    Flavors research

You're very welcome! Dimitri held an emergency Skype meeting with Dr. Farsalinos about this subject. I love how he grumbles about dumb scientists like Talbot. He also grumbles about the vendors pulling the cinnamon, too, because they're just (innocently, gullibly) feeding into Talbots sensationalist narcissism. (My words) It gets better towards the end, well worth the watch. The gist? As long as we're not acting like amateur scientists who don't dilute the flavor in with VG/pg, we will be alright. So, in short, be sure to always dilute your Flavors into VG/PG and you'll be smarter than Talbot and the rest of the paid monkeys who wotrk for the ANTZ

  4. Got to play and use an iTaste VTR tonight and I think I'm in looooove. I'll leave the pipes to you guys. And the surprise is that it's $10 less at my B&M than it is at DiscountVapor.com. Go figure.

  8. Hi all! I have previously been vaping on variable voltage devices, but my lavatube broke, and I just didn't want to Invest in another expensive device back then. So I recently bought an Evod. Mostly because I was looking for an ecig with a reasonable price, but something prettier than the usual ego. I received my Evod one and a half month ago, and here are my thoughts so far. First some specifications: 1100mAh MT3 bottom heating coil clearomizer + charger included 3,7V output (obviously) Price: 10.88 USD (shipping was free for my country (Denmark)) First impression: My first impression was rather good. It's a little beauty, really. It looks like an ego and has the same connection (510 / ego) and charger. The only real difference is the button. The metal part where the button usually is on an ego has been removed, and the button is now a part of the ecigs body. It's a round metal plate, and the light sorrounds the button like an outer circle. This particular Evod came with a charger as well as a clearomizer. To fill the clearomizer up, you had to unscrew the bottom. A bit weird or inconvenient, but it works. However, if you hit the airhole, the liquid will just soak out straight away, hehe. Performance: After charging the battery entirely, I decided to have a vape on it. The draw was very airy. Personally, I had no problem with it, but some wouldn't like it. However, the amount of vapor was rather good. The tip of the clearomizer is transparent, so you can see some condensation after vaping on it. Anyway, after finishing the vape, I concluded that I was satisfied with it. Now, after vaping on it for 45 days, the clearomizer is starting to burn out. I think that's my own fault, as I have had the entire ecig in my pocket without locking the battery (5-click method). I know it has turned on accidentally because of that, and afterwards the taste was burnt. However, the burnt taste stopped after an hour or so, and it was fine to vape on once again. Locking or dismantling the clearomizer will probably prolong its lifespan greatly. The battery and the charger still works fine. Conclusion: Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the Evod, and I like its performance. I'm probably gonna move back to vaping on mods and vv devices now, though. But I will definitely keep it as a secondary ecig or for going out. Information: The link for this exact ecig is http://www.chinabuye.com/1100mah-evod-detachable-electronic-cigarette-with-mt3-bottom-heating-coil-visible-window-atomizer-black

    Flavors research

Dr. Farsalinos, of Onassis Kennedy Research Center, who has devoted his expertise to researching the eCig, has recently submitted his findings for publishment. He wills notify us all as soon as he has a link. In the meantime, there is a fear mongering campaign being led by the ANTZ lab teams. (Talbot, etc). Here is a note from Dr. Farsalinos correcting the ANTZ lies. Take note of the benefits of cinnamon, at the end. . http://www.ecigarette-research.com/web/index.php/2013-04-07-09-50-07/138-cinnamon-flavours-in-e-cigarettes Details Created on Thursday, 21 November 2013 17:51 Cinnamon flavours in e-cigarettes: how inappropriate research can misinform the public and the (amateur) professionals By Dr Farsalinos Considerable debate has been focused on the issue of cinnamon flavors after a study was published in a toxicology journal declaring that such flavored liquids are cytotoxic. Just one month ago, a study published by our group also found that a cinnamon-flavored liquid was slightly cytotoxic (although still 10 times less toxic that tobacco smoke). I have already sent a letter to the editor of Toxicology in Vitro raising concerns about the latest study they published on cinnamon, however due to significant misinformation spread throughout the social media, I decided to publish this comment. First of all, it was surprising to see a vendor removing cinnamon flavors from his sales list. According to a well-known e-cigarette activist, When a juice maker that fills thousands of bottles a day does this - you should listen. My response to this is: If the juice maker who fills thousands of bottles a day knew what he was doing, he should have found out about it before any research was published. What I mean is that makers have no idea about the cytotoxicity of their products. They are doing no research, so how would they know? But it is even worse that they are making such moves (to remove cinnamon flavors) without even reading (or understanding) the research they quote. Let me explain. The latest study by Talbots group discussed about the cytotoxicity of cinnamon flavors in e-cigarette. Interestingly however, IF SOMEONE READS THE PAPER, he will find that the researchers never used any e-cigarette. Moreover, they never produced vapor! They tested the liquids in liquid form, not in vapor. How can you support that the results have implications for e-cigarette users when no e-cigarette was used and no vapor was produced? However, there is a bigger mistake. The authors mentioned that they tested 8 refill liquids with cinnamon flavor. They mention the names of the liquids and the companies they got them from. After personally searching on the internet and communicating with some companies, I found out that 4 of the samples were concentrated flavors, not refills. The authors themselves found cinnamaldehyde (the substance giving the cinnamon flavor in the liquid) at levels that differed between samples by up to 100 times. This confirms what I found: some of their samples were concentrated flavors. Finally, there is still another problem in their study. They tested the substance itself (cinnamaldehyde) to see how toxic it is. They found it toxic at levels 400 times lower than currently approved for food use. This is a very strange result and it is hard to explain how regulatory authorities have accepted cinnamaldehyde to be available at such high levels (of course, before the approval, several tests were performed and it was not found toxic). The authors have to explain why their findings contradict previous research. As I mentioned above, a letter to the editor has been sent and is currently evaluated for publication. In short, the results of this study have nothing to do with e-cigarette use and are more applicable to cinnamon use in food (since they tested the liquid in liquid form and they used several concentrated samples). Besides that, the reactions from manufacturers show that, unfortunately, they cannot accept their ignorance and instead of asking an expert so that they get informed, they react in a way that produces panic to vapers, does nothing to protect consumers and only results in a game of public relations tactics. This is even more unfortunate than the mistakes in the research protocol. As a final note, let's not forget that research has shown cinnamon to have anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and maybe anti-cancer properties...

Did you know that PG is a powerful anti-bacterial? They use it in hospitals as well to kill bacteria. While I don't want to have someone who is clearly sick and sneezing and coughing all over the place making my juice in filthy conditions, I like to think most places use at least some standard of cleanliness.

  15. Pro Tank 3 from my local B&M. Also 4 extra coils, one 18650 Panasonic battery, two Anyvape battery stands (1 black, 1 purple), 1 10 ml bottle of custom made green apple juice at 12 mg nic, 50/50, extra flavor, extra tart. The owner almost sold me an iTaste VTR tonight. He let me play with it and vape on it awhile. It was a near thing but I managed to not buy it. This time. And it's $10 less at the B&M than what I found it for at Discount Vapers online. Go figure.

Thanks, Uma! Yes, let us not forget the beneficial properties cinnamon has! There's a reason it's been used in hot toddies for hundreds of years, and in spiced cider, etc.

  22. Thanks, Uma! Since I'm not home today, I couldn't do any more research (using my mother in law's laptop for this right now), so I'm glad to see someone dug up good information on it. For me, it doesn't make much of a difference, because I only very, very occasionally vape cinnamon roll, (not in 2 months, even), but hubby vapes Inferno frequently. But if these studies didn't even vaporize and only tested in liquid form.

The smoke signal cloud chaser above my head may soon meet his demise on this Island as I see myself joining forces with Tameiki's and the Wizard, we want to stay on this island for quiet awhile longer it is way fun with this group of folks I plan to grab some tobacco seeds and my big *** bottle of Nic from Wizard labs which just happens to have pg included. I am sure I can find some natural fruit flavorings on our island to keep me going until my tobacco plants are ready to be harvested from. yep I plan to make this my new home. lol

    E-liquid

I smoked for 20+ years a pack to a pack & a half per day. I tried everything, Nicorette gum, lozenges, patches... nothing worked. I started vaping on 8/17 with a half pack left... I have not had an analog since the first vape on 8/17 and still have the half pack laying around here somewhere... Good luck with the conversion to vaping... I hope that it works as well for you as it did with me!

  33. I just wanna say... It's not about making sure there's absolutely no risk. The lower the risk, the better, for sure... But whether or not vaping is 100% safe is completely irrelevant because we KNOW cigarettes are absolutely, 100% NOT safe, and people are still allowed to smoke. Also, I wanna point out that I think people should have the freedom to do whatever the hell they want to their own bodies and lives.

  42. Nice! MicroStick by Mini Ecig As for finding an RBA for it, I recommend the AGA-S ($12.95 from Sweet Vapes). It's 15.86mm diameter should fit perfectly inside the MicroStick's 16.5mm atomizer hole, and the AGA-S is only 5mm taller than the Mini Ecig MiniGen SS (shown installed in the MicroStick above), and over $50 less. Youde's AGA-S

  49. I came up with a very simple fix for your switch that is so easy it's scary. The spring that makes contact with the bottom of the battery has way to much resistance, so you have to bypass it. Take the top metal piece out of a CE5 clearo head and sand down the short end (not the pointed end) flush with the flange. Press the pointed end into the top of the switch spring and you're done. When you snug your tubes down with the battery inside, it makes direct contact between the negative side of the battery and the spring floor plate. Before & after sanding using 220 grit sandpaper on a flat suface (it took about 30 seconds). The little curl-back in the top of the spring holds the bypass firmly in place so it doesn't fall out when you change out batteries. Massive improvement!!! *EDIT* Since not all batteries are exactly the same length, I'd sand a little off at a time, periodically checking to see if your tubes will snug down all the way using your particular battery. In order for this to work properly, you'll need to sand off just enough for your tube seams to close all the way, effectively bypassing the spring and making good contact with the spring floor plate when snugged down.

  50. I leave my eVic at home. It is my home kit. The travel kit I have and I carry with me in the Joyetech battery case with some juice in the provided container, a spare battery and 2 clearomizers. For just a walk about town, spare battery, one full clearomizer on my main battery. whenever I have just the eGo batteries, I have a lanyard.
