  5. A Noobie's Guide to Batteries While in the chat room one night, someone was asking if there was a guide for batteries. He was hearing all these battery numbers in the conversation, and not familiar enough to follow along. I decided to write this guide to help familiarize the noobs to all the batteries we use for mods. All of the batteries we use are either 3.7volts or 3.0volts. There is however a 5volt battery used in the Mako Maksi, but it's not one of the popular batteries you frequently hear about, so I'll just concentrate this discussion on the 3 and 3.7volt varieties. The 3.0volt batteries are primarily used in pairs for a total of 6.0volts for 6volt vaping, and single battery mods are 3.7volts. The 3.7volt batteries are usually only paired if the mod has a voltage regulator (adjustable or fixed) for consistency in voltage throughout battery life and load conditions. Now that you have a little background on how the batteries are used, let's try to make sense out of the numbering system. The first 2 digits of the battery number indicate the dimension measuring across the battery. So a 10440 measures 10mm across, a 14500 measures 14mm across, and so forth, and the last 3 digits make reference to the length. For example the last 3 digits in a 14500 battery would suggest that the length would be 50.0mm long, but that would be for the unprotected version of the battery. The overcharge/overdischarge protection circuit will add between 2 and 3 mm to the length of the battery, so a 14500 is really 52.5mm long. Aside from the physical size of the battery, there is something referred to as mah (milliamp hour) rating. This is a capacity rating of the battery, and indicates the amount of energy the battery can store. In other words, how long it will last between charges (more mah, more charge life). Physical size will affect mah ratings, and therefore smaller size batteries will typically have lower mah ratings. Some batteries are available in more than 1 mah rating. Below is a listing of the more commonly used batteries in e-cigarette mods. **This is not meant to be a complete list, so please don't shoot me of you know of a battery I didn't list.**

  10. That's just not an option for us vv v3 users... Probly only fire down to about 1.3-1.5 ohm coils. Also, if you're thinking of useing the pro tank or something similar sub ohms would burn the silicone cap I believe. Gonna need a mech mod or a higher end vv/vw device and a rebuildable top, along with alot of knowledge and the proper equipment to test coils.

  11. Your APV won't sub ohm. There's a learning curve to building coils and a BIG learning curve to sub ohming. If you're new to vaping, I recommend sticking to what you have for a little while, while you do some research into mods, battery safety, coil building, rda's, and rba's. There's a plethora of info here. Just read thru all the pinned threads on the "Hardware Specific" sub forums, and then read thru some of the other threads.

Welcome to VT! I'm pretty sure a large number of us came here to ask questions and to learn. So don't feel bad about asking them! If you have a question, look around in the forums to see if you can find an answer. Chances are, whatever you are curious about has already been asked/answered. If you can't find it, then just ask! I'm still learning alot from these guys.

  20. Good read Jeff! It still amazes me however, that so many of the "experts" are so woefully ignorant. They say, it "could" do this or that, but they spend their time denouncing the product instead of doing ACTUAL hard science.

    help with dripping

There are different types of direct dripping. The kind that he's talking about is just using an atomizer, not an RDA so he won't be sub-ohming nor will he need to learn how to build a coil. All you need to do is to buy an atomizer like this: https://www.vaportalkstore.com/product-p/510-atomizer-lr.htm Since I believe he has a fixed voltage battery I would suggest getting a low resistance atomizer to make it work well. The 1.7 ohm I linked to should be fine. He'll also want to get a drip tip (mouth piece) to put on top. For convenience and to keep things from getting messy I would also suggest getting a drip shield (you'll want to make sure to get one for a 510/901 type of atomizer, other types and styles won't fit right). At the top of this page on the upper right hand side you'll see a magnifying glass. Click on that and type: direct drip. That should bring up all kinds of threads on direct dripping. READ THESE and take heed to the advice because there is a learning curve to it. Good luck!

  22. imo id stay with the set up you have now do some research on it and make sure you read and undertsand the safety invovled with sub-ohming or dripping even at a higher ohm. different things go into the driping world, youll have to learn how to do rebuilds and such, so best start reading up and this forum has all the info ya need

  37. Once the dna40 comes out I'll stop using mechs. By then you'll have the power needed that comes from sub ohm builds. 40watts on lipo pack will be awesome. Lipo packs from the rc world far exceeds the batteries we use in the tube mechs.

  43. Today we launched our E-Liquid Review site that has been in the works for months, We’ve been vaping for a year and half now and found the biggest issue is finding new liquids. I'm sure you've noticed that the market for e-liquids/juice is extremely fragmented. The only way to learn about the ins and outs of various juices is to keep up with forum posts, reddit, and all the vendors sites. It's a mess! So we set out to create a new site to solve the problems we had as vapers. Below are some of the notable things you will be able to currently do: Search (just like Google) through our growing catalog of 1000+ product across many vendors and liquids View YouTube reviews for many of the products Personally Rate and Review each liquid while viewing the community’s ratings to decide on your next purchase View and compare pricing information and easily make purchases with direct product links Add liquids to your personal profile to keep track of your daily vapes, liquids you want to vape, and liquids you have vaped in the past We know the site is not perfect right now, and there are a bunch of things we plan to add in the coming weeks. We would love to hear your feedback about the site so we can incorporate it into a future release.
