Not trying to spend that much. Paid $48 for the Vamo V3 and most likely will order the SVD. Everything I am getting from every source so far points to this being the best decision for me. It looks very solidly built and for under $60 seems like a good deal.

  2. Keith machines some of the most beautiful drip shields I've seen, and his customer service is amazing. After you vape and need more juice in your atomizer, just do a couple of quick, short draws without pushing the power button to suck some of the juice that leaked into the shield back in and you can continue vaping for a little while longer without having to add more juice.

  4. As you go down in wire diameter (up in gauge), your 4/3 coil is going to increase in resistance. Conversely, as you go up in wire diameter (down in gauge), that same 4/3 coil is going to decrease in resistance. Think of it like a water hose...more water can flow through a big hose than a small one because a big hose offers less resistance (more flow). So yes, my 32g 4/3 1.8Ω coil will grow in resistance if I switch to, say, 34g. Personally, I wouldn't use wire any smaller than 34g because it'll be more apt to burn in two. I prefer 32g over 34g because 34g pops too easily for my taste. *EDIT* Also remember that my 4/3 is wrapped around a 3.5mm wick. If you use smaller wick, then those wraps are going to be smaller, too, which will further reduce the resistance of the coil. There really is a lot of trial & error to figuring out what works for you, but after you meter a few of your first attempts, you'll get a pretty good idea of what's going on. For KPTs, EVODs, & the like, I suggest going with 3.5mm wick and 32g Kanthal and see how it works out for you, and then adjust accordingly.

  5. Here's a hastily compiled tutorial (with pictures) to show you how to rebuild the heads for KPTs, EVODs, and various other BCC (bottom coil changeable) tanks. In this tutorial, I will be making a 4/3 wrap of 32g Kanthal A-1 around a 3.5mm silica wick to achieve a 1.8Ω coil. Break everything down to this point (just start pullin' stuff apart...you'll figure it out ). Coil some Kanthal around a silica wick using a sewing needle as a support. Place both leads through the housing until the wick and needle are as shown. Bend one lead to the side, thread the bottom grommet onto the other lead, and slip it into the bottom of the housing. Bend the other lead (the one you just threaded through the grommet) to the side and slide the bottom pin into the grommet. Bend the excess leads of Kanthal back and forth (really fast) until they break off flush with the head. Remove the needle. Replace the top stem. Trim off the excess silica (I use Chinese nail clippers). Replace the cup seal. All you have to do now is install your freshly rebuilt head into your BCC tank's base and vape on! Hope this was helpful...it works for me. Oh, yeah...I almost forgot...always check your new rebuilds with a meter before using it!!!

  6. Nope never once has TSA said anything about my bags. I have seen other passengers with larger baggies than quart size as well. My trips come in from Baghdad/Kuwait into Dulles, Washington. From there I fly to Tampa. And the same way out from Tampa to Dulles and back to Kuwait/Baghdad again. I've never had any issues on the legs between Tampa and Dulles. I have yet to fly a different route since I've been vaping. Good luck but if you want to test the gallon size baggie, take a few extra 5 quart size baggies just in case the TSA who check you have a problem with the gallon size. It will give you guaranteed place to still carry your liquids.

  7. I just rolled a 5/4 for the missus' EVOD. It metered a little high dry (2.8Ω), but after filling the tank and firing it a couple of times, it's now reading a consistent 2.2Ω on the ZMAX. I'd say a 5/4 of 32g Kanthal A-1 around a 3.5mm silica wick (with sewing needle support) should be a good starting point for you to get 2.2Ω. Based on these results, I'd say that each additional wrap will add ±.4Ω to the total resistance of the coil.

  8. Thanks for that tip about removing the needle before inserting the bottom grommet and pin. It makes sense. I wasnt actually removing the needle until after the entire assembly was put together. I will most definitely give that a shot. And as in your edit I did notice on earlier attempts that I did in fact push the wick up a tad when inserting the grommet and pin. Seriously though getting a consistent 1.5 ohms was super easy. Almost magical IMO. I'm using 3.5mm wick just like you have described in the OP. Thanks.

Ouch! Would suggest a physical inspection prior to purchase, there has been three on Denver CL in the last couple weeks. And ya it looks and feels that heavy.... One would guess you drive a BIG truck?

How 'bout I buy one, abuse it for a while, and then let you know how it works out for me? I'll tell myself that I'm doing it for the good of vapers everywhere. *EDIT* As far as the weight and bulkiness, this thing was designed to look like the M134 machine gun... ..it's probably not the best choice for a girly-man. LOL

Actually, i'm purposely browsing the $300 mods because it's going to make that $25 HH 357 seem like nothing this weekend. Then I'm going to need something to sit under that atty and well, there you go...

  18. We've got a flood warning until 8:22 tomorrow morning, which was weird because I could see blue sky peeking behind the clouds when the warning came up. We can use some rain but can we put in the order for a light rain lasting all night long? Hope you're safe and dryer than you were yesterday.

  19. I plan to use the 3.5 mm wick after reading your experience with these and the smaller ones. 32 g Kanthal will be used for the KPT coils. I'd prefer to use the same wire to rebuild my Vision Eternity RBA but I've found that it's a little too thick to actually fit the teeny tiny little posts, which is why I'm looking to get much smaller wire for that but still use the 3.5 mm wick on it. Thanks for explaining it in words I can understand, Rixter! Right??? I'm amazed that I think I finally get it... 0_0

  20. I'm not familiar with the Provari so I can't help you there. If you contact Keith at Empire Mods he's great about answering questions. As for drip shields, they're great for keeping the liquid from getting all over everything. In any atomizer you get leakage from the vent holes at the battery connection. That's probably a good reason for you to get a sealed extender - to keep the juice from getting into your battery connection. I don't worry about it on my Vision Spinners, just use the drip shield and I'm good to go.Without the drip shields I don't think I'd still be dripping. Others here with more experience will probably chime in before too long to give you more information. If not, start a new thread and I'm sure you'll get some hits.

  21. Yep, the nano that McQuinn recommended gives off great vapor production as well as very good flavor with little muting. That should work well for you without having to put too much money in.

  22. So that's why my latest FastTech order is taking so long to get here. I had four Li-ion batteries in my latest order because those damn greedy Americans want too much for theirs. Wait, what? There are no American made Li-ion e-cig batteries? They all come from China? Okay...that's why I ordered directly from China then.

    Help!

Welcome to VT! Throat hits are different for everyone. A lot depends on the equipment your using, and the rest is the juice. Try different flavors and get a ego twist or vision spinner. You can crank up the volts and get a better vape? Or jump into APVs

  28. I received my HH.357 yesterday and have been using it ever since. Vapor production is outstanding, and the flavor of my eJuice really comes through much better than with my KPT2. I ordered the short barrel so the vape is really warm, which I like. This atty is thirsty! It holds 9 or 10 drops with no flooding issues to speak of. So far I really like it!
