Cholesterol check!
Joshuab3687 and 5 others reacted to Tam for a topic
Just got the results back from a recent blood test. Two years ago (long story) my LDL cholesterol was at a little over 200, which is very, very not good and considered to be "extremely high." I couldn't tolerate any of the many different cholesterol lowering statins because I wound up with some really nasty side effects from them. Today? I'm at 128, which is at "near or at optimal." My triglycerides are excellent, HDL number is good and overall cholesterol is at 196. 200 is the desired number but lower is better. The only thing I do differently from then is...I stopped smoking and started vaping. My diet's always been full of healthy-ish things with lots of fresh fruit and veggies with an occasional steak and pizza but pretty rarely at that. When I'd asked my doc if he thought vaping would make a difference and lower my cholesterol he snapped at me with a, "it won't make any difference at all!" I need to find a new and more informed doctor. I want to tell him, "There! You bast@rd! Take that!" Lol.6 points -

Hubby and I took our blood pressure at home a week ago.... While my BP has ALWAYS been good, it was my resting heart rate that I've been worried about. Last time I took it on our machine, it was over 100. I was still a smoker. Last week, when we did it, my resting heart rate was.... (Drum roll please) 61! MAJOR freaking difference. Hubby's blood pressure (even on meds) has always been on the high side, and the time before he stopped smoking it was like in the 140s/90s, heart rate high like mine in the low 100s. Stop smoking, a month after he started vaping.... BP 119/79 heart rate 65. Absolutely NOTHING else changed. Our diet has remained consistent. Our lifestyles have remained the same EXCEPT the fact that we stopped smoking and started vaping. Take that, big tobacco and big pharm!3 points -

Five Pawns Bowdens Mate
Mtdobies reacted to Crazyavonlady for a topic
So me? I'm kind of a juice SNOB. Okay, not kind of. I AM. After about a week of vaping Bettie White, it just stopped doing ANYTHING for me. I tried EVERY SINGLE juice at my B&M (one of many, but it's my main one) and only found ONE other than G2 Mr Cookie that I like. Five Pawns, Bowdens Mate. Delicious in a tank, delicious mixed with Mr Cookie, and sooooo good dripped at .6 ohms. The sub-ohms really brings out the crisp mint flavor, while when mixed with cookie I get more of a smooth chocolate mint flavor, and straight up in a tank it's not as smooth but still delicious. Now.... I gotta go try more juices. I see a vape lounge hopping day coming up1 point -
I figured out if sitting by my wood stove I can stealth vape successfully, at my age I'm stealth vaping ... its crazy I know but someone doesn't like the clouds and smelling all the fruity stuff. (He's Not convinced yet that second hand vapor doesn't cause issues). last night my dog and I sat by the wood stove and it worked.. she loves the smell and I could Vape in peace... which was nice she used to smack my analog out of my hand, sneeze and grab my pack, run outside & shred them. Smart dogs were a pain! Now we are all happy!1 point

Question

This is great advice too, missed that. I generally change my coils about every 4-5 tankfuls in my 2.5ml KPT 2s and Davide Minis. I have about 10 tanks in rotation so its hard to say how many "days" as there is duplication but when they even give a hint of a burned taste I just change the coil.1 point -
She loves it! She's a hypo alert dog, she sits next to me and sniffs wags her stub and smiles... got a nose that won't quit, her son chases the cloud and wiggles, its funny to watch.1 point

He said after 2 months he started getting the burning and bad throat hit. Get a new tank or replace the coils in the existing one. Also, make sure he isnt keeping the battery on for more than about 5 seconds - that can burn the wicking and it will never taste right again. This is more of an issue on the variable batteries. Too much ppower too long. I change out my coils in my KPT2's about every 7 to 10 days depending on how I hit them.1 point

Could be crap liquid like the shops here carry too, not the mix or the nic.1 point -
Question
Mtdobies reacted to bcartervol98 for a topic
The bolded above is why I think one should have to take a test and obtain a license to open a vape shop. They are probably selling garbage liquids if they are giving advice that a backup battery can help with too much throat hit. Have him get a higher VG% liquid and lower PG% at the same nic levels and try that. Things like this make me thrilled to have the established online supplier network I have and do not have to rely on B&Ms for advice. You will get much better here than at most.1 point -
Vaping and tooth decay?
Joshuab3687 reacted to paradigm4705 for a topic
I have a bit of info here that may help. I switched to vaping 3 months ago and noticed that all of the sudden have giant cavities, and noticeable problems with my teeth. I recently went to the dentist and he gave me the best explanation I have heard yet : When you smoke, you are causing your gums to swell, covering more of your teeth than normal. It is possible for some that under the swelling, a small cavity could form. This cavity wouldn't be easily spotted as it is hidden under your gums. At the same time, your gums form something of a hermetic seal over this cavity, slowing progression. When you quit smoking, your gums begin to recede again, going back to their normal positions. This could reveal this cavity and open it up in the same fashion as an old tomb. Now exposed to the elements, the cavity has free reign to wreak havoc, get bigger, and show you all the underlying hidden problems that you hadn't seen before. Hope this helps!1 point -

Tameiki that's great news! In 6 mos mines dropped 40 pts, I can't take statins either, or BP meds and as of yesterday my cadmium (heavy metal toxicity) levels are down to near nothing, and lost another 8 lbs (diabetics don't just lose weight) no more stinky crap for me. Isn't it amazing how vaping & good people supporting you makes a difference... Hugs!1 point

Pass through Question
Tam reacted to bcartervol98 for a topic
If you are able I would get extra batteries. Between my wife and I we have about 12 total in regular rotation and 6 chargers. When the pile on the table of dead batteries gets to 6 I plug them in. Small investment in relation to smoking analogs and never a worry of having a dead battery.1 point -
Yeah drilling them out to 1/16 makes a world of difference! I did both mine and glad I did.1 point

VAPEMAIL?

@ej1024, please explore the many threads that already exist.1 point -
Its usually due to condensation. If too much builds up your bound to experience some gurgling. Use a Q-tip to dry out the battery/tank connection and the space underneath the drip tip. Make sure your coil is securely tightened to its base as well.1 point

https://www.facebook.com/CASAAmedia/posts/10152453731382868 Basically saying the IL Department of Health has to establish "special packaging" and standards, etc., for all e-juice packaging. Also, from the date of the law going into effect, until the such a time as when the Dept of Health can implement and design such packaging, and put such regulations in place (a process that could take up to two years, just for a child-proof bottle and some regulations for using such), e-juice sales would be BANNED in the state of Illinois until then. WTF???? First off, the Dept of Health has NO knowledge of what the legislature would be asking them to step in to do. I have no problems with having the state require the health department come up with "special packaging" and regulations about the use of said packaging, but it's just STUPID to ban the sales of juice in the state for as long as that process takes. It's cutting off tax dollars, for one, and people can still buy online. As far as the legislation in the first place, well, requiring child proof containers is all well and good, but I've yet to see a bottle that can hold 120 mls that is child-proofed. Also, what about juices the REQUIRE glass bottles because they are tank crackers, and what about the shops that sell the juices from out of state vendors, or online vendors, that use glass bottles? I can't see the vendors approving that the shop repackage their item into the state's "approved child-proof packaging" to sell in their shop. Heck, that would KILL the business of one local shop - they ONLY carry the juices from online vendors, and they are ONLY in glass bottles. What I see is if the local retailers ask for permission to repackage into the state's "approved type packaging", the vendors will pull just pull their product from the retailer. And that's not even getting into whether the Dept of Health knows enough about e-juice to address the issue, or knows ANYTHING about packaging.1 point
