One Year Today!
joe2003 and 3 others reacted to bcartervol98 for a topic
Today marks one year I have been tobacco smoke free! Now for my story: I am 44 years old and had smoked for over 28 years when I decided to make the switch. Unlike many others I had never tried to quit before, nor had I ever tried an e-cig before. It happened all of a sudden. I went from smoking a pack and a half to 2 packs a day to never picking up another one over one weekend. Everyone that knows me know I am a University of Tennessee alumni and bleed Tennessee Orange. I was very active with the Football team when I was a student there and maintain a very close relationship today. It was Orange and White Game weekend last year and we were making plans for the weekend. We went to a party with several former players, current NFL players, and a few coaches. One of the people in town was Arian Foster, he always stays with us when he comes back in town. From the time he got into town he complained about the smoke smell lol, told my wife she was too beautiful to be killing herself, told us how lucky we were to have such an awesome son and it was a shame we wouldn't get to see him grow up. Then we went to the party and as we smokers do, my wife and I were trying to figure out who the other smokers were so we could not be "the only ones". Not a lot of smokers in a group of former-current athletes but a friend that owns a local sports talk radio station was there and he is (was) a smoker. When we got there, hit up the kegs, and asked him if he wanted to go smoke he replied "I quit, I used the electric to get over my cravings and now I have been without both for almost a month!". WHAT HE QUIT, WE ARE THE ONLY ONES? Well the ribbing continued all weekend, we stood on the field in Neyland Stadium for hours and the last few were spent jonesing for a smoke. I even snuck one in the press bathroom as many before me had based on the butts on the floor. I had an epiphany, why was I doing this to myself? It made no sense. I decided to take the route my friend had and went and bought 4 NJoy Kings and stated as of Monday morning I would never smoke another cigarette. I tool the usual route of a new vaper. My wife and I both started out there but soon realized this was going to get expensive. Next we went to the Cigar Store in the mall and bought two $150 starter kits that were garbage, worse than Blu. What happened next changed my life forever: I found Vapor Talk Forums! Based on advice I got here, I then ordered a EgoT 1000mah starter kid from VapeDudes (The battery in my front pocket right now actually) and it truly changed my life. Since then I have grown my collection. I have one APV, a Vamo V2. I actually prefer the Ego Style VV batteries to the Mods and APVs. My Vamo hardly even gets used. I have about a dozen Spinners in varying MAH ratings, Evod VVs (just came in today on my anniversary :-)), standard Ego style batteries in various styles and have found a liquid I have rarely strayed from in the last 6 months or so, Endless Summer from Fuzion. I go through 125ml of it before I do 15ml of anything else. I know, long post, but I want to finish by saying thanks. Thanks to those that helped. Thanks to those that put up with my incessant questions. Thanks to those that told me when I was doing something wrong or stupid. In closing, thanks for being a driving force in saving my and my wifes life. Without this forum I have no doubt we would still be stopping by the store to spend $50 on a carton about every other day instead of ordering liquid once every 6 weeks or so and replacement coils about once a month. We would still spend more time in the basement bathroom than we do with our son upstairs. We would still stink, our cars would still stink, and I would still be on Blood Pressure meds, Sinus meds, Allergy meds, and Anxiety meds; all of which I have been taken off of since putting down the stinkies. Sure beats the chemo we were headed for! In part, I owe my life to you guys. Thanks for helping a fella no one even knows, but I feel like we are all sort of one big family. I like our family! GO VOLS!4 points -

I do not think Troy meant it personally, we are just all concerned about people using things they do not know how to use and the act of putting foil between the batteries ranks right up there with the more dangerous things I have ever read anyone doing, sort of like using bread ties to build a coil.4 points -
Down Girl...easy does it... No worries, yes I was hard on her, on purpose...I spend all day harping on battery safety, and if you don't have a grasp, you don't buy your mods from me...I've been called worse, she caused her own issue by not paying attention to what she typed...I meant well and she knows it by now...and no reason for the hammer...just listen and learn is all I ask...I'm no expert, but know enough to stay out of the ER...3 points

Lot's of mech ppl and coil guys here. We focus alot on safety, so be aware that you will likely get asked a few questions about your usage. It's all in the name of precaution since the gang hasn't gotten to know ya yet. Flip through the forum and enjoy!2 points -

I havent tried my b&m's fruit flavors at a lower nic yet. I dont think they actually taste theirs. I believe you do and have taste testers and if you dont like it you keep working at it to get it right. I know i will order from you again. Just have to figure out a happy medium with flavor, nic, pg/vg, etc.. Trial and error..2 points -

Pan Did you verify that the unit is indeed Innokin? There are a lot of fakes, should be a scratch off with the serial number on it, you can verify original on innokins website...with that you can go to any Innokin registered retailer with your documentation. As long as you paid MSRP they will replace it.. I have also done direct replacements with innokin on a few occasions, and with them overseas, takes longer but they have always stood behind thier products. Buy from an authorized retailer next time to avoid knockoffs and bad service..2 points

I Guess that means I'll be adding to list of flavors How much NIC is put into a flavor is generally a personal choice. I could see where a higher NIC may mess with a fruity flavor. Seems most people that are looking for tobacco flavors are the ones just coming off analogs. That is why you normally see or hear people wanting them at a higher NIC. That is not to say that longtime vapers don't like a good tobacco either. I don't use Menthol at all. Menthol crystals are a concentrated, in some cases synthetic mint. Traditional cigarettes have had it added for years and a lot of research shows it can damage your lungs. From crystallizing in the lungs to making them bleed. I would rather use a mix of traditional mints to give the same results as Menthol. Though it may not be as strong as menthol it, for the most part, satisfies that want for a cool vape.2 points -

I torch my wire before wrapping. I do mine on a 5/64th bit. Fold in half. Do my wraps on one side. Insert the folded side in the left negative post. Then tighten neg post. Run the long leads thru the pos and gently pull on them with needle nose pliers to tighten em up then tighten pos screw. Then wrap on the otherside with the bit on the deck. Run leads thru right side neg post then pull em tight using pliers again. Tighten post screw and check other post screws again. Of course, this method is for running dual parallels. But, it still works for singles. Just get your neg lead started first and tightened down. Then run your pos leads thru and pull using the pliers trick. CAL is right about the gently squeezing when heat pulsing though. To hard and they bunch up and overlap. Can be a PITA to build sometimes. The last one I did, I stabbed about 3/4 of an inch of wire into my thumb cuticle. Bled like a stuck hog. Lol2 points -

Higher PG will give more TH and burn .... Best thing to do to reduce the TH is go with a 30pg/70vg then add extra flavor to compensate for the flavor loss. I will add a small sample of a higher VG and see if that helps. I normally add a bit more flavor to higher VG juice to compensate for flavor loss as a rule.2 points -

Welcome! Can you share with us what you went through to get to building coils and advanced vapeing? We want to promote safety and it would be good for new members reading this to know how you graduated to this level in a short time. Please share any tips you can to keep ppl safe and learn quickly. Thanks2 points -
No offense intended. The reason you don't know which is the better buy for you is BECAUSE you don't know the basics. And you also don't understand the application of the two different devices. You are comparing apples and oranges and asking which is better. The problem is, you don't know yet if you want an apple or an orange. You also haven't even mentioned what kind of topper you are going to put on that device. So again you are trying to make a decision with only half of the equation. Ask yourself this. Would you jump in to the deep end before your first swim lesson? Do your research. Look at all the basic ways of vaping. Look at the effort and involvement of each way. Compare that with what you want out of vaping. Don't be afraid to start off simple and work your way up. But know before you go. Good luck on your research.2 points

I'm getting to the point where my taste is back--and I dare to say it's back fully. Cherry coke from sonic (my one time favorite drink from there) is disgusting to me now. Anything with a hint of salt? Makes me sick. With that being said..... I'm finding that some of the liquids I tried before and didn't like aren't actually half bad now. Which means a lot more money spent on liquids by me Instead of 2-3 regular flavors, I now have 5, possibly more once I get my order in from comp. 1. Mr. cookie (g2)-- the flavor that got me off of analogs. Although now I can't stand it if it has any nicotine in it. 2. CTC (Vape United, Inc)-- I've discovered that I like a little cinnamon in my mix. While this is a 60pg/40vg blend, I still enjoy it. Immensely. 3. Apple Jax (Cyber Liquids)-- again, a cinnamon flavor with a higher pg. Idk what it is, this flavor is addicting and smooth. 4. Canella Vanilla (Vaper's Knoll)- from the King of the Cloud line, this is a higher VG liquid that is sweet, mellow, and also addicting. It still reminds me of churros, and has a slightly creamy flavor that comes out more at 0 nic. 5. Ambrosia (Vaper's Knoll)-- also from the King of the Clouds line, this is a fruity creamy cloudy explosion on my tongue. I can't quite place the fruits, but omg I can't put this down. I didn't like it before, but now.... Man oh man. Still need to try custard bomb from steambeard (apparently that is the custard of all custard flavors) and I can't wait to get in my order from comp. Because I know I know I know that I won't be able to put down comps flavors either. I'm gonna need a RDA for every flavor1 point -

Ash, please understand that any forum can only help you as much as you can or will share about the issues you may have. If you can take some time to provide us with some background on your experience, equipment you own... etc. we have a better chance to help you. A cpl short responces doesn't give us much to work with. That leads to ppl that could help, turning away and not bothering. Other than the vamo v5 and you have a cpl batts, that's about all we know now. Not all batts are good, and if you want more help, you're gonna have to take the time here to spell it all out.1 point -

Question: did you purchase it w PayPal? If so there may be some options there, send eBay a complaint and copy the warrantee information you have from vendor and copy attempts to contact seller. Sorry there's no more recourse then doing this, which is why I Dont buy anything equipment wise from ebay, its so much nicer if there's a real human to choke out if they Dont honor warranty.1 point

atomizer for dripping help:) and tanks!
Joshuab3687 reacted to Tam for a topic
There's a pretty big difference between a regular atomizer and an RDA. I think he's asking about a regular atomizer to direct drip. It looks a lot like the cartomizers but without the filler material. If you're new to direct dripping, do a search here for it. There are a lot of threads and even more information about how to do it and how to troubleshoot the problems that come with dripping. There is a pretty good learning curve to it, though, so if you want trouble-free, I'd stick with the tanks. If not, the link below takes you to the atomizer I started out with. They're very inexpensive and work great, especially for a beginner. Make sure you get a drip shield from Empire Mods so you don't wind up with juice all over your fingers and battery! A cool 510 or 901 drip tip is also an option. http://vapelite.info/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22_47&products_id=62 Since you're just starting I would warn you away from an HH.357. While they really are the Lamborghini of atomizers, they also have a learning curve for even experienced drippers. At $21 - $25 a piece, you may not be ready to drop that much cash on something you may or may not like. Just my two cents.1 point -

Kfer, do you have anyone you know that has an advanced mod you could at least try? A local shop that might allow you to try one? Doesn't need to be the exact mods you posted, just something A lil more powerful than your ego. Some ppl "think" they need a Ferrari, but turns out they just need a lil more than a Prius.... lol1 point -
The manufacturing tolerances and quality control for coils is a bit sketchy. I have had brand new coils come out of the package shorted out (0 ohm). It's not unheard of. Sometimes you can take them apart and see where the coil itself is touching some metal and find the short. A little fiddling with a toothpick or needle can take care of a short sometimes. Don't be afraid to pull it apart and investigate. If it's your own build then you've got a short somewhere or loose connection coil to post.1 point

Still experimenting, so many vendors and so many flavors, seem to be leaning toward the sweet tobacco. I really like Gorilla juice from Alien Visions.1 point
