Well, today marks my 7th anniversary date with my company. 7 years SAFE! No accidents, incidents, or tickets. If I can continue to average 2,500 miles per week, I should hit my 1 million mile safe driving in less than a year. (Knock on wood)!2 points -
Big Rig drivers...
Joshuab3687 and one other reacted to aufin for a topic
Something else to think about ...... when you're passing a big truck ..... DO IT. Don't creep by. Ever been around a big rig when a tire blows or starts coming apart? Quite dangerous. Above advice applies double to oversize loads. Don't creep by trying to figure out what's on the truck. Quite often the driver can't see what's coming up behind and has to rely on what the escort vehicle driver is telling him. By the same token, the escort driver can't see what may be in the shoulder ahead and has to rely on the driver's information. If there is something the driver has to change or split lanes to avoid and a 4-wheeler is gawking, things can start to get ugly, so get on by. So, pay attention around big trucks rolling down the road. The blinking directional signal may not be asking .... he just may be telling. Big truck drivers are doing a vital job, and most of them do it quite well.2 points -
Electronics 101
DJ Colonel Corn reacted to miatafrank for a topic
It's time for electronics 101, and how it applies to PVs. Current flow (measured in amps) is the movement of electrons through a conductor. These electrons are sent out by the power source (volts) to act as the workers, and resistance (measured in ohms) is in the path of current flow and will slow the electrons (workers) down. Power (measured in watts) is the measurement of work being performed in the circuit, and will always manifest itself in the form of heat (doesn't that sound like heating up an atomizer to you?). Of course too much heat (power/watts) will pop the atty. Now for the math, and I promise it's not that complicated: A physicist by the name of George Simon Ohm discovered that there is a tight relationship between voltage, current, and resistance. This relationship can be described and predicted by mathematics, which has become known as "Ohm's Law". The basic statement of this relationship is that voltage and current are directly proportional (when we increase voltage, current will increase as well), and that current and resistance are inversely proportional (when we increase resistance, current will decrease). Voltage = current multiplied by resistance Current = voltage divided by resistance Resistance = voltage divided by current Power = voltage multiplied by current Now let's apply Ohm's Law to a PV: A 3.7v device with a standard atty; Voltage 3.7v divided by an atty that is 3ohms = 1.23amps The heat produced by this is determined by the power in watts which is 3.7v multiplied by 1.23amps = 4.563watts We know this works, and we can use these numbers to compare the performance of the other combinations. A 3.7v device with a LR atty; 3.7v / 1.5ohms = 2.46amps 3.7v * 2.46amps = 9.126watts (remember, this is the heat) A 5v device with a standard atty; 5v / 3ohms = 1.66amps 5v * 1.66amps = 8.33watts (remember, this is the heat) A 5v device with a LR atty; 5v / 1.5ohms = 3.33amps 5v * 3.33amps = 16.66watts (remember, this is the heat.....POP) A 6v device with a standard atty; 6v / 3ohms = 2amps 6v * 2amps = 12watts (remember, this is the heat...on the bourder of POP) A 6v device with a HV atty; 6v / 4.3ohms = 1.395amps 6v * 1.395amps = 8.372watts (remember, this is the heat....is this really any better than a standard atty at 5v?) My ohm values for the attys are approximate, but you get the picture. This really answers all the questions "will this work with this?", "will that work with that?". I also think that anyone dabbling in making their own mods should understand these basics when choosing components that will work well together, and avoid injury.1 point -
Vape Veteran here that has not been keeping up with the latest greatest for the past 2 years. I have to pick up another mod for myself and want to know if there has been anything out there better than the ProVari, before I order another one? My requirements: Variable voltage/wattage 18650 compatible anything else is pretty much a bonus. My needs are really pretty simple. I am still thrilled with my ProVari, I just need to pick up another e-cig. Is Provari still the King or is there something else I should consider? I have been digging around this forum and it appears there are tons of options but probably nothing extraordinary. Also, is the ProVape Tank system (v2) worth picking up? Tanks were in early stages when I stopped following and they were leaky, dependent on cartomizers etc. It seems like they have gotten much better, based on the reviews. One of my favorites was one used for the precious that used 510 attys that fed from the bottom, any chance there are any of those types around? Anyone care to get a "Rip Van Winkle" up to speed. Thanks as always. (special greets to Chris/Jeff and Mark, presuming they are still enlightening those around here)1 point

When I was about 12 y.o. I got a ride in a big rig. A friend of the family was a driver and had his truck at home. He demonstrated how it started up, unlocking the trailer brakes and then took us out around the neighborhood. We had a big loop in our development about 2 miles long. It was fun and I got to brag to the other neighborhood kids. This was during the whole truck craze thing in the 70's that you all were chatting about. I did get to drive a one of those local hauling trucks a couple times. We used it to move merchandise from a warehouse to the University during football games. It was an experience trying to navigate a large truck around drunk students and packed parking lots. My dad had a CB installed in our van when I was growing up. It was fun on long trips to listen to the chatter. I did talk to a few truckers and a group of people traveling to a Corvette convention while we were out traveling ourselves. I have to agree with Tam, everyone should spend a some time in a large truck. I also want to add motorcycles to that list. Having done both has made me a better driver.1 point

Dark liquids and coils
Patricia reacted to LuckiStarre for a topic
Most people don't use the right coils. I had the same problem before I learned some tricks. Get at least a 2.8omh coil, Vision Spinner and Protank-II. Clean the part the coil screws into with wiarm water after every refill. Dry. Make sure no juice is on the seals and don't twist together too tight, it mashes the O ring. After filling tank always blow hard through the tip and dab any juice that comes out with paper towel. Blow through the bottom, too. Break in new coils by slowly dialing the spinner up - start at lowest 3.3, vape about 4 hits, dial up a little at a time and vape at each setting. If you like 4.8 get the 3.0 coils. I also take my Protank apart for cleaning under water after changing flavors. My coils last two weeks with dark juice now. I recycle coils by rinsing them in water and dry vaping exactly 2 seconds. The long post can also be taken off to wash the wicks better, pop back on and dry vape carefully.1 point -
My first complaint.

Dry burning is the best way I have found. Most times OEM coils don't hold up well to dry burning though. I have had several pop on me during the first dry burn. Dark juice and sweet juices gunk up coils fast, as Vispera said, it is nature of the beast.1 point -
A little more info, please! What ohm coil are you using? What flavor, PG/VG ratio, nic level, vendor juice? On what battery? If it's variable voltage/variable wattage, what setting is it on? All these things could be the culprit but I wouldn't know where to start without having all the info first.1 point

Another one springs to mind, now that I'm reminiscing. Back when I was driving for Maverick transportation in 2006, I was going across/thru the Chesapeake bay toll bridge/tunnel. When I was coming up out of a tunnel onto the bridge, I had a seagull fly right into my passenger side windshield. It hit my passenger seat dead and there was blood and feathers everywhere. I LITERALLY filled my underpants. I managed NOT to wreck the truck, but my shorts were totaled! Lol1 point -

I liked driving at night, less weigh stations and less traffic. Yeah I get the censored. LOL Had a few of those myself. Most bizarre for me was seeing a big rig in front of me lift off the highway and land on it's side in the ditch. A Tornado that was not on the ground passed over the the top of him lifting his rig right off the road and laid down in the ditch. The driver was ok but his wife was banged up and had been slammed through the windshield. She was alive just hurting and sore. She was back in the sleeper and not strapped in.1 point -

Bizarre... Back in 2000, I hauled a nerve agent to a disposal facility in west central Indiana. I had a federal lead car in front of me and one behind me. I got to bypass all weightstations and inspection stations. That load paid my truck off back then! Oh, and that was the same load that I met my second ex-wife on. And before you ask, I'm on number 3, and she is my charm!1 point -

I don't even want to think of California rush hour LMAO! Josh what is your most memorable day in California rush hour? Mine is a funny one, at least, I thought it was. (Setup: Headed Northbound on I5 at 8:00am through LA caring a load of Yoplait Yogurt) I was minding my business and tooling down the Highway. Traffic was light (Relative) I was able to get up to 55 mph. I start coming up to an on ramp and a Jeep Cherokee was getting on fully loaded with luggage on the roof rack. I slowed down an let them in. I was slowing and adjusting my safe space. The Jeep started to get up to speed at a bout 45mph the luggage lifted off the Jeep and landed right in front of my truck as he slammed on his breaks. Lucky he saw my grill in his rear view and speed up and merged right. All I saw was cloths underwear and papers plume out behind my truck. I always wondered what the person behind me saw. LOL It was about 15 minutes later it made the Traffic Report on the radio station I was listening to. I lost it and had to pull over because I tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks. "Oh we have a tie up on I5 NB.... An SUV has lost its luggage and was run over by a Semi... The driver had forgot to tie it down. There are cloths and and papers all over the freeway. It a real mess folks." He was snickering through the whole report. It went down in my logs as a trip I'll not ever forget.1 point -

Wow. You've learned so much so fast! It's hard to believe you've only been vaping for three months, yet that's a great accomplishment. I'm looking forward to May 10th when I first picked up an e-cig and May 15th when I totally quit smoking. That will be my two years' anniversary. It's coming along...1 point -

I only know of two brands that he sells; Goodlifevapor and JuicyEjuice. He's getting ready to stock a new brand, but for the life of me, I can't remember what brand he's bringing in. He had a personal supply that he let me drip and it was awesome!1 point -

Hubby made our switch to vaping Facebook official. So far we've gotten nothing but positive responses. And two friends who want to switch too!!! And I did the math. Because we've purchased me two packs of ciggs, we've saved $30 since Monday. Once we both go full on vaping, no more analogs.... We will save between $150-$200 PER PERSON per month!1 point -

Cotton Wicks
RobChase reacted to Joshuab3687 for a topic
Welcome to tge DARKSIDE Ugalady! Lol @Happy Vapor, there's a lot of back and forth on wether to boil or not. I do, but only to remove any weird taste from the cotton. I've been educated by a longtime member here ( iMedic ), that boiling it only pulles the impurities out of the cotton and into the top layer of water , that when you pull your cotton out, its going right thru the stuff again. As far as I'm concerned, its a taste thing. The way I look at it, is if there's anything in there that hasn't been rendered inactive after boiling 3 times, well, whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger. Lol1 point -

Okay, caved and bought an IGO-W4 RDA. Will be trying my hand at building micro coils next. Also got a 5-pack of the new dual coils for KPT3 and four more Anyvape Davide minis. Now, I go off to stalk the mail carrier on Monday... ETA: Oops! Forgot to add that I ordered six more Custom HH.357 in 2.0 ohm the other day.1 point
