of tobacco's harms. "It's not clear whether long-term use of e-cigarettes carries health risks, but from what is known about the contents of the vapor these will be much less than from smoking," he said. Smoking tobacco kills half of all those who do it, according to the WHO, and has a death toll of 6 million people a year. West said evidence shows that smokers who seek professional help from doctors or health clinics that provide stop-smoking services have the highest success rates in quitting. "These almost triple a smoker's odds of successfully quitting compared with going it alone or relying on over-the-counter products," he said. Ok, thanks for some back ground info. I have to relate this to buying a new car.... The dealer hands you the keys and says it has a full tank of gas.... When you run out, and haven't read the manual to know what octane it needs, or how to check the oil... etc. Bottom line, you need to know what ohms law is. Also what your batteries can handle (not all are the same), as well as have a reasonable quality charger for them. The ohms reader is so you can put your atty on it and check to see your build status safely.1 point -
MVP v2 and increasing coil resistance
Joshuab3687 reacted to iheartvape for a topic
One thing I will add to this is lately it seems the aspire coils have been sub par quality. Also running at 9watts, although not bad, can decrease the life a little in comparison to using lower watts. But I would say you probably just had variance in coil quality mixed with different juices. I honestly wouldn't pay much mind to it. I use to try to calculate coil life all the time, but it can be maddening, there are too many variables.1 point -

Tam reacted to iheartvape for a topic
Hmmm..... buy an ohm meter! You seem to have the general concept of building even if you did overlook the simplest and most important part of it. If your using 28g at 5 wraps, I don't necessarily think your resistance is your issue, unless of course you vented your battery and now your battery is toast, because you didn't have a ohm meter to check if the resistance on your coil was in a reasonable level for your particular battery to handle the amps. But hey at least you still have a hand so that's a plus! Check the center pin on your mech mod, some are adjustable and it may just be too low and isn't making contact with the center pin on your RDA's. Oh and in case it wasn't mentioned, buy an ohm meter, they are fairly cheap. Cheaper then replacing batteries or paying a hospital bill from losing your hand or something.1 point -
Put everything down, do a LOT more research on your equipment and your execution. Then come back and ask an educated question. I think that's the best thing you can do right now for everyone. EDIT: And buy an ohm meter ASAP1 point

I read some of the threads about removing the silica wicks and replacing them with cotton for a faster absorbing wick. I thought maybe I'd get some practice in before I got my hands on the high vg liquid I'm getting next week. Wow....it sounded pretty straight forward from what I read. I unwound the coil from the silica a replaced it with some cotton from off the end of my q-tips (my cotton supply is very limited here offshore). everything seemed cool up to the point where I began to re-wind the coil and tried making it look like it did before I began my little operation. It looked somewhat passable at best. getting in back in the shaft was another story all together. Obviously I did something wrong because after I replaced my rig job the sucker wouldn't fire at all. I'm guessing the posts at the end of the wrapping weren't touching the right spots, thus not making the proper electrical loop. Whatever the case my bravado concerning wick replacement has been knocked down a peg or two. I'm not saying I'll never try it again but I certainly put myself in a tight spot as I rendered one of my remaining two replacement coils useless. One coil left...one week til I hit land. Should be okay but I wish I hadn't put myself so close to the edge. Oh well, live and learn right?1 point

It wasn't until I made that post that I had even looked into the company. I'm not personally attacking you Happy Vapor. Just understand why it would/could be offensive. The way I see it, and yes I know it is just trying to funny, they are advertizing that they get the juice from abusing children and profit from it. That is in poor taste. As far as the OP goes it is not an attack of him/her either. They can advertize the product anyway they like, but I have a right to be offended by the way they present it. I also have a right to express that I'm offended.1 point -

Love2VapeDaily reacted to charliestheman for a topic
First you need to troubleshoot the firing problem. We can't even speculate on wraps by not knowing what size your coil, wrap, and wire is (and material). If it's not firing at all or getting warm I doubt it needs less resistance if you're at 4 or 5 coils in a moderate size wrap. "I would guess" and electricity and explosives dont mix so I modified my first sentence. You need an ohm meter, or provide us what your .ohm load is if you already have a meter. Shoot for an ohm load around 1.5. What size are your wraps, and what guage kanthal are you using? Or are you using something besides Kanthal? If you aren't getting fire it means there's a short or something and just cutting down the resistance by removing a coil and not knowing the ohm load or if the battery is firing is REALLY dangerous so you need to troubleshoot carefully. What size drill bit are you wrapping around is what I meant by what size are the coils. It could be your wires where one wire on the coil is crossing another wire where they are connected at the post. Or it could be a center pin not making contact. Does the mech mod fire a clearomizer/cartomizer fine or are the two RDA's the only thing you've built so far? Do you have an ego type battery? Or something besides that mech mod. You need to check the coils on an ohm meter, and find out what is preventing them from firing. I did a quick google search on those batteries, some have internal short circuit protection by means of an internal PCB board according to the post I read on ECF. If that's the case, then the reason it's not firing is probably because you have a short circuit in your RDA, coil, or the mech mod itself, or your .ohms might be too low for the batteries if they have over current protection, I don't know that they do though. If that's the case and it's short circuit protection holding up the show, and you keep trying to fire it you just may find the one odd chance they have where the short circuit protection doesn't engage, and blow your arm off with mech-mod hand grenade shrapnel. PLEASE BE CAREFUL HERE.1 point -

I still have Ce4 tanks, which I use for trying new flavors... the Ce5 is the same tank, but with replaceable coils. They are both top-coil units, which give you a warmer vape (coil is closer to your mouth), but as the tank gets lower and lower, you have to keep tipping it sideways to "load the wicks", which leads to dry or burnt hits. I also find the Ce4's to be a much tighter draw, which is what some people like. I will agree with the others... the EVOD kit is a much better starter... I wish the EVODs were an option for me when I bought my first kit! Check other online vendors for prices. I've seen EVOD starters with two batteries and two tanks for as low as $24.99 (up to $59.99 at brick-and-mortar shops), and you want your first kit to be a good one, so you'll not be discouraged with vaping. You WILL, eventually get hooked on the hobby and find yourself buying tanks, coils, batteries, MODs, etc.... But, nothing says you have to go nuts and spend hundreds or thousands of dollars... an EVOD kit will give you LONG service, and many people are quite content with them as their daily workhorses.1 point -

I second Bebop's recommendation. The kit he's talking about is a solid one that you won't regret buying for your first set up. The one that you linked to is a bit...inferior, especially the CE5. Those are your basic use it for a week and throw it out, even if you can change the bottom coil on it. Believe me. When these first came out it was the best thing we could get and they were still junk. Now, there are better alternatives like the Evod tank. You'll save yourself money in the long run, imo.1 point -

The bottom coil of the evod is superior to the CE5. No doubt. The replacement coils are about $1.25 - you will go through a lot of these. Get an extra pack in 1.8 ohm Later you can get a higher performing battery like the vision spinner. Then, while you are comfortably vaping away, you can read up on all the various tanks and juices and really have some fun exploring but you will be satisfied with your initial choice.1 point

I would order the Kanger evod kit avail right here at the VT store. Replacement coils much cheaper, bottom coil, and better performance. Your kit is not bad but you could do a little better. Recommend liquids from vape dudes starting out. There are plenty of vapor vendors in Seattle. Try to find one where you can try various juices and devices.1 point -
I'm glad you're listening and stopped long enough to let it sink in, to think about it before jumping off at the deep end. Thank you for that. APV (Advanced Personal Vaporizers) like the Vamo 5 allow you to set voltage and/or wattage. Mechanical mods are set voltage (usually around 3.7 volts) unless you add a kick to it. I have a couple of APVs and a couple of mechanical mods. My go-to everyday set up is a Vision Spinner (both 900 mAh and 1300 mAh). These are variable voltage batteries and super work horses. I prefer these to anything more expensive. My Evic is an overpriced paper weight (these cost a little over $100). My Spinners work better than it does. For a mechanical mod I would have to say that my gold Magneto rocks my socks off. Add a Kanger Pro Tank 2 with single coils at 1.8 ohm, some 50/50 juice and I get loads of clouds.1 point

From the sound of it you went at it the wrong way You didnt say what tank the coil was in so the directions i give are for kanger pro tank 2 Dont unwind the coil Just wet the wick and with tweezers pull the wick out carefully without moving the coil pull a small piece of cotton off the q tip and roll it between your fingers Make a point on the end of your cotton insert inside the coil Try your best not to push the coil to one side or the other Trim the cotton wick to size Wet new cotton wick with juice pull another small piece of cotton and roll between fingers put on top of coil in slot so ends come out on both sides Put top tube back in screw base back on full tank Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes so cotton wick can start wicking juice Then try it It would be best if you had an ohms meter to check the coil Maybe someone here has a better way to do it and they will post Othe rthan this you will need kanthal wire to build another coil Im sure when you unwound the original it wont work right for you1 point

Ok, I'll say it. There is no way to read the ohmic value of your builds in either of the #cloudchasing kits advertised on bevapehappy.com. Hey do, however, come with a good charger and batteries. It is imperative that you have a way to check your builds and a knowledge of battery safety. There are some excellent posts on VT that deal with both of these subjects. Please do your homework. I am just getting started with mech mods and coil building myself and I can assure you that my first builds will not be in the sub ohm territory. Also, I will not stack batteries. The peeps on this forum are excellent and will answer your questions. Be safe!1 point

Advice on nic juice for mixing
Tam reacted to Compenstine for a topic
It is not my intent to bash Fuzion Vapor. My point was to say that just because a company states that it is "PG Free" doesn't mean that it is. Fuzion states that "No PG is Added" This means that they do not add straight PG as part of the base as I stated. I looked at the site and they do not state anywhere that they are "PG Free" meaning free of any PG in the liquid. Some companies do use non PG flavorings and state "PG Free" that would be true if they use Non PG base flavorings. As Bcarter said, Fuzion uses non PG flavorings in their "Prime" line of liquids making them "PG Free".1 point -

I second the opinion on the iTaste VV (VV3 is the current version) It's about the same size as the ego style devices like the evod that you have, and is variable variable/variable wattage at the touch of a button and VERY user friendly. When you want to get the next step up after that for something with a huge battery, lots of power, and ease of use, you could easily move up the the MVP 2.0, both kits run about $35-$45 on sale. http://101vape.com/mods/183-innokin-itaste-vv-v3-express-kit.html https://www.completevape.com/innokin-itaste-mvp-20-shine-purple-with-snowflakes https://www.completevape.com/innokin-itaste-mvp-20-shine-hot-pink-with-skull-design1 point -

I understand from the chat I have seen it is all about the tax revenue they are losing. Hmmm, so they want them to quit but they don't want to lose the money. I just heard this a.m. that tax in US on "analogs" is going up .61 cents. could that be cuz so many have quit they are feeling the hit in revenue? Me thinks YES!!
