I've had a few people here, and elsewhere who were curious how I built my cotton wick and micro coil for the Pro Tank 2. It's super simple. Here is a quick step by step. Needed : - 5/64 drill bit - Sterile Cotton Ball (boiled or unboiled, your preference) - 28g Kanthal - Tweezers - Torch or lighter, but a torch is preferable, as it burns cleaner and hotter. 1.) Start your wrap around the drill bit. I did 12 wraps to achieve 1.8ohm 2.) Compress coil with tweezers. Heat with torch for a good 10 seconds. It should hold its' compressed state after cooling. Coil is ready to go. 3.) Insert coil back into the head. Just like Rixter showed, keep one lead outside of the insulator and one through the middle. That insulator is there to keep them from coming in contact with each other. Insert metal pin. (Please refer to Rixters' tutorial for all the details, as this is just a quick look at the coil and wick.) 4.) Pull apart some cotton. Use a thin piece. Roll cotton between fingers. You may find that licking or slightly wetting your fingers helps to roll it better. 5.) Insert cotton wick through coil. Trim off excess. 6.) Roll a similar piece and lay over the top of the coil. Add some drops of juice to saturate it. 7.) Pop the stem back on. You are ready to roll. Flavor heaven awaits, and it should be easy to just replace the cotton when needed, without needing to remove the coil. Please don't try this if you aren't sure about building coils yet.1 point

you dont actually fuse the wire... thats the beauty of it. Its acts as its own animal. It conducts as though its "one wire" but it produces more vapor by being multiple wires... if that makes any sense... lol and we didnt invent it... just build them.1 point

Actually bebop that's counterproductive to a microcoil. The idea of a micro coil is you compress all the wires together to make them act as less. So you get more surface area I.e. more vapor and less ohms due to conductivity through a "larger" wire. If you have gaps it ups the ohms.1 point

I use 28g and only do 6-8 coils for a 1.3 ohm coil. love the cotton too. Just can't use embroidery floss since its way to aggressive and doesn't have enough stature to stop the juice from flooding. :/1 point

Most of the studies I've looked into - other than the ones run by universities - have their roots in the 2008 limited "study" that the FDA did on an intercepted shipment of Chinese faux-analogs. That's at least the way I read it. I don't know if they tested the chemicals that the company was using in the juice, or if they picked this stuff up as residue off the disposable cartridges, but they found some nasty stuff - stuff that we are exposed to ANYWAY (found this on the e-cigarette wikipedia page, I believe), and it turns out it was in way lower levels than could EVER cause any harm to humans. The Drexler University Study had a much better procedure, and used information gleaned by what would have been inhaled and exhaled - using machines, not humans - and not residue, and not the chemical compounds of the juice. We should still be careful about where we get our juice, and that previous FDA "study" (they subsequently released the shipment for sale at the request of the manufacturer) is another reason why I don't get Chinese made juices. At least the sites I go to, or the B&M I go to, they guarantee that they use all food grade flavorings, and their flavoring AND ingredients are Diacetyl Free. Which you wouldn't think about, but it's used in Butter, and Butterscotch flavoring. Consuming it usually isn't a problem, but INHALING it (like workers do at microwave popcorn production facilities) when it's heated causes what's known as Diacetyl Induced bronchiolotis obliterans - an end stage lung disease, really only treatable by transplantation. There have been a lot of work comp/class action lawsuits over workers getting this, and OHSHA determined that when it's heated, it is hazardous to one's health. It's fine in butter (as long as you aren't inhaling it in, say, an aerosolized form like the sprayers put out at a microwave popcorn plant, so it's fine for consumption, and encouraged in alcoholic drinks, and consumables. I just don't want to inhale the *crap*. Most of the sites make a big deal out of being GMO free in their ingredients (usually VG) as well, but I don't worry as much about GMO's, unless there is an unknown danger to inhaling them that I didn't know about.1 point

Very nice. I started to use organic cotton for the last few rebuild. Cheap and easy to get. Roll it to any size I want to. Replacing the cotton is also easier than replacing the wick. I use 30g wire, 10 to 12 wraps for 1.9 to 2.3 ohm.1 point

I'm just tickled that it worked! And go you! on your first coil.1 point

Yeah, but it's so much easier to part with $25 than it is over $100! Lol.1 point

Jessica- are u SURE it's the juice? It just doesn't make sense. That PT2 should be a solid performer. I dont recall if you gave specific info about your juice and vaping habits Pg/vg mix? Chain vaping? Time between vapes? Battery used? Variable voltage??1 point -
Man. This thing lasts a long time. I vaped it all day yesterday and was expecting it to die on me this morning and it just chugged on all day and only just checked out a bit ago.1 point

Well everything finally came in. I got: 1 eGo 1100 pink chrome battery 1 pink mini Vivi Nova I Mini Davide Glassomizer 5 Pk of 1.8 replacement coils 1 CE4 Clearomizer to 510 Drip tip adapter I am happy and I hope this means the hold has lifted because it is time for me to get Christmas presents together, especially if shipping is going to take this long. It was right at a month to get the battery.1 point

Easiest way to explain it ever is that Big Tobacco is losing billions to the E-Cig industry, they have both politicians and doctors at their disposal, bought and paid for. If there were ANY WAY they could prove they are harmful, they would have done it already. Instead, they are trying to find ways to invest and buy into the industry as they KNOW once reputable long term studies are made public it will show e-cigs to be a much much healthier alternative to smoking combustible leaves and stems.1 point
